NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - New York City is known for being a melting pot. One third of the people living in the Big Apple are immigrants.
"The reality is the city as a whole is serving immigrant families every day," said Nisha Agarwal, commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs. She sat down with us to speak about the work the city is doing to help its immigrant community.
"It is very important for New Yorkers to feel very connected to their city government to know the city is providing arraignments through different services and that we are open and accessible to immigrants," she said.
In January of 2015 Mayor Bill de Blasio launched the municipal ID program known as IDNYC, an identification card that allows New Yorkers to receive city benefits and perks no matter what their immigration status is. Agarwal said 900,000 people signed up.
In 2014 the city spent $14 million a year on immigrant services, according to a city budget analysis. Today the city is spending $30 million, launching new programs like Action NYC, a free community-based legal service program. We Are New York provides English language classes and other opportunities to improve English. The city works with organizations like Make the Road New York, which helps with community outreach and with providing these services.
As for the critics who say the city shouldn't be spending tax payer money on these free programs, Agarwal said it is for the greater good of the city. She said that providing these services to immigrants improves the economy, education outcomes, and the health of the city as a whole.

If Hillary Clinton is elected president on Tuesday, and if what Bret Baier is reporting from FBI sources on Fox News is true,America is headed for a constitutional crisis.
Indeed, it would seem imperative that FBI Director James Comey, even if it violates protocol and costs him his job, should state publicly whether what Baier’s FBI sources are telling him is false or true.
The people have a right to know — before Tuesday.
For, if true, Clinton could face charges in 2017 and impeachment and removal from office in 2018.
According to Baier, FBI agents have found new emails, believed to have originated on Clinton’s server, on the computer jointly used by close aide Huma Abedin and her disgraced husband, Anthony Weiner.
Abedin’s failure to turn this computer over to the State Department on leaving State appears to be a violation of U.S. law.
Moreover, the laptops of close Clinton aides Cheryl Mills and Heather Samuelson, thought destroyed by the FBI, were apparently retained and are “being exploited” by the National Security division.
And here is the salient point. His FBI sources told Baier, “with 99 percent” certitude, that Clinton’s Chappaqua server “had been hacked by at least five foreign intelligence services…”

Study: Tradepoint To Create 17,000 Jobs In Sparrows Point
The study was released Thursday night at a meeting for community leaders hosted by the developer and the county.The study conducted by the Sage Policy Group says the project will create 17,000 direct and indirect jobs creating $1.1 billion in new worker income with an economic impact of $3 billion.
The study also expects the project to create 21,000 construction jobs, as the site is developed through 2025.
Tradepoint Atlantic is developing the 3,100 acres as a manufacturing and commerce hub.

Citing a “well-placed source” in the New York Police Department, Blackwater USA founder and retired Navy SEAL Erik Prince claims that among the 650,000 Huma Abedin emails on her estranged husband’s laptop is evidence Hillary Clinton, as well as former President Bill Clinton, was a visitor to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s Caribbean hideaway, known as “Orgy Island.”
Prince told the Breitbart News Daily radio show that Abedin and her estranged husband, former Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner, are now cooperating with authorities in multiple investigations of Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Clinton's Email Server Tech 'Retrieved' Emails
Newly released WikiLeaks emails provide a new theory — offered by a 2008 Hillary Clinton campaign official — for why Clinton’s private email server technician, Bryan Pagliano, avoided testifying to Congress last year by invoking his Fifth Amendment rights.
“Bryan was the one who retrieved all our emails for Maura to read,” Neera Tanden, Clinton’s 2008 policy director, wrote to Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta in a a Sept. 3, 2015 email released on Thursday by WikiLeaks.
“Maybe that is why he’s avoiding testifying,” she added.
News broke that same day that Pagliano, who was the 2008 campaign’s IT director, would take the Fifth instead of testifying in front of the House Select Committee on Benghazi.

Undergraduate applicants must be a Delmarva resident and a student in good standing at any accredited, degree-granting institution in the United States or in the case of graduating high school seniors, accepted to an accredited, degree-granting institution within the United States. Individuals must have an academic major in a subject area relevant to Delmarva's chicken industry and be planning a career in a segment of this industry. An official transcript must accompany each application.
Graduate student applicants must meet the above criteria, with the exception of Delmarva residency. In addition, the individual must be engaged in research that could positively benefit Delmarva's chicken industry.

Presidential election underscores Maryland’s wealth divide
There are Donald Trump signs everywhere.
There are so many Trump signs one might be tempted to question the validity of election forecasts assigning the New York real estate mogul a less than 1 percent chance of winning Maryland.
The Eastern Shore is far and away the reddest territory in the Old Line State. The region boasts Maryland’s lone Republican representative in Congress, Rep. Andrew Harris of Cockeysville. Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney bested President Barack Obama in the district by almost 23 points in 2012, while Obama carried the rest of the state by 25.
There is a clear gap in ideology between the state’s blue urban center and its red outskirts. A major reason is economics, said Stella Rouse, the director of the University of Maryland’s Center for American Politics and Citizenship.
Maryland is, by several measures, the nation’s wealthiest state. The U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey places the state’s median household income at $75,847, up roughly 10 percent from 2010.
But much of that growth and prosperity is concentrated between the metro areas of Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
Wages in the eastern and western rural regions of the state haven’t kept pace with its urban core, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
These blue-collar areas mimic the economies of Rust Belt states like Ohio and Indiana, where wages aren’t as high and the loss of manufacturing jobs has offered Trump more of a receptive audience. Trump leads Clinton by 7 points in Indiana and 2.5 points in Ohio, according to press time polling averages from RealClearPolitics.

The Forgotten Clinton Foundation Review, Rooted In Dallas' Downtown IRS Office
The Earle Cabell Federal Building in downtown Dallas is an all purpose office complex, a bastion of federal bureaucracy located at 1100 Commerce St. Most people come for a passport or to get business done in front of a federal judge. But inside, a quiet review is underway that has direct ties to the raging presidential election: The local branch of the IRS' Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division is reviewing the tax status of the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation.

A Successful Week Of Early Voting As Marylanders Break State Records
Even a non-battle ground state like Maryland is making sure it sends a statement during this historic election.
Baltimore City Election officials say so far there have been no problems with early voting around the city.
Voters in Baltimore County being motivated for a whole slew of reasons.
“I’m very happy to see it over,” said Baltimore County early voter Terry Hogan.
“I’m actually kind of excited because this is my first year voting,” said voter Gabrielle Evans.
The early vote has reached a monumental 877,134 votes, compared to 2012’s 430,000 some votes.
