A child from Liberia was brought to the Bayhealth Kent General emergency department on Saturday, October 4. The ED staff completed an initial assessment following the recently updated Centers for Disease Control guidelines for identifying suspected cases of Ebola.
After the assessment, and out of an abundance of caution, the child was admitted to a private isolation room and all CDC guidelines regarding specimen collection, transport, testing and submission for person under investigation for Ebola are being followed.
The State of Delaware Office of Infectious Disease was notified of the admission, who subsequently notified the CDC.
The child is past the 21 day maximum incubation period and it has been determined by the CDC that the likelihood of Ebola infection is extremely low. Since the likelihood is low, the CDC declined to test this child for Ebola.
The patient will continue to be observed in the hospital until the CDC and the infectious disease physician determine it is safe for the patient to be discharged from the hospital.
This patient is past the incubation period and as of tonight is symptom free. Working with state and federal officials, Bayhealth is committed to patient safety and protecting public health.

Latest Update On Brooke Mulford
Lose it for Brooke
Just realizing I didn't update on most recent scans (Thursday). Her disease is stable. Was scared for a few hours because they did additional imaging of her femurs which typically means they see something new but the spect scan there showed everything was okay. So as of now she still has a tumor on C7 and a very small tumor on L4. We will continue on this trial with next scans to be scheduled after 4 more cycles.

Patient being tested in Delaware for possible Ebola virus
A patient with Ebola-like symptoms is being tested for the deadly virus at a Delaware hospital, Fox News confirmed Sunday.
A nurse at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover confirmed to Fox News that a patient exhibiting Ebola symptoms has been placed in isolation in the hospital and is being tested for the deadly virus, but did not give any more detail.
The only confirmed U.S. Ebola patient, Thomas Eric Duncan, is in critical condition at a Dallas hospital.
Also Sunday, officials said after several hours of searching they located a homeless man who was sought because of possible contact with Duncan.

Local Media Finally Gets On Board With Lawsuits
Although it has taken almost a WEEK, the Daily Times AND WBOC have finally come forward today with the newest lawsuit filed against the City of Salisbury and one particular Police Officer.
I don't care who you are, I was targeted as anti police simply because WE exposed the news well ahead of the rest of the press. I never published ANYTHING that wasn't OFFICIAL and documented in the court system.
The mere fact that the Daily Times and WBOC finally received enough pressure to publish something proves that Salisbury News is Delmarva's news leader.
It does make you wonder, why has WBOC remained silent with the Gift Card spending with the BOE and expenses from the County Executives Office.
Your local media is quickly learning they have not only lost the TRUST of their viewers, they have also lost ALL of the ground they held for decades while one Blog has completely taken over.
Salisbury News is delivering FACTUAL information that is documented. Our traffic, (especially locally) is second to NONE. I think it's time we make the next major move which will hurt them the hardest, financially. Will it be drones, advertising, live video, only time will tell. Nevertheless, we're working on it because we've cornered the market.
We ARE Delmarva's news leader and quite frankly we're sick and tired of them making money off our hard work.

SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN CARROLL CO. HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
(GAMBER, MD) – Maryland State Police homicide investigators have arrested and charged two suspects in connection with the overnight homicide in Carroll County.
The suspects arrested are identified as Lester A. Snyder, 26, and Meghan R. Goforth, 26, both of Windsor Mill, Md. After consultation with the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office, State Police homicide investigators charged each suspect with felony murder, second degree murder, armed robbery, robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and accessory after the fact. An additional charge of first degree murder was filed against Snyder. Both will be taken to the Carroll County central booking facility for processing and an initial appearance before a court commissioner later today.
The suspects are charged in connection with the death of Luis J. Pol, 23, of the Bronx, NY. Shortly before 11:00 p.m. yesterday, Maryland State Police from the Westminster Barrack responded to a 911 call from a motorist on Rt. 32 at Nicodemus Road, near Gamber, Md. Responding troopers found a man, later identified as Pol, lying in the roadway. The victim had sustained what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Goforth was initially taken into custody overnight by Baltimore County Police, who found her with a car matching the description of the one observed at the scene of the murder. She was transported to the State Police Westminster Barrack and has been in police custody since.
After further investigation by State Police, Snyder was developed as a suspect. Members of the Maryland State Police State Apprehension Team located Snyder shortly after 1:00 p.m. today at his residence. He was arrested without incident and transported to the Westminster Barrack. State Police obtained and served a search warrant at Snyder’s residence this afternoon. A firearm has not been recovered.
The preliminary investigation indicates Snyder and Goforth were currently living together and were acquaintances of Pol. Although Pol was from New York, he had been staying recently with friends in the Gamber area. At this time, investigators believe the motive for the crime was robbery.
Anyone who may have been driving along Rt. 32 in the area of Nicodemus Road between 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., Saturday, is urged to contact Maryland State Police at 410-386-3000. Anyone with information about the person or persons responsible for the murder is urged to contact Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP. A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information.

Fire Truck Overturns While Enroute to a Fire
The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. as John B. Burkett, 72 of Dover, was operating a 2000 International Fire Truck southbound on East Dennys Road in the area of Simms Woods Road. The engine truck, which was enroute to a fully involved barn fire located at 1876 East Dennys Road, was in the process of slowly passing another fire truck when the left side tires drove off the pavement and onto the soft shoulder causing the weight of the truck to shift and overturn into a ditch on its left side.
John Burkett was transported from the scene by EMS to Kent General Hospital where he was examined and released with no injuries.
Four firefighters on board the truck were uninjured in the incident.
The roadway was closed for approximately two hours while the crash was investigated and cleared and the truck was up-righted. No charges are expected.
Michael Phelps Puts Swimming On Hold After Second DUI Arrest
Putting his swimming career on hold after his second DUI arrest, Olympic champion Michael Phelps began a six-week program Sunday that he said "will provide the help I need to better understand myself."
The winningest athlete in Olympic history made the announcement in a series of posts on his Twitter account.
According to his representatives at Octagon, Phelps entered an in-patient program that will keep him from competing at least through mid-November, though there's no indication he plans to give up swimming.

PRESIDENT EBOLA: In 2010 Obama Administration Scrapped CDC Quarantine Regulations Aimed At Ebola
In October 2014, the first patient on American soil infected with the Ebola virus sits in isolation in a Texas hospital, prompting calls for travel restrictions between the United States and Ebola-stricken countries.
Meanwhile, four years ago, the administration of President Barack Obama moved with virtually no fanfare to abandon a comprehensive set of regulations which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had called essential to preventing international travelers from spreading deadly diseases inside the United States.
The CDC had proposed the regulations in 2005 under the administration of George W. Bush, reported USA Today in 2010. The original impetus for the regulations was fear that avian flu would spread unchecked.

THREE MORE SALISBURY UNIVERSITY STUDENTS FILE SUIT AGAINST THE SALISBURY CITY POLICE
What you see above is just a portion of the formal letter of intent provided to the City, Mayor, Police Chief and Tom Stevenson.
Mayor Jim Ireton already put his foot in his mouth when he went on television and stated he had seen video evidence PROVING the Officer, (THE SAME ONE IN THIS CASE) was in the right when he allegedly assaulted a 14 year old and then out of nowhere, guess what, that video somehow and mysteriously disappeared.
Mayor Ireton also stated that he found no evidence this very same Officer had done anything out of line/wrong when it came to the other three college students who filed suit against the City.
Now we have THREE more students, (this time, DRIVING WHILE BLACK) held at gunpoint because they allegedly didn't turn on their turn signal soon enough. Oh, the Officer admits they turned it on but apparently not soon enough.
Now have ANY of you WHITE people EVER been pulled over for a similar and alleged violation? I'm not even sure there was a VIOLATION, considering they did in fact put on their turn signal.
In Summation:
1) Everyone admits and acknowledges the Officer’s dashboard surveillance camera was not working—yet he went out unsupervised, despite numerous warnings that he was dangerous.
2) No one was ever informed about the reason of the stop (not then, not now).
3) The guys were held up at gunpoint for what they estimate to be 10-15 minutes
4) They were searched, frisked and the canine unit arrived.
5) Nothing illegal or suspicion found, whatsoever.
6) The whole incident took at least 40 minutes. There are text messages that support the time-line. A routine traffic stop should be less than 20 minutes, at least.
7) A written warning was given under very suspicious circumstances, who even uses a turn signal 100 feet before stopping at a STOP SIGN???
8) The officer probably did not want to go to court, or else he’d have given a ticket, or, as he has been known to do, charge the guys with “obstructing and hindering.”
9) These guys were all college students at SU. All three are minority students.
10) The driver, Mr. Smith, does not even drink alcohol, smoke or use drugs of any kind.
11) No one was ever told why all this happened—the three students have no idea to this day. No explanation, apology, etc.
12) Will the States Attorneys Office now “make up” news charges to support this Officer and SPD like they did with the other college students?
13) These guys literally feared for their life (held up at gunpoint) for no reason. It all could have been prevented if the SPD and Mayor simply took some corrective action against an officer they knew was placing the public at risk.

Wicomico County August Jobs Numbers Just In from the US Bureau of Labor - Disappointing Jobs Numbers Again - This Makes the 20th Consecutive Monthly Decline
Today, the US Bureau of Labor posted the August jobs numbers for our nations Counties and Cities. According to the latest report - Wicomico's economy continues to degrade as we lost another 734 workers when compared to the same time frame - August 2013. This makes the 20th consecutive monthly decline in overall workforce numbers - and also represents a decline in 26 of the past 32 months. The unemployment rate also remained high and unchanged at 7.6%.
Ladies and gentlemen - this information does not bode well for the present administration as it shows that our local economy is in terrible shambles. Moreover, for the last few months Maryland was also reported as being No. 2 in the nation for the number of foreclosures - second only to Florida. As for economic development - it is obvious that there is none as the job numbers reveal. And as for the current status quo leadership - they must be worried as things have not improved and this will be last jobs reporting numbers released before the November election. THE TRUMPET HAS SOUNDED AND WE HOPE THAT THE GENERAL PUBLIC IS TUNED-IN.

Publishers Notes: GOOD! I have to agree with a recent commenter, THIS SHOW COMPLETELY SUCKED. In fact, I too stopped watching it after the very first time. WBOC tried to host a television Blog and took most of their point, counter points directly from Salisbury News survey questions of the day. Karma
Will The Wicomico County Elections Be Rigged?
Many are wondering, (with good reason) if the Wicomico County elections will be rigged.
One of the main reasons people are asking is based on the FACT that Rick Pollitt hasn't updated his campaign website, no one is hearing about fundraisers, he's not going door to door and quite frankly he has the very same attitude Mayor Jim Ireton had in the last Mayoral election, he just doesn't care.
Now, IF someone truly wanted to keep their job and truly cared about Wicomico County they'd be more vocal as well as being in the public eye. Rick Pollitt is doing none of the above.
So I believe it's a valid concern, as do every person I talk to about it. Many do not believe Obama got re-elected the second time around as well as Jim Ireton, (locally). Many are starting to wonder if Joe Ollinger actually won the last election.
Either way, acting like you have an election in the bag, (especially Liberals) simply shows how crooked America has become. With 20+ months straight of job losses in the County and NOTHING showing Pollitt has the County on the right track, (especially with multiple tax increases) it's time for new leadership.
Then again, we might not even have a choice with these electronic ballots.
Federal Court Rules The American Flag is Racist
Previously, Live Oak High School, in the San Jose suburb of Morgan Hill, had reports of problems between American citizens and Mexican students.
In 2009, a group of Mexican students marched and waved a Mexican flag around the Live Oak campus in front of all the school.
Some non-Hispanic students then raised the American flag on a tree to show their American patriotism. The Mexican group found this offensive, and then the two groups exchanged profanity-laced threats.
To fix the ‘problem’, the principal issued an order banning students from wearing Stars and Stripes shirts. If a student was caught in violation of the crime of wearing the American flag they would either have to turn them inside-out or go home. The incident garnered national attention as many expressed outrage that students were barred from wearing patriotic clothing.
Parents and a few lawmakers had argued that the actions violated the students’ Constitutional right to free speech.
In the original ruling, a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decided that past problems at the school gave officials sufficient and justifiable reasons for the order. In its opinion, the court said that schools in general have wide latitude in curbing certain civil rights to ensure campus safety.
On Wednesday, the Federal Appeals Court said they will not reconsider the February ruling upholding the unconstitutional actions of a principal in a Northern California high school who ordered students wearing American flag shirts inside out during a 2010 Cinco de Mayo celebration.
The school’s actions “were tailored to avert violence and focused on student safety,”Judge Margaret McKeown said

Police Departments Retaliate Against Organized "Cop Watch" Groups Across the US
When communities attempt to police the police, they often get, well... policed.
In several states, organized groups that use police scanners and knowledge of checkpoints to collectively monitor police activities by legally and peacefully filming cops on duty have said they've experienced retaliation, including unjustified detainment and arrests as well as police intimidation.
The groups operate under many decentralized organizations, most notably CopWatch and Cop Block, and have proliferated across the United States in the last decade - and especially in the aftermath of the events that continue to unfold in Ferguson, Missouri, after officer Darren Wilson fatally shot unarmed, black teenager Michael Brown.
Many such groups have begun proactively patrolling their communities with cameras at various times during the week, rather than reactively turning on their cameras when police enter into their neighborhoods or when they happen to be around police activity.

Safety Tips - Police Impersonator
Those who impersonate police officers erode the public’s trust in law enforcement and may endanger unsuspecting people. There are several tips you can remember to protect yourself during a traffic stop while helping your police officers do their jobs.
* Make sure it is a marked police unit. If it is not a marked unit, the emergency lights should be built in and are usually not a temporary light placed on the vehicle.
* Try to stop in a well-lit area or a location where there are a lot of people present.
* Turn on your emergency flashers but don’t turn off your car.
* Lock your door and only open your window a few inches until you are confident that the officer is legitimate.
* Be polite but express your concerns when in doubt. Most legitimate police officers will understand your concerns when explained properly.
* Look for a uniform, official department jacket, and other equipment used by police officers for the performance of their duties.
* If the officer is in plainclothes, look for identifying clothing and equipment. If unsure, explain to the “officer” that you are unsure about the situation and ask them to display official department identification and badge.
* Ask where they work and if you can contact their dispatch center to confirm their identity.
* You may also request a marked patrol unit respond.
* Put on your flashers, drive the speed limit and call 911 from your cell phone. Tell the 911 dispatcher that you are concerned.
* If you do not have a cell phone, drive to an occupied, well-lit area, such as the parking lot of a busy store.
* Do not stop your vehicle or get out of your vehicle until a dispatcher can confirm you are being pulled over by a legitimate police officer.
* If the dispatcher cannot confirm that you are being pulled over by a police officer, stay on the line with the dispatcher. Drive carefully to a safe place, such as a local police department.
Stay safe, and report suspicious activity to police by dialing 911.

Police force in the 'most corrupt city in America' is disbanded after speed trap scam that made up half of city's revenue was exposed
The city that once covered half of its $1million budget with speeding ticket fines and other 'police revenue' is disbanding its department.
The Waldo City Council voted 4-1 on Tuesday to dissolve the police force after both the police chief and his replacement were suspended over allegations that included ticket quotas.
The decision to disband Waldo's police is partly due to the estimated costs of modernizing the department's facilities and computer systems, which investigations triggered by corruption allegations showed were outdated.

At PRMC, troopers met with the victim and learned that the 61-year-old victim was on the Salisbury Bypass when she was pulled over by a dark colored unmarked vehicle with emergency lights in the dash that she thought was a police vehicle. A man walked up to the victim’s window and immediately began assaulting her. The victim stated she was robbed during the assault.
The victim described the suspect as an African American male, about 5'9" tall, in his mid-40's, wearing a darker colored blue shirt and matching pants. Request that the individual show you a badge and a photo ID card. If you are still suspicious, you can also request the officer request an officer in uniform respond to your location.

Wicomico Republican Leaders: Please, Not Again!
Just like four years ago, with less than one month before early voting starts, Republican candidates for County executive and Council membership are getting no significant organizational support by their party. This past weekend is a case in point – rather than spending Saturday promoting the candidates with voters, the local Republican club held a special fete for a prominent national party member, whose presence here and adulation by locals does little if anything to generate votes this fall.
Although it may attract some new party members and raise money, this sort of “big name” event should have been held many months ago. And, if little or no effort was made at the Allen West gala to enlist a group to work actively for this year’s candidates, that opportunity was wasted.
Then, there’s the Republican club’s website, which does not even suggest that we are having an election this fall, much less provide information about the candidates (or even identify them) or links to their websites. Duh.
This situation reflects the local party leadership, such as a local blogger who focuses largely on state and national matters and several long-time members of the club and/or central committee who are seen only at the club’s meetings and social events. Unless things change immediately, this year’s election could be déjà vu all over again or much worse than just four more years with Rick Pollitt in charge.
The local Democrat party led by Phil Tilghman, Michael Pretl, etc. have hatched a plan to seize control of the Council by taking the seats being vacated by Republicans who are not running for reelection. The Democrat party has enlisted a slate of ultra liberal candidates that are being falsely portrayed as moderate and highly qualified. Their actual views and records are being carefully concealed from public scrutiny, as this blog has pointed out in previous posts.
With one sure Democrat and John Hall on the Council, all they need to control the Council is for two of their candidates to win. You can’t sit on your butts and let Pollitt have another term, and if both he and the Democrat Council candidates win, Wicomico County will sink to the level of Salisbury or lower.
This blog exposed one of their candidates, Ron Pagano, ending his campaign that was being managed by Pretl. But Pagano is just one part of the Democrat plan to take over the Council with a majority composed of Josh Hastings, Laura Mitchell, and Kirby Travers.
The Republican party should follow the Democrat lead in working long and hard to get out the vote for Bob Culver (County Exec.) and for the Council, John Cannon, Larry Dodd, Joe Holloway, Matt Holloway and Mark Kilmer. Don’t let Wicomico County become a larger version of Salisbury.

Forensic Evidence Links Hannah Graham Suspect To Murdered Virginia Tech Student Morgan Harrington
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The man suspected of abducting 18-year-old Hannah Graham from the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville, Virginia earlier this month is forensically linked to the 2009 disappearance of 20-year-old Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington, sources close to the investigation confirmed to CBS 6 reporter Laura French.
Those sources indicated that forensic evidence belonging to Graham suspect Jesse Matthew Jr., matched forensic evidence collected during the Harrington investigation.
The sources would not indicate what Matthew may or may not have done with Harrington, however the sources indicated that the forensic evidence match showed Harrington had some sort of contact with Matthew the night she disappeared outside John Paul Jones arena on October 17, 2009. Her remains were found in January 2010 on an Albemarle County farm.

Obama: Mistrust Of Police Corrodes America
President Barack Obama says the widespread mistrust of law enforcement that was exposed after the fatal police shooting of an unarmed black man in Ferguson, Missouri, is corroding America, not just its black communities, and that the wariness flows from significant racial disparities in the administration of justice.
Speaking Saturday night at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s annual awards dinner, Obama said these suspicions only harm communities that need law enforcement the most.
“It makes folks who are victimized by crime and need strong policing reluctant to go to the police because they may not trust them,” he said. “And the worst part of it is it scars the hearts of our children,” leading some youngsters to unnecessarily fear people who do not look like them while leading others to constantly feel under suspicion no matter what they do.

Comptroller Peter Franchot Slams Maryland's Economy, Politics After $405 Million Write-Down
Maryland's Board of Revenue Estimates slashed projected tax collections by hundreds of millions of dollars Wednesday, prompting Comptroller Peter Franchot to issue a statement blasting the state's economic conditions and the political climate surrounding them.
The Board of Revenue Estimates wrote down projected state revenue by more than $405 million for the 2015 and 2016 fiscal years. Less than half of that, $177.1 million, was written down for the 2015 fiscal year that began in July. The remaining $228 million write-down was for next year's projected revenue.
"Uncertainty serves as a serious deterrent to economic growth," Franchot said in the statement. "Whether it's sequestration, unpredictability in the tax and regulatory environment or an inability to make long-term federal budgeting decisions, most of the uncertainty is based on political problems and decisions, as opposed to global economic conditions."
Franchot listed a number of economic headwinds hitting the state. Wages and salaries are stagnant. Local businesses are struggling to meet payrolls and turn profits. Families have cut back on spending because money is tight or they're worried about jobs.
