Obama Deports American Jobs

Obama’s excuse for his illegal amnesty will be that the immigration system is “broken” forcing him to act. But when Obama says that the system is broken, he means that some parts of it still work and so he intends to break immigration all the way through to benefit his own corrupt political allies.

That will hurt his own voters the most, but the Democratic Party has a notoriously masochistic relationship with its voting base. It beats them up and then it gaslights them by hugging them and telling them that it was really the mean Republicans who punched them in the face.

When African-American unemployment rates rise, the workers who can’t find jobs because of all the brand new DREAMERs won’t blame the White House, they’ll blame the evil Republicans for income inequality, assuming Sharpton manages to read the term correctly from his MSNBC teleprompter.

According to Obama our immigration system is broken because it doesn’t allow illegal aliens who illegally crossed the border to take American jobs. That’s not a broken system, that’s what the system is supposed to do.

When illegal aliens aren’t allowed to legally take American jobs, that’s how you know the immigration system is working.

In the language of progressivism, helping means ruining and fixing means breaking. A system that fulfills any useful purpose must be reformed out of all usefulness. If the tattered shreds of the immigration system still keep a single Democratic voter from legally cashing a welfare check and casting a vote, then immigration must be reformed and helped and fixed until it is completely destroyed.

Teaching hate

“You’ve got to be taught to hate…” (Oscar Hammerstein, “South Pacific”)

The murder on Tuesday of five people and the serious wounding of several others while they were praying at a synagogue in Jerusalem is only the latest in a continuing pattern of violence and hatred directed against Israel and the Jewish people. It also replays a familiar scenario: terrorist act is followed by condemnation (though not as strong as when Israel is perceived to be responsible for Palestinian deaths), followed by threats of retaliation.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas associated himself with those condemning the synagogue murders, but given his past and recent statements his sincerity is about as credible as those in the Obama administration who claim never to have heard of Jonathan Gruber.

Abbas’ hands are stained with Israeli blood and cannot be washed away by statements of condemnation. He and his advisers and fellow ideologues are on record as advocating not the peace they claim to want when speaking to the West, but the complete eradication of Israel and elimination of every Jew from their prospective Palestinian state. This is an undeniable fact as even a cursory web search reveals.

In a recent speech, Yossi Kuperwasser, the director-general of Israel’s Strategic Affairs Ministry, charged that hateful beliefs against Israelis and Jews are ingrained in the Palestinian psyche from birth and include indoctrination by textbook, social media and cultural activities. He might have added religious mandate.

These anti-Semitic attacks were summarized by Kuperwasser: Jews are “descended (from) apes and pigs (and) Have no historical connection” to Jerusalem, are “defiling” the capital “with their presence,” and if Palestinians kill them the killers will “become a hero.” These, he said, are the core beliefs of the Palestinian “psychological infrastructure.”

The 50 Most Comfortable Prisons in the World

I was curious about the menus at Maryland prisons. Didn't find much.

What I did find was this. I'm amazed at how many of the nicest prisons are in the U.S. Federal system, mostly occupied by non-violent white collar criminals, like Martha Stewart, etc.

Sometimes prison just isn’t that bad. Whether you’re looking for a good place to self-serve or you’re just curious about the conditions of luxurious penitentiaries, here are 50 of the best prisons in the world.

1. Halden Prison (Halden, Norway)

American farmers are raising hogs that are too fat to make holiday hams - raising prices 26percent

American farmers are raising pigs that are too fat to make traditional 7lb holiday hams - causing the prices of the the Christmas favorite to skyrocket.

Hog producers are taking their pigs to slaughter weighing more than 215lbs - a record high for pork producers.

As a result, the hams that are being taken from the fatter pigs are five to seven pounds too heavy to make holiday hams, Bloomberg reports.

The cost of spiral cut ham in supermarkets is $3.43 - up 26 percent from last year.

The result, pork producers say, is that farmers keep their hogs longer and raise them fatter in an attempt to recoup some of the losses from the millions of piglets that died from this year's deadly porcine epidemic diarrhea.

Hotel guests ‘fined’ for leaving bad review on TripAdvisor

Couple find extra £100 charged to their credit card after they posted negative comments about Blackpool's Broadway Hotel

A couple have been "fined" £100 by a Blackpool hotel they described as a "rotten stinking hovel" on travel review website TripAdvisor.

Tony and Jan Jenkinson posted the negative comments after being unimpressed with the one night they spent at the Broadway Hotel.

The couple, from Whitehaven, later found £100 charged to their credit card. The hotel said its policy was to charge for "bad" reviews.

Trading Standards from Cumbria County Council are investigating. Officials believe the hotel may have breached unfair trading practice regulations.

When the couple queried the surcharge, the hotel’s manager said they had a ‘no bad review policy’ in their terms and conditions.

How Eisenhower solved illegal border crossings from Mexico

WASHINGTON — George W. Bush isn't the first Republican president to face a full-blown immigration crisis on the US-Mexican border.

Fifty-three years ago, when newly elected Dwight Eisenhower moved into the White House, America's southern frontier was as porous as a spaghetti sieve. As many as 3 million illegal migrants had walked and waded northward over a period of several years for jobs in California, Arizona, Texas, and points beyond.

President Eisenhower cut off this illegal traffic. He did it quickly and decisively with only 1,075 United States Border Patrol agents – less than one-tenth of today's force. The operation is still highly praised among veterans of the Border Patrol.

Uber Executive Suggests Digging Up Dirt On Journalists

Senior vice president Emil Michael floated making critics’ personal lives fair game.

A senior executive at Uber suggested that the company should consider hiring a team of opposition researchers to dig up dirt on its critics in the media — and specifically to spread details of the personal life of a female journalist who has criticized the company.

The executive, Emil Michael, made the comments in a conversation he later said he believed was off the record. In a statement through Uber Monday evening, he said he regretted them and that they didn’t reflect his or the company’s views.

His remarks came as Uber seeks to improve its relationship with the media and the image of its management team, who have been cast as insensitive and hyper-aggressive even as the company’s business and cultural reach have boomed.

Michael, who has been at Uber for more than a year as its senior vice president of business, floated the idea at a dinner Friday at Manhattan’s Waverly Inn attended by an influential New York crowd including actor Ed Norton and publisher Arianna Huffington. The dinner was hosted by Ian Osborne, a former adviser to British Prime Minister David Cameron and consultant to the company.

Under Obama, U.S. personal freedom ranking slips below France

Americans' assessments of their personal freedom have significantly declined under President Obama, according to a new study from the Legatum Institute in London, and the United States now ranks below 20 other countries on this measure.

The research shows that citizens of countries including France, Uruguay, and Costa Rica now feel that they enjoy more personal freedom than Americans.

As the Washington Examiner reported this morning, representatives of the Legatum Institute are in the U.S. this week to promote the sixth edition of their Prosperity Index. The index aims to measure aspects of prosperity that typical gross domestic product measurements don’t include, such as entrepreneurship and opportunity, education, and social capital.

Health Insurance Costs Have Nowhere to Go but Up

Its open-enrollment time for employers and their employees, the time when employees must choose a health insurance plan or confirm they'll remain on their current coverage for 2015. This is also the time when folks are eligible to purchase an individual health insurance plan on HealthCare.gov or one of the various state-based exchanges. For those plans, you have until Dec. 15 to purchase your 2015 health insurance.

Regardless of where you get your health insurance, one thing is for sure: Your premiums for 2015 and the next several years are set to rise significantly.

Folks are used to the fact that health insurance costs always seem to go up. They've done so for the last 14 years, with the highest annual increase of about 14 percent and the lowest at about 3 percent. But the increases for 2015 are staggering, ranging from 20 percent to over 60 percent.

And consumers need to plan for more rate hikes over the next several years, especially those who have coverage through their employer. One of the biggest causes behind these increases is theAffordable Care Act (ACA), so called because it was supposed to provide more affordable health insurance for all.

According to a brief from the American Academy of Actuaries, several factors appear to be pushing health insurance premium up in 2015 and in future years. They include:

Risk pool composition: The ACA prohibits insurers from charging different premiums to individuals based on their health status. So, when more people with higher claims (older, sicker, etc.) enroll in new health insurance plans and don't get offset with a sufficient increase in those with fewer claims (younger, healthier, etc.), insurers project more claims and subsequently raise premiums.

JEEP INVASION MEET TOMORROW

The Religion of Mass Murder

Although I purchased this book soon after it was published, other commitments compelled me to add it to my mountainous stack of books “to be read.” Since this year is the one hundredth anniversary of World War I, and I have already reviewed two books on World War I (Jack Beatty’s The Lost History of 1914and Philip Jenkins’ The Great and Holy War), I figured that if I was ever going to read What the World Should Be, I might as well read it this year.

George W. Bush was not the first president to have a “faith-based” foreign policy. Most people know that Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924) was the U.S. president from 1913 to 1921. Some perhaps know that he was the governor of New Jersey from 1911 to 1913. But few probably know that he was the son of a Presbyterian minister, president of Princeton University—then a Presbyterian institution that had always been headed by clergymen until Wilson—from 1902 to 1910, and had a faith-based policy of his own.

But like the faith-based foreign policy of Bush, Wilson’s was shaped by a defective faith.

Malcolm Magee is the director of The Institute for the Study of Christianity and Culture, “an academic research organization,” not “affiliated with any church or religious organization,” that “examines the intersection of religion, and particularly the Christian faith, and its surrounding culture.”

Doctor Shortage Looming? Maybe Not

The United States is facing a critical shortage of doctors that could seriously jeopardize the ability of a patient to get medical care in the coming years.

Or, at least, that's the message the medical community has been pushing for several years now. And the media (including this reporter) have swallowed the line without much question.

But is the shortage real? Not necessarily, say a growing number of health economists and analysts.

The most widely publicized prediction of a looming crisis comes from the Association of American Medical Colleges , which has said that by 2025, the U.S. will be short roughly 130,000 doctors.

It's not hard to see how the group makes that calculation. Millions of people are getting health insurance for the first time under the federal Affordable Care Act. At the same time, 10,000 baby boomers are qualifying for Medicare every day, says Dr. Atul Grover, chief public policy officer of the AAMC.

One Reason Why Sickcare Is Outrageously Expensive: Needless Scans/Tests

Add easy profits from needless tests to defensive medicine and no cost controls or real competition, and we have the perfect formula for waste, fraud, profiteering, bad medicine and dysfunctional, unaffordable healthcare.

Why is sickcare (a.k.a. "healthcare") absurdly unaffordable in America? There are many structural reasons which I have covered in depth for years, but one that most of us can relate to from personal experience is needless, hyper-costly scans and tests.

Even those of us who have never had a CT or MRI scan (and I hope I never will) know the drill from friends and family: practically every injury is now scanned by one device or another at enormous expense--not for treatment, as M.D. Ishabaka explains, but as defensive medicine to ward off future lawsuits or in response to patient demands.

Ishabaka (M.D.) walks us through the maze of CT and MRI by using his own injuries and treatments as examples of how our system has become unaffordable and ineffective.

University of Virginia student details alleged gang rape by seven men during a fraternity initiation

And claims the school did nothing about it

One of University of Virginia's most illustrious fraternities is now under investigation amid reports seven members gang-raped a female student in the house two years ago.

The horrifying account was detailed in a recently-published Rolling Stone article, in which a current junior identified as 'Jackie' says she was assaulted by a group of Phi Kappa Psi brothers after accepting an invitation to a 'date night' function at the house.

The article goes on to indict the southern school for hushing up victims like Jackie, steering them towards dealing with these cases within the school, in order to protect their reputation.

The Charlottesville, Virginia school was also attended by Hannah Graham, the 18-year-old student who was kidnapped on campus last September and found murdered weeks later.

While Jackie decided not to press charges when the incident first happened, she has now decided to go public with her story after hearing from two other women who were gang raped at the fraternity, which counts President Woodrow Wilson as one of their distinguished alumni.

Officials Defend Ocean City After Another Dangerous Ranking; Report Called ‘Misleading’ And ‘Inaccurate

OCEAN CITY — Ocean City officials this week again defended the resort’s reputation as one of the most dangerous places in Maryland after a California-based real estate brokerage firm released its rather dubious semi-annual list for the state.

Movoto, known for its data-based research into trend and conditions in different areas around the country, on Tuesday released its 10 Most Dangerous Places in Maryland, and Ocean City again found itself near the top of the heap. In April, Movoto released a similar listing of the 10 most dangerous places in the state in terms of crime statistics, causing an uproar locally about the obvious flaws in the research.

Ocean City was ranked the most dangerous place in Maryland in Movoto’s spring list, but had dropped to fourth on the new list released this week. Topping the list was Elkton, followed by Baltimore, Bladensburg and Ocean City. On the Eastern Shore, Cambridge ranked fifth on Movoto’s list released on Tuesday, while Salisbury came in sixth. The rest of the Top 10 were jurisdictions on the western side of the Chesapeake Bay.
