22-Year-Old With Concealed Carry Stops Tennessee Church Shooter

A 22-year-old with a concealed carry license stopped a shooter at a Tennessee church after being “pistol-whipped” in the face.

Robert Engle “physically engaged” shooting suspect Emanuel K. Samson on Sunday, stopping a rampage that already had killed one and wounded seven other people, Nashville Police Chief Steve Anderson said during a news conference.

“He’s the hero. He’s the person who stopped this madness,” Anderson said.

Samson allegedly entered Burnette Chapel Church of Christ in Antioch, Tenn., around 11 a.m. CST and opened fire on more than 40 people inside. Samson had two firearms, according to police, but it’s unclear whether he used both weapons.

Forgetting Where You Came From

In a day and age where professional football stadiums are now reaching a billion dollars to build, YOU need to remember just where the funding comes from to fully construct such facilities.

I can recall having a one on one meeting with Governor Glendenning many years ago. At the time he agreed to provide $250,000,000.00 for EACH team. The Ravens were just coming to Maryland and the Redskins were attempting to build their new stadium.

In our discussion Mr. Glendenning asked me flat out, what's your thoughts on these investments. I immediately replied, are you busing people in from Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia to watch the games? He replied, no. I said, why are Maryland taxpayers subjected to footing the bill for each stadium. He replied, each stadium will bring in $35,000,000.00 a year in tax revenue. I said, that's my point. I can see if fans from other states were paying those taxes BUT the reality is, it's Maryland taxpayers footing the bill to build them and Maryland taxpayers subsidizing the taxes to keep them afloat, it makes no sense to me!

All that being said, ALL OF US, WE pay for these teams and WE have every right to be upset with their lack of respect. Let me also add, back when I spoke to Glendenning there was a NINE YEAR waiting list just to get season tickets with the Redskins. That means that if you and I, (taxpayers) wanted to get our own season tickets to see games WE PAID FOR, we cannot. So every Maryland taxpayer was screwed right out of the gate. Whether we paid for the stadium and or the infrastructure, the miles and miles of parking lots ultimately hurt our environment. Our waste water treatment plants are overwhelmed. There are numerous unforeseen impacts well above and beyond just the stadiums.

So IF YOU feel like YOU don't have a say in what the NFL and our local teams are doing, you are very wrong. In fact, you have more say then the very people holding season tickets because you paid for all of it, (at least half a billion dollars worth) yet you don't get to enjoy it.

My children were raised to respect the American Flag and our National Anthem. It's time we send a message by boycotting a very select few people smacking "We The People"  in the face. I firmly believe in our First Amendment Rights. I respect the Pittsburgh Steelers for staying in the locker room and privately expressing their rights. However, the moment you go on national television and grandstand while smacking "We The People" who built the very house they play in, they can kiss my rear end.

I firmly believe this will crush the NFL. Let's see where this post takes us.

Salaries and Benefits of US Congress Members: The Truth -- Don't Believe Those Emails

A massively-sent chain email states, “Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term.” Well, maybe many citizens do not have that idea, because it is just flat wrong. Another infamous email demanding passage of a mythical “Congressional Reform Act” claims members of Congress do not pay Social Security taxes. That, too, is wrong

Salaries and benefits of members of the U.S. Congress have been the source of taxpayer unhappiness and myths over the years.

Here are some facts for your consideration.

As of 2017, the base salary for all rank-and-file members of the U.S. House and Senate was $174,000 per year, plus benefits. Salaries have not been increased since 2009. Compared to private-sector salaries, the salaries of members of Congress is lower than many mid-level executives and managers.

RANK-AND-FILE MEMBERS:

The current salary (2017) for rank-and-file members of the House and Senate is $174,000 per year.

No, Leftists, the Electoral College Is Not a ‘National Security Threat’

Following Hillary Clinton’s electoral defeat and Donald Trump’s ascension to the White House, numerous progressives came out of the woodwork to call for the end of the Electoral College in favor of a national popular vote.

While most of the arguments against our over two-century-old system revolve around it not being purely democratic and being weighted toward smaller states, a recent commentary in Politico has stretched that attack to an absurd limit.

Matthew Olsen, a member of the National Security Agency under President Barack Obama, and Benjamin Haas, a West Point graduate and current student at Stanford University, argued that the Electoral College is antiquated and even dangerous because hostile foreign powers can micro-target populations in certain states to tip the election.

Further, the writers argue that the Founders couldn’t possibly have imagined how new technology, like Facebook, could perpetuate false ideas and that foreign powers would disseminate lies.

This leads them to suggest moving to a national popular vote, which they suggest is somehow a safer way to elect presidents.

Their arguments demonstrate both an amazing amount of hubris in assuming they, our nouveau elite, know better than the Founders, and stunning ignorance in thinking the creators of the Constitution had no experience with “fake news.”

School Board Condones Transgender Propaganda in Kindergarten, Denies Parents Opt-Out Option

A California school board has declared that teachers can promote transgenderism to five year-old students – and that the chilrens' parents can’t keep their kids from being subjected to the propaganda.

RedState reports that the controversy involving the Rocklin Academy public school system first began when a kindergarten teacher went “outside the curriculum” one day in class:

“The controversial vote came about after a kindergarten teacher read “I Am Jazz” — a book about a transgender child’s transition to the opposite sex — and then allegedly held something of a ‘transition ceremony’ where a young boy went into a bathroom, and then reemerged dressed in girl’s clothing. The teacher identified the boy as a girl, with a girl’s name.”

“Rocklin Academy has allowed the teaching of controversial material outside of the curriculum, so long as they tell the parents they’re going to do it first. However, the parents can do nothing about it, as they won’t be allowed to remove their child from the classroom as it’s happening.”

Congressman Harris Visits Wye House, Childhood Home of Frederick Douglass

WASHINGTON, DC: On September 21, Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01) visited Wye House, the historic plantation house in Talbot County where abolitionist and author Frederick Douglass spent part of his childhood. Born into slavery, Frederick Douglass spent part of his childhood on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, before escaping to freedom in 1838.

Dr. Mark Leone, an archaeologist and professor of Anthropology at the University of Maryland, led a recent excavation at Wye House. Dr. Leone toured the property with Congressman Harris and shared the findings of the excavation. Congressman Harris and Dr. Leone issued the following statements after the tour:

“It is a privilege to explore the rich history of Frederick Douglass and the other enslaved peoples of Wye House, and it is truly remarkable to see firsthand the origins of modern African American heritage and culture. Frederick Douglass’ work stretched far beyond the fight for legal freedom, into the equally important fight for social and cultural equality. The research conducted by Dr. Leone and his students at Wye House will allow Marylanders more access to the impressive history of Frederick Douglass and the resounding impact his work has had on modern American culture.”

--Congressman Andy Harris

“Wye House is important to Frederick Douglass, to Talbot County, to Maryland, and to all of its descendants. Our commitment has been to discovering African American heritage through archaeology. [Our] discoveries show us the creative culture that Frederick Douglass knew and fought to free. The archaeology shows us the community that produced him and his values. Thus, preserving it during his bicentenary is guaranteeing American freedom.”

--Dr. Mark Leone

Earlier this year, Congressman Harris and Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (DC-At large) introduced H.R. 2989, the Frederick Douglass Bicentennial Commission Act. The legislation will establish a commission to study and recommend to Congress activities that are fitting to commemorate the bicentennial anniversary of Frederick Douglass’ birth.

Logical Reasons Why Some Men Have Dogs And Not Wives

The later you are, the more excited your dog is to see you.

Dogs don't notice if you call them by another dog's name.

Dogs like it if you leave lotsof things on the floor.

Dogs' parents never visit.

Dogs agree that you have to raise your voice to get your point across.

You never have to wait for a dog; they're ready to go, instantly, 24 hours a day.

Dogs find you amusing when you're pissed.

Dogs like to go hunting and fishing.

Dogs won't wake you up at night to ask: "If I died, would you get another dog?"

If a dog has babies, you can put an ad in the paper and sell 'em.

When you drop a silent one, dogs don't run around frantically with room spray.

Dogs never tell you to stop scratching your balls. Instead, they sit pondering why you don't lick 'em.

Dogs will let you put a studded collar on, without calling you a pervert.

And last, but not least: If a dog runs off and leaves you, it won't take half your stuff.

To verify these statements: Lock your wife and your dog in the garage for an hour.

Then open the door, and observe who's happy to see you!

Obamacare Repeal Officially Dead After Cruz Says No

In a sudden change of heart that kills senate Republicans’ effort to pass a bill to repeal and replace Obamacare before a rule allowing Republicans to circumvent a Democratic filibuster expires at the end of the month, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is now saying he won’t support the Graham-Cassidy Obamacare repeal bill.

Cruz, who revealed his position during a panel discussion at a Texas Tribune conference in Austin, suggested that the proposal also lacks the vote of Sen. Mike Lee, according to Politico. The Texas Republican said he and Lee offered amendments to the Graham-Cassidy proposal last week that would go further in bringing down Obamacare premiums but that the changes weren’t included in the latest draft of the bill.
