A Letter To The Editor From Our Very Own George Chevallier

Salisbury residents have the opportunity in two months to elect a new mayor and two new City Council members. Everyone should take this seriously, as the city is currently about $70 million in debt.

In this day of economic hard times, we cannot be thinking about spending money on some of the projects the current administration proposes. We just built a new multi-million dollar firehouse and already they want another one.

Where is money for infrastructure? Riding around Salisbury, you will see we need street repairs. The "wiggles" down Isabella Street are a boondoggle of staggering proportions. How much has the city invested in that project?

There is only one candidate who will address issues in terms of needs and not wants -- Bob Caldwell. He will bring rational thought, experience and common sense back to our beloved Salisbury.

Find out as much as you can about the candidates; read between the lines of their campaign promises.

We cannot financially endure another four years of tax-and-spend politics. We need to spend what we have in a more fiscally responsible manner.

George Chevallier

"We need to spend what we have in a more fiscally responsible manner."

Obviously. But seriously, has anyone watched news OUTSIDE of Salisbury lately? Majority of households across America are in major debt, along with major corporations, small businesses, city governments, county governments, state governments, the federal government, etc. I know the leadership of this city has been questionable at best, but they don't need to be villiafied for our financial situation as much as they have been. Its not as if Salisbury is crumbling while the rest of the world's economy is thriving. This is a WORLDWIDE recession that is effecting everyone at every level.

2:12 You fail to understand this has been on going for 4 to 6 years,
long before the recession. New firehouses aren't built overnight.
TIF's are not pi..ed away like this Mayor and a few in the administration have done. Please get real, this slum lord administration is killing the Salisbury that I grew up in and have lived for 60 years.

I thought you were on the team of Jim Ireton all this time...for mayor???

2:23 p.m., you are so right! And while my hat is off to Bob Caldwell, I'm supporting Jim Ireton.

He's gone up against the landlords, stuck a target on his own back speaking up for his neighborhood about crime.

It's time to break that stranglehold you're talking about.

To support Jim, go to www.FriendsOfJimIreton.com or send a donation to:
Jim Ireton for Mayor
1111 Fairview Lane
Salisbury, MD 21801

Call Jim if you want to know his positions: 410-749-5712 or email him at: JimIretonForMayor@gmail.com

C'mon, Salisbury. Let's rid ourselves of the chokehold this city has been in from landlords and developers. Let's knock Gary Comegys out in the primary.

Then Salisbury can choose between two good candidates instead of "the lesser of two evils."

If you think Mr. Caldwell didn't stick his neck out when he spearheaded that recall, yours is in the sand.
Not to mention, he has NEVER "jumped ship"!
