Judge Won't Block New Gun Laws In Md.

A federal judge has refused to block implementation of Maryland's new gun control law.

U.S District Judge Catherine Blake in Baltimore on Tuesday said plaintiffs in two lawsuits failed to show that implementation would cause irreparable harm to prospective gun buyers and gun shops.

Blake refused to grant an emergency stay of the law. The plaintiffs' attorneys say they would continue to seek a court order to block the measures.

BORDER PATROL UNION VP SAYS FEDS 'COOKING BOOKS' ON ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

Shawn Moran, the Vice President of the National Border Patrol Council, recently spoke out on behalf of U.S. Border Patrol agents who routinely risk their lives to keep our nation safe and our borders as secure as possible to Breitbart News.

"The politically-appointed class within the U.S. Border Patrol and in the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency are cooking the books to make it appear that illegal immigration is decreasing,” Moran claimed.

“This all started when Janet Napolitano said the border was safer than it’s ever been. People were told to get in line, and they’ve done a number of tricks to limit our effectiveness and our ability to accurately determine how many people are illegally entering the US, so that the numbers look ‘right,’” he said.

Man Barks At Police Dog…and Guess How Much Prison Time He’s Facing

There’s a saying in journalism that when a dog bites a man, it’s not news, but when a man bites a dog, it’s news.

So when a man barks at a police dog — and gets charged with “inciting chaos” — and the police dog’s name is actually “Chaos”…you get the idea.

James Paul Andrews, 26, of Cranberry Township, Pa., was allegedly “barking, hissing and growling” at Chaos after he was stopped at a drunk-driving checkpoint around 2:40 a.m. Sept. 15, the dog’s handler, Evan City police Sgt. Don Myers, said.

Obama Suing N.C. Over Voter-ID Law

Follows Holder decision last month to sue Texas

(WASHINGTON POST)
The Justice Department will sue North Carolina on Monday over the state’s new voting law, according to a person briefed on the department’s plans, the latest move by the Obama administration to counter a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that officials have said threatens the voting rights of minorities.

The suit, to be announced at a Washington news conference, follows the department’sdecision last month to sue Texas over that state’s new voter-identification measure. And it comes after a recent warning from Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. that the administration “will not hesitate to take appropriately aggressive action against any jurisdiction that attempts to hinder access to the franchise.”

Under the new law, North Carolina residents are required to show a photo ID at polling places. The law was signed by the state’s Republican governor last month, andcivil right groups moved quickly to challenge it. They said that the law’s requirements will make it harder to vote and that racial minorities will be disproportionately affected because they are less likely to have the forms of photo ID required by the law. In their suit, the Advancement Project and the North Carolina NAACP also argued that voter fraud is not a significant problem in the state.

U.S. TO TEACH MEXICANS TO GAME AMERICAN SYSTEM

Feds plan to spend $100,000 to help give away more money
It’s an expenditure of only $100,000 – mere pocket change in the vast labyrinth of federal spending – but the funds are for the creation of a manual to teach people how to get more money from the U.S. government.

And the recipients aren’t even citizens of the United States.

The U.S. Trade & Development Agency, an independent White House agency, is laying the foundation for the government of Mexico to infuse hundreds of billions of dollars into modernizing its roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure.

While it remains to be seen how much direct financial assistance the U.S. will provide, even the looming threat of a government shutdown has failed to curb President Obama’s plan to cut U.S. Treasury checks for the Mexican endeavor.

EEOC Sues Red Lobster for Sexual Harassment

Restaurant  Subjected Female Employees to Egregious Sexual Harassment Including Grabbing  and Groping, Federal Agency Charged
BALTIMORE -GMRI, Inc., doing business as Red Lobster,  subjected a class of female employees to pervasive sexual harassment at its  Salisbury, Md., location in violation of federal law, the U.S. Equal Employment  Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit announced today.
The EEOC  alleged that the restaurant's then culinary manager subjected Valerie Serman,  Racheal Cox and a class of similarly situated female employees to longstanding  sexual harassment including pressing his groin against them, and grabbing and  groping them.  The EEOC further alleged  that the manager made sexually offensive comments, such as frequent remarks  about the bodies of female employees and about his genitals, according to the  lawsuit.
According  to the EEOC, Red Lobster, failed to take prompt action to stop the sexual  harassment even though the offensive conduct and comments were blatant and  pervasive.  Serman also complained to her  general manager about the harassment, but he not only failed to act, but also had  a history of making vulgar and sexually charged remarks about female employees  himself, the lawsuit claimed.
Subjecting  employees to a sexually hostile work environment violates Title VII of the  Civil Rights Act of 1964.  The EEOC filed  suit (EEOC v. GMRI, Inc., d/b/a Red  Lobster, Civil Action No. 1:13-cv-02860-MJG) in U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland,  Northern  Division, after first  attempting to reach a pre-litigation settlement through its conciliation  process.  The EEOC seeks injunctive  relief prohibiting the Red Lobster from engaging in sexual harassment, as well  as compensatory and punitive damages for Serman, Cox and the class of female  employees, and other affirmative relief.
"When companies tolerate sexual harassment, everyone loses,"  said EEOC Regional Attorney Debra M. Lawrence.   "This lawsuit illustrates yet again that when employers abdicate their  responsibility to maintain a workplace free from sexual harassment, then the  EEOC will take action to protect employees from unrelenting harassment  committed and condoned by management officials."
"No employee should have to endure severe or pervasive sexual  harassment in order to earn a living," added Spencer H. Lewis, Jr., director of  EEOC's Philadelphia District Office whose jurisdiction includes Maryland.
GMRI,  Inc., d/b/a Red Lobster, is a subsidiary of Darden Restaurants, Inc.  According to its website, www.darden.com, Darden Restaurants, Inc. is  the world's largest full-service restaurant company.  Through its subsidiaries, it owns and operates  more than 2,100 restaurants and employs more than 200,000 people.
The  Philadelphia District Office of the EEOC oversees Pennsylvania, Maryland,  Delaware, West Virginia and parts of New Jersey and Ohio.
The EEOC enforces federal laws prohibiting employment  discrimination.  Further information  about the Commission is available at its website, www.eeoc.gov.

Dogs Found 10-1-13

Joe,

These 2 friendly male dogs, one beautiful husky with blue eyes and one beautiful brindle dog came down from the Civic Center to the parking lot at the Dog Park on North Park Drive this evening. Neither dog had tags and were roaming around. We brought them in to play with our dogs but we all had to leave. We didn’t know what to do with the dogs since the Humane Society was closed and the City of Salisbury only comes out for hostile situations and this clearly wasn’t the case so we left them in the Small Dog Park with food and water. We will call the Humane Society in the morning if we can’t find the owner.

We are hoping someone is out looking for them. Since we all have big dogs of our own taking them both home would have been very difficult.

UPDATE: We left them in the small dog enclosure at the dog park with a sign asking people not to let them out on the door. People with small dogs usually don’t come late.

Emasculation As Policy

It’s not so much that they want your guns. It’s your manhood they’re really after. I mean this in a generic way, mind. It applies equally to men and women. They want to take away your self-respect – which naturally follows once they’ve defrocked you of your ability to take care of yourself.

This should be obvious by now – to anyone who has watched the pathetic spectacle of disarmed (and thus, helpless) men and women being cattle-chuted out of a building with their hands over their heads in the “I surrender” pose following a mass shooting – almost invariably perpetrated in a “gun free” zone.

Or by the way Obamacare will decide for you whether you need to buy health insurance – what kind of health insurance – and how much you’ll pay for it. The way your doctor will become another government agent, making decisions for you, controlling you – and your family’s private affairs – at the behest of the government.

CNN Poll Shows Media/Obama Losing Shutdown Battle

The con is on, folks.

Although a new CNN poll shows that across-the-board everyone will be blamed and damaged should the government shut down tomorrow, that is not the spin coming today from CNN or the rest of the left-wing media. Desperate to replay the '90s, even though today's poll says differently, the media are working together to terrify the GOP into caving when what we really have is a situation wherein Obama is going to be much more damaged than a Republican Party that doesn't have much to lose.

18-Month Jail Term Handed To Summer High-Speed Chase Suspect

OCEAN CITY — An Illinois man, arrested in July on numerous criminal and traffic charges after a two-state, high-speed chase, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and resisting arrest in District Court in Ocean City Friday and was sentenced to 18 months in jail.

Brion Adam Kriss, 24, of Frankfort, Ill., appeared in District Court in Ocean City on Friday to face 30 total charges including second-degree assault, resisting arrest, causing harm or death to a law enforcement animal and carrying a concealed dangerous weapon along with 24 traffic charges stemming from the bizarre incident on July 17. The incident began with a hit-and-run accident in Rehoboth Beach, included a high-speed chase through Delaware beach towns and into Ocean City, where at least three more hit-and-run incidents occurred along Coastal Highway before the suspect crashed on Coastal Highway near 116th Street and then fled on foot.

Ocean City Police and allied law enforcement agencies then tracked Kriss into the marsh area behind the Gold Coast Mall where the suspect continued to fight with police and attempted to drown a police K-9 dog before ultimately being subdued with a Taser and taken into custody after a few hours. Kriss last Friday pleaded guilty to one count each of second-degree assault and resisting arrest and was sentenced to 18 months in jail. The remaining criminal counts and the 24 traffic counts were not prosecuted as a result of the plea agreement.

Hillary Clinton’s Next White House Run ‘Will Be Better’: Bill Clinton

Did Bill spill the beans? He tells ABC’s “This Week” that his wife, if she does run in 2016, would be a much improved candidate.

Hillary Clinton’s next presidential bid “will be better” than her last, former President Bill Clinton said Sunday, all but confirming that his wife mill make a run at the White House in 2016.

"The next one will be better. It'll be different,” Clinton said on ABC’s “This Week.” “Whether she's in it or not, they (presidential races) are all different. And the main thing you can't do, the great trick in any human endeavor, including politics, is you must learn the lessons of your mistakes and your failures without becoming a general who fights the last war, because every new encounter will be shaped by different forces.”

The not-so-surprising remarks are the clearest indication yet the former first lady and secretary of state will launch a campaign, her second attempt at first-in-command, in the 2016 presidential race.

See the Tea Party’s scathing response to Texas Congressman Pete Sessions

The fight to defund Obamacare in the House and Senate shed light on a growing divide within the GOP between the establishment and the more conservative/Tea Party movement.

One such example is Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), whose campaign has put out materials claiming he has been unfairly targeted by Freedom Works and other Tea Party groups. But local members of the Tea Party were not about to take Rep. Sessions’ claims sitting down. Instead, they penned a scathingopen letter to the Congressman outlining some of their concerns with his leadership.

Union No-Show Jobs Cost Florida Taxpayers Millions

In Florida's most populous county, union representation comes at a steep price for taxpayers.

Instead of showing up for work and doing the public-sector jobs they were hired to do, dozens of Miami-Dade County employees are showing up for their unions and representing union members against the county that employs them.

While union members are entitled to representation, having the county pay for it is an expensive practice.

Virginia Developing Database Of Residents' Identities

WASHINGTON, Virginia has created an identity database of the state’s residents for use by Virginia agencies. The database was built from using Department of Motor Vehicles records.

State officials told the Richmond Times-Dispatch that the $4.3 million system will help agencies uncover fraud and benefit to residents who want or need to do business with the state electronically.

Craig C. Markva, Department of Medical Assistance Services Spokesman, told the newspaper that this system will be helpful because when someone creates an account online, the Virginia government will be able to use this system to verify that the person is who they are claiming to be.

It was also reported to the newspaper that the first agency to use the new e-id system will be the Department of Social Services starting Tuesday, October 1, 2013.

News Laws Slated For Oct. 1 In Maryland

WASHINGTON - A long list of new laws go into effect Tuesday, Oct. 1. Here are some of the most talked about and most likely to make an impact on your daily life.

In the car

In Maryland, using a handheld device while driving is already illegal. But on Oct. 1, it will be primary offense, which means drivers can get a ticket if they are using the phone, even if they are not breaking any other traffic rules. Until Oct. 1, it is a secondary offense, meaning that a driver must first be committing another offense, such as speeding or negligent driving.
