Community partners recognized at annual Wicomico County tourism reception

Salisbury, MD – Wicomico County’s tourism division recognized its strongest partners during a reception and awards ceremony on Wednesday, May 24 at the Wicomico County Visitor’s Center. Held annually since 2000, the reception recognizes community members and businesses who have dedicated themselves to supporting tourism initiatives in Wicomico County.

In Fiscal Year 2017, Wicomico County’s tourism division sold or held 50 events, 7 of which were of regional or national caliber. These events generated over 35,000 hotel room nights, 130,000 visitors and an estimated economic impact of $50 million. This success is due in part to tourism’s many community partners. These partners help the county recruit new events, retain and grow current events and welcome event attendees into the community. This year’s tourism award recipients included:

Tourism Volunteer Award: The Rotary Club of Salisbury (accepted by Dan Williams and Art Cooley)

The Rotary Club of Salisbury has been an integral partner in supporting the Governor’s Challenge Basketball Tournament held at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center each December. In 2016, the Rotary Club of Salisbury brought Governor’s Challenge sponsorship sales to record levels, raising awareness of the event and contributing to its success. The benefits of their work extended beyond the tournament. Their new 3-Point Initiative grant recycled the commission earned from sponsorship sales back into the community to support local non-profit organizations.

Passport Application Letter

ACTUAL PASSPORT APPLICATION LETTER SENT BACK TO STATE DEPARTMENT

Dear Mrs.. Ms. Or Sir: I'm in the process of renewing my passport and still cannot believe this. How is it that Radio Shack has my address and telephone number and knows that I bought a cable TV from them in 1987 (23 years ago), and yet, the Federal Government is still asking me where I was born and on what date. For Christ sake's, do you guys do this by hand? Ever heard of computers?

My birth date you have in my social security file. It's on EVERY income tax form I've filed for the past 30 years. It's on my Medicare health insurance card and my driver's license, it's on the last eight damn passports I've had, it's on every stupid customs declaration form I've had to fill out before being allowed off the plane for the last 30 years. And it's on all those census forms that we have to do at election times. Would somebody please take note, once and for all, that my mother's name is Maryanne, my father's name is Robert and I'm reasonably confident that neither name is likely to change between now and when I die.

Between you an' me, I've had enough of this bureaucratic bullshit! You send the application to my house, then you ask me for my #*&#%*& address. What is going on? You must have a gang of bureaucratic Neanderthal morons working there! Look at my damn picture. Do I look like Bin Laden? And "No," I don't want to dig up Yasser Arafat, for shit sake's. I just want to go and park my ass on a sandy beach. And would someone please tell me, why would
you give a damn whether I plan on visiting a farm in the next 15 days? If I ever got the urge to do something weird to a chicken or a goat, believe you me, I'd sure as hell not want to tell anyone!

Well, I have to go now because I have to go to the other end of the city and get another #*@&#^@*@& copy of my birth certificate to the tune of $100. Would it be so difficult to have all the services in the same area so I could get a new passport the same day? Nooooo, that would require planning and organization. And it would be too logical for the @&^*^%@% government. You'd rather have us running all over the place like chickens with our heads cut off. Then, we have to find some asshole to confirm that it's really me in the damn picture - you know, the one where we're not allowed to
smile...Hey, you know why we can't smile? We're totally pissed off!

Signed - An Irate Citizen.

P.S. Remember what I wrote about getting someone to confirm that the picture is me? Well, my family has been in the United States of America since 1776. I have served in the military for something over 35 years and have had security clearances up the ying yang. However, I have to get someone important to verify who I am - you know, someone like my doctor....WHO WAS BORN AND RAISED IN INDIA!

And you a-holes want to run our health care system?????

One man has been arrested in connection with the haul - even though they were searching the area in connection with a completely separate crime.

Bogus ‘movie money’ scam prompts police warning

WASHINGTON — At first glance, the $100 bills looked real. By the third glance, they were clearly worthless.

A Maryland college student has learned an expensive lesson about the ease in which criminals can scam unsuspecting victims using fake “movie money,” which is used in motion picture shoots.

Hannah Buehrle, of Frederick, told NBC Washington she wanted to sell her iPhone 6 to help pay for a Memorial Day weekend trip to the beach.

On May 15, she advertised the phone on the Letgo app.

A man who identified himself as Xavier agreed to buy the phone for $450.

According to Montgomery County Police, Xavier told the victim he only had five $100 bills, and would give her the $500 if she would give him $50 in return.

Authorities express concerns over oxycodone pills laced with fentanyl

PIKESVILLE, Md. —The growing concern from forensic scientists and law enforcement officials alike in Maryland is that someone who actually needs oxycodone for a medical reason could take a laced pill.

So far, there have been three such situations in Maryland where the tainted pills have been found.

"If you're buying something off the street, you don't know what you're getting and what's in it," Anne Arundel County police spokesman Marc Limansky said.

It's a simple statement, but one that could save lives.

Since last year, Anne Arundel County police said there have been two occasions where police found oxycodone pills cut with the deadly opioid fentanyl.

Bombshell: Donna Brazile warned off private eye on Seth Rich murder

Ex-DNC chairwoman reportedly asked cops why investigator is 'snooping' into mysterious case

WASHINGTON –
Former Democratic National Committee interim chairwoman Donna Brazile is the high-ranking DNC representative who allegedly called police and the family of murdered DNC staffer Seth Rich and demanded to know why a private investigator was “snooping” into Rich’s death, the private eye revealed to WND Monday.

“The high-ranking DNC official that called the police after I inquired about Rich’s case was Donna Brazile,” veteran homicide detective Rod Wheeler told WND. “Why shouldn’t I reveal who it was?”

Brazile, who was also a CNN contributor and a Hillary for America donor at the time, was caught providing Democratic Party nominee Hillary Clinton with questions that would later be asked of Clinton at a televised CNN town hall. In an interview with Fox News before the election, Brazile denied leaking the questions to Clinton. But in a March 17, 2017, column for Time magazine, she finally admitted doing so, saying it was a “mistake I will forever regret.”

CNN Analyst Proposes Manchester Bombing Was 'False Flag'

A CNN analyst suggested that the Manchester bombing could have been a false flag during a segment Monday night.

During Anderson Cooper’s AC360 , CNN terror analyst Paul Cruickshank admitted that a suicide bomber was more than likely responsible for the explosion at Manchester Arena after an Ariana Grande concert ended. However, he floated the idea that the bombing could have been part of a right wing extremist plot.

“It must also be noted that in recent months in Europe, there’s been a number of false flag plots where right wing have been trying to blame Islamists for terrorism,” Cruickshank said. “We have seen that in Germany in recent weeks.”

White House leakers IDed, Trump poised to fire 'multiple staffers'

President Trump is expected to deploy his signature catchphrase from “The Apprentice” when he returns from a tour of the Middle East and Europe that runs through this week.

Sources in the White House told One America News Network that Trump will tell multiple staffers who allegedly leaked classified information that “you’re fired” and could pursue criminal charges against them for putting Americans at risk.

“A source here at the White House told me that three people have been identified as leaking classified information,” OAN’s Trey Yingst said in a live broadcast reposted to YouTube Monday. “This has been a major issue for the Trump administration since President Trump came into office on Jan. 20., inauguration day, here in Washington, D.C.

“One of the sources I spoke with today is telling me this is criminal, people could go to jail. That source went on to say that this is dangerous and terrible.”

Multiple sources told OAN Trump is “extremely concerned” about a leak last week pertaining to information about Syrian radicals potentially using laptop bombs on commercial airliners – a method that could be used to target the United States.

“It was leaked to the media. It was leaked from a classified format and that is one of the many leaks that has come out of this White House in the past few weeks that has been a major concern to President Trump,” Yingst said.

Yingst explained the process for the upcoming terminations.

University of Maryland president announces anti-hate action plan

WASHINGTON — University of Maryland President Wallace Loh outlined new anti-hate initiatives Wednesday in the wake of last weekend’s fatal campus stabbing.

The killing of Lt. Richard Collins III, a Bowie State University student who was set to graduate this week, is being investigated as a possible hate crime. Suspect Sean Christopher Urbanski was reportedly a member of a white supremacist Facebook group called “Alt-Reich: Nation.”

Wednesday evening, Loh urged students to allow authorities the time “to do their work with due diligence.”

But beyond that, he said, “we must do more.”

Ocean City beachgoers are warned to be mindful of pedestrians

STEVENSVILLE, Md. — When getting footloose and carefree at the beach, don’t forget pedestrian road rules, officials warn as they gear up for a busy Memorial Day weekend.

“You need to obey the laws. You need to use crosswalks. You need to use the signaled intersections,” Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan said while expressing condolences to the family of a man fatally struck May 21 by a car in the resort town.

The 23-year-old Pennsylvania man who was killed was not in a crosswalk. A 50-year-old Waldorf, Maryland, man is charged with drunken driving in the fatal crash.

Meehan discussed Ocean City’s Walk Smart campaign with WTOP at Tuesday’s safety event, sponsored by AAA Mid-Atlantic and held near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

Caught On Tape: Wasserman Schultz Threatens Police Chief For Investigating Her IT Staff's Crimes

The brothers were barred from computer networks at the House of Representatives Thursday, The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group has learned.

Three members of the intelligence panel and five members of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs were among the dozens of members who employed the suspects on a shared basis. The two committees deal with many of the nation’s most sensitive issues, information and documents, including those related to the war on terrorism.

The brothers are suspected of serious violations, including accessing members’ computer networks without their knowledge and stealing equipment from Congress.

The three men are “shared employees,” meaning they are hired by multiple offices, which split their salaries and use them as needed for IT services.

Then in March, we noted that House Democrats decided to delay the firing (until today) because their Muslim background, some with ties to Pakistan, could make them easy targets for false charges.
