Travel Advisories From Local Police Agencies

Please use caution if you must travel today. Primary roads are in pretty good shape but some secondary roads are still snow covered. Temperatures will dip below freezing tonight causing wet roadways to freeze. Please allow a little extra time to get to your destination. As always be safe in your travels.

Snow should begin to taper off within the next couple of hours. Temperatures will linger around freezing through the early morning hours, before temperatures begin to fall and the winds pick up. Any moisture or slush on roadways will freeze with temperatures not expected to get above freezing again until Wednesday afternoon. Drive Slow and Stay Safe. If you see anyone on the roads in need of assistance call 410-957-1600 or dial 911.

Beware of hazardous road conditions today. Especially on the County Roads protected by woods on both sides. Snow has built up on those roadways. State Highway is salting Rt 413 and Rt 13. Best policy for today is if you don't have to absolutely go out just stay home. Roads in the northern end of the county seem worse than the southern end. Please be safe out there.

Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Press Release 1-17-16

On January 16, 2016 at approximately 1545 hours, Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the Berlin Wal-Mart for a theft complaint.

While en-route to Walmart, the Deputies were informed a white male and female had passed all points of sale, with numerous electronic and clothing goods. Dispatch further advised the female had been detained by Wal-Mart Asset Protection Associates, but the male had entered the back seat of a gold Chevrolet passenger car, and was attempting to leave the parking lot.

Upon arrival a Deputy observed the gold Chevrolet on Samuel Bowen BLVD, and conducted a traffic stop, and was assisted by Maryland State Troopers. A search of the vehicle produced numerous clothing and electronic goods, all of which still had tags attached. Another Deputy responded to Wal-Mart to meet with Wal-Mart Associates and the female. The Deputies identified the male and female as Charles Gilbert Summers IV, 25, and Helen May Summers, 38, both of Preston, Maryland.

Through investigation it was determined that Summers IV had passed all points of sale with clothing, DVD’s, CD’s, and other electronic merchandise totaling $337.42. It was also determined that Summers passed all points of sale with a 43 inch TV and clothing totaling $380.94. Both Summer IV and Summers were placed under arrest for theft less than $1,000.00. Summers IV and Summers were each issued a Maryland Criminal Citation, released on their signature, and are awaiting trial.

City Crews Respond to First Snow Accumulation of 2016

Salisbury – In response to the first snow accumulation of the year, salting of the City’s 7 snow emergency routes began at 1:00 p.m. this afternoon.

Forecast models indicate that the snow should begin to taper off around 3:30 p.m., with flurries lingering until 4:30 or 5:30 this afternoon. The snow comes ahead of a cold front which will cause temperatures to drop overnight into the 20’s. Director of Public Works Michael Moulds has reported that crews will continue to monitor the weather overnight, and will continue salting operations as conditions warrant.

If you must drive today, it is important to realize that the most slippery surfaces often do not appear as hazardous as they actually are. Bridges, overpasses and intersections are common areas where the pavement freezes faster than on ordinary roadways. Citizens are urged to exercise caution, slow down, and allow extra distance for braking.

Additionally, citizens are reminded that all property owners adjacent to any street within City limits are responsible for the removal of snow from their sidewalks. The snow must be removed for the entire length of the property for a width of four (4) feet. The removal must take place within six (6) hours after the snow has stopped falling. If snowfall ends between the hours of 5 p.m. and 7 a.m., then snow removal must occur before 2 p.m. The purpose of this ordinance is to provide the ability for our residents and visitors to move freely and safely throughout the City. The property owner is liable for any accidents which may occur as a result of un-cleared sidewalks. Please help us make the City of Salisbury safe during adverse weather conditions.

Emergency contact information for Salisbury Public Works during business hours from 8:00 to 4:30 is 410-548-3177. For service calls after hours please contact the Salisbury Police Department at 410-548-3165.

Wicomico County Executive Calls In The Troops

Wicomico County Executive Bob Culver made the call to bring in the Solid Waste Crew at 9:30 this morning to start laying down salt on the roads throughout the County. Snow Plow pickup trucks were also brought in to start clearing the roads.

With temperatures plummeting overnight along with high winds, road conditions are expected to be pretty bad, ice wise. Being proactive with the salt will minimize such bad conditions.

Hey Kids, Now Is A Perfect Time To Make Big Bucks

With two to three inches of snow now on the ground in Salisbury, and this snow expected to stay through the week and more on the way late in the week, there's a golden opportunity for industrious kids (and others) to get out with a snow shovel and clear sidewalks for a price.

The question is, how much should they charge for an average sidewalk and front walk?

The snow is fairly light now and not packed down, meaning that an average sidewalk (less than 100 feet) and front walk (about 40 feet), could be done inside of half an hour.

Salisbury's snow removal regulations call for the snow to be removed from public walks within 24 hours of the last snowfall.

2 Md. Men Reportedly Released From Prison As Part Of Deal With Iran

Ali Saboonchi, who lived in Parkville, was released just before 7 a.m., according to Jim Wyda, head of the federal public defenders office in Maryland, which represented Saboonchi. Saboonchi is "thrilled by his release and the opportunity to be reunited with his family. He looks forward to working hard to rebuild his career and his life," Wyda said in a statement.

Two Maryland men who were convicted of violating the U.S. trade embargo with Iran — one of whom helped the Islamic Republic launch its first satellite into space — are reportedly among those to be released from federal prison in the United States as part of a deal to free four Americans held in Iran.

Iranian media said that Ali Saboonchi, who lived in Parkville, and Nader Modanlou, who lived in Potomac, were among seven Iranians who would receive clemency as part of the agreement.

Major Complaints About Wicomico Humane Society

We have been receiving numerous complaints this week about the Wicomico Humane Society.

Salisbury News had published an article referencing the Director resigning his position to take another job with the County. Unfortunately, they have not fill that position and from what we are told, things are not going well there.

It should be noted, the Humane Society is autonomous. In other words, they do NOT answer to the County Executive or the County Council. The only powers the Executive and Council have is to decrease their funding.

Because we have received so many calls, I created this Post for those people who choose to express their experiences anonymously.

Is The Wicomico County Board Of Education Playing Russian Roulette With Your Children?

While all Schools in other states and Counties are being PROACTIVE by evacuating Students from each School receiving bomb threats, Wicomico County continues to be under fire from Parents extremely upset their children were not escorted out of their Schools.

I can tell you, even in the 1960's we did constant drills to make sure everyone exited the Schools in an orderly fashion. That being said, why the heck do they still have these drills if they aren't going to take even the most serious of threats seriously?

In the wake of all these School horrors, someone, (in my opinion) needs to be held accountable. What do you think?

Not Only Were Kids Not Evacuated, Wicomico County Never Brought In Bomb Dogs Either

Yesterday we challenged local officials of playing Russian Roulette with your children by not evacuating students from two Wicomico County Schools.

Today we have learned that bomb dogs were not brought in to School to assure there were in fact no bombs present.

Some of you are challenging me because I have challenged local officials on behalf of the MAJORITY of Parents who are scared to death that this has happened to their children.

For 11 years I've been sitting here listening to Liberal Board of Education people constantly saying, "IT'S ABOUT THE CHILDREN". Actions like this PROVE these people are completely full of BS. It's about the children when they want something and that includes the Sheriff's Department. Speed Cameras are a perfect example. County Resource Officers being hired to protect the schools. They are bought and sold and not removing the children from the schools proves just that. It's all about the money.

This Eastern Shore is just a joke. I wonder if Parents will actually stand up and actually protect their own children?

A. Yes or No
B. Yes or No
C. Yes or No.

Is ISIS Behind The Bomb Threat Robocalls On The Eastern Shore?

This is certainly something we can not dismiss. If there's one place that will put the fear of God in Americans it would be to attack a public school. Hence my personally being extremely upset that the Wicomico County Superintendent John Fredericksen leaving ALL children in the heart of a possible Ground Zero.

Can we actually take any more risks with this man? I personally have more information the general public is not aware of that could play a role in these incidents being far more serious then you know.

I have assured authorities I will not disclose the information until they have determined it is or isn't a possible threat. One thing I can assure you of though, Fredericksen is NOT aware of what I know.

All that being said, it really doesn't matter. The BOE has a protocol to follow and they are refusing to do so. As my earlier Post stated, someone needs to be held accountable and this kind of behavior needs to stop immediately.

Can you Find The 9 Bands From the 90's In This Picture?

Sorry, no answer to this just yet. You will have to try to figure them out on your own.  I will give the answers later of any that you don't figure out.
