At this time I have an inside source at Shock Trauma "with the Family."
Here's the deal. His Wife Margarita and ALL five of his Children, Jose, Juan, Carlos, Ricky & David are at the Hospital and have all arrived from around the Country.
Here is their message. "Dr Alvarado is fighting very hard. Please have everyone pray very hard."
I have also spoken with Dr. Alvarado's Sister Yvette in San Antonio who is trying to make contact with the Hospital. Please, if any of you have a GOOD NUMBER for Shock Trauma, please post it here so she can make direct contact with the Family.
I can tell you there are literally more than 3,500 people right now on Salisbury News following this story and looking for updates. Keep those prayers working Folks and pray for a miracle.

By The Grace Of God, We're Being Told Dr. Alvarado May Still Be Alive
We're hanging onto hope that the most recent information we have been given is accurate. While we had two sources very high up state that Dr. Alvarado passed, we've just been contacted by another source that has stated he may still be alive.
Folks, if you knew who our original sources were you'd clearly understand why we published his passing. While I never reveal ANY of my sources you'll simply have to trust what I'm telling you.
The outpouring of grief is overwhelming. As a courtesy to his Family and loved ones I will await and announcement from the Family before we make any more statements.
We'll keep you posted.

Former Rep. William Jefferson, a Democrat who had represented parts of New Orleans, was accused of accepting more than $400,000 in bribes and seeking millions more in exchange for brokering business deals in Africa.
A federal jury convicted a former U.S. congressman Wednesday of taking bribes on 11 of 16 counts in a case in which agents found $90,000 in his freezer.
Former Rep. William Jefferson, a Democrat who had represented parts of New Orleans, was accused of accepting more than $400,000 in bribes and seeking millions more in exchange for brokering business deals in Africa.
It took jurors five days to reach a decision after an eight-week trial. Most of the trial was government testimony. The defense wrapped up its case in a matter of hours.

Rt. 50 Completely Closed Down East & West Bound UPDATE

According to the Maryland Department of Transportation both east bound and west bound lanes are currently shut down, INCLUDING the shoulders of the road. GO HERE to see more.
UPDATE:
At this time the traffic is backed up from Forest Grove Road to Rt 346. A Mercedes drifted off the side of the road and hit a tractor trailer.
What I'm about to tell you is only a RUMOR, so take it as such. We're told the driver of the Mercedes is allegedly Dr. Alvarado, a well known and well respected local Pediatrician. While the accident was extremely serious, no one has died as of yet but they do not expect the driver of the vehicle to survive.
We had been told by others that Dr. Alerado's Office was closed this evening due to an accident, so that's why we're saying it's a rumor.
LOST

UPDATE: Domestic Dispute Results In Trooper Shooting Suspect
Georgetown-Yesterday, August 4th, David Bethard was arraigned in reference to the below outlined incident and ordered held secured at the Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of a $176,500.00 cash only bond. His custody has since been transferred to the Department of Corrections.
UPDATED DSP News Release #2: Monday, August 03, 2009- Domestic Dispute Results in Trooper Shooting Suspect
Georgetown- The following news release outlines additional details surrounding the officer involved shooting from yesterday.
This incident began with a domestic dispute at approximately 1:00 p.m. at a residence along the unit block of Wood Duck Way in the Sandhill Mobile Home Park in Georgetown. Initially, a verbal argument ensued between David C. Bethard, his 38-year-old girlfriend and her 19-year-old daughter. As the argument escalated, Bethard was asked to leave the residence, but he refused.
He went into the kitchen and obtained several large kitchen knives. He then held the knives in a threatening manner and advised that everyone was going to die. The 19-year-old fled the home and called 911. The suspect then took his girlfriend from the residence against her will.
The daughter advised the State Police dispatcher center, SUSCOM, of the facts surrounding the incident at the home and also told them that Bethard was armed. This information was relayed to the responding Troopers.
When the initial confrontation with the officer ensued, the Trooper gave Bethard several lawful commands for him to surrender. The suspect put his hands in his pockets and refused to take them out.
Then, instead of coming peacefully, the suspect threatened the officer. He then lunged at the Trooper and quickly withdrew his hands from his pockets while holding a black object. This object later proved to be a cellular phone. In fear for his life, the Trooper fired a single round from his divisionally issued weapon, striking the suspect.
Charges:
In reference to the officer involved shooting, warrants are now on file charging David Bethard with Resisting Arrest and Menacing (both misdemeanors).
In reference to the domestic, warrants are now on file charging Bethard with the following offenses: two counts of Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony (felony), Kidnapping (felony), two counts of Aggravated Menacing (felony) and two counts of Terroristic Threatening (misdemeanor).
He will be formally charged upon his release from the hospital.
The officer involved in this shooting is identified as Captain Charles Simpson, the Troop 4 Commander in Charge. As a matter of routine procedure, he has been placed on Administrative Duty.

Another Direct TV Story
Hey Joe,
I too have had difficulties with Direct TV in the past. I started receiving bills in 2005 stating that I owed them $700 plus dollars for a bill. I had always had Comcast and never had Direct TV. I called them numerous times and told them this was the case and they just told me they would look in to it and never called me back. I continued getting the bills and letters and I continued calling to let them know that this was not my debt. I eventually started receiving harassing phone calls about 3 times a day from them stating I needed to pay now or they were going to turn it over to collections, their employees were very rude to me when I tried to tell them that I never had Direct TV. This continued until earlier this year when I received yet another bill and I wrote in to them stating that I had never had the service I asked them to tell me where the service was hooked up because I knew it wouldn’t be at my house. After about 3 months I received a letter from them saying that they investigated it and that the debt could not be linked back to me and that they were sorry for any inconvenience. Meanwhile they had turned the debt over to collections and I had that going against my otherwise perfect credit. I just wonder how it is possible that they can get away with charging people for debts that aren’t even theirs and then diminish their credit by turning these claims over to collection agency’s without even investigating them first especially when the person has called numerous times telling them that their must be a mistake.
Just wanted to add my experience. Thanks.

Kratovil's Townhall Meetings
"Hi Joe,
I just read your blog on Sbynews. I live in Harford County, and Frank Kratovil is our congressman, also. I plan on attending his townhall meeting in Northeast tomorrow. Thank you for letting me know what I should expect from him tomorrow.
According to his web page, his only office on this side of the bay is in Bel Air. As of the info I received from his Bel Air office last week, there is no meeting planned in this area. Since Harford County is mainly Republican, it does not suprise me.
I have put your blog on my favorites list. Thank you again.

Problems With Direct TV
I would like to hear from others about how they have been treated by Direct TV when they chose to cancel their services with them.
We had been customers of Direct TV for 9 years. Many times during those years, we had problems with service, and finally, enough was enough. Last August I called Direct TV to see about cancelling with them and they told me it would cost $300 for an early cancellation fee. We decided to wait until July of this year as the cost to cancel would only be $80.....the amount I was given on 3 different phone calls to them. I kept notes of those phone calls with dates and to whom I spoke. I was also told that the fee is reduced by $20 per month.
In July, we cancelled our service with Direct TV after being hooked up with Comcast. We immediately received a bill from Direct TV with an early cancellation fee of $180. I called to advise them that they had overcharged us by $100. They advised they would check it out and return our phone call. They did not return the phone call, but four days later, we received a statement from them showing they had charged our credit card company the total of $180 (unauthorized as far as we are concerned). Previously, we had let them apply the charges to our credit card and thus, they still have the number (scary, isn't it?). I called the credit card company and they advise that once you give them the card info, they are able to use it to collect, and unless we have it in writing from Direct TV of the amount of charges they told us, they are unable to do anything to correct the situation. They both indicate that the charges are not unauthorized because they had been given the credit card info, and even tho we had stopped paying by credit card several months ago, they tell me they are unable to remove the credit card information from their system.
I called Direct TV and spoke with a supervisor (?) who was unable to reduce the charges. He stated that the original contact signed 9 years ago allows them to make the charge upon termination, and there was nothing he could do.
Funny thing happened when I called the credit card company.......the same thing had happened to the lady I spoke with and she was also unable to have the additional charges removed from her account. A similar situation also occured with a family member who just had to pay up!!
It is hard to believe that large companies operate in this matter, and harder to believe that they are still in business. I plan to contact the Better Business Bureau and any others that I can learn about. Any info that you or any readers can provide will be greatly appreciated.
