Boy, 17, Suspected In Killing 71-Year-Old Great Grandmother

A 17-year-old boy sent to live with his great-grandmother is accused of killing her Friday with help from his cousin.

Joda Cain was sent to live with Jacqueline Bell in an effort to escape problems he’d been having at home, instead he killed her with help from his cousin Micus Ward, 19, and stole her Lexus, officials charged.

The two murder suspects took cops on a high speed chase at speeds as high as 135MPH before they were apprehended. Cops pulling them over were initially unaware of the murder, only finding out after calling in the stolen car.

Boehner Slams ObamaCare After Other GOP Leaders Sidestep it

Fight Over Stretch Of Cape Henry Beach Heads To Court

In the close-knit community of Lynnhaven Dunes, the condominium's gemstone is a roughly 300-foot strip of beach along the Chesapeake Bay. The sliver of sand is a place where the condos' residents take morning strolls, gather for wine on summer evenings and play with their dogs.

Their small chunk of Cape Henry Beach, which stretches from First Landing State Park to the Lesner Bridge, is their backyard, said the condo association's president, Stan Clark.

But the condominium no longer owns the shoreline abutting its property after the city condemned portions of Cape Henry Beach in 2009 to place sand dredged from Lynnhaven Inlet there.

Now they're going to court to see how much the rights to that land are worth.

The Park Police

“We are a nation that has a government—not the other way around.”
—Ronald Reagan

The conduct of the National Park Service over the last week might be the biggest scandal of the Obama administration. This is an expansive claim, of course. Benghazi, Fast and Furious, the IRS, the NSA, the HHS mandate—this is an administration that has not lacked for appalling abuses of power. And we still have three years to go.

Even so, consider the actions of the National Park Service since the government shutdown began. People first noticed what the NPS was up to when the World War II Memorial on the National Mall was “closed.” Just to be clear, the memorial is an open plaza. There is nothing to operate. Sometimes there might be a ranger standing around. But he’s not collecting tickets or opening gates. Putting up barricades and posting guards to “close” the World War II Memorial takes more resources and manpower than “keeping it open.”

The closure of the World War II Memorial was just the start of the Park Service’s partisan assault on the citizenry. There’s a cute little historic site just outside of the capital in McLean, Virginia, called the Claude Moore Colonial Farm. They do historical reenactments, and once upon a time the National Park Service helped run the place. But in 1980, the NPS cut the farm out of its budget. A group of private citizens set up an endowment to take care of the farm’s expenses. Ever since, the site has operated independently through a combination of private donations and volunteer workers.

The Park Service told Claude Moore Colonial Farm to shut down.

Girl Raped After Judge Sends Her To Sex Offender's Home

Charges are being considered against a Texas judge who sent a minor back into the home of a guardian who was living with a sex offender who later murdered the guardian and raped the juvenile, according to a lawsuit.

Also, three Texas teachers were indicted for failing to tell authorities about the student’s report of threats from the sex offender, the suit notes.

The consequences of the judge’s decision and the actions by the teachers were severe: The student was tied up and raped by the sex offender, who also murdered her guardian in front of the student, according to the lawsuit in Caldwell, Texas.

Emails Add Evidence McAuliffe Pressed US Officials To Help Troubled Company

SHOCK VIDEO: College Students Blame Obama, Dems For Shutdown

  • University of Colorado - Boulder is a liberal stronghold
  • 'Obamacare is stupid,' said one student
  • Blame for Dems was nearly unanimous among students surveyed
Students at the University of Colorado - Boulder (CU), a dependably liberal college town, blamed President Obama and Democrats on Tuesday for the ongoing government shutdown, which is now in its second week.

Liberals Tell Obama To Bring The Pain

President Obama’s political base is getting worried as pressure builds on him to abandon his “no negotiations” stance over the partial federal shutdown and looming debt-limit breach. The Pentagondecision to suspend death benefits for families of troops killed in Afghanistan is prompting outrage over the Obama administration’s handling of the partial shutdown. Republicans continue to pass legislation that would restore full funding for essential programs, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid continues his blockade and the president has promised vetoes of several mini-spending bills. Obama told reporters Tuesday that he would not allow emergency funding because he wanted to keep the “political heat” on Republicans. But Americans are unlikely to tolerate such gamesmanship where war widows are involved.

Obama Now Uses Bush Law He Wanted To Repeal

Senior al-Qaida leader Abu Anas al-Libi was captured by U.S. Special Forces earlier this week under the authorization of a Bush-era military law that President Obama recently criticized and vowed to appeal.

Amid Libyan concerns about the raid, Secretary of State John Kerry justified al-Libi’s abduction in Tripoli as a fair use of the Authorization for Use of Military Force, or AUMF.

Kerry stated al-Libi’s capture was a “legal and and appropriate target for the U.S. military under the Authorization of the Use of Military Force passed in September 2001.”

Sharpton Can't Admit Tawana Brawley Hoax

Rev. Al Sharpton would not admit the Tawana Brawley rape case he drove to national prominence was a hoax on Morning Joe Tuesday, saying he had no regrets getting involved and would respond the same way if a woman today made similar claims.

Brawley claimed she was kidnapped and gang-raped by white men, including a police officer and local prosecutor, in 1987. The story became a national sensation and was a career-maker for Sharpton, who was largely unknown at the time.

But after a long investigation revealed Brawley’s claims to be false, it was dropped. Brawley finally began making defamation payments in August for her false accusations in the case, but Sharpton would still admit no fault Tuesday for his controversial involvement.

POSTAL SERVICE TO DESTROY MICHELLE O. 'JUST MOVE' STAMP SERIES OVER SAFETY CONCERNS

According to Linn’s Stamp News, the US Postal Service has now been forced to destroy the entire run of stamps based on Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative.

That’s because three of the stamps showed children doing unsafe activities: one showed a child jumping cannonball-style into water; a second showed a child skateboarding without kneepads; a third showed a child doing a headstand without a helmet.

The President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition had not approved the stamps, but were only made aware of the problem after Nagisa Manabe, USPS marketing chief, asked Michelle Obama to take part in the ceremony inaugurating the initiative.

Feds Order National Guard to Close I-495 to Derail Trucker Protest

The sensational claim is posted on the Freedom Leadership Conference website, as well as prominent conservative blog RedState.com. The annual Freedom Leadership Conference has previously been sponsored by the likes of Judicial Watch and Human Events.

According to Glenn Ryt, the plan to close the route that circles the nation’s capital will be implemented on Friday morning with the aid of armed National Guard troops from Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia who will use trucks, jeeps and armored vehicles to block traffic entering the Beltway.

To compliment comprehensive federal reform, immigrant advocacy groups in Maryland are considering putting forward legislation that would make it illegal for local law enforcement to detain undocumented immigrants for possible deportation by federal authorities unless they have committed a serious crime.

BECK ON WHY KARL ROVE & GOP ‘ESTABLISHMENT’ MAY BE EAGER TO ‘TAKE OUT’ LAWMAKERS LIKE TED CRUZ

Glenn Beck on Tuesday theorized as to why men like Karl Rove and the “old guard” of the Republican Party seem so bent on destroying the careers of the younger Republican senators who don’t fall in line.

“There’s nothing that makes a billionaire more angry than somebody saying, ‘Listen, I’ve got the answer. I’m going to solve all of this. All you have to do is give me, you know, $10 million and I’ll solve it,’ and then he doesn’t solve it,” Beck began. “[Rove] made all of these millionaires and billionaires pissed at him…So Karl Rove has got to take out anybody else who has a competing vision. He’s got to take out FreedomWorks. He’s got to blame it on them.”

“‘You know who caused this problem? It’s FreedomWorks,’” Beck said, acting as Rove. “‘You know who caused this problem? The Senate conservatives.’”

‘Shameful’: Local DC Officials Lose Cool With Dem Leaders Over Partial Shutdown

Democratic leaders who run the District of Columbia are rapidly losing patience with their Democratic colleagues in Congress and the White House, lashing out at them over the partial government shutdown and questioning their overall strategy.

The District already is dealing with lost tourism revenue, as some would-be visitors change vacation plans, knowing that D.C.'s top attractions like the Smithsonian museums are closed. But unlike other cities, Washington, D.C., also is not allowed to spend locally raised funds during the partial shutdown -- due to its unique status as federal district. City leaders have campaigned to have that restriction lifted, but so far only the Republican-led House has voted to allow it.

The impasse has D.C. Democrats suddenly on the side of Republicans, and publicly challenging Democrats.

Gov. Actuaries Say ObamaCare Will Increase Health Care Spending By $621 Billion Over Next 10 Years

President Obama has made many promises about his signature health care plan, but one of the simplest was an assurance that it would lower national health care spending and save every family thousands of dollars.

For example, in May 2009 he hailed "comprehensive health care reform -- so that we can do what I pledged to do as a candidate and save a typical family an average of $2,500 on their health care costs in the coming years."

But now government actuaries have reached a different conclusion, finding that ObamaCare will actually increase health care spending by $621 billion over the next 10 years.

Deaths From Prescription Drugs Now Exceed Those Related To Cocaine And Heroin Combined

A report released yesterday by the non-profit organization Trust for America’s Health has revealed some startling data on prescription drug abuse in these United States. The results are pretty damning to the prescription drug industry. Specifically, it found the majority of total drug related deaths in the U.S. come from prescription drugs, and they now account for more deaths than heroin and cocaine combined.

According to the report, prescription drug abuse has quickly become a top public health concern, as the number of drug overdose deaths - a majority of which are from prescription drugs – doubled in 29 states since 1999. The rates quadrupled in four of these states and tripled in 10 more of these states.

Prescription drug related deaths now outnumber those from heroin and cocaine combined, and drug overdose deaths exceed motor vehicle-related deaths in 29 states and Washington, D.C. Misuse and abuse of prescription drugs costs the country an estimated $53.4 billion a year in lost productivity, medical costs and criminal justice costs, and currently only one in 10 Americans with a substance abuse disorder receives treatment.

Citizens Are The Soylent Green Of Today's Politics

Neither American political party is worth supporting. Each has interests inconsistent with those of the American public. The claimed political differences are mostly cosmetic, designed for marketing advantage. Both parties act in their self interest which does not coincide with that of the citizens or the well-being of the country.

Each party behaves like a self-serving criminal gang. The quaint concept of serving the public exists no longer. Routinely they exempt themselves from the rules and laws they impose on the rest of the country. Their policies enrich the political class while the rest of the country becomes poorer.

Mark Twain described Congress as our ”distinctly native American criminal class.” Albert J. Nock went further, generalizing Twain’s somewhat parochial observation:

Taking the State wherever found, striking into its history at any point, one sees no way to differentiate the activities of its founders, administrators and beneficiaries from those of a professional-criminal class

Strzelczyk, a resident of the rural town of New Windsor in Carroll County, said three things prompted him to create the group: gerrymandering of Western Maryland's congressional district; tax increases; and recent legislation limiting firearm sales in the state.

David Craig On Maryland's Dismal Tax Foundation Ranking

"Maryland Ranks 41st on the 2014 Business Tax Climate Index. Maryland was ranked 22nd in 2006. We can do better."
The Tax Foundation's report comes on the heels of the Craig campaign raising concerns last week about Lt. Governor Anthony Brown skipping a manufacturing event in Towson.
All of the major candidates for governor attended the October 4th forum and their positions on the jobs and economy, except for Brown, are available here:
http://rmiofmaryland.com/rmi-gets-manufacturing-on-the-gubernatorial-candidates-agendas/
"Anthony Brown should have attended this event," said Craig. "Voters do not know where he stands on growing jobs in the important manufacturing sector, and Maryland's business climate continues to stagnate under the O-Malley-Brown Administration's 40 tax, fee and toll increases that remove $3.1 billion out of the economy each year."
The Regional Manufacturing Institute forum focused on a national study in which Maryland earned a "D" letter grade in the manufacturing sector compared to the other 49 states.

*UPDATED* THE LIST: UNNECESSARILY SHUT DOWN BY OBAMA TO INFLICT PUBLIC PAIN

While our president still enjoys his essential employees and locations: the White House chefs, Camp David, and a military golf course, there doesn't seem to be any question that in mercenary pursuit of a political win, this White House is determined to unreasonably punish as many everyday people as possible. And this includes children sick with cancer. That might sound like hyperbole, but it is not.

Although Barack Obama's chefs have been deemed "essential," employees at the National Institutes of Health who offer last-chance experimental cancer treatments for children suffering from cancer have not. Worse still, House Republicans have offered to compromise with the president and single the NIH out for funding. The White House has threatened a veto.

Want To Pay Less For Insurance?

Increasingly worthless Federal Funny Money – and increasingly hard-to-find decent-paying jobs – have put an economic choke-hold on millions of Americans, compelling them to cut back on everything that’s not absolutely essential.

Too bad they can’t cut back on insurance – which for most of them is as far from essential as Federal Reserve notes are from sound money.

Insurance is a terrible deal for most people. A financial sink-hole that grows wider and consumes more with each passing day (and each newly “adjusted” premium).

No doubt this is why it has been made mandatory.

First car – now health.

Poll: Democrats Lose LeadIin Congressional Generic Ballot

In another edition of the polls the media won't cover, between September 29 and October 6, Democrats have lost a four point lead in Rasmussen's generic ballot that asks voters if they would vote for a Democrat or Republican in the upcoming midterm elections. That poll is now tied at 40% - 40%. At the end of last month, Democrats led 42% - 38%.

The media continue to run headlines that read, "Poll Shows GOP Taking Share of Shutdown Blame," which is true. Most polls show Republicans are at a single-digit deficit when compared to Democrats (still, a vast improvement over the 2-to-1 deficit the GOP faced in '95). But all that matters is what happens on Election Day.

The explanation: health insurance coverage typically starts on the first day of a given month, and it takes up to 15 days to process applications.

You still have to be covered by Mar. 31 to avoid the new penalties for remaining uninsured. But to successfully accomplish that you have to send in your application by the middle of February. Coverage would then start on Mar. 1.

The Jackson Hewitt tax preparation company first pointed out the wrinkle with the health care law's least popular requirement.

An administration official confirmed it. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

I-Team: Caramadre Client List

CRANSTON, R.I. - Terence McAuliffe, the former chairman of the national Democratic Party and current Virginia gubernatorial candidate, was one of hundreds of people who invested in variable annuities that used terminally ill patients as the annuitants.

McAuliffe and others became owners of the investment instruments through Cranston estate planner Joseph Caramadre. Caramadre pleaded guilty to stealing the identities of terminally ill patients and using that information to falsely apply for annuities and bonds with death puts.

Prosecutors said Caramadre cost insurance companies between $37 million and $48 million from the scheme.

Oklahoma Suit May End Obamacare

Political pundit Dick Morris believes that a suit brought by Oklahoma against Obamacare could be what ultimately knocks down the president's healthcare law.

"Why didn't anyone else think of it?"Morris wrote in The Hill. "Unlike the suit brought by 26 state attorney generals, this suit does not make a constitutional objection to the Affordable Care Act. Instead, it uses the language of the law to challenge the elaborate system of subsidies, tax credits, and individual or employer mandates and fines the act has spawned."

The suit, filed by Oklahoma's Republican Attorney General Scott Pruitt, was published in the Case Western Reserve School of Law Journal. The article contends that the wording of the Affordable Care Act only allows a subsidy for health insurance for those who got their coverage through state exchanges rather than the federal exchange.
