Actress and liberal activist Jane Fonda railed against the environmental impact of palm oil and singled out its use in some vaginal lubricants.
"I’m embarrassed to admit that up until a few years ago, I didn’t know anything about the evils of palm oil," the 82-year-old Fonda said in a speech at a Friday climate protest in Washington, D.C.
Referencing Grace and Frankie, the Netflix series in which she stars with actress Lily Tomlin, Fonda regaled her audience with an anecdote from the second season of the show, when her character, Grace, "very innocently" places palm oil in the homemade vaginal lubricant she planned to sell. Tomlin was arrested during Friday's protests.

Yale Psychiatrist Claims Pelosi Can Subject Trump to ‘Involuntary’ Mental Health Evaluation
Yale Medicine Professor of Psychiatry Bandy X. Lee claims that Speaker Nancy Pelosi has the “right to have [Trump] submit to an involuntary evaluation.”
Professor Lee, of the Yale University School of Medicine, also serves as president of the World Mental Health Coalition. She has been a long-standing and outspoken critic of President Donald Trump, providing “translations” of his communications on her Twitter feed.
Lee was also an editor on The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 27 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President, and is part of a movement demanding that the Judiciary Committee bring a panel of mental health experts to join impeachment proceedings.
“As a co-worker, she has the right to have him submit to an involuntary evaluation, but she has not,” Lee told Salon. “Anyone can call 911 to report someone who seems dangerous, and family members are the most typical ones to do so. But so can co-workers, and even passersby on the street.”

Maybe Democrats have decided that, in the era of President Trump, honesty is no longer required. Or maybe Elizabeth Warren is just too insecure to tell the truth about her own life.
Whatever the reason, the Massachusetts senator has built her campaign on a foundation of exaggerations and misrepresentations.
It's common knowledge by now that Warren, one of the top four 2020 Democratic presidential contenders, identified as a Native American, despite being somewhere between 0.1% and 3% Native American and having zero experience in tribal life. If only her misrepresentations began and ended there.
Ask her constituents in Massachusetts and they may remind you that the senator also fibbed when she promised to serve her full Senate term if reelected in 2018. Her 2020 presidential run began a few weeks after she won that election.
Warren has emphasized again and again that her children attended public schools. Her storyline here suffers from a material omission: Her kids also attended private schools. Perhaps this particular misdirection stems from the fact that she’s campaigning against the school choice programs, which would give disadvantaged kids the same opportunities to pursue private education her children had.

Report: Hundreds of Michigan Election Clerks Are Unaccredited
More than 500 election clerks in Michigan have not been properly accredited to run the state’s elections, according to a recent audit.
“Local election clerks did not meet legal training requirements in 32 counties, 83 cities and 426 townships, a report from the office of Michigan’s auditor general found,” according to the Hill.
Page 19 of Auditor General Doug A. Ringler’s report stated:
"We also reviewed other local election officials to determine if any election officials in those areas were fully accredited. We identified 12 counties, 38 cities, and 290 townships where the clerk had not completed the initial accreditation or continuing education training requirements and no other local election official had achieved full accreditation."
Even though the Bureau of Elections (BOE) directly assigned clerks training and continuing education through an online portal and notified them of the required training via weekly newsletters, the BOE does not have the authority to enforce participation.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — New information was released Saturday morning about another anti-Semitic incident in Brooklyn.
It follows a series of anti-Semitic attacks this week and an increase in overall hate crimes around the city.
Mayor Bill de Blasio said that acts of hate shouldn’t be belittled or explained away when he toured the Chabad World Headquarters in Brooklyn on Friday.
“We see exactly what’s happening, and we will not accept it,” he said.

Trump aide blasts Obama photographer for making millions ‘on official duty with government-owned equipment’
Dan Scavino ripped former White House photographer Pete Souza for allegedly profiting from photographs he took while working on the taxpayer’s dime.
Souza, who was the photographer for the Obama presidency, lashed out at Scavino on Twitter on Saturday. The photographer tweeted that Scavino was violating the Hatch Act for tweeting pro-Trump sentiments. Scavino currently works in the White House as a presidential assistant and director of social media.
Souza retweeted a post from Scavino’s page with the caption, “Hatch Act: Federal employees may not use their official title or authority... and engage in political activity while on duty.”

By passing articles of impeachment, the House has impeached the President. The Senate trial is being held up because House Speaker Nancy Pelosi refuses to send the articles of impeachment formally to the Senate and to name House managers to begin the process. She may withhold the articles until she is assured that the rules of a Senate trial are, in her view, fair — that they will include, among other things, an opportunity for Senate Democrats to call witnesses of their choosing and introduce documents they consider relevant to the proceedings.

It cannot dictate procedures in the Senate any more than the Senate could dictate the rules of impeachment in the House. DFW.CBS Local reports that the alleged gunman entered the church, walked up toward the front, and opened fire just before 10 a.m.
A church member who serves on the church security quickly shot the alleged gunman.
NBC Fort Worth reports that two people were killed and another person was injured.

Back then, he was being blasted for his medical school yearbook page, which featured a photo of two figures, one wearing minstrel-like blackface getup, and the other in a full hooded Ku Klux Klan costume. We still don't know which one Northam was in that picture, he has yet to say, nor has he let us in on who his pal was, nor even told us where on earth he managed to get hold of a Klan suit.
It's now a-O.K., according to the Post's editorial page, they've issued their absolution, he's free to go about the state now, he has their imprimatur, which is kind of disgusting.
Here's the gag-inducing exoneration:

Maryland State Police Investigating Small Plane Crash In Prince George’s County
(NEW CARROLLTON, MD) – Maryland State Police are on the scene of a small plane crash that occurred this afternoon in Prince George’s County.
At about 3:10 p.m. today, troopers from the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack responded to 6300 block of Chestnut Avenue in New Carrollton, Maryland on a report of a single-engine plane crash. According to a preliminary investigation, the plane had departed the College Park Airport just minutes prior to crashing. The plane crashed into a carport of a single-family home, then struck a vehicle with both the plane and the vehicle catching on fire.
The pilot, whose identification is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, is the one confirmed fatality at this time. No one was occupied in the home at the time of the crash, according to a preliminary investigation. At least 18 homes lost power in the area as a result of the crash.
The Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department arrived on the scene to handle the fire associated with the crash. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been notified. The Prince George’s County Police Department is assisting in this investigation. The New Carrollton Police Department also assisted at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

As Chesapeake Bay Oyster Population Declines, Debate Continues Over How To Help Species Rebound
BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The oyster population in the Chesapeake Bay is in sharp decline, prompting state leaders to try multiple tactics to improve the species’ numbers.
A state assessment shows the number of oysters in the bay is down significantly — cut in half over the past two decades.
“Between 1999 and 2017, oyster populations declined from 600 million to 300 million adult oysters,” said Allison Colden with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
The morning brings hope for Robert Brown with the Maryland Watermen’s Association. As he pulls a fresh pile of oysters from the bay’s floor, he keeps some while others are tossed back into the water.
