Salvation Army Baseball

Hello Joe,

I read the Salisbury News and didn't know if you would post something for the Baseball program at the Salvation Army Boys Club.I have two boys that play there and I coach a team as well. The registration for this years season is really low and just trying to get the word out about there Baseball program. They have two age groups,

5-6 years old-This is done with a pitching machine and soft tee balls.
7-8 years old-This is what they call (live pitch.)They play with a real ball, the kids pitch, umpires and everything.

This is a really great baseball program and also a great organization. It would be a shame if this program could not continue for lack of registration. They have extended the registration date till 4-24-2009 in hopes to try to get more kids. They can call the Salvation Army Boys Club @ 410-749-4757.Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.Thank you,

Gary Peek

How much is registration? Once upon a time, not that long ago, you could pay $15 or $20 for a membership to the boys and girls club and that paid for your registration to participate in all of their programs for a year. Little League used to charge a minimal amount as well now they are charging an arm and a leg. This makes it hard for all kids to be able to play, especially in these hard economic times.

In the past, the Salvation Army has posted the baseball registration information on the sign that is easily visible on Eastern Shore Drive. I have already signed up my son. I was aware of the registration because my son played last year. He played last year because I saw the sign. It is a great program that teaches skills as well as character. The sign would help get the information out.

How about more details. We used to play there, but then we went to East Wicomico Little League which is a good league as well. I would like to get my boy playing in both leagues if it doesn't conflict with each other. What are the days and times? How much? How many games? When does the season start and end?

Reg. fee is $50.00 per kid and that covers all the sports programs the Salv.Army offers(I.E football, basketball, baseball, ect.)this is for a one year membership. The Base Ball season starts in May and ends in July. The games are week nights and some Sat.

Then it would conflict with EWLL because their games are weeknights and every saturday.
