Protest Brewing Over Maryland’s New “Rain Tax”

A storm of protest is brewing over the state’s new rain tax.

Political reporter Pat Warren reports the bills are coming in and Maryland businesses are shocked at what they’re seeing.

Like lots of Marylanders, the Baltimore Boating Center is praying for rain.

“I thought it was a joke. How can you tax the rain? But when I got the $4,700 rain tax bill, it wasn’t funny anymore,” said Nancy Correlli, Baltimore Boating Center.

When the O'Malley administration set up their Watershed Implementation Plan (WIP) they openly advertised that they had no interest in seeking the most cost effective approaches. As a result there are instances in which they have Maryland taxpayers paying $100,000 to reduce a pound of nitrogen, when $7 per pound alternatives are available!

The law was a business killer from the beginning. When the businesses leave so will the jobs. This is as bad as Obamacare, but O'Malley is an Obama clone. Don't forget the other spendthrift and tax Democrats in your back yard. Conway, Cane, and Mathias. Now closer to home, look at the city and county Democrats. All suck up to the Democratic Central Committee. People, from the top down, liberal Democrats are the problem.

Right now the lawmakers are dreaming up more taxes to impose on us.Wait until the casino bailout comes!

Hopefully this will jolt the dem & lib voters into action, and make them start understanding how destructive O'Malley's policies (and all liberal policies for that matter) are, and vote the dems out of office. The counaties that are being taxed are the strongholds of the dems in this state, so maybe this might jolt them into action. This tax will probably ooze its way to the Eastern Shore too... I agree with 4:30...it is not too far away to tax you by the mile--supposedly starting 2014 new cars will have kind of a "little black box" that can be accessed to check your driving habits.

Our corrupt Salisbury mayor has stated he told otaxie to include Wicomico in his water tax. We were not on the list for this tax until the idiot gay mayor sold the residents out. I think his life style has destroyed his brain cells and his mental capacity to serve us properly.

Our gay mayor is a pathetic joke not fit to run a bath house much less this city.

As of right now the rain tax only applies to the 10 largest counties in Maryland. Frederick County is charging everyone 1 cent and thumbing their noses at the Governor for this tax.

Fight them in 2014 at the polls...

I would think the state of Maryland would have the largest "rain tax" bill due to the state buildings, and all the state highways. Oh right, 'they' don't pay taxes, they just tax everyone else.
