Over the next two days, the 75th anniversary of D-Day will be marked with solemn salutes for the undaunted courage of individual soldiers and sailors and the inspired leadership that assembled the armada that liberated Europe.
President Trump will take part in ceremonies in England and then in Normandy, France, where the German bunkers, bomb craters and the vast American cemetery stand in silent testament to the great alliance that came ashore and defeated Hitler.
Indeed it was great, perhaps the greatest wartime alliance in history, but could it be done again? If, God forbid, another Hitler were carving up Europe like warm bread, would a new international force respond to storm the beaches and save civilization?

BORDER PATROL MAKES LIFE-SAVING RESCUES AFTER MIGRANT SMUGGLERS REPORTEDLY DUMPED TWO DISABLED PEOPLE INTO A RIVER
Border Patrol was criticized for not better publicizing its rescue of two disabled migrants left for dead in the Rio Grande River, one of the most humanitarian recoveries made by the agency in recent time.
Agents with the Border Patrol Sector Search, Trauma, and Rescue (BORSTAR) team witnessed a group of 12 illegal immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border Thursday near the town of Eagle Pass, Texas. As the migrant group approached the river bank, smugglers dumped a handicapped individual, a double amputee missing one leg and one arm, into the water. Agents witnessed the individual immediately struggle to stay afloat in the river.
The BORSTAR team responded instantly, swimming out into the Rio Grande and saving the drowning victim before it was too late. Just as the agents were able to pull the person safely to the river bank, the migrant smugglers were reportedly seen throwing another disabled person — this time a paraplegic man— into the same area of the river.

Harris Supports Trump Administration Decision to End Inappropriate Use of Human Fetal Tissue in Research
WASHINGTON, DC: Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) supports the Trump Administration’s decision to discontinue a contract with the University of California, San Francisco to fund research involving human fetal tissue from elective abortions. This decision followed a comprehensive review that began in September 2018 of all Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) “research involving human fetal tissue from elective abortions to ensure consistency with statutes and regulations governing such research, and to ensure the adequacy of procedures and oversight of this research in light of the serious regulatory, moral, and ethical considerations involved.”
As a result of this review and audit, the Administration also decided to end all research requiring new fetal tissue at all National Institute of Health (NIH) labs and to increase ethical safeguards for extramural research using fetal tissue.
Rep. Harris supports the Administration’s decision to end these contracts, and made the following statement:
“I fully support the decision to end federal contracts, paid with taxpayer dollars, that inappropriately use aborted human fetal tissue for testing protocols and research. It is an abuse of taxpayer monies when we commercialize the use of fetal tissue from abortions.”
Prosecutor: Mom killed baby with fentanyl in sippy cup so she could 'relax and smoke marijuana'
PITTSBURGH —A Pennsylvania jury on Tuesday found a woman from Pittsburgh guilty of involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of her baby, who died after drinking fentanyl that was in the child's sippy cup.
Jhenea Pratt, 23, was found not guilty of first-degree homicide and third-degree homicide, which were possible alternative guilty verdicts on the general homicide charge.
Pratt showed no emotion in the wake of the verdict. Her court-appointed attorney, Brandon Herring, said Pratt has always said she never intentionally killed her daughter, 17-month-old Charlette Napper-Talley.

Biological Man Who Beat Women in Cycling Complains About 'Toxic Masculinity'
This weekend, a biological male who identifies as a transgender woman and who won a global cycling championship last year complained about how "toxic masculinity" makes women feel uncomfortable. Some feminists found this remarkably ironic.
"Toxic masculinity includes not being able to recognize when women are deeply uncomfortable with your behavior or presence," Rachel McKinnon, an assistant professor of philosophy at the College of Charleston in South Carolina, tweeted. McKinnon became infamous for winning the gold medal in the women's 35-54 age group in the 2018 Masters Track Cycling World Championships.
"It's definitely NOT fair," Jennifer Wagner, the third-place finisher from Houston, Texas, said in a tweet responding to British conservative Katie Hopkins. Hopkins tweeted an image of the three cyclists on the championship podium. "For clarity — this was the WOMENS world championships. I repeat. Women's. Congratulations to the brave faces of silver and bronze. The world is gripped by febrile madness," Hopkins had tweeted.

Ten Plagues of California Are Turning The Golden State into a Third-World Hell Hole
In your typical Third-World megalopolis, basic city functions fall into disrepair, while once-eradicated diseases run rampant -- and the local bigwig boasts about saving the world.
Los Angeles is quickly becoming a typical Third-World megalopolis, and the rest of the state isn't far behind.
Yesterday the New York Post reported "rats running everywhere among piles of decaying garbage," in a "sprawling 50-block area that is believed to be the base for around 4,200 homeless people."
Local columnist Steve Lopez called his city a "giant trash receptacle" and asked, "Did someone turn back the calendar a few hundred years?” No, Steve, the city government turned hard left is all. Although debate fans might note that that's a distinction without a difference.

Pope Francis Approves a Key Change to the Lord's Prayer
Last month, Pope Francis approved a change in the wording of the Lord's Prayer, the prayer Jesus taught His followers to pray (Matthew 6:9-15). Francis rejected the traditional language "lead us not into temptation," replacing it with "do not let us fall into temptation." This switch also cuts against the plain translation of the original Greek. Some Roman Catholics have spoken out against the change, which goes against tradition and separates them from Protestants.
Francis approved a third edition revision of the Italian Missal, as announced on May 22 during the General Assembly of the Episcopal Conference of Italy. The revised translation will include changes to both the Lord's Prayer and the Gloria, uCatholic reported.
The Gloria, which begins "Glory to God in the highest. And on earth peace to men of good will," will change from "Peace on earth to people of good will" to "Peace on Earth to people beloved by God." This change is more defensible, since the original Greek of Luke 2:14 is closer to "on earth peace among men with whom [God] is pleased." This change does still reject the traditional interpretation, however.

Politico Falsely Claims Pastor ‘Apologizes’ for Trump Prayer; Congregants Support Him
Politico claimed Monday that Pastor David Platt of McLean Bible Church had apologized to congregants for his decision to pray for President Donald Trump during the latter’s impromptu Sunday visit. But congregants are backing the pastor — and it is not clear that he actually apologized.
Trump visited the church Sunday to pray for the victims of Friday’s workplace shooting in Virginia Beach before leaving for the United Kingdom. Pastor Platt prayed for Trump and asked his congregation to do the same: “We pray that [the president] would look to You, that he would trust in You, he would lean on You … That he would govern and make decisions in ways that are good for justice, and good for righteousness and good for equity, every good path.”
Later, the pastor posted a statement about the president’s visit on the church’s website, and its Facebook page:
Based on this text [1 Timothy 2:1-6], I know that it is good, and pleasing in the sight of God, to pray for the president. So in that moment, I decided to take this unique opportunity for us as a church to pray over him together. My aim was in no way to endorse the president, his policies, or his party, but to obey God’s command to pray for our president and other leaders to govern in the way this passage portrays.
It is that statement that Politico cited to claim that the pastor had “apologized” to his congregants.

Time For Conservatives To Get Ruthless Fighting For Free Speech
Liberals, having lost the battle of ideas because their crummy, corrupt collectivist ideas suck, want to ban our ideas because people are naturally going to choose our ideas over theirs. Well, normal people are, because we know we would pick up the tab for their Utopia. The thing about leftists is that their ideas about the need for command and control over every aspect of human life always presume they will be the ones personally commanding and controlling. You will never meet a young socialist who looks forward to a proletarian career picking up garbage or cleaning toilets.
Here’s the undeniable fact: Liberals are actively pro-censorship. They scoff at this fact because everyone knows that it’s the liberals who are open-minded and us conservatives who seek to muzzle the yearning voices of the masses. But, as you should presume about absolutely everything a liberal says is, this too is a lie.
Liberals love censorship.
They already practice it in Europe. In Britain, you can be arrested for tweeting things, which is yet another cautionary example of why we citizens should never, ever give up our guns.

University created false story about student death, documents show
When an international student attending the University of Missouri-Kansas City was killed last year during a robbery at a restaurant, university officials said publicly that he was at the business to help family friends - rather than working there - because they were concerned the details would affect their international student enrollment, according to a newspaper report.
Sharath Koppu was fatally shot last July at J’s Fish and Chicken Market in Kansas City. Police and his relatives said he was working at the restaurant but university officials announced he was there “assisting family friends.” They stuck to that story until last week, when they acknowledged they didn’t know if the story was accurate, The Kansas City Star reported .
Documents obtained through an open records request show university officials created the false story because they were concerned Koppu, who was from India, was violating his F1 visa by working off-campus. That could have caused a federal investigation and put the university’s international student enrollment at risk, The Star reported.
A public statement signed by Chancellor Mauli Agrawal began this way:
“To the UMKC Community: It is my sad duty to inform you that a member of our community was killed Friday evening during an armed robbery at the restaurant where he was assisting family friends..”

Alabama Bill Aims To Punish False Accusations Of Rape. Media Cries Foul.
In the age of #MeToo, we’re supposed to believe all women when they make accusations of a sexual nature, but as I have shown timeand time and time again, that is simply not true. Even when an accusation is proven to be false, via text or video evidence, the false accuser faces little to no consequences. Certainly far fewer consequences than the person falsely accused faces.
Alabama State Rep. E. Richard “Dickie” Drake (R-Leeds) is trying to change that. Earlier this month, Drake introduced AL HB544, a bill that would punish false accusations of sexual crime. As it stands, false accusers are only charged with filing a false police report, a misdemeanor. Drake’s bill would make it a Class C felony to “willfully, knowingly, and with malicious intent,” make “a false report of rape in the first degree, sodomy in the first degree, or sexual torture.” The allegations would need to be proven false in order for the accuser to be punished.
The bill also makes it a Class A misdemeanor to “willfully, knowingly, and with malicious intent” make a “false report of rape in the second degree, sodomy in the second degree, sexual misconduct, sexual abuse in the first degree, sexual abuse in the second degree, indecent exposure, enticing child to enter vehicle, house etc., for immoral purposes, sexual abuse of a child under 12, or foster parent engaging in a sex act, etc., with a foster child.” Again, the allegations would need to be proven untrue.

Somalis have Changed Minneapolis
Everyone not lying to themselves predicted when the federal government under Bill Clinton – aided and abetted by Lutheran Social Services, Catholic Charities and World Relief Minnesota -- plopped 30,000 Somalis down into the midst of the kind, virtue-signaling, eager-to-help Midwesterners of Minneapolis (of which I am one) that it would lead to some grave consequences for our community.
Now, due to continuing refugee placements as well as chain migration there are an estimated 80,000 Somalis living in the Twin Cities metro area, or more like 79,000 if you subtract those who’ve left the country to join terrorist organizations like ISIS.
Anyhoo, here’s a week Minneapolitans had with their Somali neighbors last month:

DODGEBALL IS A TOOL OF OPPRESSION, RESEARCHERS SAY
A team of Canadian researchers are set to lecture teachers about the moral dangers of dodgeball, a sport they say teaches kids to single out and violently dominate weaker students.
Dodgeball is a tool of “oppression” and “miseducative,” the researchers say in the abstract of a paper cited by the National Post, which they will present in Vancouver at the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, a summit for thousands of academics happening in early June. The “hidden curriculum” it teaches students is out of step with the larger curriculum, they argue.
“As we consider the potential of physical education to empower students by engaging them in critical and democratic practices, we conclude that the hidden curriculum is antithetical to this project, even when it reflects the choices of the strongest and most agile students,” the abstract reads.

First, They Came for Mark Twain. Now, They're Coming for Mel Brooks
Forty-five years ago, Mel Brooks made what many critics agree is the single, funniest film in Hollywood history. Blazing Saddles is not only an iconic comedy, but its social message about racism is also among the finest examples of using satire to make a serious point that you could find.
Now, four decades after it was released, the film has come under fire by social justice warriors because of its portrayal of white racism as comedy. Indeed, it's hysterically funny.

Deroy Murdoch:
This film concerns a black man (Cleavon Little as Sheriff Bart) who overcomes the severe, nearly fatal racial bigotry of a rustic town full of white people, mainly named Johnson.
The only way to present the adversity over which he triumphs is to present the adversity over which he triumphs. This involves the citizens of Rock Ridge very liberally hurling the N-bomb and other ethnic slurs.

Dem Rep Illustrates Standard Anti-Gun Stupidity Following Virginia Beach
Anti-gun politicians have a standard script they tend to follow in the wake of a mass shooting. It seems that no matter what gun control bill they’re advancing, that is the key to averting the mass shooting. It doesn’t matter if the killer used a handgun, and the bill in question only impacts AR-15s, the bill is the answer.
Every time.
A prime example can be found in the wake of the Virginia Beach shooting last week. It seems Democratic Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NJ) knows just what bill would prevent the next Virginia Beach.
The problem?
The Virginia Beach killer purchased his .45 caliber handguns legally. There’s no evidence to suggest such a regulation would have had any impact on the killer. There’s ample evidence to believe it wouldn’t have had any.

House Democrats Seek to Kill Small Nuclear Warhead
Anti-nuclear Democrats on the House Armed Services Committee are attempting to kill the Trump administration's use of small nuclear warheads on missiles in proposed legislative restrictions this week.
The committee's strategic forces subcommittee on Monday released its legislative language proposed by the chairman, Rep. Jim Cooper (D., Tenn.), for the nuclear arms portion of the fiscal 2020 defense authorization bill. The legislation would prohibit the Pentagon from using any funds to produce the W76-2 low-yield missile warhead.
The chairman's mark will be debated and voted on beginning Tuesday and also contains other provisions that would limit the administration's plan to modernize the aging U.S. nuclear arsenal.
It is not clear whether the restrictive language on the converted warhead will be accepted or whether the restriction would survive a future House-Senate conference on the final legislation where differences between Democrats and Republicans on the two versions authorization bill are worked out. Senate Republicans, the majority party, are expected to oppose the warhead curbs.

Black man is called the N-word and social justice idiots make him apologize to trans people
The social justice movement was destined to progress to the point where a gay black man who’s been called the N-word is forced to endure his own personal struggle session because he wasn’t adequately sensitive to some other group deemed to be even more oppressed.
We’ve arrived!
Craig Brooks, 26, posted a video Sunday on Twitter that showed him manning the front desk at a Holiday Inn Express in Austin, Texas, and denying room check-in to a woman who he said he had just previously overheard call him the N-word over the phone.
“I said I was sorry,” you can hear the woman pleading to Brooks.
He replies, “I understand that, but it’s above me now.” He tells her to try checking in at a different hotel nearby.
The video went viral online for what appears to be a class act on the part of Brooks, who is both black and gay.
But shortly after garnering the positive attention online, some people on Twitter dug up old tweets by Brooks wherein he criticized transgenderism as confusing and unnatural.

AOC-Linked PAC Questioned on Contributions
A political action committee linked to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y) is being questioned on potentially impermissible contributions that it made to a number of Democratic committees last year, according to a letter from the Federal Election Commission.
The FEC sent a request for additional information to the Justice Democrats PAC, a far-left group that helped elect Ocasio-Cortez to Congress, on May 30 after conducting its preliminary review of the PAC's amended July quarterly report from 2018. Ocasio-Cortez was listed as a governor of the group until recently.
The FEC states that the amended report from Justice Democrats disclosed one or more contributions to federal candidates for the "retirement of debts incurred during the 2018 Primary election campaign" and that the committees that received the payments themselves had "insufficient debts to warrant such a contribution" from the PAC.

House Dems move to give lawmakers a pay increase
House Democrats will move forward with legislation to give members of Congress their first pay bump in a decade.
The House is expected to vote next week on a $1 trillion spending package that includes funding for annual legislative branch operations. That measure does not include language in effect since 2010 that prevented members of Congress from receiving an annual cost-of-living salary increase.
The House Appropriations Committee also unveiled an annual spending bill this week for financial services, executive branch and general government operations that similarly does not include the language to block a cost-of-living increase.
“An automatic cost of living adjustment for members of Congress is already included in federal law. There is strong bipartisan support for these modest inflation adjustments, and the Appropriations Committee is not including a provision to block the [cost-of-living adjustment] in fiscal year 2020 appropriations bills," House Appropriations Committee spokesman Evan Hollander said.

Democrats want to tax the wealthy, but not in blue states
Here's a question: if Democrats want "Medicare for all," much increased college tuition support, and a "Green New Deal," how can they possibly backtrack on the mild tax hike that President Trump's tax bill imposed on wealthy citizens in blue states?
I'm referring to the reduced state and local tax deduction caps under the 2017 Republican tax reform legislation. The SALT deduction, as it is known, forced federal income taxpayers in states such as Florida and Tennessee, which don't have state income taxes, to pay proportionally more to the federal government than residents of states with high income taxes. That was wrong. By capping the deduction and lowering rates for everyone, Trump's tax bill made the system fairer, reducing taxes overall while eliminating a massive loophole for very wealthy individuals in high-tax states.
But I find it amusing, as CNBC notes, Democrats from high state income tax California, New Jersey, New York, and Illinois are working to increase the SALT caps. In other words, Democrats are now working urgently to cut tax bills for high-earners in Westchester, N.Y., Lake, III., and Los Angeles, Calif., counties.

Seven Republicans Voted for Illegal Alien Amnesty
Seven Republicans bucked the party line on Tuesday and voted with House Democrats to grant illegal aliens amnesty.
Seven House Republicans voted for the Americans Dream and Promise Act of 2019, which would grant amnesty to more than two million illegal immigrants.
The legislation would grant illegal immigrants ten years of legal residence status if they were to meet specific requirements, after which they would receive permanent green cards after completing two years of higher education or military service, or after working for three years.
Only seven Republicans voted in favor of the amnesty bill, while no Democrats voted against the legislation.

Pastor says he 'hurt' congregation by praying for Trump during unscheduled visit
The pastor of a Northern Virginia church has acknowledged hurting some in his congregation by praying for President Trump when the president made an unscheduled stop at his church on Sunday.
Pastor David Platt of McLean Bible Church in Vienna said he made the decision in haste and he did not intend his prayer to be an endorsement of Mr. Trump or any political stance.
“Sometimes we find ourselves in situations that we didn’t see coming, and we’re faced with a decision in a moment when we don’t have the liberty of deliberation, so we do our best to glorify God,” Mr. Platt said in a statement to church members. “I found myself in one of those situations.”
Referring to the biblical passage of 1 Timothy 2:1-6, the pastor said, “My aim was in no way to endorse the president, his policies, or his party, but to obey God’s command to pray for our president and other leaders to govern in the way this passage portrays.”
“I know that some within our church, for a variety of valid reasons, are hurt that I made this decision,” the pastor said. “This weighs heavy on my heart. I love every member of this church, and I only want to lead us with God’s Word in a way that transcends political party and position, heals the hurts of racial division and injustice, and honors every man and woman made in the image of God.”
The pastor told his congregation that the president’s visit surprised him.
“At the end of my sermon at the 1:00 worship gathering, I stepped to the side for what I thought would be a couple of moments in quiet reflection as we prepared to take the Lord’s Supper,” he said. “But I was immediately called backstage and told that the president of the United States was on his way to the church, would be there in a matter of minutes, and would like for us to pray for him."

Alabama lawmakers pass chemical castration bill for convicted child molesters
MONTGOMERY, Ala. —Under a bill recently passed by Alabama lawmakers, a court would order chemical castration for someone convicted of a sex crime against a child under the age of 13.
State Rep. Steve Hurst introduced the bill. If signed by Gov. Kay Ivey, it would require that child sex offenders ages 21 and over be chemically castrated before leaving prison.
"They have marked this child for life and the punishment should fit the crime," Hurst said, WIAT-TVreported, adding that he hopes it will make predators think twice.
According to the legislation, the Alabama Department of Public Health would give medication that reduces or blocks testosterone production.
State Rep. Juandalynn Givan said the proposed legislation is far-reaching.

VERIFY: The $1.9 billion that never was | Here's why the casino money Maryland schools expected never came through
When casinos were legalized in Maryland, voters were promised hundreds of millions of extra dollars for school funding. That didn't happen.
A viewer reached out to the Verify team to find out what happened to the big windfall schools were supposed to get from casinos. Did schools get a big boost from slots revenue?
Our Verify researchers followed the money.
In 2008, when casinos and slot machines were legalized, and again in 2012 with table games, tax money was supposed to be collected and go straight into the Education Trust Fund.
That fund was intended to help enhance school programming and facilities. However, that didn’t happen the way voters thought it would, because of the way the law was written.

These Guys Are Planning A "Straight Pride Parade" In Boston
Boston officials say a group claiming they will hold a "straight pride parade" in the city this summer has not actually been granted a permit to do so after the so-called event went viral.
It all started with a group of men who call themselves "Super Happy Fun America." According to its website, the group exists to "celebrate the diverse history, culture, and contributions of the straight community."
Last week, the club's vice president, Mark Sahady, claimed on Facebook that the city of Boston would be "working with them" for the "straight pride parade." He also said the group had filed a "discrimination complaint" against the city and that officials understood they would "lose" in litigation.
Sahady added that the group was tentatively planning the parade for Aug. 31, and even provided a planned route.
"If you would like to come as an individual, march as a group, or bring a float or vehicle, then get in touch. This is our chance to have a patriotic parade in Boston as we celebrate straight pride," he wrote.

Pro-Gun Groups And Gun Rights Advocates React To Northam's Emergency Gun Control Meeting
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) on Tuesday called an emergency meeting to discuss control after Friday's tragic shooting in Virginia Beach that left 12 dead. Specifically Northam wanted ban all semi-automatic firearms (basically all guns), suppressors (which are heavily regulated already) and enact red flag laws.
Virginia House of Delegates Speaker Kirk Cox (R) disagreed with Northam's assessment.

The terrible shooting that occurred in Virginia Beach just four days ago is still painfully fresh for everyone, especially the 12 families that lost loved ones. First and foremost, we continue to pray for the victims, thank the first responders, and extend our gratitude to law enforcement for their dedication to the safety of that community.
The Governor’s call to Special Session is hasty and suspect when considered against the backdrop of the last few months. While the Governor can call a special session, he cannot specify what the General Assembly chooses to consider or how we do our work. We intend to use that time to take productive steps to address gun violence by holding criminals accountable with tougher sentences — including mandatory minimums.
Following the tragedy at Virginia Tech in 2007 and 2017’s shooting in Parkland, Florida, Virginia took a very deliberative approach that ultimately ended in substantive and bipartisan reforms to keep our communities safer. The governor’s call to Special Session is more likely to inflame political tensions than produce substantive public policy changes that will keep people safe.
