Former Fed Governor, Hedge Fund Billionaire Slam Fed: "Government Fiat Does Not Create Wealth"

"Balance-sheet wealth is sustainable only when it comes from earned success, not government fiat," is the ugly truth that former Fed governor Kevin Warsh (amazing what truths come out after their terms are up) and hedge fund billionaire Stan Druckenmiller deliver in the following WSJ Op-Ed. The aggregate wealth of U.S. households, including stocks and real-estate holdings, just hit a new high of $81.8 trillion. No wonder most on Wall Street applaud the Fed's unrelenting balance-sheet recovery strategy. The Fed's extraordinary tools are far more potent in goosing balance-sheet wealth than spurring real income growth. Corporate chieftains rationally choose financial engineering - debt-financed share buybacks, for example - over capital investment in property, plants and equipment. The country needs an exit from the 2% growth trap. There are no short-cuts through Fed-engineered balance-sheet wealth creation. The sooner and more predictably the Fed exits its extraordinary monetary accommodation, the sooner businesses can get back to business and labor can get back to work.

Teenager builds browser plugin to show you where politicians get their funding

I just downloaded the GREENHOUSE app for Chrome and it is great. Talk about easy access to highly illuminating data. Well done! I’d encourage everyone to take a look at the app. It is very light and couldn’t be easier to use.

As the creator Nick Rubin says, – Some are Red. Some are Blue. All are GREEN. That couldn’t be more true.

Sudanese mother Meriam Ibrahim RE-ARRESTED hours after being freed

The woman who was put on death row in Sudan for marrying a Christian then freed after nine months in jail has been rearrested on Tuesday.

Meriam Ibrahim and her husband Daniel Wani were both held at an airport in the capital Khartoum as they apparently tried to flee the country.

Meriam, 27, a doctor, had only been released from prison yesterday - and going back to jail will cause her unimaginable agony.

Daniel’s arrest also creates a headache for the US government as he is an American citizen who lives in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Little Girl Writes Dad's Employer, Gets Surprise

A Reddit post went viral over the weekend after a little girl wrote a note to get her dad a day off of work for his birthday; and the dad's employer, Google, wrote her back.

The letter—written in blue crayon no less—begins "Dear Google Worker…"

It continues: "Can you please make sure when daddy goes to work, he gets one day off. Like he can get a day off on Wednesday. Because daddy ONLY gets a day off on Saturday."

Just Who Is The Wizard Of Oz In Maryland?

There IS someone behind a certain curtain but who might that person be?

I'll start with this. Do you know what country is the #1 producer of heroin is in the world? That would be Afghanistan. Hmmmmm, let's think about that for a minute.

While Americans are simply way too busy these days to look into stats, here on a local level there isn't a single Police Officer or a single States Attorney who would deny that heroin from Delaware to the Eastern Shore of Virginia who would deny that heroine availability or use is up by 600%, OR MORE.

Here we are fighting wars around the world and the one place that provides all this heroin happens to be the very place we've been occupying for the past 14 years, hmmmmm! Who's behind that curtain?

If Americans had more time they'd start to challenge just how all this heroin is mysteriously arriving to America, just how addicting it is, how certain crime is up a good 400%, yet no one wants to talk or think about it.

I have spoken to several law enforcement officers who are now being challenged by Eastern Shore States Attorneys on CHARGES these officers have filed against certain drug dealers and the States Attorneys are actually siding with the drug dealers.

I have followed some cases against individuals who have little to no record of criminal history yet they're getting massive sentences. Drug dealers, (even some on probation) who do have a criminal history are getting off with far lower sentences.

You have to wonder just what the heck is going on around here any more. States Attorneys telling Police Officers that they know certain Judges won't accept the charges because of words like "will" or "shall".

Let's go back to when a young adult finally makes the decision to become a Police Officer, to serve and protect. They choose to go into that profession because they want to make a safer and better community. They go through the Police Academy and they learn the LAW. When they come out they very quickly learn that what they were taught in the Academy isn't exactly how things are done here on the streets, it's a fact.

Then they go out and make good arrests and one after the other, the charges are dropped. In the end it flat out discourages these Police Officers. They didn't join the force to run RADAR and catch speeders.

Now, here's the important part of my point of view. I have always said that people like Mike Lewis and Barbara Duncan do NOT want to lower crime, it's BAD for business. You may not like me saying such a thing but it is how I honestly feel. If crime was in fact lowered, if there were multiple DRUG STINGS each year, crime would go way down.

Instead we have Officers patrolling the Bypass looking for the out of town drug runners going from Florida to New York. That doesn't help us locally but it does allow a particular person to pound their chest and make it look like they took a big bite out of crime. It's complete BS on a local level. Do we really need more Officers? Or do we need to look at how these Officers are actually managed.

Doing a drug sting once every several years doesn't stop drugs. When is the last time your local media did an article on whether  crime was up or down in the COUNTY? Oh, that's right, they NEVER have. Hmmmm, I wonder who's behind that curtain?

Now don't get me wrong. The States Attorneys Office is doing a fantastic job with what they are delivered. However, their playing judge and jury BEFORE cases ever get to the judge, is in my opinion, criminal in itself.

These Officers risk their lives trying to protect us. They are taught to be PROACTIVE and go after these dealers and nowadays their arrests are thrown out because certain people believe a local Judge will say the "will" or "shall" changes their view of the case.

Police Officers are losing INTEREST in what they do. They are being forced to become discouraged. Why arrest that dealer if he's just going to walk. Instead they should pull people over for not wearing a seat belt. Yeah, that's why they went to school and then the Academy to become a Police Officer.

More importantly, WHO IS THE WIZARD BEHIND THE CURTAIN? Someone is setting these rules and I, (for one) would love to know at what level it comes from. I don't want to speak for you but I would think ALL of us would like to see these drug dealers off the streets. Instead, all we get is, crime is up and we need more Officers. Well, NOW YOU KNOW WHY CRIME IS UP. Now you know that our leaders are not doing their job. IF they had competition they would be out of business almost immediately. How convenient that there is not only no competition but that your local Media refuses to tell you the TRUTH about the actual crime rate over the past 8 years.

Ireton tells the public that crime is down 40%, or whatever he says. It's a load of crap Ladies & Gentlemen. If you had three murders last year and it dropped to one, yes, crime is down. However, when you had 400 burglaries and thefts last year and you are now up to 4,000, is crime really down? Those are NOT actual figures but the percentages aren't far off.

Heroin is a HUGE problem and not only do we desperately need the distribution to END, we MUST protect our children from these dealers giving them free hits to get them addicted.

Our complete system is failing us and we need to know who the WIZARD is behind the CURTAIN!

Rand Paul: Iraq War Created 'Chaotic Vacuum' That Boosted Terrorism

Sen. Rand Paul says he believes terrorism is worse in some ways because of America's involvement in Iraq, creating a "chaotic vacuum."

The Middle East is less stable today because of the Iraq war, the Kentucky Republican said Thursday on Fox News Channel's "Hannity."

The Sunnis in Iraq and Shiites in Iran were at "something of a standoff," before American intervention a decade ago, Paul said, and now Iran is emboldened to move into the fray.

The terror group Islamic State in Iraq and Syria has captured multiple towns in northern Iraq in recent days and vows to build a caliphate from which to launch its terrorist activities.

Iran opposes the group, but new American intervention could end up putting the enemies on the same side.

"I would in no way shape or form put American troops into that mess because I don't want American troops fighting alongside Iranian troops," Paul said.

O'Malley tests 2016 waters with inspirational speech

If Hillary Clinton doesn't run, another Democrat is in the bullpen mapping out a strategy for Iowa, the place where presidential hopefuls toiling in the minors can move up to the big league.

Polling shows Clinton is the Democratic front-runner in the 2016 race, but she said Friday she won't make up her mind until her first grandchild is born this fall and she can "figure out how that feels." So far this presidential election cycle, she has avoided the implied desire for the Oval Office that an Iowa trip brings about.

Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley is pointedly not avoiding Iowa.

"Any campaign still comes down to one individual meeting with and talking to another individual," he told about 45 Democratic activists at a pre-door-knocking rally at a Beaverdale bar Saturday morning, "because the most powerful beliefs we share are those beliefs that come alive in the context of relationships with one another."

New Illinois law banning police ticket quotas prompts similar bill in New Jersey

Days after Illinois’ governor signed into law a bill banning police ticket quotas, a similar move was afoot in New Jersey to halt turning police officers into “revenue-generating machines.”

The bill in Illinois prohibits municipalities and police department from assigning ticket quotas and evaluating officers based on the number of tickets they issue.

The new law, signed Sunday by Gov. Pat Quinn, a Democrat, also stops agencies from comparing officers based on their ticket-writing numbers, the Chicago Tribune said.

“Law enforcement officers should have discretion on when and where to issue traffic citations and not be force to ticket motorists to satisfy a quota system,” Quinn said in a statement. “This new law will improve safety and working conditions for police officers and prevent motorists from facing unnecessary anxiety when they encounter a police vehicle.”

Fixing our dictatorial EPA

Last year, Congress enacted 72 new laws and federal agencies promulgated 3,659 new rules, imposing $1.86 trillion in annual regulatory compliance costs on American businesses and families. It’s hardly surprising that America’s economy shrank by 1% the first quarter of 2014, our labor participation rate is a miserable 63% and real unemployment stands at 12-23% (and even worse for blacks and Hispanics).

It’s no wonder a recent Gallup poll found that 56% of respondents said the economy, unemployment and dissatisfaction with government are the most serious problems facing our nation – whereas only 3% said it is environmental issues, with climate change only a small segment of that.

So naturally, the Environmental Protection Agency issued another round of draconian restrictions on coal-fired power plants, once again targeting carbon dioxide emissions. EPA rules now effectively prevent the construction of new plants and require the closure of hundreds of older facilities. By 2030 the regulations will cost 224,000 jobs, force US consumers to pay $289 billion more for electricity, and lower disposable incomes for American households by $586 billion, the US Chamber of Commerce calculates.

No Upsets Expected In Md. Congressional Primaries

Maryland's eight members of Congress are expected to ward off lesser-known challengers following a sleepy primary season for the candidates in the heavily Democratic state.

Seven of the state's representatives are Democrats, and none of their seats is considered likely to change hands in Tuesday's primary. The state's two Senate seats are also held by Democrats, but neither is up for election this year. Democrats outnumber Republicans 2-to-1 in Maryland.

Republicans are only targeting one incumbent in November's general election, Rep. John Delaney of the 6th District. Delaney easily defeated longtime Republican Rep. Roscoe Bartlett in 2012 after the western Maryland district was redrawn to include portions of heavily Democratic Montgomery County in the Washington suburbs.

American Jihad Explained In Two Pictures

Rand Paul: 'The Enemy Is Too Often Us'

A candidate really can't lose campaigning against Congress—even if he so happens to work there.

According to Gallup, just 7 percent of Americans say they have either "a great deal" or "quite a lot" of confidence in Congress, a historic low recorded by the polling firm. So it makes sense for Sen. Rand Paul to criticize his colleagues in the run-up to a likely run for the White House. "I can tell you without exaggeration that I've met the enemy, and the enemy is too often us," he said in a Friday speech at the Faith & Freedom Coalition's "Road to the Majority" conference, which attracts Christian-values voters to Washington.

Many of the speakers at the event spoke in populist terms—Rick Santorum called for a turn to "blue-collar conservatism," Michele Bachmann anchored her fiery speech in Obama's low poll numbers. But Paul's anger was focused mainly on Congress. Here are some of his key lines:

Congress is responsible for "the bipartisan destruction of our currency," he said.

Bankster Says Only Gun to Head Will Oblige TARP Repayment

Banks that received billions during the Federal Reserve created implosion of the subprime real estate market say they are not obliged to make good on repaying the money.

From The Wall Street Journal:

Maryland Financial Bank, one of six banks included in the government’s auction this week of stakes it received as part of its crisis-era bailout program, enjoys an unusual luxury: It doesn’t have to make good on the money it still owes taxpayers.

The Journal reports when the TARP program “was hastily assembled in the frantic days of 2008, the government was interested in making sure the capital was widely available to banks of all sizes” and banks that issued noncumulative shares as repayment figured out how to delay and ultimately stiff tax payers.

The Towson, Md., bank, which received $1.7 million in the Troubled Asset Relief Program in 2009, is a beneficiary of a quirk that placed stricter rules on some recipients of financial aid than on others.

Specifically, some of the banks that received TARP money aren’t obligated to make good on dividend payments they have missed. That leaves the banks with a dilemma of either fulfilling their obligations to taxpayers at the expense of their own balance sheets, or keeping the money for themselves. Banks can protect themselves and their shareholders by skipping the payments. Shelling out optional payments to the U.S. government could even be interpreted as a breach of duty to shareholders.

Maryland Financial’s CEO, Robert Chafey, said only physical violence will force him to make good.

“We don’t have a gun to our head to pay this dividend, so why would we pay?” Mr. Chafey said in a February interview, according to the Journal.

Harry Reid's Polls Show Senate Democrats in Trouble

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid issued an urgent appeal for campaign contributions Friday, citing polls that show several Democratic candidates — including three incumbent senators — in extremely tight races.

"Polling is close in 11 states, and only six seats protect us from Republican control over everything from the future of healthcare reform to the next Supreme Court nomination," Reid states in a mailing on Friday.

"The Koch Brothers and Karl Rove are pouring a mountain of cash into taking over the Senate."

Report: Story Of Girl, 3, Being Ejected From KFC A Hoax

WASHINGTON -- It was an outrageous story when it broke: A three-year-old with facial scars was told, along with her grandmother, to leave a KFC in Jackson, Mississippi, because her appearance was scaring the other customers.

The story inspired indignation, and it inspired people across the country to give more than $135,000 in cash, gifts and free surgery for Victoria Wilcher, including $30,000 from KFC itself.

Now a Jackson newspaper says it was all made up.

The Clarion-Ledger, citing the Laurel Leader-Call, reports that the story was created "out of whole cloth."

Front Groups for the US Government?

The panic that engulfed this capital after the fall of Mosul, when it appeared that the Islamist fanatics of ISIS would overrun Baghdad, has passed.

And the second thoughts have begun.

“U.S. Sees Risk in Iraqi Airstrikes,” ran the June 19 headline in the Washington Post, “Military Warns of Dangerous Complications.”

This is welcome news. For if it is an unwritten rule of republics not to commit to war unless the nation is united, America has never been less prepared for a Mideast war.

Our commander in chief is a reluctant warrior who wants his legacy to be ending our two longest wars. And just as Obama does not want to go back into Iraq, neither does the U.S. military.

The American people want no new war, and Congress does not want to be forced to vote on such a war.
