Where will COVID-19 strike next? Latest projections suggest Delaware, Ohio and rural Colorado could be on the cusp of outbreaks as coronavirus travels up highways - and it could be WEEKS before Arizona can flatten its curve

Coronavirus has become a dire situation for states like Texas, Arizona and Florida - and the latest projections suggest it will only get worse over the next month.

Models created by the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) PolicyLab and updated on Wednesday predict that cases will only continue to surge in these states, as well as 'spread' to towns and cities that neighbor those with significant outbreaks, including rural Colorado, parts of Delaware and cities in Ohio.

The researchers noticed a disturbing trend: emerging hotspots seem to be cropping up along interstates like I-95 as the virus travels US highways with migrating people.

Washington Post opinion editor says white men have threatened to protect 'their women' and called her a 'monkey' after she tweeted white woman are lucky black women aren't 'taking revenge'

The Washington Post opinion editor who said white woman are lucky black people aren't looking for revenge has shared images of the threats she says she is receiving from white men.

Karen Attiah posted a tweet Wednesday morning showing an apparent text from an unknown number telling her to 'be careful with hate' and that 'revenge only begets revenge'.

It warns Attiah that her comments would 'wake white men who will protect their women'.

Another email she shared referred to Attiah as a 'monkey' and an 'ape', telling her she was angry 'because white women are beautiful'.

It comes after the editor was accused of inciting violence for tweeting that white women are 'lucky' black people are 'just calling them Karens and not calling for revenge'.

'I explicitly said Black people *ARE NOT* calling for this [revenge],' she wrote, as she shared a screenshot of the message she received, which she claims is from a white man.

Feds reveal Ghislaine Maxwell's wealth, transient lifestyle

Accused Jeffrey Epstein procuress Ghislaine Maxwell is an “extreme” flight risk who’s been hiding out in a 156-acre property in New Hampshire with more than $20 million in the bank and three passports, according to Manhattan prosecutors who want her to remain locked up without bail.

Details of Maxwell’s cushy, transient lifestyle were laid out in a 10-page detention memo filed Thursday, hours after Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime confidant wasbusted on federal sex abuse charges.

Maxwell, 58, faces up to 35 years in prison if convicted and has an “extraordinary incentive to flee,” as well as the means and money to do so, prosecutors write.

They say they’ve linked 15 different bank accounts to Maxwell, some with balances of more than $20 million, and that she holds other accounts in foreign countries containing more than $1 million.

Maxwell moved large amounts of cash last year, including $300,000 from one account to another in July — the same month Epstein was indicted on sex trafficking charges, the memo says.

Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein associate, arrested

Ghislaine Maxwell — Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime associate accused of recruiting young girls for his sex trafficking ring — has been arrested, sources told The Post.

The British socialite, 58, was taken into custody in New Hampshire around 8:30 a.m. Thursday on charges related to Epstein, sources said.

She is expected to appear later Thursday in Manhattan federal court.

Epstein committed suicide in August while locked up in Manhattan on federal sex trafficking charges.

Prosecutors continued investigating his alleged crimes, leaving open the possibility that his associates could be arrested.Enlarge ImageJeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine MaxwellJoe Schildhorn/Patrick McMullan via Getty Images

Republican senators debate replacing Columbus Day with Juneteenth

Republican senators are debating whether or not to replace Columbus Day with Juneteenth as a federal holiday, as part of an amendment to the bipartisan bill introduced last week.

Senator John Cornyn of Texas proposed legislation last month that would officially recognize Juneteenth, the day marking the end of slavery in the US, as a national holiday.

The bill is expected to pass in a unanimous decision, however it has been met with some resistance from fellow Republicans who say creating another federal holiday could be too costly.

A Young American’s Take on Why Electoral College Remains Best Way to Elect President

The best method for electing the president of the United States, debated by the Founding Fathers, is a bone of contention generations later. Today, many call the Electoral College outdated. But Carly Terry, a new high school graduate from Nassau County, Florida, argued in an award-winning essay that the Founders settled on the Electoral College for a reason, and it remains the best way to elect the president.

Terry was awarded a $10,000 scholarship from the U.S. Constitution Scholarship Foundation for her essay as a senior in defense of the Electoral College. She and Howard Pines, a founder of the organization, join the podcast to discuss precisely why we shouldn’t abandon the Electoral College.

Also on today’s show, we share your letters to the editor and a good news story about the prayer gatherings taking place around the country since the death of George Floyd.

Maryland Fishing Report

White perch are providing plenty of fun fishing in the tidal rivers and creeks whether in a small boat or fishing from shore access points, docks, and fishing piers.

Northern snakeheads will be found holding in shallow grass areas in the tidal rivers and although their activity has slowed down a bit, they will go after noisy topwater lures.

Recreational crabbing is fairly good in the middle bay with most being able to catch close to a full bushel per outing. Fortunes increase in the lower bay.

Paris Jackson's 'lesbian Jesus' film draws outrage with petition: 'Christianophobic garbage'

Paris Jackson and Bella Thorne's new movie Habit is causing quite the stir. Michael Jackson’s daughter plays Jesus in the upcoming flick and a new petition seeks to prevent distribution of the “blasphemous Hollywood film.” A Change.org petition claims Habit depicts “Jesus as a lesbian woman.”

“The film Habit stars Paris Jackson who plays the role of ‘lesbian Jesus.’ Distributors haven’t picked it up as of yet, so let’s please spread awareness and wake people up to the Christianophobic garbage that is spread nowadays, but is somehow accepted and praised by society,” the petition reads. As of Wednesday morning, over 270,000 people have signed it.

It’s not the first petition launched against Habit. One Million Moms demands the film not be released due to Jackson playing a “gender-bending Jesus Christ.”

“She will portray the religious figure wearing a traditional robe, tousled hair including a single accent braid, and a nose ring,” the petition reads. “This sacrilegious movie Habit mocks Christianity and ridicules people of faith.”

Over 71,000 people have signed the petition.

Freshman Dem 'squad' members join forces in new campaign fundraising effort

The four Dems will refuse to take money from police unions

The four freshmen "squad" members have united in a new joint fundraising effort to help each other win another term and elect more like-minded progressives to disrupt Congress.

Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.; Ilhan Omar, D-Minn.; Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., announced their new "Squad Victory Fund" Wednesday on social media and urged their supporters to give money to keep their fight for bold, progressive change alive.

The squad, on the forefront of the defunding the police movement, said they will ban taking any money from the police union in an apparent effort to further stand their ground on calls to dismantle police departments in the wake of George Floyd's death.

"Our movement is for justice," Omar tweeted in announcing the fund. "Our movement is for equality. Our movement is for peace. And our movement is for a better future. Proud to partner with my sisters in service to launch the Squad Victory Fund."

DNC deletes tweet accusing Trump of 'glorifying white supremacy' with Mt. Rushmore visit

The Democratic National Committee, in a now-deleted tweet, accused President Trump of “glorifying white supremacy” in his scheduled July 3 visit to Mount Rushmore, according to a report.

The DNC posted on its official Twitter account Monday night about Trump’s plan to attend a fireworks display at the monument to George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln in the Black Hills of South Dakota, Fox News reported.

“Trump has disrespected Native communities time and again,” the DNC wrote. “He’s attempted to limit their voting rights and blocked critical pandemic relief. Now he’s holding a rally glorifying white supremacy at Mount Rushmore – a region once sacred to tribal communities.”

The tweet linked to an article in the Guardian that quoted Native Americans who were critical of Trump visiting lands they contend were stolen from them.

Iowa becomes first state to permanently legalize to-go alcoholic drinks

This will really boost spirits in Iowa!

The Hawkeye State has become the first in the nation to permanently allow bars to sell booze to-go — a popular service that was supposed to be temporary to help watering holes survive the coronavirus pandemic.

Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Monday that she’d signed a bill allowing bars to continue selling alcoholic drinks for take-out and delivery for off-premise consumption.

The bill, which went into effect immediately, was passed last month by wide margins in the state House and Senate, the Des Moines Register reported.

The Distilled Spirits Council of the US praised the state lawmakers for greenlighting the legislation.

Virginia’s new gun control laws will cause firearms sales to plummet, stores say

Pro-Second Amendment groups have contested the new laws

Virginia's new gun control laws passed by the Democrat-controlled state legislature go into effect Wednesday.

The measures includes background checks on all gun sales in the state, a civil penalty for failing to report a lost or stolen gun within 48 hours and a limit on handgun purchases to one per month.

That last measure may take away business from gun stores, Steve Garriss, who has worked as a sales clerk at Clark Brother Gun Shop in Warrenton, Virginia, since 2008, he told FOX Business. Virginia Democrats brought back a law limiting gun buyers to one handgun a month that was repealed in 2012.

"The one handgun a month thing, they had that when I first started working here. They discontinued it. ... You do lose sales from it," Garriss said. "Some people come in, they bought one two weeks ago. Two weeks later, they may not be interested."

Former George W. Bush officials form new group to back Biden

Biden also landed the backing of longtime progressive group MoveOn, which didn't endorse Hillary Clinton in 2016

A group of officials who worked in former President George W. Bush’s administration and presidential campaigns on Wednesday launched a new super PAC to persuade Republicans disaffected with President Trump to vote for Democratic challenger Joe Biden.

The group – titled “43 Alumni for Biden” – says its mission is to "unite and mobilize a community of historically Republican voters who are dismayed and disappointed by the damage done to our nation by Donald Trump’s presidency.”

“Principles matter more than politics. That’s why we, a group of alumni who served President Bush, and other Republican presidents, governors, and Members of Congress, support Joe Biden for President,” the group said. ”Together, we can help restore decency, honor, dignity, and true leadership to the White House.”

New Limits Set for Beaches at Delaware State Parks Starting This Weekend

In accordance with Gov. Carney’s goal of limiting interactions among people in Delaware’s beach areas to reduce transmission of COVID-19, the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control announced the following restrictions to be imposed starting on Friday, July 3 and lasting until further notice:
  • The number of vehicles allowed in Cape Henlopen, Delaware Seashore and Fenwick Island State Parks will be limited to approximately 60% of the parking capacity. When the 60% capacity is reached, all vehicles will be turned away until vehicle volume within the parks is reduced. Vehicle restrictions may be lifted periodically as volume levels are noticeably reduced within the parks. These limits, which will be enforced at park entrances by DNREC Natural Resources Police, will not be managed based on a “one-in, one-out” policy that would encourage lines of waiting vehicles and people.
  • At Cape Henlopen, when the main gate is closed to additional vehicles based on parking lot capacity, the closure will include vehicles that have arrived at the park for drive-on surf fishing as well.
  • At Delaware Seashore and Fenwick Island surf fishing beaches, NRP officers will monitor the number of vehicles on the beach and will close drive-on beach entrances if vehicles fail to maintain the 20-foot distance between vehicles currently mandated by the Governor’s emergency order.
  • Masks or face coverings are required in bathhouse and concession areas at all three parks and strongly encouraged on the beach as well.
  • Campgrounds and cabin rentals will continue.
“Last weekend, we saw all our ocean parks go to capacity, we saw a number of people not wearing masks in bathhouse and concession areas where they were around others, and we saw groupings of people and activities on our beaches, including in surf fishing areas, that clearly violated the requirements of social distancing,” DNREC Secretary Shawn Garvin said. “This limit on visitors to our beach parks is another measure to try to stop the spread of coronavirus.”

Black Florida sheriff has a message for would-be rioters: I will deputize gun owners if you think you can bring your lawlessness here

Clay County Sheriff Darryl Daniels made it clear this week that he and his officers will not put up anyone who would bring their lawlessness to his Florida community.

In a video YouTube statement posted Tuesday, Daniels, who is black and a Republican, stood with about 20 deputies to declare to civil rights protesters who might consider getting violent that they are not only not welcome in Clay County, but also that he would not hesitate to dole out the pain and use legal gun owners to help keep the peace.
Standing by their oath

Daniels began by letting citizens know that he and his officers are aware of the debate going on nationwide about police reform and sought to reassure them that the men and women in his office will stand by their oath to protect and defend the Constitution and protect the public.

"Look folks, don't fall victim to subjecting yourself to this conversation that law enforcement is bad, that law enforcement is the enemy of the citizens that we're sworn to protect and serve," Daniels said, noting that it's an oath that ends with "so help me God."

Investigation into St. Louis couple who defended their home against protesters is 'abuse of power,' says Sen. Hawley

He says probe into St. Louis couple is based on 'public sentiment'

The investigation into a St. Louis, Mo., couple who defended their home againstprotesters is "an abuse of power," Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley stated Thursday.

In an interview on the "Fox & Friends" with host Brian Kilmeade, Hawley blasted circuit attorney Kimberly Gardner – the prosecutor spearheading the probe – pointing out that she has had "dozens of violent criminals referred to her by the St. Louis police and she hasn't prosecuted any of them. She hasn't even charged any of them."

"She's turned them back out on the streets," he accused.

Victor Davis Hanson claims Biden reemergence left many 'underwhelmed,' 'disturbed,' and 'worried'

Historian says ex-VP 'not able' to answer questions 'in a coherent manner'

Author and Hoover Institution senior fellow Victor Davis Hanson told "The Story" Wednesday that presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's first press conference in 89 days did not quell concerns about his fitness to lead America.

"Almost the first thing he said to a reporter was ... 'you're a dog-faced liar.' And that was something that he should have avoided because before, remember, he said, 'You're a dog-faced pony soldier ...'" Hanson told host Martha MacCallum. "He was reading the names of the people he was supposed to call and he had these pauses, and this was after almost 90 days.

"I'm just reflecting what 20 percent of the Democratic Party stalwarts believe," Hanson added. "That he's not cognitively able."

US economy adds 4.8 million jobs in June as coronavirus surges

The US economy added a record 4.8 million jobs last month as the nation continued an economic rebound that’s now threatened by a surge in coronavirus infections, new data show.

Thursday’s closely watched June jobs report showed a better-than-expected recovery in the labor market as states forged ahead with reopening plans that are now being partly rolled back amid record numbers of COVID-19 cases.

The unemployment rate dropped to 11.1 percent in June from 13.3 percent in May as lockdowns aimed at controlling the virus continued to ease, the Bureau of Labor Statistics figures show. That marked a continued improvement from April’s peak of 14.7 percent

But the data reflect a snapshot of the economy in mid-June, before the virus’s resurgence forced states such as California, Texas and Florida to shutter bars and restaurant dining rooms for a second time. The economy’s path forward will rely on whether the new wave of infections gets under control, according to experts.

NAFTA Is No More

For over 25 years, Republicans and Democrats alike griped about the North American Free Trade Agreement. Because of its weak, voluntary labor and environmental “rules,” NAFTA cost America millions of jobs and devastated working-class communities.

President Trump was one of NAFTA’s earliest critics as far back as the 1990s. Like former President Obama, candidate Trump promised to renegotiate NAFTA if he was elected. Unlike President Obama, Donald Trump kept that promise after taking office.

As of today, NAFTA is gone—replaced by the far stronger United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement, or USMCA.

🎬 Flashback: “We’re finally ending the NAFTA nightmare”

The USMCA is a complete overhaul of North American trade, with modern, rebalanced rules for business and investment. The International Trade Commission predicts that the USMCA will create up to 589,000 new American jobs and have the most positive impact on U.S. jobs and wages of any trade agreement that the Commission has ever reviewed.

The new agreement is also a major bipartisan victory, incorporating ideas from both Democrats and Republicans to get the best deal possible for America’s workers.

“The strong and overwhelming support the USMCA received from both parties in Congress—as well as from labor unions, business organizations, and champions of agriculture—shows just how much this trade agreement will benefit all Americans,” President Trump said in a statement today.

🎬 Secretary Perdue: USMCA changes things by leveling the playing field

Starting today, the USMCA will begin addressing longstanding trade imbalances across American industries. For example, in the automotive sector alone:
75 percent of qualifying vehicles must now be genuinely produced in North America, reducing the motive to outsource parts to low-cost countries

40-45 percent of a vehicle must be built by workers making an average of at least $16 an hour, preserving more jobs for American workers

$34 billion in new automotive manufacturing investments are expected in the United States over the next 5 years

That’s just one industry. USMCA is leveling the playing field for American farmers, ranchers, manufacturers, and businesses all across our economy, too.

The United States has the best labor force of any country on Earth. Our workers don’t ask for much—only the opportunity to compete fairly for good jobs at honest wages. With NAFTA in the rearview mirror, a new era in American trade begins today.

“I keep my promises,” President Trump says.

See President Trump’s statement on the end of NAFTA.

Secretary Perdue: USMCA is a huge win for American agriculture

Facebook, Vandalism

(Vandalism) Here today, GONE tomorrow! It breaks my heart to watch as Jesus becomes the next item on the list of things to be erased. There are actually people who feel it’s their civic duty to destroy the things people work so hard to build. This is all because it has been deemed “offensive”? Where’s my safe space? Where’s this mutual respect I hear so much about, even if you have an opposing viewpoint? The truth is our safe space is not found in the political narrative that’s been neatly divided and served up as option “A” or “B”. I choose “C” for Christ. That’s my safe space. Am I mad? Nope! I am motivated, however, to spend more time exercising the religious freedoms I do have. I will spend more time, God willing, on the streets of Ocean City and where ever else God sends me proclaiming the Good News of the gospel. Get energized Church! Time is shorter than it was yesterday and yet the laborers are still few! Turn off your televisions and video games and train your children. Get involved with your Church family. Study scripture and pray that God will use you as part of a miracle in your community. If not now, when? I really hope when you take your last breath that your plan isn’t to tell Jesus that you just “shared” a post exemplifying a social injustice and tagged 10 people.

"White Lives Don't Matter" Academic: "I Resist Urges To Kneecap White Men"

More racist tweets by Cambridge University Professor Priyamvada Gopal have been unearthed, including one in which she spoke about her urge to “kneecap white men.”

Gopal caused controversy last week when she tweeted “white lives don’t matter,” prompting a petition demanding she be fired. However, Cambridge University responded by promoting her to a full professorship, despite the fact that the tweet was censored by Twitter for hate speech.

The media’s reaction was to portray Gopal as the victim of bullying while feigning infinitely greater outrage over a “white lives matter” banner that was flown over a soccer match in Manchester.

More hateful tweets have now been discovered, including one discussion where Gopal states, “I resist urges to kneecap white men every day. So, no **I** am the hero.”

Can @Cambridge_Uni please recognise that this is completely unacceptable and indefensible? How are her students supposed to feel safe? pic.twitter.com/Av6TPHWx0b— Emma Webb (@Emma_A_Webb) June 29, 2020

“Can @Cambridge_Uni please recognise that this is completely unacceptable and indefensible? How are her students supposed to feel safe?” asked Emma Webb.

“She’s racist. I think we need to stop this dumbass spiel that minorities cannot be racist because they absolutely can. She is racist and is getting away with because she’s not white. That’s just the fact of the matter,” remarked Dominique Samuels.

Maybe these messages will lead to another petition demanding Gopal’s removal. The first one was deleted by Change.org after receiving over 20,000 signatures.
