Here's What I Want You To Picture In Your Mind

Laura Mitchell, Josh Hastings, Jim Ireton, Rick Pollitt, Wayne Strausburg, Gary Mackes and staff regularly sitting at a Downtown bar using taxpayer gift cards to pay for their drinks. Some drinks for certain individuals allegedly don't even get charged because certain people brought a limo service from the college to downtown at taxpayers expense and because of that, some people may not have to pay for drinks.

So when you go to the polls, THINK about who you want representing you any more. Now hold up your glass and give them a toast, here's to knowin ya and don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

Daily Times Bows Down To County Executive

In today's Daily Times, Pollitt writes a letter to the editor explaining his lack of finances in his campaign. Pollitt tries to say he doesn't understand how the Daily Times could get it so wrong, yet they didn't.

Pollitt says, That effort is well under way and donations are coming in nicely.

Sorry Rick, NICELY is more like what Bob Culver has brought in.

Might I suggest Mr. Pollitt go back to the articles I posted this week showing the faces of those people who can and will influence a campaign both by reputation and or finances. THAT is how you win an election.

Pollitt can cry all he wants, he knows his time is over and he's had eight years to make things at least better and he has failed miserably.

Obama: I Kissed The Ebola Nurses

President Barack Obama boasted that he kissed nurses at the Atlanta hospital where Ebola patients were being treated.

Obama made clear that he is not afraid of Ebola, saying Wednesday, ”I shook hands with, hugged, and kissed, not the doctors, but a couple of the nurses at Emory because of the valiant work that they did,” Obama said. “In treating one of the patients, they followed the protocols, they knew what they were doing, and I felt perfectly safe doing so.”

Ebola patient Amber Vinson is currently being treated at Atlanta’s Emory University Hospital, where Obama kissed the nurses. But Obama kissed the nurses weeks ago and had no chance of contracting the disease at that time.

It's Amazing What New Sharp Blades Can Do To A Sign

While republican signs are disappearing in massive numbers, a viewer sent me this image and wanted me to know, TWO can play that game.

Man Charged With Impersonating Police Officer

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County Police have arrested a man they say displayed a badge and handcuffs and told people in a Glen Burnie store that he was looking for a missing girl.

Police were called to the Family Dollar Store on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard about 3:40 p.m. Wednesday. Officers say two women reported that the man had approached them and made rude comments. Other witnesses said the man smelled of alcohol, showed them a badge and said he was looking for a missing girl.

While officers were interviewing witnesses, a man whom the witnesses said had accosted them drove by.

Police stopped the car and arrested 59-year-old Larry Jones of Pasadena and charged him with impersonating a police officer and drunken driving offenses.

Brennan: Florida State gives way to 'Jameis State'

The embarrassment continues unabated at Florida State, a school that has put the need to win football games above all else, including an alleged rape, a Title IX violation and, pending an investigation, an NCAA rule that some schools still actually follow.

The amazingly still-eligible Jameis Winston is preparing for the big Notre Dame game Saturday as if all of that — as well as stealing crab legs from a Publix and soda from a Burger King, firing a BB gun at his apartment complex and making a spectacle of himself yelling a vulgar phrase while standing on a table in the student union — never happened.

AFRICA STEMS EBOLA VIA BORDER CLOSINGS, LUCK

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) -- Health officials battling the Ebola outbreak that has killed more than 4,500 people in West Africa have managed to limit its spread on the continent to five countries - and two of them appear to have snuffed out the disease.

The developments constitute a modest success in an otherwise bleak situation.

Officials credit tighter border controls, good patient-tracking and other medical practices, and just plain luck with keeping Ebola confined mostly to Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea since the outbreak was first identified nearly seven months ago.

Senegal did so well in finding and isolating a man with Ebola who had slipped across the border from Guinea in August that the World Health Organization on Friday will declare the end of the disease in Senegal if no new cases surface.

Lt. Gov. Brown Doubles Down on Costly Purple Line

Costs to Maryland Taxpayers soars by half a million dollars every single day.

ANNAPOLIS, MD –
Today, the increasingly invisible Lt. Governor missed a press conference with more popular local leaders who doubled down on his plans to spend $2.4 billion on a transportation project that has increased over 100% in costs before construction has even begun.

“The O’Malley-Brown economy has failed Maryland’s struggling families. Over 200,000 Marylanders remain out of work, we have over 8,600 fewer businesses, and Maryland’s economy had zero growth last year. Further, this administration raised spending by $10 billion, more than 46 other states,” Hogan charged. “We simply cannot afford this project right now."

"The Purple Line's projected cost has already more than doubled, and continues to rise dramatically. According to the Federal Transit Administration, the project continues to grow by about a half a million dollars every day. The cost to individual taxpayers comes to about $850 for every income tax return filed by Maryland residents – a hit that many simply cannot afford to take after 40 consecutive that hit working- and middle-class families the hardest," said Hogan.

Over 48M Americans Live in Poverty

Over 48 million Americans live in poverty, according to a special report by the Census Bureau Thursday. It provides an alternative look at the worst off people in the nation than the official numbers that come out in September.

Government programs such as food stamps do help some people, especially children, but even so 16% of American children are living in poverty, according to the supplemental report.

Lawsuit: Congress lied on Obamacare applications

Exchange now urged to dump House, Senate members

A lawsuit has been filed in Washington demanding a taxpayer-funded Obamacare health exchange dump members of Congress, their staffers and their spouses and dependents from the program.

The action was brought Wednesday by Judicial Watch, a government watchdog group, because the subsidized District of Columbia Health Benefit Exchange Authority is designated for small businesses with 50 employees or fewer.

The complaint, noting Congress employs thousands, charges government officials evaded the restriction by lying on the applications.

The lawsuit cites applications filed with the exchange by the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.

Copies of the applications were obtained by Judicial Watch through a Freedom of Information Act request. They show the House and Senate claimed to have only 45 employees each.

Experimental Ebola Vaccine Administered To Some In D.C.

WASHINGTON -- Some people in the Washington, D.C. area may now be resistant to Ebola, if an experimental vaccine can live up to some very high expectations.

Since a clinical trial began Monday, seven people have been vaccinated, and the hope is to vaccinate six more on Thursday, according to Dr. Shon Remich, director of Translational Medicine at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Silver Spring.

If no serious side effects are witnessed, others will be given stronger doses of the vaccine. The plan is for a total of 39 people to be vaccinated and studied over the coming seven to eight months.

911 emergency dispatchers instructed not to say 'Ebola' over radio

NEW YORK - 911 emergency dispatchers in New York have been instructed not to use the work 'Ebola' over the radio.

According to the New York Post, officials made the decision in an effort to minimize fear and panic since the radio channels are often monitored by civilians and the media.

The Post reports that dispatchers have been instructed to use the code ‘F/T' when discussing callers that have a fever and have a history of travel to West Africa.

Video shows moment a pregnant woman was forced out of her car and on to the ground at gunpoint while in LABOR - all because she was speeding to the hospital

A pregnant woman in Iowa had a particularly difficult labor this week when she was held at gunpoint on her way to the hospital.

Rachel Kohnen and her husband Ben were going 30 miles over the speed limit on Tuesday morning in Fort Dodge, Iowa, as Rachel was in labor and felt that if the two did not get to the hospital soon she was going to give birth in a car.

Around that time, a police officer turned on his sirens to pull the couple over, but they kept going, ultimately being stopped when dispatched officers threw down tire spikes, blowing out the couple's tires.

And now, in just released video from the dashboard camera of one of the officers, Rachel can be seen struggling to get down on the ground as multiple officers surround her with their guns drawn, this before being led off to the hospital in a squad car where she gave birth soon after.

For Bank Of America, Crime Is Now An Ordinary Course Of Business

Once upon a time banks made money in one of two ways: either by borrowing short and lending long, a/k/a the conventional banking way, or through investment banking, which includes advisory, underwriting and trading with the backstop of billions in deposits, aka the proto-hedge fund way.

Then things changed.

For a profoundly philosophical, if comically metaphysical essay, that uses several thousand excess words and footnotes to come to the miraculous conclusion that bank accounting is, get this, fickle, the following Bloomberg take  should be an amusing way to kill a few extra hours. Philosophical ramblings aside, it is, of course, very easy to determine if a bank made or lost money, and that does not even involve looking at the cash flow statement. One looks at the Non-GAAP bottom line and excludes the "excluded", or added back items.

As a reminder, the reason non-GAAP exists in the first place, is to goalseek an already meaningless number to just a cent or two above Wall Street consensus, so as to kickstart the buying of the stock by headline scanning algos. Because EPS may be meaningless but stock-tied compensation/incentive awards are quite meaningful, and lucrative, to executives.

Hunter Biden Kicked Out Of The Navy For Failing Cocaine Test

WASHINGTON—Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter was discharged from the Navy Reserve this year after testing positive for cocaine, according to people familiar with the matter.

Hunter Biden, a lawyer by training who is now a managing partner at an investment company, had been commissioned as an ensign in the Navy Reserve, a part-time position. But after failing a drug test last year, his brief military career ended.

Biden, 44 years old, decided to pursue military service relatively late, beginning the direct-commission process to become a public-affairs officer in the Navy Reserve in 2012. Because of his age—43 when he was to be commissioned—he needed a waiver to join the Navy. He received a second Navy waiver because of a drug-related incident when he was a young man, according to people familiar with the matter. Military officials say such drug waivers aren’t uncommon.

As US Politicians Consider Travel Bans, Istanbul Quarantines Hospital Of Suspected Ebola Patient

Istanbul's Marmar University Training and Research Hospital is not accepting new patients after, as Daily Sabah reports, a person suspected of being infected with Ebola has been quarantined. The patient, who arrived by plane from Ivory Coast, is suffering high fever and nausea. While Lagos, Nigeria was CDC Director Frieden's worst nightmare with regard Ebola contagion, we suspect Istanbul is a close second with over 14 million people living there. This news comes as US politicians begin to call for visa restrictions and travel bans from infected nations.
