GADSDEN, Ala. - An Alabama woman convicted of running her 9-year-old granddaughter to death as punishment for lying about candy was sentenced Monday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Joyce Hardin Garrard held hands with her defense lawyer as Etowah County Circuit Judge Billy Ogletree handed down the sentence. She told Ogletree that if she could change anything, it would be to have her granddaughter alive today.
A jury convicted Garrard of capital murder in March and recommended a sentence of life in prison. The judge could have given her the death penalty. Etowah County District Attorney Jimmie Harp told the judge Monday that prosecutors were satisfied with the jury's recommendation.

736 Years Behind Bars For Man Who Shot A Barrage Of AK-47 Bullets At Cops After They Shot His Dogs
When police officers were called to a Colorado home on July 4, 2012 to investigate reports of a suspicious person in the bushes, it turned into a huge shoot-out when the resident opened fire on the officers with an AK-47. Fortunately for the officers, the suspect was a really, really bad shot.
Lonnie James Pebley, 43, opened fire on 27 Castle Rock police officers and Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies from his home in Castle Rock during one of biggest shootouts in county history.
He fired more than 70 times but did not hit any of the officers.
Neighbor Marvin Shipley saw the shootout.
He said: ‘My wife heard someone say, “Don’t shoot the dogs.”
‘I think they shot the dogs and it really picked up at that point.
‘Pretty soon we had bullets whizzing over the roof of the house and it went on for quite a while.
‘There must have been 50 to 60 gunshots.’

Boston University condemns prof's racist tweets after Terrier alums bark
Boston University had a weekend change of heart about a new professor's angry tweets about white people, after FoxNews.com and others reported on the racially-charged comments -- and Terrier alumni threatened to stop writing checks.
Saida Grundy, an incoming assistant professor of sociology and African-American studies at the school, tweeted in recent weeks that "white masculinity is THE problem for america’s (sic) colleges," white men are a "problem population,” and that she tries to avoid shopping at white-owned businesses. On Friday, her new employer's spokesman, Colin Riley, told FoxNews.com that the tweets came from Grundy's personal Twitter account and that she was "exercising her right to free speech and we respect her right to do so.”

Are Things Getting Back to ‘Normal’ in Baltimore?
Enjoy it while you can, Baltimore. The riots haven’t ended, they’ve merely been postponed.
We are told that things are getting back to normal in Baltimore. This is not an unmixed blessing.
Yes, the rioters have put down their bricks, their Molotov cocktails, and all their many other implements of destruction (at least for the time being), and when one compares the present state of the city to the chaos seen last week, one can say things have improved. But after the great collective sigh of relief goes out, Baltimoreans must now reckon with the meaning of the word “normal” as it applies to their city. Indeed, what is normal in Baltimore would be cause for great alarm in almost any other city you could name.
According to Marketwatch.com, Baltimore comes in at seventh place on its list of the most dangerous cities in America, with a violent crime rate of 1,401 per 100,000 residents (figures are from 2013). And given the spectacle we’ve just witnessed in Baltimore, and the vulgar circus we’re likely to see as the six police officers accused in the death of Freddie Gray are prosecuted, and the near certainty that none of these officers will ever be convicted of anything, and the equally likely reaction that will follow the collapse of the prosecution’s case, do you suppose the Charm City will move to a higher or lower position on that list the next time it’s published?
Granted, Baltimore is unlikely to dislodge perennial list-leader Detroit (2,072 violent crimes per 100,000 residents) from the top spot, but it’s within easy reach of Little Rock (1,407) and Cleveland (1,478). And this year Baltimore might even surpass fourth-place St. Louis (1,594). According to a database maintained by the Baltimore Sun, there have been 81 homicides this year as of May 7. There were 211 in all of 2014, so it would appear the bodies have been dropping this year at a pace just slightly ahead of last year’s. Expect that pace to accelerate.

Jockey Club: Unrest Won't Impact Preakness
The recent unrest in Baltimore will not impact the Preakness festivities set for next weekend, with the race taking place Saturday.
That's according to the president of the Maryland Jockey Club, Sal Sinatra.
He told Maryland's News This Week that security is always tight for the Preakness, with Baltimore City Police working with the National guard and private security.
Sinatra says the threat of any unrest has greatly subsided.

Blame Obama and Sharpton for War against Cops: 2 COPS KILLED IN MISSISSIPPI SUSPECTS ARRESTED
Make no mistake I blame these men and the media for fostering an anti-Cop climatein this country. A false narrative has been purposely put in place that Cops killing Africans Americans with impunity. Many in the Black community believe this lie when the truth is Blacks are killing each other and the media doesn’t highlight it nationally.
AP reports two Mississippi police officers were shot to death during an evening traffic stop turned violent, a state law enforcement spokesman said Sunday. Three suspects were in custody, including two who are charged with capital murder.
The deaths of the officers – the first to hit Hattiesburg in three decades – were felt far and wide in this small southern Mississippi city. Gov. Phil Bryant released a statement saying he was “mourning” the loss of the officer
“This should remind us to thank all law enforcement for their unwavering service to protect and serve. May God keep them all in the hollow of his hand,” Bryant said.
Warren Strain, a spokesman for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, said Marvin Banks, 29, and Joanie Calloway, 22, were each charged with two counts of capital murder. Banks was also charged with one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and with grand theft for fleeing in the police cruiser after the shooting, Strain said.
“He absconded with a Hattiesburg police cruiser. He didn’t get very far, three or four blocks and then he ditched that vehicle,” Strain said.

Maker of M&Ms says too much sugar is a bad thing
NEW YORK — One of the biggest candy companies in the world wants you to lay off the sugar.
Mars, which makes M&Ms, Snickers and Twix, said Friday that it supports government recommendations to limit sugar intake and label sweets with the amount of added sugar they contain.
The move is a significant departure for a company that sells chocolate and confectionery treats. But it comes as more processed food companies have been eliminating artificial ingredients and moving toward transparency in labeling.

Counting Poor Students Is Getting Harder
Researchers, grant-makers and policymakers have long relied on enrollment numbers for the federally subsidized Free and Reduced-Price Lunch program. They use those numbers as a handy proxy for measuring how many students are struggling economically. The paperwork that families submit to show their income becomes the basis of billions in federal funds.
To be eligible for these programs, a family must earn no more than 85 percent above the poverty line. Just over half of public school students fit that description.
At least, that's today's figure. As Jill Barshay reports for the Hechinger Report, things are about to get more vague.
That's because of a new federal program called "community eligibility." Under that provision, a school or even an entire district can provide free lunch to all its students, as long as at least 40 percent of them qualify for a means-tested program.
That means a school could, in theory, go from 40 percent to 100 percent "free lunch" overnight.
There are solid reasons behind this initiative. If everyone partakes, it removes the stigma of free lunch. Immigrant families with issues documenting their income can still take advantage of the program.
But the potential issue is that school districts will handle their reporting differently, leaving the nation without a single, reliable measure of student poverty. About 13 percent of schoolchildren are currently receiving free lunches under the new community eligibility program, but we don't know how many of them are actually facing economic hardship.

Baltimore riots: Five undeniable truths in America
Since the death of Michael Brown Jr. last year, this country has seen wide spread demonstrations, violence, and social discord unlike anything we have seen since the Vietnam era. What began as a racially framed argument has evolved into much more than something as simple as black and white and unless we explore deeper than the racial element, we will see much worse than what we have witnessed from Ferguson or Baltimore. Throughout all of this, I believe there are five truths that stand out and are just a fraction of what needs to change if we, as a nation, are ever going to mend and move forward.
LOCAL POLITICS MATTER MOST: Most of us know far too much about who is running for president and far too little about those running for city council or the school board. When a local problem rises to a national level like we saw happen in Ferguson and Baltimore, it is the end result of years, perhaps even decades, of local neglect and corruption. Kickbacks, quid pro quo, and political favors are far more likely to go unreported and undetected at the local level by citizens or the media. Simply put, most of us fail to view local politics in the same regard as we do national politics and fail to realize our locally elected leaders have far greater influence on our lives than whoever sits in the Oval Office. It is time the voting public take more interest and demand more information about who their local politicians are and who they are in bed with politically.
If you look at politicians as nothing more than potential cancerous growths, it is better for our long term health to stop them in their formative stages, the local level, than to think they will solve our problems when they have grown into becoming part of a national malignancy.

84-Year-Old Refuses a Million Dollars and Forces a Mall to be Built Around Her Home
Seattle, WA – After receiving a million dollar offer on her house in 2006, 84-year-old Edith Macefield, refused because she didn’t want to uproot and relocate. The developers planning to construct a shopping mall in the Ballard neighborhood, were ultimately forced to build around her.
After the news of her resilience to corporate pressure hit the internet, Macefield and her house became a symbol of strength, inspiring the model for the house in the Pixar movie “Up”.
Edith Macefield, sadly passed away in 2008 at 87-years-old, leaving her house to Barry Martin, a construction chief at an adjacent building site. Martin had often helped Edith—who had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer—by driving her to appointments and looking after her. Thankful for his kindness, Edith repaid the favor by leaving him her famous home.
Originally. Martin had planned to turn Edith’s home into a memorial, but the plans fell through. He has since sold the house to a real estate coaching firm known as Reach Returns, now known as Cor Company.
Many investors lost their money on the house as restorations came to a halt. Reach Returns collected a lot of money under the premise they would lift the house 30-feet up in the air, but this never happened.

OCPD Arrest Man after Fleeing from Police
(May 11, 2015) – Ocean City police have arrested a Church Hill man for fleeing from a traffic stop, making several unsafe maneuvers through traffic and colliding with a sedan after traveling through a red traffic light.
On May 9, 2015, at approximately 1:45 p.m. officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a motorcycle traveling southbound on Philadelphia Avenue in the 8th Street area. The driver of the motorcycle, later identified as Kevin R. Joiner, 30, of Church Hill, MD, then fled from police, performing several unsafe lane changes, nearly striking multiple vehicles and making several illegal U-turns and traveling against the flow of traffic on Philadelphia Avenue.
While traveling southbound, Joiner approached the intersection of Philadelphia Avenue and 2nd Street where the light was red. Joiner continued through the intersection when he nearly struck a family of six legally crossing the roadway, before then striking a small sedan and being ejected from his motorcycle. He then attempted to flee on foot but was quickly detained and placed under arrest by police.
Joiner was charged with multiple traffic violations including driving with a suspended and revoked license. He was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and released after posting $20,000 bond.

‘THE WIRE’ CREATOR DEMOLISHES BALTIMORE CRIME MYTHS PUSHED BY MARTIN O’MALLEY
Just as Martin O’Malley, Baltimore’s Democrat ex-mayor, prepares to announce a run for the White house, he faces devastating and detailed criticism for his role in creating the mess in Baltimore from a noted expert on the city: David Simon, reporter, author, and creator of the seminal HBO crime dramaThe Wire.
Former Baltimore Mayor and Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley isn’t a household name, but it appears he’s about to take on Hillary Clinton for the Democrat nomination. The New York Times just announced O’Malley’s hiring of a political director who previously worked with Barack Obama and called O’Malley’s presidential announcement “almost certain.”
O’Malley recently told NBC’s Meet The Press that he “won’t think of announcing” his presidential bid anywhere other than Baltimore.
It’s not a great time to be a former mayor of Baltimore, however. Rioting, looting, and unrest in the city became front page headlines for a week, as the result of tension between Baltimore’s black community and the police.

ISIS Sets ‘Honey Traps’ to Ensnare and Execute Homosexuals
In its crusade against homosexuals, the Islamic State is now resorting to sting operations, using jihadists posing as gay men to coax out offenders and execute them.
According to reports, a special unit of militia has been formed within ISIS to deal specifically with the eradication of homosexuals from Syria, Iraq and Libya. One method employed is for militiamen of the Caliphate to send anonymous invitations for blind dates for men only; those who respond are summarily executed.
According to dissident groups working in the area, ISIS religious police have also begun pretending to be gay men in order to ferret others out, before arresting and executing them.
The ISIS regime views sodomy as the most deplorable practice, one punishable by death.

Black Bears Chase Visitors in Yellowstone National Park
A trip to Yellowstone National Park took a terrifying turn for tourists who were chased by a family of black bears.
A black bear and her three cubs surprised the tourists when they appeared on a bridge lined with sightseers earlier this week, sending them running.
In a video released by Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, sightseers run as the mother bear, seemingly equally terrified and confused, charges one family as they scramble to get to their car.

FOUR INJURED IN CRASH INVOLVING STATE TROOPER IN HARFORD CO. YESTERDAY IDENTIFIED
(RIVERSIDE, MD) -- Four people were injured yesterday afternoon when a Maryland State Police patrol car driven by a trooper responding to an emergency call collided with another vehicle in an intersection in Harford County.
The trooper is identified as Trooper Joshua Kim, 24, assigned to patrol duties at the JFK Highway Barrack. He has been a member of the Maryland State Police for 2.5 years.
The three others involved in the crash are identified as the driver, Jared Richards, 21, of Abingdon, Md., and his two passengers, Sara Walker, 19, of Edgewood, Md., and Joseph D. Parrish, 23, of Aberdeen, Md.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team is conducting the investigation into this crash. The preliminary investigation indicates that shortly after 4:00 p.m. yesterday, Trooper Kim and another trooper were dispatched to a hit and run crash call in the 1200-block of Musket Court. The victim of a hit and run crash on I-95 had followed the suspect vehicle to this address and confronted the driver. An altercation was occurring between the two and troopers were called to respond.
Trooper Kim was authorized by the JFK Highway Barrack duty officer to respond to this call with lights and siren. He was operating a marked State Police patrol car and activated his emergency lights and siren as he headed southbound on Rt. 543. As Trooper Kim proceeded through the intersection at Rt. 543 and Rt. 7, his 2014 Chevrolet Caprice collided with a 2006 Mazda 3, driven by Jared Richards, that was eastbound on Rt. 7.
Trooper Kim and Joseph Parrish were flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment. Trooper Kim was released from the hospital at about 9:00 p.m. Parrish continues to undergo treatment. Jared Richards and Sara Walker were taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital, where both were treated for injuries.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team investigation is continuing. Charges have not been filed at this time.
Ex-NYC Top Cop Safir: Eric Holder Had 'War on Police'
Former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder waged a "war on police," former New York City Police Commissioner Howard Safir said Sunday when asked about the federal probe of the Baltimore Police Department.
"He spent more time investigating police departments than he did investigating criminals," Safir told John Catsimatidis, host of "The Cats Roundtable" on AM 970 in New York.
But Safir called Holder's successor Loretta Lynch "fair and honest."
"As long as they’re going into this with the idea of improving policing rather than going after the police, it’s probably OK." he said.
Safir, who was commissioner during Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's administration, said that current Mayor Bill de Blasio's ending of "stop-and-frisk" policing was a mistake that will lead to more crime in the city.

Chris Wallace: White House Snubbing Fox News
The Obama White House is snubbing "Fox News Sunday" when offering members of the administration to discuss issues, host Chris Wallace said.
After discussing the homegrown terror threat with Texas Republican Rep. Mike McCaul on Sunday, Wallace noted, "We wanted to ask Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson about the terror threat, but while the White House put him on another Sunday show they declined to make him available to Fox viewers."
Johnson did appear Sunday on ABC's "This Week."
"The White House has made a number of other guests available to other networks this year, while excluding us – and you," Wallace said. "We did get to interview Chief of Staff Denis McDonough and DHS Sec. Johnson once this year, but only when they appeared on all five networks," Wallace said.

The Garland Police Ignored Warnings By Anonymous TWO DAYS Before ISIS Struck
Garland, Texas – On the 4th of May, Elton Simpson, aged 30 and Nadir Soofi, aged 34, opened fire on an unarmed security guard outside of a Prophet Muhammad drawing contest.
Word has gotten out that two days before that incident, a woman living outside of the US, who was connected to Anonymous, had sent a message to the official Garland Police Department Twitter account warning of a potential Islamic State attack.
Apparently, the message never raised any red flags… or was forwarded on by police. Was it Incompetence, too much information…? Or did they let it happen?
“That is the first time I’ve heard that,” GPD spokesman Joe Harn said, when informed of the warning, according to The Daily Dot. “We were monitoring things; we had the FBI and ATF, but we didn’t see anything [on Twitter].”
The Muhammad Art Exhibit and Contest was, in actuality, a poorly-disguised attempt at provoking a reaction from Muslims… extremist or otherwise. It was a Muhammad drawing contest being held under the auspices of free speech, and would have been considered blasphemous and a direct provocation to Muslims as it is forbidden within Islam to create physical representations of the Prophet. It is widely thought that the January attack on satirical French paper Charlie Hedbo was a direct result of their humorous cartoon depictions of the Prophet; as such, it is surprising that the police department did not take sufficient precautions to protect the unarmed guards, particularly when they were warned of the pending threat.

Satanists Sue for 'Religious Exemption' to Keep Abortion in Missouri
A branch of the Satanic Temple sued Missouri on Friday seeking a religious exemption to the state's mandatory 72-hour law regarding abortion after a member was denied the procedure at a Planned Parenthood office.
Under the lawsuit, the group is citing the Federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) in the way that Christian businesses and organizations have to avoid providing contraception to their employees, The Daily Beast reports.
The plaintiff is named in the suit as "Mary Doe." She declined to be interviewed by the Daily Beast.
The Satanic Temple filed the action after Doe visited the Planned Parenthood office, handing them a letter stating that the law conflicted with her religious beliefs when she was denied an abortion immediately because of the waiting period, according to the report.
"As an adherent to the principles of the Satanic Temple, my sincerely held religious beliefs are: My body is inviolable and subject to my will alone," the letter says. It ends with, "I respectfully request that you provide me with an abortion today."

Baltimore Police Radio Dispatch Reveals: Stunning Evidence of Marilyn Mosby’s “Egregious Rush to Judgment” In Her Direct Action Charges…
[Marilyn Mosby’s] case against the two arresting officers rests upon an “illegal” arrest. She says the knife that Freddie Gray was carrying was legal. But the police task force examined it and said the officers were indeed correct, the knife was spring-assisted and therefore prohibited.
It’s Mosby who made the “illegal” arrest, and could be charged under her own theory of “false imprisonment.” And sued to boot, since she forfeited her immunity from civil action by doing the charging herself. (link)
We continue looking through the direct action filing, the probable cause to arrest determination, as outlined in Mosby’s own words – and comparing her words to the factual evidence she is seeking to hide. What we are finding is jaw dropping.
Mosby claimed:
[…] “Despite stopping for the purpose of checking on Mr. Gray’s condition, at no point did [Officer Goodson] seek nor did he render any medical assistance for Mr. Gray.” (link)
This is a lie! An intentional lie we will prove below.
As previously outlined the claim of the knife not being legally justifiable for arrest has nowbeen thoroughly deconstructed. So now we look forward to the claim that the officers attempted to render no appropriate aid to Freddie Gray.
As stunning as the manipulative presentation surrounding the knife was, the claim she made that no medical aid was attempted is brutally flawed, and bordering on criminally liable.
In doing this research we also discover even more evidence of unethical conduct in the relationship between Mosby’s Deputy Attorney, Janice Bledsoe and her domestic partner reporter Jayne Miller of (WBAL-TV).

Ben Carson on Flat Tax: 'Condescending' to Say Poor Can't Pay Taxes
GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson defended his flat tax plan on Sunday, saying it is "condescending" to poor people to say they can't pay taxes.
The 63-year-old Carson himself grew up poor in Detroit before becoming a pioneering pediatric neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins University.
Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," Carson defended the idea, which he termed a "proportional tax," saying he got the idea from the biblical concept of tithing. People making $10 billion a year pay $1 billion in taxes and those making as little as $100 pay $1.
"That's pretty darn fair if you ask me," Carson said.

School principal apologizes for singling out, stereotyping black people at graduation
LILBURN, GA (CBS46) -A principal at a school in Stone Mountain has caused an uproar after making controversial statements about black graduates at a ceremony on Friday.
Nancy Gordeuk, the principal and founder of TNT Academy in Stone Mountain, said she accidentally skipped the valedictorian's speech in the program, and she asked the crowd that was leaving early to come back inside of the church where the ceremony was being hosted.
As she was addressing the crowd, she was recorded by a member of the audience saying, "Look at who is leaving, all of the black people."
That caused an uproar inside the hall. The video shows people in the crowd standing up and yelling in response to that remark.

Police Seize 10 Children from Family Because They Are Off Grid
Off the Grid News reported:
An off-grid homeschool family of 12 in rural Kentucky was raided, the mother arrested, and the 10 children seized simply because the government disagrees with their lifestyle and their educational choices, family members and friends say.
Until Wednesday, Joe and Nicole Naugler lived with their 10 kids in a cabin on 26 acres in Breckinridge County, about an hour southwest of Louisville.
“They are an extremely happy family,” family friend Pace Ellsworth told Off The Grid News.
Acting on an anonymous tip about the family’s off-grid lifestyle, sheriff’s officers entered the property and home Wednesday, and even blocked the access road to the family property, the family says. Joe and eight of the children were away, but Nicole – who is five-months pregnant – was home with the two oldest kids. Sheriff deputies then seemingly allowed Nicole and the two children to drive away but they got only a short distance before deputies pulled them over and took the two children away from the mom, who was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Later, the sheriff ordered Joe to turn over the other children by 10 a.m. or be arrested for felony charges, the family says. He complied.
Deputies also threatened to impound the car, although a friend of the family convinced the deputies to allow Joe to have it back.

A photographer turned the tables on the woman who stole her identity
The phone rang one late morning in late February 2011, and Jessamyn Lovell's life was changed.
The San Francisco Police Dept.'s financial-crimes unit called to ask if Lovell had given a woman named Erin Coleen Hart permission to use her New Mexico state driver's license. Hart had committed a number of crimes, including petty theft, using Lovell's name and identity.
Lovell, a photographer based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, felt a dire need to piece together how her and Hart's lives became connected. Over the next three years, she documented Hart's crime scenes, release from prison, and transition back to normalcy.
We've published snippets of the resulting project, "Dear Erin Hart," with the photographer's permission. You can learn more about Lovell's journey by visiting her website and preordering her book, "Dear Erin Hart."

Rubio Outlines a 'Liam Neeson' Foreign Policy
Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio summed up his hawkish foreign policy in a speech at the South Carolina Freedom Summit on Saturday with a reference to the 2008 thriller Taken.
“On our strategy on global jihadists and terrorists, I refer them to the movie Taken. Have you seen the movie Taken? Liam Neeson. He had a line, and this is what our strategy should be: 'We will look for you, we will find you, and we will kill you,'” the Florida senator said to thunderous applause in Greenville, S.C.
The line—referring to Neeson's character, a CIA operative threatening a human trafficker who had kidnapped his daughter—earned the top-tier candidate thunderous applause.

Records: Thousands Too Injured To Enter Baltimore Jail
BALTIMORE (AP) — Newly released records show that thousands of people have been brought to the Baltimore city jail in recent years with injuries too severe for them to be admitted.
WJZ media partner The Baltimore Sun obtained records showing that correctional officers at the jail refused to admit nearly 2,600 detainees who were in police custody between June 2012 and April 2015.
Baltimore police are under scrutiny for their treatment of detainees following the death of Freddie Gray last month. Six officers have been charged in Gray’s death, which sparked riots and widespread protests. The Justice Department is conducting a civil-rights investigation of Baltimore police.

16 TV shows that have just been canceled
It's that time of year when the broadcast networks are bringing down the ax on several of their series.
In order to make room for new series and prepare for May's presentation to advertisers, executives have been crunching the ratings numbers, checking their pilot inventory, and making both easy and difficult decisions on which shows have to go.
"Revenge" had the dubious honor of becoming the first casualty of the season when ABC officially announced its farewell after the current season, the show's fourth.
That would be followed by other tough (though expected) goodbyes to Fox's "The Mindy Project" and The CW's "Hart of Dixie."

HERSH: The White House is lying about the killing of Osama bin Laden
Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh has a startling new article claiming the White House fed the public lie after lie about how the US killed Osama bin Laden in May 2011.
The article in the London Review of Books purports to be an "alternative history of the war on terror," and it relies largely on a single unnamed source to question President Barack Obama's narrative about the death of the man behind the 9/11 attacks.
That narrative from the president claimed bin Laden was killed in a firefight with US forces and that Pakistani officials weren't told about the raid in advance.
While Obama touted bin Laden's killing in a Pakistani compound as an "all-American affair" as Hersh puts it, US officials got assistance from upper-level Pakistani officials, according to Hersh. Moreover, he writes, bin Laden wasn't "hiding" in Pakistan when Navy Seals found him as the US government claimed.
Rather, Hersh alleges, Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) was holding bin Laden as a prisoner. A former senior Pakistani intelligence officer tipped the US off about bin Laden's whereabouts in exchange for $25 million, Hersh writes in his article, which has attracted wide attention in just a few hours.
Hersh says his main source inside the US is an unnamed senior intelligence official with knowledge about the raid that killed bin Laden. Hersh also says he got corroborating information from two longtime consultants to Special Operations Command in the US and that he spoke to sources "inside Pakistan."

The article in the London Review of Books purports to be an "alternative history of the war on terror," and it relies largely on a single unnamed source to question President Barack Obama's narrative about the death of the man behind the 9/11 attacks.

Sea Gulls Down Mustangs in NCAA Second Round
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The No. 8 Salisbury men's lacrosse team faced a three-hour delay to the start of its NCAA Division III tournament second-round contest against No. 7 Stevenson after being stuck in traffic on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, but the Sea Gulls came off the bus ready to play and took a 12-4 victory at Mustang Stadium on Saturday night to advance to the NCAA quarterfinal round.
"This was a big win, an impressive effort by our boys tonight," Head Coach Jim Berkman said. "I thought that we played really composed tonight and did a great job of attacking them in the right places and taking advantage of what their defense gave us tonight."
The Sea Gulls struck first in the contest, as junior James Burton ran from left to right near the middle of the box, cut back to the left, and planted a shot into the top-left corner of the goal for a 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the game.
Stevenson's Tony Rossi knotted the score one minute later, but Salisbury would close the half on a five-goal run.
With 9:36 left in the first quarter, the Sea Gulls found a transition opportunity, as junior Preston Dabbs ran up the right sideline and passed up to senior Sean Fitzgerald into the offensive box. Fitzgerald then found sophomore Carson Kalama for a one-on-one score on the crease with the Mustang goalkeeper.
Junior Thomas Cirillo then found the cage two-straight times in man-up situations to build a three-goal cushion at 4-1. At the 4:13 mark, Fitzgerald found Cirillo near the middle of the box for a 10-yard shot, before sophomore Nathan Blondino dished to Cirillo for a rip from the left wing just 72 seconds later.
