Breaking News

David Scheibach was sentenced to 10 years in Jail for killing Carolyn Huston in Willards back in September of 2007. He got an additional 5 years for leaving the scene of an accident but the Judge made it concurrent with the 10 years, so 10 years is the final Judgment.

He should have gotten 10 plus 110 for taking a life - Anon 2:07 is correct, scumbag should rot in jail.

She was a true friend to our family. Ten years is nothing compared to the grief everyone has and is going through. One more reason people should think before getting behind the wheel drunk.....wonder if Ruark handled this case???

Not enough jail time!

10 yrs for killing a person. this world is goin got hell. he put her family through hell, and has taken a wonderful woman from this world. now in less than 10 yrs he will be out on the roads and it will probably happen again.

Wow, all of you are really good at judging a person that you do not even know. What he did is absolutly horrible, but he is absolutly NOT a scumbag. Have you ever done something that you wish you hadn't done? How would you feel if you made a huge mistake and not only took someones life, but ruin the life of your family. You should all take a good look at yourselves, before you judge. My thoughts are with Ms. Huston's family, as they have been thoughout this terrible process. But I know your "scumbag" as a gentle loving husband and father, so I ask you to keep his wife and four children in you thoughts, they have done nothing wrong!

10 years is a lot compared to the similar case of that other drunk driver that hit a man, then back up to see what he hit and rolled over the mans body causing the man to die. He only got 18 months!! Talk about unfairness, but he is probably family or good friends of some official in Salisbury! I believe the kids name is Michael, don't know the last name.

Just hope we get lucky and he hangs himself in jail. Waste of my tax dollars and drop him like a bag of dirt.

Ten years was the maximum sentence that the Judge could impose. I personally have a problem with that. But, you can blame liberal Maryland for that law and penalty.

John 7:24
Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

Remember God will Judge you too, according to how you have Judge, this man and others!
Everyone on here Judging this man for his mistake were probably the same that at one time Judged Davis Ruark, to later become hypocrites saying "EVERYONE DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE" Yes the circumstances were different for David Scheibach, at the same time think of how many people, have been charged the same with manslaughter by automobile, and were not under the influence?
If any of you ever are in a bad situation and don't say you never will, PLEASE, remember my words, YOU WILL BE JUDGED ACCORDING TO HOW YOU JUDGED!
So sorry for the Houston family, it is a horrific feeling to go through this tragedy.
TO Anonymous 8:14 PM, would David Scheibach dead, make you feel better because of the taxes or because you are a family member of Ms. Houstons? From my understanding Ms. Houston, was a great person, she is probably so nice that she was very forgiven as well, she has probably forgave this man for his actions, and if that's the way you remember her, A GREAT PERSON, then also remember her as forgiving!
She is an ANGEL now, lets remember her this way and stop trying to avenge her death!

I have to agree I went over the top on that one, however leaving the scene the way he did IMO makes it more of a murder than an accident while impaired. He showed no remorse leaving the scene like that.

No taxes really doesn't matter, maybe just a reaction from disgust. If your going to thump the Bible at me remember that eye for eye.

anonymous 8:14, wishing him death makes you no better than a killer yourself. I have learned alot about humanity from this situation. I fear the people like you that judge a person & a situation that you don't understand. Even if you are indeed a friend or relative of Ms. Huston, you do not understand the side of the Scheibach family & david himself. As anonymous 9:12 said, Ms. Huston has been described as an amazing person, and even though I do not know her, I do feel that she would not force hate on David, and would not want his children to suffer for his actions.

Okay anon 9:12 p.m...enough of the pointing the righteous finger at all who comment and place their anger where it belongs; on the person who murdered this wonderful lady. I do feel very sorry for his wife and his children that they now will also suffer because of this mans poor judgment. I heard he was an alcoholic....poor excuse....being an alcoholic does not impede the ability to pick up a phone and call a cab!!! He got less than he deserved.

Its really sad that Mr. Scheibach had the nerve to leave the scene of the accident and really think that he would never be caught. However, his mind was obviously impaired with alcohol so even more reason to get him off the street! How many more people would he have killed while under the influence?
I am close to the age of the victim and to have my life wiped out by some drunk driver would be a total waste and senseless! The drunk normally survives and the innocent die! Ten years will be good for him to think about a lot of things and the life that he took!
Hopefully his children will also learn that drinking and driving does not pay!

A man in Singapore just got 10 years in jail and 8 or 10 lashings with the cane for randomly smelling women's armpits! We have become a TOO TOLERANT society. This may seem severe but I bet other countries believe more in an eye for an eye than the good old US does. When did all that change? Why are murderers and rapists only getting 10 years and being released in 5-7? It's sad and scary!

How rude, how dare you, say,

"Hopefully his children will also learn that drinking and driving does not pay!"
What does the children have to do with anything?
Hopefully you don't have any kids at all, because to your knowledge, you are not aware of what they do, but hopefully it's not DRINKING or the doing drugs!
I am Anonymous 9:12 PM, and I will tell you again, Judge according to how you want to be judged if this was you, what's sad is I don't know either of these families, and I feel really bad for both, so why would I cause them either any grief. Let it go people, the only ones suffering is the family members, so the only thing that should be posted on these comments should be sentiments to both family's for David Scheibach, cannot read them, and Carolyn Huston is in heaven shining like a star.
So please lets stop hurting the families, that's all I am asking!
I don't know Ruark, I don't know Joe, but when they were in trouble I was reacting in this same way I am here.
I just don't want you to regret what you say later on when your turn comes!

You all say he is rotten scumbag but please remember it could have been any one of us who did a very stupid thing as to drink and drive. I feel much sadness for the Huston family but we all must remember that this man needs to live with the fact that he took someone elses life and he and only he has to live with that, imagine if it was you?? How would that affect the rest of your life??? Give the man a break he has to life with this tragedy forever. He also has totally turned his familys life upside down by HIS mistake so there are alot of people suffering as a result of this.

Thank you anonymous 6:15, I am so glad to not be the only one out here thata feels that way.

Still no excuse for drinking and driving! It sounds like so many of you express that Mr. Scheibach should not be getting so many negative reviews. He Drank, He Drove (knowing the consequences) and now he Pays!

I really feel sorry for this guy. I found out that he has had several DWI's, so this should have been stopped years ago. However, he now has to wake up, if he can ever get to sleep, and deal with this for the rest of his life. By the time he gets out of prison, I am willing to bet anyone, that his wife will have already left him and his kids are going to want nothing to do with him. He killed someone and ruined many more lives in the process. Cabs in Ocean City are very cheap and he should have called one! There is one glaring event that still hasn't been resolved. And that is, what in the heck was he doing way outside of Ocean City at 4:00am? My guess is that he was not taking a nice drive, but that he was chasing some "tail". Another bad move on his part.
