US Military is Recruiting Soldiers in Uganda...they are kidding...Right?

In a article posted on allAfrica.com today stated this...

Uganda: U.S. Army Set to Recruit Citizens

Ugandans who want a career in the United States military, can sign up at the annual convention of the Uganda North American Association, organizers say.

American military recruiters will set up a booth at this year's UNAA convention in Orlando, Florida, and seek out professional Ugandans, said Lt. Frank Musisi, himself an officer in the US Army.

Lt. Musisi, who comes from Kalangala District on Lake Victoria, is the current president of UNAA. He said the US military would also advise Ugandans on the "proper channels" to follow in enlisting. The announcement, which is also on the UNAA website (www.unaa.net), is set to cause a rush to this year's convention that takes place from August 29 to September 1.

UNAA is encouraging interested Ugandans to book flights to Orlando and take a shot at joining the US military. The organization says it has made a deal with Kenya Airways/KLM for a discounted return ticket at $1,200 (Sh74,400). The conference fee is $190 (Sh11,700).

"All registered Kampala travel agents have been authorized to book intending members," Lt. Musisi said in an email interview.

The tour firm Let's Go Travel confirmed to Saturday Monitor that UNAA had circulated a notice of the discounts. Applicants are being asked to carry their curriculum vitae (CV) suggesting that the recruitment exercise will be a main attraction at the convention.

Public interest in jobs abroad in Uganda is intense. Recruitment and job placement companies which advertise are often flooded with thousands of applications.

Wymzie's Commentary: Apparently, we are pretty desperate. Our own citizens don't believe in our war in Iraq enough to join the Military so we are looking to Africa.
I'm sure we will probably provide automatic citizenship after a 4 year tour.
This is pathetic!
When the people don't believe in something shouldn't it be honored by our elected officials? With this being an election year no one will utter the word draft, so we are looking to Africa.
Don't we have a hole sector of society that hates white Americans because we ventured to Africa once before to recruit help that we needed.
Last time I checked when you sign on the dotted line with the armed services they OWN you and you are basically there property for the years that you sign up for.

What in the name of all that is sane, is our Government thinking?????

You've got that right. It is a fact that some Al-Qaeda members have had U.S. military training, and so have some gang members, as a matter of fact gangs are a big problem in the military right now. They learn discipline and tactical assault, and we taxpayers fund it?

I would definitely check my sources on this...recent estimates have the military reaching their enlistment goals. It seems strange to me that they would target specifically Ugandans too. This sounds like an Urban Legend.

I saw this on the Information Clearing House website, which took me to the allAfrica.com website.
allAfrica.com has other related article on their site. Take a look for yourself.

I'm not certain, but it is my understanding that 20% of our military is made up of NON-US CITIZENS! That's right, we are fighting the terrorists over there, so we don't have to fight them over here. But we leave our borders wide open. Then we enlist a huge number of non-citizens into the military. Then, on top of that, there are almost as many mercenary in Iraq and Afghanistan as there are enlisted soldiers. Over half of the War Budget is paid to private soldiers - mercenaries.
Also, Tim Chaney - you are right, a lot of Alqaeda have served and trained in our military. Moreover, Osama Bin Laden's name in the CIA is "Tim Osmond". He was our ally during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in the 1980's. We funded and armed him as he built the Mujahadeen (sp?)forces to fight the Soviets. Then, his group along with the ISI in Pakistan established the Taliban government in Afghanistan. All of this information was available in the Main Stream Media - back then, but not now. Our current government hopes we have forgotten about the origins of Osama Bin Laden's power. Our government is simply incredible! We knew Sadam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction because we had the receipts to prove it. That's right, Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Chenney sold him the chemical and biological weapons so he could fight against Iran. He was our ally. He used the weapons against Iranian citizens AND the Kurds in Iraq! They tell us the truth; they simply don't tell us all of the truth at any one time.

The mandatory service (draft) is coming back - about that, there can be very little doubt. The reason for it? Why to make everything fair of course. That way the rich people's kids will have to serve. Right now, only the poor kids volunteer because their other job options are so bleak. However, with the draft - the rich kids will be drafted also, and that is why it should happen. Don't you remember during Vietnam? The rich kids got drafted. There was no way for them to "get out of serving". Everything was fair. There were rich and poor kids fighting side by side. Does everyone agree? Can anyone think of a way a rich kid could avoid serving if she/he were drafted?

I agree totally cowman. Yup (Reagan I believe) He fed the beast that wants to see death to us western infidels and wipe Israel off of the map.

I have also read that most of the front line combat in Afganistan was done by the Northern Alliance.
The sugar coating they manufactured about the death of that former football player Pat Tighlman was another lie. I understand in War we will suffer losses from freindly fire, just don't blow smoke up my rump.

Do check out the You Tube news clip of gangs in the military.

If that link doesn't work for you just google "gangs in the military." The You Tube article was done by a local FOX channel 11, not sure what locality though.

We don't need the draft. We have a good supply of young people who are part of gangs who roam the streets causing everyone problems. Put them in the military and if they get killed there is no great loss. That's better than having them end up in jail at the tax payers expense. On the other hand some may straighten themselves out and be an asset to society. In summation, this policy would encourage young people to stay in school, get educated, get employed or the military will employ them for the service to America. An excellent solution to our manpower shortage.

The draft should be brought back. All 18 year old boys and girls should be required to serve in the military on a volunteer basis for two years. Those that choose to stay longer would receive a salary. We would end up with disciplined soldiers who would have patriotism instilled within them. A renewed respect would surface for our troops who serve America proudly. The flag would become sacred to all Americans.

The bad thing is that many of these gang members go right back to their gang with full on tactical assault training. Some even get explosive training.

Joe, Maybe Paul W. Gary C.,Chief Webster and others uptown would like to sign up and fight for America. This would give Salisbury a breather.Do you think Joe that you could arrange to have a parade to lead them out of town to board the bus?
