Salary: $82,269 Exempt Full Range of Benefits
Duties: Under the general supervision of the City Council and Mayor, serves as the chief administrative officer for the City of Salisbury, and directs the operation of departments within general government, assuring compliance with polices established by the City Council within the limits of the City’s charter, code, state, federal and all other applicable laws; performs other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Requirements: Directs and manages the operations of the City by directing all City functions that fall under the authority of the City Council; Supervises all subordinate department heads and administrative staff, hires, trains, evaluates, disciplines, and oversees this process for all City employees through subordinate managers; Participates in the resolution of inquiries and complaints from the public, and other organizations; Establishes, monitors, and evaluates progress towards goals and objectives of the administration; Represents the Mayor, City Council, and the City at various meetings, serves as a liaison to various civic and/or government organizations and committees; Confers regularly with officials from other municipalities, counties, school boards, chamber of commerce, and authorities and commissions; Assists the Mayor and the City Council with strategic and long-range planning for the City; Oversees professional contractors and/or consultants providing services for City projects; Responsible for the preparation of the annual budget and CIP; prepares, reviews budget requests from all City departments and functions, and schedules all budget meetings and workshops.
Education and Experience: Master’s degree in public or business administration preferred; Ten years of executive-level local government experience; Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and a Valid State of Maryland Driver’s License.

Why do you need a valid State of MD License? Other states do not qualify?

Applying should not be restricted to locals only. I am sure a qualified candidate could relocate to this area if chosen.
Ireton put two names forward and wanted Tom Stevenson to get the position.
Its pretty obvious the Council did not agree with the Mayor, (at all) and demanded a national search take place, hence the advertisement.
Still can't get it right....can't by national by RESTRICTING driver's license origin to just MD. Ad should have read, a valid driver's license is required.
Looks like they put the lowest end of the salary only in that ad. No range.
Ireton just flipped the bird at the council.
Why is a valid license even required? Is it a requirement to be council president? If so, then Day does not qualify. What if I chose to take public transportation? Ride or walk to work? This is an admin job, not a transportation job.

Masters Degree preferred, but not required. That is the loop hole for the Boy Toy Stevenson.
Valid drivers license required. Whelp, that eliminates Fake Day. But then again Ireton doesn't play by the rules.
Usually a valid license is required on job requirements especially if the candidate will have acess or need to use a municipal vehicle. This is done for the protection of the employer as well as the candidate.
The ad was misleading because it stated national search while requiring a valid MD driver's license.

Sorry but I don't think you have a point.
Whats the point of a new bike lane if you are not promoting it and insisting that your employees drive?
Annie, you do make a valid point, and the bigger question is, why advertise this nationally when no one from Nevada or any other state owns a Maryland driver's license? Wasted advertising in 49 states.
A bachelors degree is still required which Tom doesn't have nor the executive level experience.
At $82k, this will be a hard position to fill. If you need to have ten years in Gov, and other public employee experience, $82k is crap. I'd suggest you rethink a new requirement based on success in the real world, maybe even in the private sector where results are facts. In that case you could probably hire a top notch person at $60k who would be worthy of your "executive" position.
