Prices of TVs and PCs Plummet as Prices of Newspapers and Textbooks Climb
In what may be as much an ongoing sign of America’s changing culture as its changing economy, the prices of televisions and personal computers dropped significantly over the past year, while the prices of newspapers, magazines and textbooks went up.
According to new data released Wednesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average price of a television went down 17.5 percent from December 2011 to December 2012. At the same time, the average price of personal computers and their peripheral equipment went down 8.7 percent.
Purchasers of non-electronic instruments for delivering news and information faced a different marketplace, however. The average prices of newspapers and magazines climbed 6.2 percent from December 2011 to December 2012, said BLS. At the same time, the average price of a college textbook rose 7.9 percent.

POLL: ABSENTEE PARENTS, HOLLYWOOD TO BLAME FOR GUN CRIME
As a new poll conducted by NBC/Wall Street Journal reveals, 83 percent of Americans say that parents who "don't pay enough attention to what's going on in their kids lives" share "a great deal" of responsibility for shootings like those at the Aurora theater, Sandy Hook Elementary, and Tuscon, AZ.
Moreover, the same poll shows that 62 percent of Americans believe that movies and television programs that portray violence in an appealing way share a large portion of the blame as well.

140 charges ranging from Burglary 2nd, Felony Theft, Theft of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Credit Card, Conspiracy, and Criminal Mischief.
Arraigned at JP3 and committed to Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $39,000.00 secured bond.

Frankford, DE- Delaware State Police Detectives have arrested a couple in connection with numerous burglaries and thefts that occurred in Sussex County.
Earlier this month, Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit at Troop 4 began investigating a series of burglaries that were occurring in the Frankford, Dagsboro, Millsboro, Georgetown, and Laurel areas. These incidents, which began in late November, would occur during the daylight hours and in most cases, windows were shattered by objects found around the victim’s homes. In the majority of the burglaries, property taken consisted primarily of jewelry, cash, and electronic devices. In one particular burglary in December, a victim from Millsboro had a gas card stolen. Detectives were then able to link the transactions to a gas station located in Millsboro and learned through the investigation that Joseph D. Snead andNakeisha A. Thomas were the ones in possession of the card.
On January 9th, warrants were obtained on the suspects in connection with multiple counts of Identity Theft and Unlawful Use of a Credit Card. Snead was picked up at Probation and Parole that afternoon and charged with six counts of Identity Theft, six counts of Theft, and six counts of Unlawful Use of a Credit Card. He was committed to SCI in lieu of $10,000.00 secured bail. Nakeisha Thomas was arrested on January 14th for 12 counts of Identity Theft, 12 counts of Theft, and 12 counts of Unlawful Use of a Credit Card. She was remanded to WCI in default of $39,000.00 secured bail.
Through the course of the investigation and interviews, the two had also been linked to the burglaries that were committed in southern Sussex County. Additional charges were brought against the two on January 17th including multiple counts of Burglary 2nd, Theft of a Firearm, Felony Theft, Conspiracy, and Criminal Mischief. An additional bond of $143,700.00 secured bond was place on Snead. Bond on Thomas was not readily available on the additional charges. Both are still incarcerated.

California Man Pays his $14,000 Property Tax Bill in Change
Gasper lost his tree business a couple of years ago, in part, because he couldn’t pay his taxes.
Gasper said he tried to pay half of the bill a few weeks ago but the county refused to take it.
Gasper gathered all the money he could and rolled it.

True, he doesn't mention that there is in force a Volcker Rule currently ... but maybe that's because the Volcker Rule is such a weak version of Glass-Steagall that it's not worth commenting on.

Officials Lower Turnout Projection For Inauguration

The district's homeland security director, Chris Geldart, said Sunday that officials now expect between 500,000 and 700,000 people to attend. That's fewer than the 600,000 to 800,000 people initially anticipated.
The estimates are based in part on the number of charter buses arriving in the city, as well as the number of hotel and restaurant reservations.
West Point Issues Report On The "Far Right" Terrorists In America
If this article does not serve as a wakeup call for all those on the fence regarding who your loving government now considers a “terrorist” I don’t know what will. The power structure loves to use language to divide and conquer their subjects, and this report is a perfect example of that technique. These days, when the term “far right” is used in the mainstream media or in government/military reports, they are talking about those that believe in the Constitution as the supreme law of the land. A preeminent set of laws that must be followed by everyone, including the President, Congress, large corporations and the military. Meanwhile, the “moderate right” is defined as Neo-cons. You know, the torture loving, Constitution-ignoring, militaristic chicken-hawks that still hold on to the reins of power within the Republican establishment. This is supposedly the “moderate right,” while the “far right” just wants to uphold the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Of course, the power structure doesn’t want to have to deal with the Constitution any longer, so of course those that defend it are “far right” or “terrorists” in the mind of the state.
The report I am referring to was just released by the Combating Terrorism Center at the U.S. Military Academy and it is titled: “Challengers from the Sidelines: Understanding America’s Violent Far-Right.” From the Washington Times:

AMERICANS RALLY NATIONWIDE AGAINST STRICTER GUN CONTROL MEASURES
Roughly 800 people turned out in Austin, Texas, many carrying signs with messages like “An Armed Society is a Polite Society” and “The Second Amendment Comes from God.” Police in Connecticut said about 1,000 people showed up on the capitol grounds in Hartford, about 50 miles from the site of last month’s mass shooting at Newtown’s Sandy Hook Elementary School. Roughly 2,000 turned out in New York.
The event’s primary Facebook page lists more than 20,000 people as planning to attend.

There Was No GOP Entitlement-Cutting Plan
Some Republican lawmakers have been stressing that point for weeks and demanding that the president agree to “real cuts” before any deal could be struck. But what has emerged from the House GOP retreat in Williamsburg, Virginia is that Republicans did not have an entitlement-cutting proposal to present to Obama in debt-ceiling talks, had the president ever agreed to negotiate with them. The talk about big entitlement cuts, at least in connection with a debt-ceiling agreement, was mostly talk.
Now, by deciding to pass a short-term debt-limit bill, and at the same time demand that Democrats pass a budget — something Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has not allowed in nearly four years — Republicans have sidestepped the entitlement issue altogether, at least for a while. That might have been the GOP’s only option, since it had not agreed on an entitlement-cutting proposal.

Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Press Release
On January 16, 2013 members of the Worcester County Criminal Enforcement Team executed a search and seizure warrant on West Street, Berlin, Maryland. This search and seizure warrant was in reference to an ongoing Marijuana and Heroin distribution investigation. Entry to this residence was made by the Berlin Police Department SWAT Team at which time Joseph Tyler Shanahan (Age 25) was taken into custody without incident. A search of this residence revealed 987 grams of Marijuana, 99 individually wrapped bags of Heroin, and $1,510.00 United States Currency.
Joseph Shanahan was subsequently transported to the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office for processing at which time he was charged with following offenses:
1. Possession of Marijuana
2. Possession of Heroin
3. Possession with the intent to distribute Marijuana
4. Possession with the intent to distribute Heroin
5. Possession with the intent to distribute Marijuana in a school zone
6. Possession with the intent to distribute Heroin in a school zone
7. Possession of drug paraphernalia
Joseph Shanahan was subsequently committed to the Worcester County Jail on a $250,000.00 bond.

On January 9, 2013 at approximately 0912 hours a Deputy of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office arrested 34 year old Larry Murice Obrien of Berlin, MD on 3 Worcester County Circuit Court Warrants for failing to appear for court on 12/12/2012 for paternity cases. Obrien was held at the Worcester County Jail on $3000.00 bond.
On January 9, 2013 at approximately 1032 hours a Deputy of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office arrested 27 year old Rodrigo Alves Valadao of Salisbury, MD on a Fugitive Warrant through Delaware on the charges of Forgery and Bad check uttering. Valadao was held at the Worcester County Jail on no bond.
On January 10, 2013 at approximately 1029 hours a Deputy of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office arrested 28 year old Christopher George Ashley of Berlin, MD on a District Court Arrest Warrant through Worcester County on the charges of Theft less than $1,000.00 (2 counts) Conspiracy Theft less than $1000.00 (2 counts), Theft Scheme $10,000.00-100,000.00, and Forgery of private documents (2 counts). Ashley was released on personal recognizance.
On January 11, 2013 at approximately 1446 hours a Deputy of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office arrested 28 year old Rachel Katherine Oettel Of Lewes, DE on a District Court Arrest Warrant through Worcester County on the charges of Burglary 1st Degree, Theft less than $1,000.00,Theft $1,000.00-10,000.00. Oettel was held at the Worcester County Jail on $7500.00 bond.
On January 12, 2013 at approximately 0859 hours a Deputy of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office arrested 47 year old Rone Bouvier Tindley of Delmar, MD on Libertytown road in the area of Nine Pin Branch road. Tindley was charged with DUI related offenses and later released on citation.
On January 16, 2013 at approximately1405 hours a Deputy of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office arrested 27 year old David Lee Clark of Dover, DE on a District Court Bench Warrant through Worcester County for failure to appear for court on September 28, 2012 on the charges of Driving on suspended/revoked license privileges, Driving without a license, Driving while Impaired by CDS, and possession of marihuana. Clark was released on personal recognizance.

On January 16, 2013 at approximately1405 hours a Deputy of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office arrested 27 year old David Lee Clark of Dover, DE on a District Court Bench Warrant through Worcester County for failure to appear for court on September 28, 2012 on the charges of Driving on suspended/revoked license privileges, Driving without a license, Driving while Impaired by CDS, and possession of marihuana. Clark was released on personal recognizance.

A spokeswoman for the Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. in Scottsdale, Ariz., says the winning bidder has not been disclosed following Saturday's auction.
The 19-foot-long black, bubble-topped car was used in the "Batman" TV show that starred Adam West as the Caped Crusader.
