Something worth reading
On Monday, a friend played the Disney Lake Buena Vista course. As usual the starters matched him with three other players. After a few holes they began to get to know each other a bit. This is the rest of what he reports.
One fellow was rather young and had his wife riding along in the golf cart with him. I noticed that his golf bag had his name on it and after closer inspection it also said - "wounded war veterans."
When I had my first chance to chat with him I asked him about the bag. His response was simply that it was a gift. I then asked if he was wounded and he said yes. When I asked more about his injury, his response was, "I'd rather not talk about it, sir".
Over a few holes I learned that he had spent the last 15 months in an army rehabilitation hospital in San Antonio , Texas . His wife moved there to be with him and he was released from the hospital in September. He was a rather quiet fellow; however, he did say that he wanted to get good at golf.
We had a nice round and as we became a bit more familiar I asked him about the brand new set of Ping woods and irons he was playing. Some looked like they had never been hit. His response was simple.
He said that this round was the first full round he had played with
these clubs. Later in the round he told me the following.
As part of the discharge process from the rehabilitation hospital,
Ping comes in and provides three days of golf instruction, followed by club fitting.
Upon discharge from the hospital, Ping gives each of the discharged veterans, generally about 40 soldiers, a brand new set of custom fitted clubs along with the impressive golf bags.
The fellow I met was named Ben Woods and he looked me in the eye and said that being fitted for those clubs was one of the best things that ever happened to him and he was determined to learn to play golf well enough to deserve the gift Ping had given him.
Ben is now out of the service, medically discharged just a month ago. He is as fine a young man as you would ever want to meet.
Ping, whose products are made with pride in Arizona , has the good
judgment not to advertise this program.
This sure beats the heck out of Nike's million dollars giveaways to
athletes who will not respect our flag nor our Country. Ping , on the
other hand, renews your faith in mankind, or at least the class of the
PING Corporation. Too bad PING doesn't take advantage of this
wonderful program by advertising it. You can bet the Media won't do it for them

Iowa man's funny obituary goes viral, apologizing to those he 'offended' and wishing God 'good luck'
One late Iowa man will be honorably remembered as a legend in both life and death, thanks to a now-viral obituary that apologizes to those he “offended” with his gruff honesty, and wishes God “good luck” in welcoming the Army veteran to the other side.
Tim Schrandt of Spillville “made his last inappropriate comment” on March 29 and passed away after a “short” battle with cancer at age 63, as per the obit. His folks said that he will be remembered for always wearing shirts “unbuttoned three-quarters down,” “getting the beer and ice for family reunions” and his fearless way of approaching life.
“If you are wondering if you may have ever met him, you didn't — because you WOULD remember. For those of you that did meet him, we apologize, as we're sure he probably offended you," the eulogy read. "He was world renowned for not holding back and telling it like it is."
Born in 1955, the eulogy explained that Schrandt arrived in the world “100 years too late” as his personality would have made for an ideal “weathered cowboy in the old west or rough and tough pioneer,” though the author reported that he, perhaps, “should have been Amish.”

Judicial Watch announced Friday that it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the U.S. Department of State for communications between Obama Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Ambassador Victoria Nuland and employees of Fusion GPS, as well as top ranking Department of Justice, FBI, and State Department officials.
Nuland served as Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs from September 2013 until January 2017.

Deadly Candida Auris Fungus Is Pervasive Threat Amid Secrecy
Worldwide cases of an infection known as Candida auris have become an "urgent threat," unveiling the dangers of drug-resistant germs for both bacteria and fungi from a cloud of secrecy over fear of public hysteria, The New York Times reported.
"It's an enormous problem," professor of fungal epidemiology at Imperial College London Matthew Fisher told the Times. "We depend on being able to treat those patients with anti-fungals."
The symptoms are similar to flu-like conditions – fever, aches, and fatigue – and the "superbugs" resistant to medicine are most problematic for people, fatal even, with weak immune systems, particularly newborns, the elderly, and diabetics, according to the report.

Four Democratic senators who voted against protecting newborns sponsored a bill designed to protect baby cats.
Senators Jeff Merkley (D., Ore.), Cory Booker (D., N.J.), Gary Peters (D., Mich.), and Tom Udall (D., N.M.) cosponsored a bill designed to put an end to animal testing using kittens. The KITTEN Act of 2019 came after it was revealed that the Department of Agriculture was testing suspect Chinese meat on cats, posing a potentially fatal risk to the felines. It was introduced about a week after all of those Democratic senators voted to block legislation that would have required doctors to provide medical care to newborns who survive abortion.
The contrast between those two positions prompted public outcry from those working to safeguard the lives of children. Lauren Fine, spokeswoman for Rep. Steve Scalise (R., La.), said that Democrats should show as much compassion for infants as they do for cats.
"There is nothing more valuable than human life, and as a society we must defend it at every stage," she said. "It's unfathomable that Democrats can find time to defend the lives of kittens, but at the same time are vehemently opposed to even the consideration of legislation designed to protect infants born alive during an abortion from being killed."

Bernie Sanders: Let Convicted Felons in Prison Vote
Senator Bernie Sanders this weekend said at a town hall in Iowa that states should give convicted felons currently behind bars the right to vote.
Bernie’s home state of Vermont and fellow New England state, Maine currently allow convicted felons to vote in prison.
At a town hall meeting in Muscatine’s West Middle School gymnasium Saturday, the Socialist Vermont senator was asked whether felons behind bars should have the right to vote, the Des Moines Register reported.
“In my state, what we do is separate. You’re paying a price, you committed a crime, you’re in jail. That’s bad,” he said. “But you’re still living in American society and you have a right to vote.
“I believe in that, yes, I do.”

Chinese intelligence services have sent “thousands” of people to U.S. colleges under the guise of college students and professors, federal officials said.
“We want to encourage people to come here and study,” Andrew Lelling, the U.S. attorney for Massachusetts, told reporters Friday. “This isn’t about targeting everyone who’s a Chinese national. But there are thousands who are directly linked to a state-sponsored effort to steal intellectual property.”

Kobach to Trump: End Remittances to Mexico
Former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach says President Trump can stop mass illegal immigration and asylum fraud, as well as boost the American economy, by unilaterally ending all remittances to Mexico.
In an exclusive interview with SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart News Tonight, Kobach said Trump should replace his prolonged threat to Mexico — where he said he will wait a year before he puts pressure on the country — with an executive regulation that threatens to end all remittances by illegal aliens in the U.S. back to Mexico.
The threat to end remittances, Kobach detailed, can be used to force Mexico into an agreement with the U.S. that bans Central American nationals from passing through Mexico to get to the U.S. to claim asylum despite Mexico having a robust asylum system. The policy, Kobach said, would ensure that Central Americans claim asylum in the first eligible country they travel to.

"The threat I propose is one that actually helps us if we follow through on it. Ukrainian to US prosecutors: Why don't you want our evidence on Democrats?
Ukrainian law enforcement officials believe they have evidence of wrongdoing by American Democrats and their allies in Kiev, ranging from 2016 election interference to obstructing criminal probes. But, they say, they’ve been thwarted in trying to get the Trump Justice Department to act.
Kostiantyn Kulyk, deputy head of the Prosecutor General’s International Legal Cooperation Department, told me he and other senior law enforcement officials tried unsuccessfully since last year to get visas from the U.S. Embassy in Kiev to deliver their evidence to Washington.
“We were supposed to share this information during a working trip to the United States,” Kulyk told me in a wide-ranging interview. “However, the [U.S.] ambassador blocked us from obtaining a visa. She didn’t explicitly deny our visa, but also didn’t give it to us.”
One focus of Ukrainian investigators, Kulyk said, has been money spirited unlawfully out of Ukraine and moved to the United States by businessmen friendly to the prior, pro-Russia regime of Viktor Yanukovych.

DEMOCRATS AND MEDIA FALL FOR OLD, DECEPTIVELY EDITED CLIP OF TRUMP ON MS-13
Democrats and members of the establishment media fell for a viral clip purporting that President Donald Trump called asylum seekers “animals” on Friday at an immigration roundtable.
In reality, the clip in question is from an event in May 2018 when the president was clearly referring to members of the MS-13 gang as “animals.” At the time, CSPAN posted a deceptively edited clip that cut out someone else’s remark about MS-13 that the president responded to, making it sound like Trump was talking about immigrants more generally.
The shortened clip was reposted on Friday by Twitter user Mark Elliot, who falsely claimed that the president was referring to “people asking for asylum” and did not indicate that Trump’s remarks were not new.

HE WAS CHIEF JUSTICE OF A STATE SUPREME COURT. HE JUST REPORTED TO JAIL
Former West Virginia Supreme Court Chief Justice Allen Loughry surrendered at a federal prison facility in South Carolina Friday, where he will serve a two-year sentence for crimes relating to a sweeping public corruption scandal.
A federal judge sentenced the disgraced ex-justice in February, following his conviction for wire fraud, mail fraud and lying to federal investigators.
In addition to criminal penalties, Loughry was disbarred from legal practice, agreed never to seek public office again and paid fines totaling $12,000.
Local press accounts of lavish renovations at the state Supreme Court set off an audit of the justice’s spending practices. That inquiry discovered that Loughry and another justice, Menis Ketchum, used state resources for personal purposes. A federal investigation followed, leading to a battery of criminal charges against Loughry and Ketchum.
