Md. School District Clamps Down On Hugs At School

WASHINGTON - As part of new guidelines that officials say are intended to protect students, hugs from visitors who are not a child's parent are banned in St. Mary's County public elementary schools.

The Southern Maryland Newspapers report that the new rules say parents who visit a cafeteria should refrain from touching or hugging children other than their own.

Parents can also only give homemade food to their own child. All foods brought in for celebrations are limited to store-bought items with a list of ingredients provided, as a precaution for kids with food allergies.

The county student handbook for the 2012-2013 school year says visitors must sign in at a school's front office, but Southern Maryland Newspapers reports the new guidelines also call for a visitor's picture to be taken by a computer camera.

Try and stop me, and I'll hug you, too.

Ah, nothing like electing Mr. PC himself and his subsequent dedicated appointees.

Conditioning. Thats all that is. Plus you get your picture taken, too? Tiger Woods will have your butt whipped in public for taking HIS picture, but schools get to take the pcture of PARENTS VISITING THEIR KIDS?! Do you have to pass a search of your car and a "wants and warrants" check, too? Where do these people come from?? And how did they get such control over us and our children? Oh yeah. Thats right. We LET them...

My mother taught elementary school for 30 years but took an early retirement. She has told me countless times that she decided to retire when she could no longer hug her students. And that's right here in Wicomico County, MD. It's sad, really sad.

Sometimes the hug I gave another child was the only one they got.

Now love and care are no longer allowed in the classroom.

Wicomico has a signin procedure that also takes your picture. Doesn't bother me - I'm too short and it always takes the shot above my head. :)
