TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Gov. Jon S. Corzine signed into law Monday a measure that abolishes the death penalty, making New Jersey the first state in more than four decades to reject capital punishment.

And Megan's parents never get to see this slimeball die. That's the real crime here-he has been sitting on death row for 10 yrs to be executed. I cannot imagine their heartache. God Bless them all.
Hopefully the next governor will reinstate the death penalty. Why warehouse these people, they serve no earthly purpose.

While I am not a death penalty opponent OR proponent by any means,I can understand the reasoning behind this in that there have been alot of cases where the wrong man sat in prison for years before being exonerated.As of yet,no one has been wrongly executed but its bound to happen.Once youre dead,you are dead.If you are cleared they cant dig you up and send you on your way.A moratorium I can understand but a complete abolishment is foolhardy and eliminates any leverage that the prosecuters had in making deals with the guilty parties,where the defendant pleads guilty to AVOID death.Now there is no threat of the death penalty,so there is no real motivation for these scumbags to cooperate with the courts.Perhaps in lieu of the death penalty,they can just send them into the roughest part of Newark.....
