Federal Prosecutors: Drug Ring Sold Heroin Through Facebook, Snapchat

Legitimate businesses aren’t the only people using social media to reach customers, and online drug sales apparently aren’t relegated to darknet markets. Federal prosecutors say an alleged drug ring operating in Atlanta took advantage of various social platforms to advertise and accept heroin orders.

She backed out of testifying against her boyfriend in a Norfolk murder case. Then he killed her.

Chasity Parker was too scared to testify against her boyfriend in one of two murder cases against him that fell apart.

Then Steven Taquan Williams murdered her.

Williams, 24, of the 1000 block of Norchester Ave., didn’t beat that charge. He was sentenced Friday to 50 years in prison for gunning down Parker, 21, and stealing the gun he used to kill her.

He shot her at least six times on July 28, 2015, as she hid in a linen closet in the 3300 block of Kimball Terrace. She’d recently moved to her great-grandmother’s apartment to help take care of her.

Williams pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and three gun charges in September. In a separate case, he pleaded guilty to robbery and a gun charge. In exchange, prosecutor Charlotte Purkey agreed to cap his sentence at 50 years.

Gatestone Institute: Trump Fires Up Europe's Anti-Establishment Movement

The populist, anti-establishment parties of Europe are taking inspiration from the Presidency of Donald J Trump in the United States, remarks the Gatestone Institute in a new report.

Inspired by the inauguration of U.S. President Donald J. Trump, the leaders of Europe’s main anti-establishment parties have held a pan-European rally aimed at coordinating a political strategy to mobilize potentially millions of disillusioned voters in upcoming elections in Germany, the Netherlands and France.

Appearing together in public for the first time, Marine Le Pen, leader of the French National Front, Frauke Petry, leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD), Geert Wilders, leader of the Dutch Party for Freedom (PVV), Matteo Salvini, leader of Italy’s Northern League and Harald Vilimsky of Austria’s Freedom Party gathered on January 21 at a rally in Koblenz, Germany, where they called on European voters to participate in a “patriotic spring” to topple the European Union, reassert national sovereignty and secure national borders.

Found In D.C. This Past Weekend

Does this surprise you?

How Trump made small-town America matter again

The first time Donald J. Trump stepped onstage in Pennsylvania in April 2016 at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, it was clear something very different was going on in this state, with this candidate.

It was not because the rally was massive, or because it was boisterous, or that it was poorly organized, though all those things were true.

Having already attended 18 of his rallies throughout primary states across the country, I found, in fact, that it looked very familiar.

It was different because it was in Pennsylvania.

It was a campaign that was designed to fail from the very beginning.

Ex-NY Jets Star Mark Gastineau: I Have Dementia, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's

Mark Gastineau is trying to help sack safety issues in football.

And the former New York Jets sack-dancing star wants to use himself as an example of the dangers of playing the game.

The 60-year-old Gastineau said during a radio interview Thursday night with Pete McCarthy on 710 WOR Radio in New York that he was diagnosed with dementia, Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease about a year ago.

"It's disturbing," Gastineau said. "But it's disturbing to the point where I want to get out and I want to help other youths and help other people coming into the game. Right now, I'm able to do it."

A Viewer Writes: Thin Blue Line In Ocean City

The "thin blue line" can be gotten around, if the city chooses. Here's my idea: the regs don't dictate what color the roadway has to be, so put a line of blue glasphalt under or between the yellow road markings. It will not only have the effect of the blue paint, but will have a reflective quality that brings the blue out.

Super Bowl Tickets

My friend has two tickets for the 2017 SUPER BOWL, both box seats. He paid $4,500 for each ticket. But he didn't realize last year, when he bought them, that the game was going to be on the same day as his scheduled wedding. If you're interested, here’s a good deal for someone who'll take his place.

It's at Temple of God Church, in Ft Myers at 3pm. Her name is Rosemary, she's 5’ 2", about 120 lbs, very pretty, and an excellent cook. She'll be the one in the white dress.

A Letter To The Editor: Re. 32 Annual Birthday Celebration and Commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

At the MLK Dinner at the Wicomico County Youth and Civic Center last night, January 16, 2017, the person that did the opening prayer for the banquet started ragging on President Elect Donald Trump and made some threatening comments about him. He was also making comments daring trump to cut the budget on different welfare programs. It was ugly and uncomfortable for some people in the audience. I heard people saying they will never attend another NAACP function again, especially the MLK Banquet.

I think the person was a so call preacher by the name of Bishop Anthony Dickerson, New Greater Mt. Olive Full Gospel Baptist Church, Cambridge Maryland. That man is a racist person and he was inciting a riot. That "prayer" was very inappropriate for a publicly funded youth and civic center.

Sheriff Mike Lewis: "Heading Into Harms Way"

OK, I've been receiving multiple messages referencing Sheriff Mike Lewis sending 25 Officers to Washington D.C. for President Trump's inauguration. Many are upset for a couple main reasons. One, who will be protecting Wicomico County and two, who is paying for this.

Look, I have a few thoughts on this matter. One, it's not often in a Police Officers life they get a chance to participate in such a historic event. Since Jake Day and Chief Barbara Duncan claim crime is way down in Salisbury, hey, maybe these Officers aren't necessary anyway.

Here's what does bother me though. When Sheriff Mike Lewis gets on television and puts on the Mike Lewis Show like he did yesterday. Yeah, it does make me kind of throw up in my mouth every so often. Mike said, we are definitely heading into harms way.

REALLY MIKE, well what about those of us regular citizens who will be there. Are WE heading into harms way too? Are YOU trying to scare the public into believing YOU are heading into a WAR ZONE, or as you like to say, "GROUND ZERO".

I just think Mike is a drama queen and loves the spotlight. Learn to be a bit more humble. Learn to keep your mouth shut. Go do what ALL of you were professionally trained/paid to do and keep our new President and his supporters safe. Knowing where Mike stands politically though, there's no better leader I'd like to see in Washington D.C. protecting citizens then Sheriff Mike Lewis.

As for who is paying for this trip, well, if we have a bunch of bank robberies, stabbings, gun shots and drug deals, Wicomico County taxpayers will certainly pay for it. However, as a strong believer in Mayor Jake Day and Police Chief Barbara Duncan, IT'S ALL GOOD, THEY GOT THIS. (sarcasm)

Finally, If nothing happens in D.C., it will be because Sheriff Lewis kept us safe. If something does happen, well, we'll be hearing about it for many weeks to come on WBOC and WMDT. In fact, they're probably preparing a commercial as we speak featuring Sheriff Lewis in D.C. stating WE WERE THERE, blah, blah, blah. Oh crap, did I just destroy their unpredictable and ingenious idea?

Anyhow, Sheriff Lewis, you are the man. You are the best of the best. You are our local hero. Golly Gee Willikers, I even have pictures standing next to this guy.
