Obama’s Big Lie

The president was deceiving either himself or the rest of us about Obamacare.

‘All we’ve been hearing the last three years is if you like your policy you can keep it. . . . I’m infuriated because I was lied to,” one woman told theLos Angeles Times, as part of a story on how some middle-class Californians have been stunned to learn the real costs of Obamacare.

And that lie looks like the biggest lie about domestic policy ever uttered by a U.S. president.

TWO AMERICAS: TOP HOSPITALS CLOSED TO OBAMACARE ENROLLEES

President Obama and Democrats are spinning their broken "you can keep your insurance if you like it" promise with another false reassurance: that under ObamaCare you will receive better insurance. Now we are learning that if you have been forced into the ObamaCare exchanges, you will not have access to many of America's top hospitals, unless of course you want to pay out-of-pocket:
[R]esponding to Obamacare caps on premiums, many insurers will, in turn, simply offer top-tier doctors and hospitals far less cash for services rendered.

Watchdog.org looked at the top 18 hospitals nationwide as ranked by U.S. News and World Report for 2013-2014. We contacted each hospital to determine their contracts and talked to several insurance companies, as well.

WAR ON TEA PARTY: GOP ESTABLISHMENT, BIG BUSINESS GEARING UP FOR BATTLE

On November 5, Defending Main Street, one of the most prominent Republican establishment groups formed with the intent of destroying the Tea Party, will meet with wealthy Wall Street donors to begin building up its war chest before the 2014 midterm elections.

As the Associated Press notes, these Republicans believe the Tea Party has "overstayed their welcome in Washington and should be shown the door in next year's congressional elections." Now they are taking action to start raising the money they think will be needed to make that a reality.

"Hopefully we'll go into eight to 10 races and beat the snot out of them," former Rep. Steve LaTourette (R-OH), who is running the group aiming "to raise $8 million to fend off tea party challenges," recently told National Journal. "We're going to be very aggressive and we're going to get in their faces."

FORMER SECRET SERVICE AGENT WARNS: PRESIDENT OBAMA SEES GOVERNMENT AS A ‘SHINY NEW TOY’

Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino, who is running for Congress in Maryland, appeared on the Glenn Beck Program Thursday to discuss why he chose to run for elected office.

“We’re at a very dangerous point, Glenn,” Bongino began. “We’re in a lot of trouble. The president sees government — and I think it’s because of his lack of experience, and maybe community organizing in the past — as like this shiny new toy. And for all the disagreements I had with Clinton, Carter, and Bush, there were always limits. There was that line you just didn’t cross — we cross that seemingly every day…”

FBI To Lavabit Founder: 'Do You Really Think Users Trust You Over Us?'

The FBI fined, threatened, and forced Ladar Levison to suspend the operation of his secure email service, Lavabit LLC, telling the entrepreneur that his users were more likely to trust the government than him.

This year, the government demanded that Levison turn over his private SSL (secure socket layer) so that the FBI could investigate a single user account allegedly belonging to NSA leaker Edward Snowden.

“By taking these keys from me they were able to unlock everything coming in and out…gaining access to email content, passwords, and credit card numbers,” Levison told The Daily Caller in an interview. The keys allowed the FBI to “masquerade” as Levison himself, giving the agency administrative access to his system.

Pet Euthanized In County After Rabies Confirmed

SNOW HILL — The Worcester County Health Department on Monday confirmed a dog from the Snow Hill area has tested positive for rabies and had to be euthanized after a fight with a raccoon.

The dog, a family pet in the Snow Hill area, had a fight with a raccoon several weeks ago, but only started showing symptoms of rabies last week. Once rabies symptoms developed, the owner notified Worcester County Animal Control. Based on the symptoms and the reported exposure to the raccoon, the dog was euthanized and sent for rabies testing at the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene rabies laboratory.

The positive results were received late Friday. A number of individuals, mostly family members, were exposed to the rabid dog and appropriate medical assessments were initiated on Friday. Those exposed have started receiving post-exposure rabies treatment.

Statists Gone Wild?

“It is a very significant fact that the adversaries of the trend toward more government control describe their opposition as a fight against Washington and against Berne, i.e., against centralization. It is conceived as a contest of states’ rights versus the central power.”
Ludwig von Mises, Omnipotent Government, p. 268

“I saw in States’ rights the only availing check upon the absolutism of the sovereign will, and secession filled me with hope, not as the destruction but as the redemption of Democracy.”
Letter from Lord Acton to General Robert E.Lee, Nov. 4, 1866

Do Silicon Valley entrepreneurs want to bring back slavery, perhaps using the newly enslaved to assemble computers and other electronics? One Anand Giridharadas, writing in the October 28 New York Times, would have you think so. His opening sentences are: “First the slave South, now this. Is Silicon trying to secede from America?

Giridharadas is apparently horrified that a Silicon Valley entrepreneur named Balaji Srinivasan gave a speech at Stanford University recently in which he advocated “seceding from [American] society” and its looting and over-bloated welfare/warfare state.

BETRAYED: Democrats Now Admit They Knew All Along That illions Would Lose Their Existing Health Plans

The degree of betrayal found in the Affordable Care Act
(Obamacare) is finally coming to the surface… and it’s intense. As a top Democrat admitted today, the Democrats knew all along that Obamacare would cause millions to lose health care coverage. Yet they continued to promote it with premeditated lies such as, “You can keep your current health plan if you like it” and “your health insurance costs will be lower than a phone bill.”

“We knew that there would be some policies that would not qualify and therefore people would [lose their existing coverage],” said House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer in a NationalReview.com article.

National Review goes on to report this astonishing exchange:

Asked by another reporter how repeated statements by Obama to the contrary weren’t “misleading,” Hoyer said “I don’t think the message was wrong. I think the message was accurate. It was not precise enough…[it] should have been caveated with — ‘assuming you have a policy that in fact does do what the bill is designed to do.’”

In other words, lying to the public is not “wrong.” It’s accurate but not precise!

Salisbury Moving Forward With Employee Raises

SALISBURY – Three ordinances were all approved in first reading this week relating to city employee raises, despite one lone voice in the room expressing concerns over sustaining them into the future.

The first ordinance on the table is to approve an amendment of the Fiscal Year 2014 (FY14) General Fund budget to adjust the city’s pay plan with new rates assigned to grades and steps. The city’s current budget would be amended to include the new pay plan to be effective on Jan. 11, 2014.

The second ordinance was to approve an amendment to the FY14 General Fund Budget to adjust position grade assignments and the third ordinance is to approve an amendment of the FY14 General Fund, Water Sewer Fund, and parking budgets to appropriate funds to cover increases in employee compensation.

Obama Officials In 2010: 93 Million Americans Will Be Unable To Keep Their Health Plans Under Obamacare

On Wednesday, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius testified before Congress about the continuing issues with the rollout of Obamacare’s health insurance exchanges. “Hold me accountable for the debacle,” said Sebelius. “I’m responsible.” I attended the hearing, and I was struck by the scope, scale, and depth of the health law’s problems, problems that far exceed any one political appointee. But Obamacare’s disruption of the existing health insurance market—a disruption codified in law, and known to the administration—is only just beginning. And it’s far broader than recent media coverage has implied.

Pentagon Training Manual: White Males Have Unfair Advantages

A controversial 600-plus page manual used by the military to train its Equal Opportunity officers teaches that "healthy, white, heterosexual, Christian" men hold an unfair advantage over other races, and warns in great detail about a so-called "White Male Club."

“Simply put, a healthy, white, heterosexual, Christian male receives many unearned advantages of social privilege, whereas a black, homosexual, atheist female in poor health receives many unearned disadvantages of social privilege,” reads a statement in the manual created by the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI).

The manual, which was obtained by Fox News, also instructs troops to “support the leadership of people of color. Do this consistently, but not uncritically,” the manual states.

The Power Of Love

For thousands of years, philosophers have argued that society must invest great power in the rulers because only great power can hold back the forces of evil — violence, plunder, and disorder. They have often conceded, however, that this solution has a down side: powerful rulers may themselves resort to violence and plunder.

In any event, society’s positive, productive forces always resided within the people themselves. All the genuine peace, cooperation, production, and order the society enjoyed sprang from them. So the state was never a solution to a problem the people could not solve for themselves, but itself a problem masquerading as the only solution to problems whose real solutions already lay close at hand, if they existed at all.

Given that wealth destruction undermines social well-being, how did it come to pass that the state — an institution based on violence and plunder — has overridden peaceful cooperation as the dominant factor in social life virtually everywhere on earth? Although this simple question requires a complex answer, we know that the rulers have used fear — of themselves and of other dangers known and unknown — to terrorize the people and convince them that they are incapable of providing security, that only the state can provide it. First through fear alone, then through complementary religion, and ultimately through complementary ideology, the people’s convictions were twisted into forms compatible with the rulers, the priest/ideologists, and the military elite’s living at the expense of the plundered masses, who were kept in line more by false beliefs than by raw force.

So it remains today. Is any feasible alternative conceivable?

Medical Response To Obamacare

There ARE technical reasons for the implementation (or not) of the Affordable Health Care Act (aka "Obamacare") Here is the take of the American Medical Association:
  • The American Medical Association has weighed in on Obama's new health care package.
  • The Allergists were in favor of scratching it, but the Dermatologists advised not to make any rash moves.
  • The Gastroenterologists had sort of a gut feeling about it, but the Neurologists thought the Administration had a lot of nerve.
  • Meanwhile, Obstetricians felt certain everyone was laboring under a misconception, while the Ophthalmologists considered the idea shortsighted.
  • Pathologists yelled, "Over my dead body!" while the Pediatricians said, "Oh, grow up!"
  • The Psychiatrists thought the whole idea was madness, while the Radiologists could see right through it.
  • Surgeons decided to wash their hands of the whole thing and the Internists claimed it would indeed be a bitter pill to swallow.
  • The Plastic Surgeons opined that this proposal would "put a whole new face on the matter". The Podiatrists thought it was a step forward, but the Urologists were pissed off at the whole idea.
  • Anesthesiologists thought the whole idea was a gas, and those lofty Cardiologists didn't have the heart to say no.
  • In the end, the Proctologists won out, leaving the entire decision up to the a$$holes in Washington.

AIMS is an annual conference that explores the latest strategies and products available to financial advisers. At the event, Clinton offered what one attendee described to me as “prepared remarks followed by questions.”

Report: IRS Provided Conservative Groups’ Confidential Tax Information To FEC

According to Judicial Watch, the emails from Jan. 2009 to the present, provided by the FEC in response to an August 2013 Freedom of Information Act request, yielded a “revealing email chain” between former Internal Revenue Services (IRS) Director of Exempt Organizations Lois Lerner and enforcement attorneys at the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

Judicial Watch explains that in one email exchange beginning on Feb 2, 2009, an FEC attorney requests information about the American Future Fund’s (AFF) tax-exempt status from Lerner.

Obama’s Credibility Gap

The former hope-and-change president no longer gets a pass.

By 1968, President Lyndon Baines Johnson was finally done in by his “credibility gap” — the growing abyss between what he said about, and what was actually happening inside, Vietnam.

“Modified limited hangout” and “inoperative” were infamous euphemisms that Nixon-administration officials used to mask lies about the Watergate scandal. After a while, few believed any of the initial Reagan-administration disavowals that it was not trading “arms for hostages” in the Iran–Contra scandal.

George H. W. Bush thundered during his campaign that voters should “read my lips: no new taxes,” only to agree later to raise them. Bill Clinton’s infamous assertion that he “did not have sexual relations with that woman” was followed by proof that he did just that with Monica Lewinsky.

NAPOLITANO: Is Obama A Dupe Or A Totalitarian, Megalomaniacal Liar?

When German Chancellor Angela Merkel celebrated the opening of the new U.S. Embassy in Berlin in 2008, she could not have imagined that she was blessing the workplace for the largest and most effective gaggle of American spies anywhere outside of the United States.

It seems straight out of a grade-B movie, but it has been happening for the past 11 years: The National Security Agency (NSA) has been using Mrs. Merkel as an instrument to spy on the president of the United States. We now know that the NSA has been listening to and recording her cellphone calls since 2002.

In 2008, when the new embassy opened, the NSA began using more sophisticated techniques that included not only listening, but also following her. Mrs. Merkel uses her cellphone more frequently than her landline, and she uses it to communicate with her husband and family members, the leadership of her political party, and her colleagues and officials in the German government.

She also uses her cellphone to speak with foreign leaders, among whom have been President George W. Bush and President Obama. Thus, the NSA — which Mr. Bush and Mr. Obama have unlawfully and unconstitutionally authorized to obtain and retain digital copies of all telephone conversations, texts and emails of everyone in the United States, as well as those of hundreds of millions of persons in Europe and Latin America — has been listening to the telephone calls of both American presidents whenever they have spoken with the chancellor.

Weekly Consumer Comfort Index Tumbles To Lowest Since October 2012

If US consumers were miraculously supposed to regain all their confidence when the government reopened (even if companies completely ignored said shutdown according to the epic jump in the Chicago PMI - the biggest jump in 30 years), so far that has failed to happen based on the latest weekly Bloomberg consumer comfort index, which moments ago hit -37.6 down from -36.1 a week earlier, its lowest print since October 2012. With this drop the index has extended its five-week retreat that accelerated during the federal government’s partial shutdown and has slowed – but not stopped – in the two weeks since. Today the index is 21.3 points worse than its long-term average and 6.3 points worse than this year’s average. And what is more worrisome for The Fed, they have lost "the rich" as the comfort of the highest income survey participants has fallen to its lowest in 7 months - collapsing back to its 'normalized' divide with the 'poor'.

Top Dem Admits: 'We Knew'

OBAMACARE WIPES OUT INSURANCE PLANS IN THREE STATES

CNN reports that thanks to ObamaCare Virginia, Kentucky, and Idaho alone are wiping out hundreds of thousands of individual health insurance plans. Just in Kentucky, 300,000 are expected to lose the insurance President Obama repeatedly reassured them over four years they could keep:
Virginia, Kentucky and Idaho have told insurance companies that they must scrap insurance plans that don't meet the minimum coverage requirements laid out in the Affordable Care Act. Some states allow insurers to amend their current plans to include the new benefits, such as maternity care and prescription drug coverage, required under Obamacare.
But these three states have determined that with so many changes required under Obamacare, it's easier to start over than to try to bring existing plans into compliance.

Obama's Broken Promise Of Keeping Insurance Stirring Widespread Anger

President Barack Obama's soothing promise that Americans happy with their health insurance could simply keep it was doomed from the start, and everyone familiar with the market seemed to recognize that except the president. Even his aides said four years ago, early in the huge push for his healthcare law, that he wasn't to be taken literally on that point.

But he kept making the promise, literally and forcefully, through the long debate about the overhaul, after it became law, and directly to voters in the campaign for the 2012 election. The words sometimes varied but the message didn't: Not only was a better day coming for people with no insurance or bad insurance — but everyone else could just relax.

Now his assurance is proving empty for people who are getting cancellation notices in the individual or small-business insurance marketplace and for workers who are beginning to see jarring changes in their employer-provided plans. Although they are a minority of the insured, they are adding up to millions of people.

Obama said Wednesday that those who are seeing individual policies canceled should "just shop around" and get another one.

A Tool Of Destruction

by Delegate Mike McDermott

A new tool developed by the University of Maryland will determine acceptable levels of phosphorus in our farm fields. If those levels are breached, no organic chicken manure may be applied. For our farmers and the Eastern Shore economy, this “tool” has much more in common with a dagger than an instrument of science.
In this case, science is being cast aside in favor of a political tool that garners support/donations from national environmental groups at the expense of Maryland families. The fact is, we do not know the phosphorus impact, if any, on the Bay. Further, we cannot determine the percentage that Maryland farms contribute. While Delaware continues to study the issue to get a better picture of cause and effect, O’Malley and the democrats move forward half cocked, more desirous of being “first” rather than “correct”. This political correctness will prove devastating to the Eastern Shore and, ultimately, Annapolis revenues.
80% of lower shore farmland could be deemed unfit to receive poultry litter. Farms in this category will need to purchase chemical fertilizers at significant expense in order to grow. A farmer who may spend $500 for poultry litter will need to replace it with $20,000 worth of chemical fertilizer.
Poultry farmers without land accessibility or lacking neighbors to utilize their organic manure will be faced with a trucking/shipping bill in a market with fewer integrators willing to accept ones poultry litter. This translates to higher costs and storage issues all adding to the bottom line of a business’s viability.
Maryland, under democratic rule, is no stranger to losing businesses due to over regulation; and, while a business can adapt or move out of state, the farmer’s asset and heritage is the dirt beneath his feet. He is forced to comply or abandon his dream by a governor with a national agenda using ambiguous science to destroy Maryland’s number one industry.
Dr. McGrath (the U of MD scientist behind the shortened study) told me the depletion of phosphorus in soil could take 50-years, yet O’Malley refuses an additional 36-months to better understand the cause and effects.
Agriculture Secretary Buddy Hance says, “We won’t know the cost until we implement the plan.” Does that sound eerily familiar?
Perhaps it’s time to provide blindfolds to the farmer and the fisherman standing guard over the Great Seal of the State of Maryland and ask, “Got any last requests?”

Mysterious Boat Floats Ashore On Assateague Island Beach; First Reports Came Last Night, But Early-Morning Halloween Find Adds Spooky Intrigue

ASSATEAGUE — Visitors to Assateague Island on Thursday were treated to a rare ghostly sight as an old and unoccupied house boat beached itself on the barrier island overnight.

The 40-foot houseboat beached itself on Assateague sometime late Wednesday or early Thursday morning during foggy conditions. It was discovered at around the 17.5 kilometer marker just south of the entrance to the Over-Sand Vehicle (OSV) area. The vacant vessel beached near the high tide line on the barrier island in the early morning fog provided a Halloween jumpstart of sorts for those who witnessed it and conjured up tales of ghost captains lost in the murky morning off the coast of Assateague, but the real story is far less intriguing.

According to Assateague Island National Seashore Chief of Interpretation and Education Rachelle Daigneault, the early indications suggest the vessel was being towed from north to south by another vessel, whose operators either lost its connection with the derelict boat or cut in loose after encountering some problem during the tow.

10 Signs That Obamacare Is Going To Wreck The U.S. Economy

It is hard to find the words to adequately describe how much of a disaster Obamacare is turning out to be. The debut of Healthcare.gov has been probably the worst launch of a major website in history, millions of Americans are having their current health insurance policies canceled, millions of others are seeing the size of their health insurance premiums absolutely explode, and this new law is going to result in massive numbers of jobs being lost. It is almost as if Obamacare was specifically designed to wreck the U.S. economy. Not that what we had before Obamacare was great. In fact, I have long argued that the U.S. health care system is a complete and total train wreck. But now Obamacare is making everything that was bad about our system much, much worse.

Americans are going to pay far more for health care, the quality of that care is going to go down, they are going to have to deal with far more medical red tape, and thousands upon thousands of U.S. employers are considering getting rid of the health plans that they offer to employees altogether due to Obamacare. If the U.S. health care system was a separate nation, it would be the 6th largest economy on the entire planet, and now Obamacare is going to absolutely cripple it. To say that Obamacare is an "economic catastrophe" would be a massive understatement.

Of course we were assured that it wouldn't turn out this way. We were promised over and over that we were going to pay less for health care, get better coverage, and be able to keep our current health plans if we were pleased with them. The following is what Obama said at a rally in 2009.
