While they only have around 20 comments on the Donna Pusey and Sheriff Bobby Jones article, man, I have to tell you, that article reads just like our Salisbury News article did two days ago. Nevertheless, just look at some of the comments the Daily Times has allowed. Again, what say you now nay sayers of Somerset County? The top one is one of the first comments, so they have allowed it to stay up there for several hours.

You people want to call me racist? I will forever ignore and reject any more comments calling me a racist. There is not one comments after that one that attacks the Daily Times for such a remark.

My guess, the Daily Times has lost so much business that they're desperate to get any attention no matter who says what. March Blog Madness is a coming Daily Times, better watch how a leader does it right. You're copying everything else we do, (including this entire story we broke 7 days ago) so why not. Oh, watch them go pull the comment now that they're getting REAL attention on it. Update On Mrs. Doris Smith Of Fruitland

This is one tough Lady!

Doris has surgery last Tuesday and then again today. Get this, she went into surgery this morning at 7:00 AM and just got out around 10:00 PM tonight.

Doctors told the Family this is the worst leg injury and pancreas case they have ever seen. Today they reattached her pancreas by stapling it to her spinal cord. They put a plate on her tail bone and after surgery she was moving her hands and toes, a very good sign.

Then they did some skin graphs today and she's scheduled to go through three more skin graph surgeries in the near future.

Keep her in your thoughts and prayers Folks because she's got a very long recovery ahead of her yet.

A Very Special & Happy Birthday To Kimmie Brown Marshall Of Fruitland

Today was a VERY special Birthday for Kimmie. Kimmie's Mother works at a very high end resort down in Florida./ Kimmie has had the stomach flu this week and has been under the weather but today something very unusual happened.

Mr. Robert Wagner was visiting the Resort today doing a new Book Signing. Kimmie's Mom told Mr. Wagner about today being her Daughters Birthday and would he be so kind as to sign a book for Kimmie as a Birthday Present.

Mr. Wagner agreed to do so and once he was finished he said, well, lets give Kimmie a call and wish her a Happy Birthday, OK? Low and behold, Kimmie got the surprise call of her lifetime and spent her Birthday glowing in happiness.

Kimmie, you're a very special young lady in which there isn't a sole who can say a single bad thing about you. We ALL appreciate what you offer to your community and I personally wish you many, many more.

Hey, who knows, maybe she'll go bragging about how she got a call today from Robert Wagner AND Joe Albero? LOL

Update On Fatal Crash Near Georgetown

Sussex County- This crash involved two vehicles. The first vehicle was a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado which was operated by Henry J. Huff, 43, of Milton. The second vehicle was a 1993 GMC pick-up truck which was operated by James K. Harrington, 54, of Georgetown.

The Silverado was southbound on Sand Hill Road just south of Huff Rd at a very slow rate of speed, getting ready to turn right into a private drive. The GMC was also southbound on Sand Hill Rd at a high rate of speed approaching the slow moving Chevrolet.

The GMC rear ended the Silverado forcing both vehicles to slide sideways off the east edge of roadway where they both overturned.

Henry J. Huff, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was killed when his vehicle overturned. His son, Joshua Huff,18, of Milton, who was a passenger in the truck, and was also not wearing his seatbelt, was not injured.

James K. Harrington, who was not wearing his seatbelt, sustained non life threatening injuries and was flown to PRMC in Salisbury where he was admitted. A passenger in Harrington’s vehicle, Daniel D. Gambrell, 42, of Millsboro, who was not wearing his seatbelt, sustained serious internal injuries and was admitted to Beebe Hospital in Lewes.

The roadway was closed for 3 hours. No charges have been filed and this crash remains under investigation.

HANCOCK MAN CHARGED IN ARSON MURDERS

(Hancock, MD) – A continuing investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, has resulted in the arrest of a Washington County man for an arson earlier this week that took the lives of two young sisters.

Clarence F. Meyers, 38, of the 200-block of Old Route 40, Hancock, Md., is charged with two counts of murder, three counts of arson, and two counts of child abuse. He is being held in the Washington County Detention Center without bail.

The victims are identified as Nicole R. Gross, 15, and her sister, Mary A. Gross, 12, both of whom lived with their mother, Melissa Lindeman, and the accused. An autopsy revealed both victims died of smoke inhalation.

The investigation began shortly before 11:00 p.m. on February 16, 2009, when fire and rescue personnel responded to the single family home for a fire. Lindeman and Meyers were able to escape from the fire, but fire investigators found the bodies of the two victims in their second floor bedroom.

Deputy state fire marshals conducted a detailed fire investigation and requested assistance from BATF electrical engineers and fire research engineers. Investigators were able to determine the fire started in the basement and that it was arson.

Further investigation by the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit led to the development of incriminating evidence against Clarence Meyers, Lindeman’s reported boyfriend. Meyers met with State Police investigators last night at the Hagerstown Barracks. Late last night, after consultation with the Washington County State’s Attorney’s Office, State Police investigators and deputy state fire marshals charged Meyers with the murders of the two sisters and the arson that caused their deaths.

Hot Off The Press In Somerset County!

This just off the press. The SCDCC is sending to the Governor the names of James "Bevel Ears" East, Sammy's neighbor and hand pick, and Cindy "Hug a Tree If It's Not On My Property" Stevens to fill Sammy Boston's seat.

Ole Jim is #1 and Cindy was #2. Nothing like picking your replacement/boss while you vacation in Florida. Jim is a "good ole boy" sure not to make waves for Sammy. Also lives in the northern end of the County with the rest of the good ole boys here in Somerset. This is the last County to be readmitted to the Union. I guess we are still awaiting permission.

Can you believe it. Educated people apply, knowledgeable business people apply, people with Somerset County at heart apply, and for what, to be beat out by retired State Trooper/Farmer/Liquor Board Member. Guess he doesn't have enough checks coming in.

Wholesale Inflation Take Biggest Jump In 6 Months

Wholesale inflation jumps by largest amount in 6 months, reflecting higher energy costs

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Inflation at the wholesale level surged unexpectedly in January, reflecting sharply higher prices for gasoline and other energy products.

The Labor Department said Thursday that wholesale prices increased by 0.8 percent last month, the biggest gain since last July and well above the 0.2 percent increase that economists had expected.

The acceleration was led by a 3.7 percent surge in energy prices with gasoline prices jumping by 15 percent, the biggest gain in 14 months.

Even outside the volatile food and energy sectors, wholesale prices showed a bigger-than-expected increase, rising by 0.4 percent. Economists had expected a slight 0.1 percent rise in so-called core inflation.

Food prices were well-behaved last month, falling for a second straight month. The 0.4 percent decline in January reflected lower costs for beef and dairy products which offset gains in the price of vegetables and chicken products.

In addition to the big jump in gasoline costs, prices for home heating oil were up by 5.4 percent and liquefied petroleum gas, which is often used to heat homes in rural areas, surged by 20.2 percent, the biggest jump in more than six years.

Outside of food and energy, there were increases for pharmaceuticals, light trucks and passenger cars and civilian aircraft.

Despite the big jump in wholesale prices in January, economists do not believe inflation is on the verge of becoming a problem, given the country's deep recession.

That downturn, which began in December 2007, has been keeping a lid on inflation pressures, which has given the Federal Reserve the room to slash a key interest rate to nearly zero without having to worry about kindling inflation.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke told an audience at the National Press Club on Wednesday that he saw little risk that the Fed's efforts to fight the recession and a severe financial crisis would trigger inflation presusres.

He said that once the economy begins to rebound and financial markets stabilize, the Fed will be able to quickly reverse the actions it has taken before inflation becomes a problem.

The story... This family has lost their home and the apartment does not allow dogs. They are looking for a home for the two Labs. Picture is attached See above.

As many of you know, we are moving in just 2 weeks Unfortunately, I have still not been able to find a good home for Cookie and Coco.

We're not able to take our beloved doggies with us and I've been desperately trying to find a home for both of them 'together'. They were raised together and pine without each other. The Lab rescue have already said that they would probably separate them, so this is my last resort.

Recently I tried to take Coco out in my car alone and she TOTALLY refused to even get into the car without Cookie.....!!!! She absolutely pulled back on her haunches until Cookie was by her side. Both doggies are in great health, have been spayed and have ID chips implanted under the skin.

Cookie turned 3 December 10th and Cookie is my mellow-yellow, and just loves her tummy rubbed. Coco is adorably funny and lives for her "ball". She also loves the water..... Cookie loves lots of attention.

Both doggies are loyal and love to walk. They have been raised with my 3 kids running around all over the place, and have survived Sammy's constant hugging and love of 'dress-up', so they are fantastic family dogs. This is by far one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make, but under the circumstances I have no choice.

Please, Please forward these pics to all you know and help me find a great home for these fabulous doggies. They are just adorable and it's heartbreaking to let them go. In a perfect world, I hope that we could find someone local so that we can still keep in touch and visit them.

I pray that someone, somewhere can help us keep Cookie and Coco together, and love them just as much as we do. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Fatal Accident Near Georgetown

Location of Incident: Sandhill Road in the area of Wilson Road which is northeast of Georgetown

Date and Time of Occurrence: Friday, February 20, 2009, at approximately 3:01 p.m.

Resume: State Troopers area currently on the scene of a fatal crash on Sandhill Road in the area of Wilson Road.

Preliminary reports indicate this was a two vehicle crash where one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Another subject is reportedly injured.

Motorist should seek alternative routes. Sandhill Road is shut down between Huff Road and Wilson Road.

The White House confirmed to WND Obama was a guest on the Univision show "Piolin por la Manana," or "Piolin in the Morning," hosted by Eddie "Piolin" Sotelo. A transcript of the interview, however, was not posted on the White House website.

"And then we've got to have comprehensive immigration reform," Obama told the radio audience, according to a transcript. "It's going to take some time to move that forward, but I'm very committed to making it happen."

FREE COUNTY PRESCRIPTION DRUG PROGRAM DEEMED A HUGE SUCCESS AFTER FIRST YEAR

Wicomico County Executive Richard M. Pollitt, Jr., and County Health Officer Lori Brewster jointly announced that, “Our free county prescription drug program is now a year old and it is an unqualified success. Last January, 80 residents took advantage of it. This past January, 333 residents participated. Program usage has been averaging 323 participants per month in the first 12 full months (February, 2008-January, 2009) of its operation. We are pleased that we have been able to provide Wicomico Countians with a service that they seem to value highly.”

The program is made available at no taxpayer cost through the National Association of Counties (NACo) and Caremark®. According to NACo, Wicomico County card users have saved
$88,907 to date on prescription drugs.

The cards may be used by all county residents, regardless of age, income, or existing health coverage, and are accepted at most of the county’s pharmacies. A national network of more than 59,000 participating retail pharmacies also honors the Wicomico County Prescription Discount Card.

“Using the NACo prescription discount card is easy,” said Officer Brewster. “Simply present it at a participating pharmacy. There is no enrollment form, no membership fee and no restrictions or limits on frequency of use. Cardholders and their family members may use the card any time their prescriptions are not covered by insurance.”

A list of card pick-up locations and participating pharmacies is available on the Wicomico County Health Department’s website at http://www.wicomicohealth.org/. County residents may also call toll free 1-877-321-2652 or visit www.caremark.com/naco for additional assistance with the program.

Update On Conner Niblett

Joe,

It is nice to see so many people praying for Conner. Now an update. Conner was in surgery for seven hours and the Doctors were able to remove the entire mass. He is on a breathing tube. After the surgery last night the hospital staff woke him up and he moved his arms, hands, legs and feet and even reached for the breathing tube. The staff then put him back to sleep.

Things look good but please everyone continue those prayers , they seem to be working. Joe, I will keep you posted and thanks again everyone.
