A Salisbury Police Officer has wrecked a Patrol Car on Rt. 13 near Survival Products and as I was driving down Rockawalkin Road this evening a young lady lost control of her vehicle and went up an embankment scaring her half to death.

Fortunately she was not hurt and I do not have any firm details as to how the Police Officer is. That being said, the roads are starting to ice up and I suggest if you don't have to drive, DON'T!

A Crybaby From The WCDC Makes A Comment & Plays The Race Card

Its ignorant ass people like you that don't understand our job as correction officer's that makes it hard for us. I commend Sgt. Dickerson for what he is doing for the detention center and the officer's working there(present and future). We are the largest correction facility on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, we housed over 600 inmates. Not only locals but also federal and INS inmates. YES Worcester County makes 10,000 dollars more than what Wicomico makes. We put our lives on the line every single day we walk thru those doors, anything could happen within seconds. You say that we don't need a raise, that we're crying well I say step into our shoes just for 1 day or even a week and I guarentee that you wouldn't even come back the next day. What makes a correction officer's job less important? When Mike Lewis became the Head of the Sheriff Department I didn't hear anyone BITCHING AND COMPLAINING about what the County gave them. When they received rows of cars and a bus. Yes maybe the county do need to get rid of Director Devenyns, Duputy Director Roberts, Major Moore and Captain Foreman. You can't run a jail from sitting behind a desk all day. WHY SHOULDN'T WE RECIEVE A DECENT RAISE IS IT BECAUSE MOST OF THE OFFICER'S WORKING THERE ARE BLACK?!!! All that we are asking for is what is right for us. How DARE A Man try and compare his wife working at a zoo to working in a jail, trust me there is NO comparison. I say to the many officer's and to Sgt.Dickerson JOB WELL DONE AND KEEP UP THE EXCELLANT WORK!!!! TO people like you LEARN OUR JOB, DO OUR JOB BEFORE YOU JUDGE OUR JOB AND TRY TO TELL US WHAT WE DO OR DON'T NEED!!!

A Younger Reader Asks A Great Question

The following message just came in from a new reader of the Blog. If only Mayor Barrie Tilghman could answer these questions? My response will be at the end.

Hi,

While looking for events in the Wicomico county area, I stumbled across your blog. As it seems as if you would probably be familiar with this area and much of what it has to offer, I thought that I would ask you a question that has been nagging me about Salisbury.

You see, I'm 19, and a student at the university. It seems that the independent community lacks much for people of my age bracket. There are a few bars, yes, but I'm not quite old enough to use them legally, and getting drunk on a weekly basis seems to be a poor substitute for cultural fare. Heck, I would even appreciate some more shopping, and I say this as a guy! Anyway, I'm always on the lookout for interesting things in this area.

Could you suggest any venues that have interesting music, perhaps small little shops that might be overlooked, anything at all that might be an interesting place to visit within about 20 minutes of Salisbury? Really, I'd appreciate even the wildest suggestion, I'm just looking for something new.

The City of Salisbury is NOT interested in YOUTH. You see, we used to have what was called the YOUTH & Civic Center but now it's really a Civic Center. Many of us have been asking the City/County to create a Skate Board Park but that's been passed/pissed over by a Dog Park instead, so far.

They give out tickets to the YOUTH riding bicycles with no bells on it and you can't even go into the Local Pool Hall if you're under 21 because they have a bar license instead of a restaurant license.

So although my answer leaves you clueless, I'm sorry. There's CoCo's but that's for children. There's the Library, Yahoo! You could hang out at the Mall and perhaps see if movie. You could join the Salisbury Kennel Club, Yahoo!

The only thing good about the City of Salisbury is the amount of money they bring in tax wise but you get nothing in return. We wonder why our young pack up and get the hell out of here? You wonder why there's so much crime in Salisbury? You wonder why there are Gangs and such a high rate of drugs in Salisbury? It's because we have a House Wife as a Mayor who had her children raised in a Boarding Home. WTF would she know about what the youth of today would want and need? Heck, even K.C. found herself in a boat load of trouble criminally because she had nothing better to do with her time.

Perhaps all the readers here could shed a little more light. There's the Zoo, Yahoo! I give up. Would anyone else like to help this young man?

Arrogance Abounds in Wicomico County Government

Don't criticize the Wicomico County Government. It doesn't matter whether you are an ordinary citizen, or a member of the County Council. This message was repeated again today, when the Wicomico County Tourism office dismissed County Councilman Joe Holloway's criticism of wasteful spending on gifts as "grandstanding".

For reasons unknown to the public, Parks and Tourism Director Gary Mackes and his crew are immune from any discipline. Back in December, 2006 Mackes publicly criticized the new Wicomico County Council for not backing a TIF bond for the old Salisbury Mall project. Last year Mackes attempted to ignore a request by the same Councilman Holloway to investigate repair, rather than replacement, of the civic center roof. Now the troops are rallying to defend the Tourism office giving Christmas gifts to elected officials.

This affair is reminiscent of Salisbury Mayor Barrie Tilghman spending $2,500 on stadium cups. People like Tourism Advisory Board members Wayne Strausburg and Michael Getzey just don't get. They are dealing with tax dollars. When the county is over $10 million behind in necessary road repairs, should the county be spending money on overpriced pens? To add insult to injury, shouldn't the pens have at least shown that they were from Wicomico County Tourism.

Holloway is correct:

"There's only one way to control how much money the government spends, and that is to control how much you give it," said Holloway, who is returning his pen. "People are amazed our money would be spent like that."

I can only hope that the Wicomico County Council spends an adequate amount of time in determining how to restrain costs in Wicomico County.

Bush Endorses Gilchrest

Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!

President George W. Bush has endorsed the candidacy of incumbent Rep. Wayne Gilchrest (R-1) in Maryland's February 12th primary. Such an endorsement is hardly unexpected given Bush's record of endorsing liberal and moderate incumbents in primary races. Past Bush endorsements have included Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA) and Sen. Lincoln Chafee (R-RI).

“I have supported President Bush in his effort to cut taxes and curb
illegal immigration, and I will continue to work with my Republican
colleagues to get back to a balanced budget. I am deeply honored to
have the continued faith and support of President Bush, and I
appreciate his help in this election,” Gilchrest said in the same news
statement.

Voters should remember that the Bush / Gilchrest efforts to "curb illegal immigration" amount to granting amnesty to over 20 million illegals presently in the US. The Bush / Gilchrest efforts to "back a balanced budget" led to the largest deficits in history while the GOP controlled both houses of Congress and the White House.

Let Me Bring To You Something The Daily Times Cannot and Will Not

Ladies & Gentlemen, the other day I brought you an article about the League of Women Voters holding a Forum at the Chesapeake College this Sunday at 2:00. Well, the Daily Times print article today only gave you the Host of the Forum, yet they didn't tell anyone where it was being held.

That being said, I am also delivering you a photo, (above) that shows the last Forum the Daily Times refused to attend, therefore I'll claim I have yet another exclusive. It was held last week at the same College and I encourage you to attend.

So why won't the Daily Times fill you in further and make it SIMPLE for you to be in the know? Because Gilchrest will have his name slammed from beginning to end, from top to bottom, inside and out and by now you get my drift.

Knowing their Boy is losing in a big way, the smart thing to do is keep you NOT informed about this loser in the hopes you won't be educated and vote for him again. That may have worked three years ago but now this Blog gets enough hits each and every day that the Daily Times has to start worrying about what they say and do as we are hurting their reputation and making them accountable, such as this particular article.

What it shows is, the date, time and even a photo of an event they refused to attend because it didn't include their boy Gilchrest. If you don't know how to get there, take Rt. 50 West and go through the traffic light at Rt. 404. Go to the very next light and make a left. You'll then make your first right at the College and follow the signs around to the back, probably 1/2 mile and you'll see the building.

Oh, and if the Daily Times would like to BUY some pictures of the last Forum, I have plenty that I haven't used.

Would Rick Pollitt Be The Arbitrator?

I happen to agree with the Wicomico County Council's veto override of the labor code to establish collective bargaining with binding arbitration for the County's Sheriff's deputies. I do not, however, agree with the persistent, and false, allegations that have been thrown at County Executive Rick Pollitt regarding his supposed role as arbitrator.

On multiple occasions DuvaFiles has made the claim that Pollitt has attempted to set himself up as "the purported independent arbitrator". Much criticism can be cast at Pollitt over this matter. I just happen to believe that if you are going to accuse someone of bad judgement, you should be truthful.

Pollitt has never attempted to put himself in the role as arbitrator. Anyone bothering to look at the legislation or who attended the public hearing would understand this. Pollitt's job is to either appoint a representative for Wicomico County, or act as that representative himself, in negotiations with the elected bargaining agent of the deputies. Everyone assumes that this agent will be F.O.P. Local #111.

An arbitrator will only be appointed if the representative of the County and the representative of the deputies cannot reach an agreement. The legislation lays out how that arbitrator would be chosen, and there is no way that Pollitt could possibly be that arbitrator.

If you wish to criticize our County Executive over this matter, then attack him with facts. Pollitt's fault in this matter lies with his (apparently successful) attempt to have his cake and eat it too. In his veto of the Council's legislation, he claims that the legislation would not fully comply with the will of the voters. That is true. However, the only way for the County Council to fully comply would be to either:

• Violate the County Charter by entering into negotiations themselves with the deputies' collective bargaining agents. ...or

• Give up their limited authority over the budget to the County Executive, which would make the Council an irrelevant institution.

This is an inherent problem of legislation by initiative. One need only to visit California to figure that one out.

If Pollitt wishes the Council to violate the Charter, and in effect surrender a portion of his power, then he should say so. If he wishes Council to make themselves irrelevant, which is most likely, he should admit to that.

The City Of Salisbury IS Reimbursed

Someone asked if the city got reimbursed for their services. This is a copy of a bill sent out that shows proof that they do in fact get reimbursed. I have seen a bill from the City of Salisbury but they live in Fruitland (outside city limits), but in Wicomico County.

Another interesting point is the address listed for the City of Salisbury on the bill: Denton, Md 21629

I'm told they can only send you a bill three times. IF you do NOT pay it the City CANNOT charge you any more and must drop the bill, period. I was in ALL of the Work Session Meetings and Council Meetings on this issue. So I would believe it's a matter of public record.

IF you have ever been harassed you should contact your Council Person and let them know.

The problem is with a broken system controlled by a monopoly known to the public as the National Association of Realtors.

I call them the Chicago real estate mob.

They lay up waiting for the little old lady with a million dollar waterfront farm who says she could go to her grave happy with $200,000.00

The the agent who knows its worth a million in a quick sale tells them they can make her happy and just write a check.

I know of a dynamic due who used to list waterfront lots in Captains Cove for $25,000 when that was overpriced and they would not sell for two years.

Then they would offer the seller $10,000 as a courtesy to help them out.

The public record would show a sale to the agent (whom had the listing) for $10,000.00 then another transfer from that same agent to another buyer for $45,000.00 THE SAME DAY!

I have seen hundreds of these right here on the Eastern Shore and guess what?

Its standard operating procedure.

These people should have called a professional real estate auctioneer to put cash on the table.

It happens every day.

This is blessed by the Chicago mob and since they spend over $30 million a year on lobbying... its perfectly legal.

Sleazy as you know what but legal.

Now this is the kind of Press Release "I" personally enjoy the most.

Deadbeat Fathers are about the biggest scumbags on earth and far too often they get away with way too much. Their excuses are never ending and the majority don't want to pay their Child Support because the Mother of the children is with someone else. They then claim she's NOT spending it ALL on the kids and they never understand or recognize there is overhead while raising those children.

Nevertheless, the WCSO Deputy was on patrol in the area of Jersey Road and Keene Ave in Salisbury when he observed a T-Bird with MD Tags failing to dim his headlamps when passing oncoming vehicles.

The Deputy stopped the car and contacted the driver, 51 year old scumbag Bernard Moore of Salisbury. A check on Moore's driver's license revealed that his privileges was suspended due to CHILD SUPPORT NON-COMPLIANCE!

The Deputy placed Moore under arrest and released him to WCDC Central Booking to be seen by a District Court Commissioner. Now THAT'S Keepin It Real! God Bless DFC Brannan!

A Worthy Comment About Salisbury Nursing & Rehab

Unfortunately, I was a resident at Salisbury Nursing & Rehab. Center for over 6 months. My experience there found that the place should be closed immediately!!

When a patient at that facility is flat on their back and unable to move and is UNABLE TO EVEN GET A DRINK OF WATER - it is in a sad state of operation for the facility. Friends and family provided me with bottled water in order for me to have a supply available when needed, although it was not cold - anything wet was delicious!

I was cursed by members of the staff because I used the call bell to ask that my urinal be emptied. The urinal was so full that it could not be used again without causing a spill (and more yelling and cursing from the staff - for messing up the bed!).

The therapy staff is very caring, but the care staff leaves a lot to be desired. The poor care that I was given, was after being forced to go there by P.R.M.C. In addition, I was fortunate to have high end BC BS insurance that was billed by Salisbury Nursing Home for over $10,850.00 PER MONTH WITHOUT GIVING ME ANY PHYSICAL THERAPY.

Hell on earth - Salisbury Nuring and Rehabilitation Center - or whatever they are called today - I am sure they will change the name to protect the hospital and those who are filling their pockets daily without doing any work.

Andy Harris Raises Over $1,000,000

Annapolis: State Senator Andy Harris today announced his campaign has raised over $1,000,000 since he entered the race in June 2007. In less than nine months, Andy Harris has broken every Republican Primary fundraising record in the district.

"This is a clear indication that my conservative message of improving the economy, ending illegal immigration and winning the global War on Terror, is resonating with people everywhere," said Andy Harris. "I am truly humbled by the depth of support I have received."

Harris' fundraising has established a strong fundraising base for the final few weeks of the campaign. He has amassed over 5500 unique donors.

"Voters want change," said Chris Meekins, Campaign Manager for the Harris campaign. "They want a return to our core conservative values and Andy Harris is the only conservative in this race."

Andy's conservative message is also being embraced by voters throughout the district. In a major upset last week, Harris won an overwhelming 67% of the vote at a 400 person straw poll in Anne Arundel County. Earlier this year, Harris won a straw poll in Wicomico County on the Eastern Shore as well.

Federal Election Commission reports show that Harris had out-raised Gilchrest over the last two reporting periods.

Accident On Riverside Dr -- Shad Point/Cherry

There was a serious accident on Riverside Drive again this morning. This time they flipped a SUV on its side with a woman and a child inside the vehicle.

The complaint is, people are driving way too fast on this road and they want something done about it sooner than later. Thank God no one was seriously injured.

Governor's Transportation Plan - Eastern Shore

Highlights of the governor's improvements include:

$18 million to dualize and widen the next phase of US 113 from Goody Hill Road to Massey Branch located south of Berlin in Worcester County;

$2.5 million in engineering funds to dualize and widen the next phase of MD 404 from MD 309 to Cemetery Road;

$4 million to build a roundabout and sidewalks along the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Access Road providing students a safer route to the Princess Anne school;

$3 million to study expanding capacity along Nanticoke Road from US 50 to Rockawalkin Road in Salisbury;

$2 million to complete project planning to improve traffic flow and safety along Race Track Road from US 50 to MD 90 near Ocean Pines;

$1.6 million for drainage improvements to reduce flooding along US 13 and local roads in Salisbury

$7.3 million to upgrade rail lines on the Eastern Shore;

$5 million to upgrade railroad grade crossings on the Eastern Shore

In addition to these local investments, the state has added $56.8 million in capital funding to buy buses and improve facilities used by locally-operated transit systems. Local transit agencies can apply for these funds as part of an annual application process administered by the Maryland Transit Administration.

Fire In Delmar Right Now

Since I don't want to be called a Fire Chaser, I chose not to go to this fire on Virginia & Pine Street in the Woodlawn Subdivision.

However, I will say that the sirens in Delmar, Hebrom and Mardela have been going off for at least 15 minutes before this Fire Truck from Hebron passed by my home. Hopefully all is well and everyone is OK. Be safe!

BREAKING NEWS! Town Of Delmar Maryland Is Being Sued By FOP Lodge 111

There's more to the Court Documents but here it is in a nutshell.

FOP Lodge 111 has Filed suit against the Town of Delmar, Maryland over Collective Bargaining. Get this! I've been informed that the State of Delaware offers Collective Bargaining for ALL Municipalities with more than 25 Employees. Now that doesn't mean 25 Police Officers. That means 25 Employees, period.

That being said, the Delmar Police Department works for both the state of Maryland and the state of Delaware. Therefore they have filed a petition with more than 320 signatures, (more then required for that Municipality) to put Collective Bargaining on the Ballot and the FOP filed it to the Town Attorney and the Mayor of Delmar.

The first set of paperwork went and sat with absolutely NO REPLY whatsoever. So, the FOP sent it AGAIN for the second time and guess what, NOTHING HAPPENED. Being that you only have a certain amount of time to get something like this on the Ballot, it became VERY obvious the Mayor was stalling and the Police Officers learned the Town Attorney was delaying at the request of the Mayor.

So the FOP filed it again for a third time in which the Mayor responded by telling them they would only consider it IF they were to do so they wanted to include the Labor Code along with it so the Voters could vote on BOTH! This would mean at least 7 pages of documents added to the Ballot and everyone immediately realized this was yet ANOTHER stall tactic on the Mayor's behalf and he pissed off the FOP bad enough that they have Filed a Lawsuit against the Town of Delmar.

Ladies & Gentlemen, you're reading it here first as NONE of the other News Sources are even ONTO this story.

There's more. The Town of Delmar has a rule in which if you don't take your vacation and or sick leave by the end of the year you lose it completely. Well, when you're a small Police Department like Delmar is, there's a sense of loyalty in such a small department and you just don't screw your Brothers and Sisters by taking off and leaving no one to work. Therefore many Officers easily lose quite a bit of earned pay because they're so small. Get this though. If you quit, you get the pay. If you leave and take a job elsewhere, you get the pay. It makes no sense. So why doesn't the Town of Delmar just flat out pay them the money instead of forcing them to lose it?

This is one reason for Collective Bargaining. Now keep in mind, the Chief of Police works at the pleasure of the Mayor & Council. Therefore, you're not going to hear a whole lot from him about this issue and or who he supports, I respect that. Once again, this is yet ANOTHER damn good reason for collective bargaining. They can't retaliate against you and make your life a living hell if you in fact stand up for the men and women serving under you.

Barrie Tilghman has made the perfect example of just how badly she'll RETALIATE against you in ANY department if you do NOT agree with HER. I'll not name names at this time but ALL of you know what I'm talking about.

I'm sure you'll be seeing and or reading more about this situation in the very near future on the local news stations and in the DT. Let's sit back and watch who gets on the ball first with this one.

I personally stand behind the FOP Lodge 111 on this one and I'm honored to expose the shenanigans of the Mayor of the Town of Delmar for stalling and turning against the will of the taxpayers of Delmar who signed the Petition to bring it to the Ballot.

WWII Vet Allegedly Treated Poorly At Local Nursing Home

I was in Salisbury recently for a funeral of a relative. While there I had time to spend with my father who as an aging WW2 vet is starting to have a lot of health problems.

After I left and I returned to my work place he suffered a fall and had to be hospitalized. For some strange reason he lost his ability to stand and walk. My step mother bless her heart has had him moved to the Genesis Nursing Home on Civic AV. Here he is to undergo physical therapy so that he can become mobile again.

Last night while talking to her she was very unhappy about the way the staff at the facility was treating him. It seems that after his therapy treatment yesterday they brought him back to his bed and just left him there with all of his cloths on including shoes. Now he is not able to remove any of these items without a lot of help.

Has our society gotten so callus and financial driven that we no longer care for our fellow man. Here is a person who went into the US service and did what he thought right, but when he needs help the health care profession does not have the compassion to do their job right.

Maybe you can shed a little light on this area. If we all are lucky maybe we can live to be so old and not need this type of care. Personally if this type of treatment continues I will most likely consult the legal community and see what can be done to help improve the situation.
