Group calls for federal probe of Confederate flag supporter's death
JACKSON, Miss. (Reuters) - The Sons of Confederate Veterans asked the U.S. Justice Department on Wednesday to look into a car crash in Mississippi that killed an outspoken African-American defender of the Confederate flag.
Anthony Hervey, 49, author of "Why I Wave the Confederate Flag: Written by a Black Man," was killed on Sunday when the Ford Explorer he was driving to his home in Oxford, Mississippi, from a Confederate flag rally left the road and overturned.
The passenger in the car with him told local media there was a silver car occupied by several African-American men chasing them and may have run them off the road.
Hervey often sat at the Confederate memorial on the Oxford town square, sometimes wearing a Confederate uniform and waving a battle flag. He addressed crowds all over the United States and in Europe.

Two Big Surprises Inside New Poll About Americans’ Views on Gay Marriage and Religious Liberty
An Associated Press-GfK poll conducted between July 9 and July 13 — just weeks after gay marriage was nationally legalized — yielded at least two surprising results: America’s support for same-sex nuptials is down slightly from earlier this year, and support for religious exemptions for wedding-related businesses has increased since April 2015.
Forty-four percent favored same-sex marriage in their state in January, with that proportion increasing to 48 percent in April, but it was down to just 42 percent in the most recent research wave; 40 percent now oppose same-sex marriage.
As for the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges that legalized same-sex nuptials across the nation, 39 percent of respondents approved, with 41 percent expressing disagreement, the Associated Press reported.

Williams: Historical Ignorance II
We call the war of 1861 the Civil War. But is that right? A civil war is a struggle between two or more entities trying to take over the central government. Confederate President Jefferson Davis no more sought to take over Washington, D.C., than George Washington sought to take over London in 1776. Both wars, those of 1776 and 1861, were wars of independence. Such a recognition does not require one to sanction the horrors of slavery. We might ask, How much of the war was about slavery?
Was President Abraham Lincoln really for outlawing slavery? Let's look at his words.
In an 1858 letter, Lincoln said, "I have declared a thousand times, and now repeat that, in my opinion neither the General Government, nor any other power outside of the slave states, can constitutionally or rightfully interfere with slaves or slavery where it already exists." In a Springfield, Illinois, speech, he explained: "My declarations upon this subject of Negro slavery may be misrepresented but cannot be misunderstood. I have said that I do not understand the Declaration (of Independence) to mean that all men were created equal in all respects." Debating Sen. Stephen Douglas, Lincoln said, "I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes nor of qualifying them to hold office nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races, which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality."
What about Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation?

‘We Are At War Right Here In This Country’
Choking back tears, parents whose children were slain by illegal immigrants said Tuesday the federal government and so-called sanctuary cities both share blame for their children’s deaths, and pleaded with Congress for an all-out effort to secure the border and deport those who already snuck in.
“I don’t want your sympathy, I want you to do something,” demanded Laura Wilkerson, whose 18-year-old son was strangled, had his throat smashed and his body lit on fire by an illegal immigrant trained in mixed martial arts. “Quit sitting silent because it’s going to help you get a vote.”
The lawmakers, who said they were moved by the testimony of Ms. Wilkerson and a handful of others who recounted their relatives’ murders, vowed to take action and trained much of their criticism on San Francisco, whose sanctuary policy protected an illegal immigrant whom police have accused of killing 32-year-old Kathryn Steinle earlier this month as she walked on Pier 14 with her father.
Tuesday’s hearing grew heated at one point as the victims’ families were leaving the witness table and Ms. Saldana and her counterpart, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Leon Rodriguez, took their seats.

Trooper Involved Pedestrian Crash
New Castle, DE - The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a crash in which a pedestrian was injured this morning.
The preliminary investigation revealed the incident happened at approximately 8:42 a.m., Thursday July 23, 2015, as a 23 year old Delaware State Trooper assigned to Troop 2 patrol, was operating a fully marked 2012 Chevrolet Caprice Police Cruiser and was traveling westbound on Memorial Drive and was the second car stopped at the red light. Once the traffic light turned green the traffic started to make the left turn onto US 13 southbound. The vehicle, in front of the police cruiser stopped suddenly once it turned onto US 13. The police cruiser also suddenly stopped behind the first vehicle. When the traffic began to move forward again, the police cruiser also began to move again and the front right bumper struck the pedestrian in the right lane who then fell to the ground. The police cruiser immediately stopped in the right lane of US 13 southbound.
The pedestrian was transported by EMS to the Christiana Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Trooper was properly seat belted at the time of the crash and was uninjured.
It was learned the pedestrian, Dajuan Saunders, 26 of New Castle, had just gotten off of a DART bus at the bus stop on US 13 and started to cross the road right where he stepped off the bus and was struck. The pedestrian was directly in front of an enclosed bus stop shelter. Also, approximately 50’ north of the bus stop is a marked crosswalk with functioning pedestrian crossing signals, which the pedestrian did not utilize.
This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Meet the 41 Companies That Donate Directly to Planned Parenthood
In the wake of two videos allegedly showing Planned Parenthood officials discussing the sale of aborted fetal body parts, Republicans in Congress are working to ensure that Planned Parenthood is stripped of its federal funding.
However, it’s not only the government that fills Planned Parenthood’s coffers. According to 2nd Vote, a website and app that tracks the flow of money from consumers to political causes, more than 25 percent of Planned Parenthood’s $1.3-billion annual revenue comes from private donations, which includes corporate contributions.
2nd Vote researched the corporations and organizations to find which supported Planned Parenthood and found that more than three dozen donated to the group. Some companies donated directly, while others matched employee gifts.
Forty-one corporations and organizations directly contribute to the group.

Judge rejects Berlin Fire Dept. motion
The Berlin Fire Company’s motion for a partial summary judgment in the Zackary Tyndall case that alleges that he was harassed was denied last Thursday by U.S. District Court Judge Ellen Lipton Hollander.
Hollander’s rejection of the motion came just short of two years after Tyndall, a former fire company employee, filed his harassment complaint in August 2013.
In Lipton’s 63-page opinion, she said the case concerned allegations of employment discrimination and “intentional infliction of emotional distress” against two former coworkers of Tyndall, Bryon Trimble and Derrick Simpson.
Tyndall contended that he was fired in retaliation for reporting certain activities at the department, including his contention that the defendants created a hostile work environment that led to his severe depression.

MIKULSKI, CARDIN ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $4.2 MILLION IN FEDERAL FUNDING TO GIVE STUDENTS THE TOOLS THEY NEED TO SUCCEED IN HIGHER EDUCATION
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Barbara A. Mikulski and Ben Cardin (both D-Md.) today announced that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded a total of $4,281,717 in grants to 15 institutes of higher education across Maryland to provide first generation college students of modest means with the tools and services they need to succeed. The grants were awarded through the Student Support Services (SSS) Program.
“Education is the opportunity ladder of this nation. Every child deserves their chance to get a foothold on that ladder,” Senator Mikulski said. “In order to out-innovate the rest of the world, we must first out-educate. These grants will ensure that students across Maryland, regardless of the zip code they grew up in, have the tools they need to succeed.”
“No student should be priced out of a quality higher education that will allow them to pursue their dreams, but affording tuition is only one hurdle many students must overcome. The Student Support Service Program helps level the playing field for Americans who otherwise, through no fault of their own, might face seemingly insurmountable obstacles in achieving their academic goals,” said Senator Cardin. ”The federal government is investing in our nation’s future by investing in a holistic approach to helping students learn how to succeed.”

The scam is called card cracking and it may start off innocently enough. You see a post on a social media site announcing a contest. Or maybe a webpage that claims to have a celebrity affiliation is offering a gift card giveaway. The variations are endless, but here’s the tip-off that fraud is afoot. At some point, you’re asked for your bank account information, PIN number, or online banking credential. That’s when you can bank on the fact that those “innocent” offers aren’t what they’re cracked up to be.
How does the scam work? Once card crackers have access to your account, they deposit multiple checks – usually remotely – and then make quick ATM or money order withdrawals. The goal is to get the cash in hand before the bank figures out the checks are phony.
That form of card cracking works like other scams involving the unauthorized use of your account data. You turn over your information for one purpose only to find out that scammers have used it for their own benefit.

Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch Delivers Remarks at White House Convening on School Discipline
Remarks as prepared for delivery
Thank you, Administrator [Bob] Listenbee, for that kind introduction and for your extraordinary leadership of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. I want to express my gratitude to President Obama and the White House staff for making this convening possible. I want to recognize Secretary [Arne] Duncan and the Department of Education for their steadfast partnership in advancing this vital work. And I want to thank each of you for the commitment you have made to keeping students in their classrooms and out of the criminal justice system and for the strides you are making in your schools and communities to promote fair, effective discipline practices. It is a pleasure to be here with you today and a privilege to join so many outstanding educators, dedicated state and local officials and passionate stakeholders in the work that we share.
I could not be more proud to participate in this important event – because it speaks to one of the main priorities of the Department of Justice: making sure that all of our nation’s young people have a real opportunity to grow and to thrive, no matter who they are, what they look like or where they’re from. That’s a commitment that we’ve made and delivered on throughout the last six years of the Obama Administration and that we continue to fulfill today. Through President Obama’s “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative, we’re bringing together public and private organizations to address opportunity gaps that prevent too many of our young people from realizing their potential. Through our National Forum on Youth Violence Prevention, we are helping young people escape the trap of youth and gang violence and giving them a chance to succeed. We are also working in cities across America, through the department’s Defending Childhood Initiative, to make sure our children’s futures are defined by their determination, unique skills and personal goals – and not limited by the circumstances of their birth. And through meetings like this one and a range of actions around the country, we are fighting to give all of our young people the safe and nurturing educational environments that they need discover their potential, recognize their worth and expand their horizons.

Animal Rights Advocate Roland Windsor Vincent Calls for Extermination of Conservatives
Like a lot of animal rights kooks, Roland Windsor Vincent is one scary moonbat. Below are excerpts from his essay entitled “Protect the Animals and the Environment. Shoot Republicans”:
The enemy of animals and the environment is capitalism. And capitalism is the status quo. It is defended by Republicans and conservatives.
His recommended punishment for defending economic freedom and the wealth it has generated is death.
For animal activists who believe that animals have as much right to live as do humans, the lives of those who consume animals are expendable. Expendable because any animal which requires the suffering and deaths of other animals is expendable. Predators are expendable. So are humans who think they are. And one would be hard pressed to find many vegans among Republicans or conservatives.
His recommended punishment for not being a vegan is also death.

Man Finds Out His Wife Was Cheating. What He Did Next? PRICELESS [Video]
Well, if you are going to cheat on your spouse, expect to pay the price. On the one hand, this is pretty cold. On the other, she probably deserves it. She must have really hurt this guy for him to wait for the perfect time to kick her out. And I’m betting he has absolute proof she was dancing in the sheets with someone else. The guy didn’t get angry – he got even. Her birthday surprise was having her things packed up and then he sprung it on her. He even put a balloon on her stuff for added emphasis. I see a divorce pending. Someone should of told her, cheaters never prosper.
A boyfriend has filmed the moment he got revenge on his girlfriend for allegedly cheating on him – by filming a fake birthday surprise for her.
In a clip uploaded to YouTube by Ryan Byford, which has now been viewed two million times, the US woman is given a towel to wear as a blindfold as her partner leads her into another room in their home, singing Happy Birthday.
However, when the woman, referred to as ‘Bianca’, removes her blindfold she realises all her possessions have been boxed up, and that her ‘big surprise’ is that she is being chucked out.
The video, which was uploaded by Ryan on July 17, begins with the man leading his unsuspecting girlfriend into their home as she holds a towel over her face.
She giggles nervously asking: ‘What’s going on?’
The man continues to lead her through the house reassuring her while reminding her: ‘No peeking!’
When they arrive to the room where the surprise is stored the man behind the camera begins to sing Happy Birthday to Bianca at which point she removes her blindfold.
She is presented with all of her belongings packed up in bags and boxes accompanied by a single balloon and to begin with she is unaware of what is going on, but soon enough the penny drops.
‘Are you packing my sh** up?’ she asks.
When the man confirms, Bianca asks why at which point he reveals that he believes she has been cheating on her.
He says: ‘Because I busted you cheating on me.’
What happens next is unclear as the video comes to an end before Bianca has a chance to respond.

Panic City at Camp Hillary: Now Hillary TRAILS three top Republicans in swing states Colorado, Iowa and Virginia as few voters say she’s ‘honest and trustworthy’
This is the beginning of the end for Madam Pantsuit. There’s only so much the corrupt media could spin for this pig in lipstick.
Daily Mail reports Hillary Clinton’s perception problems are catching up with her in three key battleground states, a new poll shows, opening the door to Republicans whom voters see as more believable and honest.
The Quinnipiac University Polling Institute surveyed voters in Colorado, Iowa and Virginia, and found three of the top-tier GOP presidential candidates would beat her there if the 2016 election were held today.
In a hypothetical 2016 matchup against former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Hillary trails against each of them in all three states.
Quinnipiac didn’t ask voters who they would pick if they had to choose between Clinton and billionaire Donald Trump, who leads his party’s field according to an ABC News/Washington Post poll released Monday.
But the pollsters found that Trump, the showman-like politician whom Democrats mock and newspaper editors crave, has an even steeper hill to climb than Hillary herself.

12 Ways The Economy Is Already In Worse Shape Than It Was During The Depths Of The Last Recession
Did you know that the percentage of children in the United States that are living in poverty is actually significantly higher than it was back in 2008? When I write about an “economic collapse”, most people think of a collapse of the financial markets.
And without a doubt, one is coming very shortly, but let us not neglect the long-term economic collapse that is already happening all around us. In this article, I am going to share with you a bunch of charts and statistics that show that economic conditions are already substantially worse than they were during the last financial crisis in a whole bunch of different ways. Unfortunately, in our 48 hour news cycle world, a slow and steady decline does not produce many “sexy headlines”. Those of us that are news junkies (myself included) are always looking for things that will shock us. But if you stand back and take a broader view of things, what has been happening to the U.S. economy truly is quite shocking. The following are 12 ways that the U.S. economy is already in worse shape than it was during the depths of the last recession…
#1 Back in 2008, 18 percent of all Americans kids were living in poverty. This week, we learned that number has now risen to 22 percent…

House Republican: Obama Administration Won’t Release Full Iran Deal to Congress
President Obama won’t allow Congress to review two key aspects of the Iranian Nuclear deal, Republican lawmakers learned from international partners last week.
Under the terms of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the International Atomic Energy Agency would negotiate separately with Iran about the inspection of a facility long-suspected of being used to research long-range ballistic missiles and nuclear weapons.
“The Obama administration has failed to make public separate side deals that have been struck for the ‘inspection’ of one of the most important nuclear sites—the Parchin military complex,” said Representative Mike Pompeo (R., Kan.) in a statement Tuesday. “Not only does this violate the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act, it is asking Congress to agree to a deal that it cannot review.”
The IAEA has been trying to gain access to the Parchin site since 2005, but Iran has refused, even as it apparently demolished various parts of the complex. “The hardliners do not want to grant any concessions unless Iran is suitably rewarded,” International Institute for Strategic Studies director Mark Fitzpatrick told the BBC in 2014, after reports emerged of explosions at the base.

Donald Trump’S Words Haven’T Killed Anyone Barack Obama’s And Hillary Clinton’S Actions Have
If you find Donald Trump’s comments about Sen. John McCain inappropriate and offensive, here are a few important questions for you:
Are Trump’s comments about McCain more important than our hero veterans being left on fake waiting lists to die by Obama’s Department of Veterans Affairs?
Are Trump’s comments about McCain more important than our hero soldiers left disarmed at military basesand recruitment centers, so they are helpless when attacked by armed terrorists?
(Mind you: THINGS that as a powerful U.S. senator, McCain failed to correct!)

Three Huge Reasons Why the Fed Cannot Let Rates Normalize
The Fed continues to dangle hints of a “rate hike” in front of investors… but the reality is that as far as any significant raise in rates, its hands are tied.
True, the Fed may raise rates from 0.25% to 0.3% or possible even 0.5% sometime in the next 24 months… but these moves will be largely symbolic.
There are three reasons for this:
1) There are over $555 trillion in interest-rate based derivatives trades sitting on the big banks balance sheets globally.
2) The US Dollar carry trade is over $9 trillion in size.
3) Many Western welfare states would go bankrupt if rates normalized.

Blackface performer plans fundraiser for 6 indicted Baltimore officers; FOP, NAACP object
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP/WJLA) - A former Baltimore police officer is planning to perform an Al Jolson routine in blackface to raise money for the six Baltimore officers who have been indicted in the death of Freddie Gray.
Bobby Berger, whose performances as Jolson created tension with the department in the 1980s, said Wednesday that 610 tickets have been sold in eight days at $45 each for the Nov. 1 fundraiser.
Berger says he doesn't believe there is anything racial about his routine.
But an attorney for the Baltimore City Fraternal Order of Police says officers don't support it. Michael Davey says it's put the officers in a bad position without their knowledge. Gray was black.

The War on Uber
Hillary Clinton gave a speech warning that the new “sharing economy” of businesses such as the rideshare company Uber is “raising hard questions about workplace protections.”
Democrats hate what labor unions hate, and a taxi drivers’ union hates Uber, too. Its NYC website proclaims, “Uber has the money. But we are the PEOPLE!”
The taxi cartels, which provide inferior service and are micromanaged by government, don’t like getting competition from efficient companies like Uber.
Clinton didn’t mention Uber by name, but we don’t have to wonder which company she meant. The New York Times reports that Clinton contacted Uber and told them her speech would threaten to “crack down” on companies that don’t treat independent contractors as full employees. Apparently, Democrats think something’s wrong if people are independent contractors.
But no driver is forced to work for Uber. People volunteer. They like the flexibility. They like getting more use out of their cars. It’s win-win-win. Drivers earn money, customers save money while gaining convenience and Uber makes money. Why does Clinton insist on interfering with that?
Clinton’s “social democrat” pal, New York’s Mayor Bill de Blasio, wants to crack down on Uber by limiting how many drivers they may hire. Uber cleverly responded with an app — a “de Blasio option” — that shows people how much longer they’d have to wait if de Blasio gets his way.
Good for Uber for fighting back. I wish more companies did.
Federal Express didn’t.

Could It Be True David Recor Got A Six Month Severance Package?
It has been reported that former Town Manager David Recor received a six month severance package to exit his position from Ocean City.
With the current and former City Council KNOWING their slush fund was depleting for the past eight years, your representatives knew very well that the multi million dollar reserves were disappearing fast, yet they did nothing over the past eight years to start cutting back.
Now Ocean City is faced with a massive, (record breaking) tax increase, so much so their asking the Courts to allow them to remove legislation that will allow them to increases taxes even more.
It's moves like this one above that is costing the taxpayers big time and it's no wonder the Mayor is saying he'll fill in Recor's position, THEY CAN'T AFFORD IT ANY OTHER WAY.
Just remember Folks, they knew they were in trouble eight years ago and you've seen the salaries we've been publishing for years in Ocean City. Some, (if not all) need to be held accountable. By the way, I was told this is being kept very quiet referencing Recor's severance package.

New Ocean City Beach Patrol Headquarters Celebrated
OCEAN CITY — With a nod to its storied past and the promise of a bright future, the Ocean City Beach Patrol and city officials cut the ribbon on the department’s brand new headquarters on the corner of Baltimore Avenue and Talbot Street on Tuesday morning.
The new 10,000-square-foot, three-story building replaces the patrol’s former cramped and aging headquarters nearby on Dorchester Street, which for decades housed the old Ocean City jail among other uses. While it is now the official headquarters for the Ocean City Beach Patrol, there is also space dedicated to the Ocean City Police bicycle units and other needs for the OCPD in the downtown area.
Groundbreaking on the $2 million building took place last September with a targeted opening date before this summer season. However, while it came in on budget, the project did run late into mid-July. All agreed on Tuesday it was worth the wait as they cut the ribbon and entered the new state-of-the-art facility for the first time for many.

A Compromise On Displaying The Confederate Flag
Last week, I wrestled with an idea that admittedly made me very uncomfortable: the possibility that for many defenders of racially loaded symbols like the Confederate battle flag and the Washington Redskins' brand, their affinity for these icons may be more understandable and — crucially — more relatable than many of us might like to admit.
"There are few symbols so inelastic and so static that they cannot be stretched to accommodate our own complicated, personal histories in ways that feel genuine and worth protecting," I wrote. "That's true even for loaded symbols like the Washington team's logo, and yeah, even the Confederate flag."
More than a few readers told me they were wholly unpersuaded — until they got to one specific anecdote in the story. It was about how a group of mostly black lawmakers in New Orleans quietly declined to change the name of New Orleans' first high school for black students, even though it bears the name of a notorious slave owner. It appears the school's name was spared because for many black folks in New Orleans who have passed through its doors in the generations since it was founded, changing the name would mean taking away some part of their cherished teenage memories. As I wrote, "It just happens that McDonogh 35 was named for a powerful racist, and so the solution seems clear: Pick something else, and move on.

Obama Blew the Chances of a Good Iran Deal
The most compelling argument the Obama administration is offering to boost what it acknowledges is a compromise nuclear deal with Iran is this: it’s better than the alternatives.
That sort of pragmatic point is appealing to members of Congress, particularly skeptical Democrats who are searching for ways to support their president and who are accustomed to voting for the lesser of evils in a real-politick world where the options are often bad, worse, even worse, and worst of all.
But the question remains: How did we get ourselves into the situation where there are no good options?
We did so by beginning the negotiations with three important concessions...

Intensive End-Of-Life Care On The Rise For Cancer Patients
Conversations about end-of-life care are difficult. But even though most people now take some steps to communicate their wishes, many may still receive more intensive care than they would have wished, a study published in July found.
The findings, published online in JAMA Oncology, came from an analysis of the Health and Retirement Study, a national survey of U.S. residents older than age 50. Researchers looked through the responses from the next of kin, usually a spouse or child, of 1,985 participants with cancer who died between 2000 and 2012.
The patients' family members responded to questions about how frequently patients had signed durable power of attorney documents or living wills or participated in end-of-life care conversations. Researchers then examined the association between those advance-care-planning activities and the treatment patients received at the end of life.
Over the study period, the use of durable power of attorney assignment, sometimes called a health care proxy, grew from 52 percent to 74 percent among participants. Small declines were reported in other planning activities — from 49 percent to 40 percent for living wills and 68 percent to 60 percent for end-of-life discussions. But those changes weren't statistically significant because the levels varied throughout the study period, says Dr. Amol Narang, a radiation oncologist at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the lead author of the study.

Alexander: If Black Lives REALLY Mattered...
In June, Hillary Clinton suggested the unthinkable. While visiting a black community church in Florissant, MO, she asserted that, in fact, “All lives matter.”
The backlash (or blacklash) was immediate, because leftist race-bait political hustlers claim exclusive rights over whose lives matter, and any Democrat who dares suggests anything other than “black lives matter” is subject to immediate reprimand.
After hearing Clinton’s remark, Rev. Renita Lamkin concluded, “That blew a lot of support that she may have been able to engender here.”
The sound bite “black lives matter” was born alongside the “hands up, don’t shoot” mantra after a black Ferguson thug was shot by a white police officer, and the St. Louis County Prosecutor (a Democrat) determined the shooting was justifiable self defense.
No matter. Political agendas trump facts, and the dishonest and disgraceful “hands up” myth persists to this day.
Last weekend, Democrat presidential contender Martin O'Malley, the former governor of the People’s Republic of Maryland, made the same egregious mistake at this year’s Netroots Nation convention of “progressive” political activists.
O'Malley’s address to the gathering was interrupted by attendees shouting, “Black lives matter!” He responded: “Black lives matter. White lives matter. All lives matter.”
Oops! The audience was rendered apoplectic — how could a “Nutroots” regular make such an appalling mistake?

Message From Governor Hogan's Facebook Page
Today is the fourth day of my second round of chemo and I’m feeling pretty good, all things considered. The outpouring of support since my diagnosis has been nothing short of incredible, and I appreciate each and every prayer and well wish more than I can say.
This experience has been one of the most difficult challenges I have faced in my life. The physical and emotional toll this disease takes, the fear, anxiety, and exhaustion it causes, is indescribable.
Yet as I reflect on my own journey so far, I fully recognize how blessed I am to have the support of not only my family and friends, but also an entire state. It is this support that gives me strength to carry on. And in recognizing this, I can’t help but think of the thousands of other families fighting this same battle, who may not have the benefit of kind words and encouragement such as I have received. Young or old, black or white, rich or poor – cancer does not discriminate.
Since beginning my campaign for governor over a year and a half ago, I’ve met thousands of Marylanders, and in doing so it has cemented my belief that we are a great state of compassionate, caring people who lift one another up in times of need.
Today, I humbly ask that those who support me also remember the thousands of others facing seemingly insurmountable odds, who are just as deserving of our love and support. Do what you can for them, whether it’s making a donation to a cancer-fighting charity, volunteering your time to help sick patients, preparing meals for a family in need, or simply saying a prayer. Thank you.

Alveda King to Congressional Black Caucus: Lead Investigations of Planned Parenthood
Dear Congressional Black Caucus, I am writing to you today because my heart is heavy over the deafening silence coming from you regarding a recent video that has gone viral exposing Planned Parenthood’s practice of harvesting and selling aborted babies’ body parts.
If they or anyone else had been exposed for harvesting and selling animal body parts, there would be such an outrage from the left and right. “Save the whales! Save the dolphins! Save the doggies and cats!” people would declare. But for some reason it seems to be okay to chop up the unborn babies and harvest their body parts.
It’s been a week since the video that shocked a nation was released and not a word from the CBC.
CBC, I ask you, “Are you so beholden to the abortion lobby that you are totally paralyzed and unable to garner the necessary will to denounce their behavior?”

O'Malley Pushed For Publicly Funded Hotel That's Been Losing Money
In 2008, construction was completed on the 757-room Baltimore Hilton, a $305 million publicly-funded hotel spearheaded by Baltimore’s mayor at the time, Martin O’Malley. The hotel, in seven years of operation, has never turned a profit. The best year of operation saw a $2.9 million loss.
“It’s the biggest boondoggle ever. It’s hemorrhaging money every year and has less-than-stellar performance,” Democratic Maryland state Sen. James Brochin told The Daily Caller.
Originally intended to draw revenue from a supposed untapped convention market in Baltimore, the Hilton Hotel project slowly began losing money when conventions passed on Baltimore for other locations such as Austin, Texas and nearby Washington, D.C.

Poll: 'Clinton Cash' Has Destroyed Hillary Clinton’s Credibility
A new Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday confirms that the bombshell revelations from the New York Times bestselling book Clinton Cash have blown a gaping hole in Hillary Clinton’s credibility and trustworthiness—even before a single dollar in negative campaign ads has been spent.
Quinnipiac University Poll assistant director Tim Malloy said Hillary Clinton’s numbers on honesty and trustworthiness “border on abysmal.”
The poll found Clinton losing to Republican presidential candidates Gov. Scott Walker,
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)
80%, and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush in head-to-head matchups in the key states of Virginia, Colorado, and Iowa.

Lawmakers Warn There Are Two Secret Side Deals to Iran Nuclear Agreement That Won’t Even Be Shared With Congress
Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) and Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Kansas) revealed on Tuesday that they were made aware of two secret side deals included in the Iran nuclear deal that will not be shared with Congress or the public.
The lawmakers reportedly met with the International Energy Agency in Vienna on Friday and were informed that “two side deals made between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the IAEA as part of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) will remain secret and will not be shared with other nations, with Congress, or with the public,” according to a press release.
One of the alleged secret deals involves the “inspection of the Parchin military complex,” and the second “details how the IAEA and Iran will resolve outstanding issues on possible military dimensions of Iran’s nuclear program,” the release added.

SBA Lending In Jeopardy
The Small Business Administration may put its most popular lending program on hold in a matter of weeks. The SBA is nearing the legal maximum on the amount of loans it can back. The 7A program will reach its $18.75 billion limit by the end of July or early August, two months before the end of the fiscal year. If that happens, Congress would have to raise the limit. SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet last month asked Congress to increase the amount to $22.5 billion. So far, lawmakers have not budged. They’re about to go on recess in August. The fourth quarter is usually the busiest time of the fiscal year for the program. It backs loans that small businesses can use to buy or operate a company, buy or improve equipment or property, or refinance business-related debt.

IRS: 7.5 Million Americans Paid Penalty For Lack Of Health Coverage
About 7.5 million Americans paid an average penalty of $200 for not having health insurance in 2014 — the first year most Americans were required to have coverage under the Affordable Care Act, the Internal Revenue Service said Tuesday.
By contrast, taxpayers filing three-quarters of the 102 million returns received by the IRS so far this year checked a box indicating they had qualifying insurance coverage all year.
Counting another 7 million dependents who weren't required to report their coverage but also filed returns, the proportion with qualifying insurance rises to 81 percent, the IRS said.
