Man Spray-Painted Swastika At UMD

A 52-year-old black man is being charged with destruction of property after allegedly getting caught spray-painting a swastika inside campus living quarters, according to Fox5.

Officials for the school discovered the swastika on a trash cart inside the fifth floor of Hagerstown Hall.

One student, apparently bewildered by the news, didn’t seem to recognize the possibility of Ronald Alford Sr.’s artwork being an attempt to stage anti-Semitic sentiment at the college.

US immigration population hits record 60 million, 1-of-5 in nation

A huge boom in immigration, legal and illegal, over the past 16 years has jumped the immigrant population to over 43 million in the United States, according to a new report.

And when their U.S.-born children are added, the number grows to over 60 million, making the immigrant community nearly one-fifth of the nation's population, according to federal statistics reviewed by the Center for Immigration Studies.

Steven Camarota, the Center's director of research and co-author of the report, said, "The enormous number of immigrants already in the country coupled with the settlement of well over a million newcomers each year has a profound impact on American society, including on workers, schools, infrastructure, hospitals and the environment. The nation needs a serious debate about whether continuing this level of immigration makes sense."

ICE Deports Criminal Alien after 3-Year Manslaughter Sentence

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers deported a criminal alien following the completion of his sentence for killing a man in North Carolina.

Bonifacio Cano-Perez, 34, an illegal alien from Mexico, struck 72-year-old Kenneth Hoffman while driving a Ford work van in the parking lot of a Lowe’s Home Improvement store. The blow threw Hoffman into the air. Cano-Perez ran over him again and dragged the elderly man about 12 feet before the van came to a stop, the Statesville Record and Landmark reported in April 2016. Witnesses said the Mexican national did not stop until bystanders yelled at him. Cano-Perez had no driver’s license and has a history of vehicle crashes.

An Iredell County Superior Court judge handed down a 16 to 29-month prison sentence following the conviction on charges of involuntary manslaughter. The sentence appears to be the maximum allowed by North Carolina law at the time of the offense.

ANOTHER Obama Illegal Alien 'DREAMer' Accused of Kidnapping and Murder

Daniel De Jesus Rangel-Sherrer, 19, is another one of our society’s best and brightest according to Hillary and Obama since he’s an illegal alien ‘DREAMer’ from Mexico.

This future astronaut/lawyer/doctor is being accused of kidnapping and murdering an 18-year-old girl.

A man accused of killing a South Carolina high school student had been protected from deportation under the DACA program, U.S. officials confirmed to Fox News Thursday evening.

Daniel De Jesus Rangel-Sherrer, 19, is accused of murder, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with the death of 18-year-old Diana Martinez-Gonzalez.

Martinez-Gonzalez, a junior at Greenville High School, was found dead in a wooded area Oct. 4. Officials said she had been forced into the woods and shot multiple times in the head.

Trump Talks Welfare Crackdown: 'Some People Are Really Taking Advantage Of Our System'

During a Monday Cabinet meeting, President Donald Trump hinted at a welfare crackdown.

“Some people are really taking advantage of our system,” said Trump. “And we are going to be looking very, very strongly therefore at welfare reform.”

“People are taking advantage of the system and then other people aren’t receiving what they really need to live,” continued the president. “And we think it’s very unfair to them.”

The Republicans, who have a majority in both the House and the Senate, have yet to pass an Obamacare replacement, something they've run on for some eight years; tax reform is expected to hit Trump's desk before January 1; and legislation to seemingly legalize Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients has been tossed to Congress.

Amid Opioid Epidemic, Feds Grant West Virginia a Waiver From U.S. Law

Despite Trump's Health-Care Changes, He's Keeping Obama's Opioid Strategy

With no end to the epidemic in sight, the feds are helping some states treat more addicts.

In the last two weeks, President Trump has taken several steps to reverse parts of President Obama's signature health-care law. He weakened the Affordable Care Act's birth control mandate, signed a wide-ranging executive order that, among other things, allows for more unregulated plans, and announced the end of subsidies that help low-income consumers buy insurance.

But there's at least one area of health care where the White House is continuing its predecessor's policies: those designed to aid the opioid epidemic.

NRA Spokeswoman Forced to Move After She Received Death Threats

National Rifle Association spokeswoman Dana Loesch announced Sunday on Twitter that her family had been forced to move suddenly after she received multiple death threats from gun control advocates.

Loesch, a conservative commentator and syndicated talk radio host, followed the announcement of her family's move by condemning the way politically progressive society has treated not just her, but conservative women as a whole.

In the wake of Harvey Weinstein's sexual misconduct allegations, many women are telling their stories of assault on Twitter, using the hashtag, #MeToo. Loesch used the hashtag to tell her story of how she is being threatened for her views on guns and the Second Amendment.

Loesch said it wasn't just her who was targeted, but her family as well.

Feds granting nearly 2 million work permits to illegal immigrants in 2017

The government will dole out nearly 2 million work permits this year to immigrants who for the most part came to the country illegally or have some other tentative status, but who have been granted a foothold in the U.S. thanks to a loose immigration policy, according to statistics released last week.

Almost all of those permits are discretionary, meaning the government could deny them if officials choose.

Meanwhile, the country’s main technology guest-worker program has essentially become a pipeline for Indians to gain a foothold in the U.S. job market, according to the statistics, which show that people from India filed nearly 75 percent of all applications this year for H-1B worker petitions, the main high-skilled guest-worker program.

The statistics were released as part of President Trump’s commitment to more transparency in the immigration system, under the terms of his April “Buy American and Hire American” executive order, and are giving researchers new insights into how the legal immigration system affects the job market.

The most striking data set involves employment authorization documents, or EADs, which are the work permits the Homeland Security Department gives to asylum seekers, refugees, certain foreign students and others — including those who qualified for the Obama-era DACA deportation amnesty for so-called Dreamers — who are in the country under something other than the traditional employment-based visa system.

Iran Vows to ‘Follow N. Korea’ Nuke Pathway After Deal Decertification

Senior Iran leaders praised the North Korean regime this weekend and claimed the Islamic Republic is encouraged to follow Pyongyang's nuclear pathway following the Trump administration's decision last week to decertify Iranian compliance with the landmark nuclear agreement.

Iran's threat to become the next North Korea, which has itself played a longtime and key role in providing the Islamic Republic with nuclear technology and know-how, is likely to set the stage for increased confrontation with the United States following President Donald Trump's decision to request that Congress reconsider the nuclear agreement to make it far tougher for Iran to continue its military buildup and pursuit of nuclear equipment.

"The nuclear deal will not be renegotiated at all and we will not hold re-negotiations," the top aide was quoted as saying on Monday.

PBS Airs Anti-Pruitt Documentary Funded By Environmentalist Group Backer

A new PBS Frontline documentary that paints Environmental Protection Agency administrator Scott Pruitt as a tool for the fossil fuel industry received major funding from a group that has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to environmentalist activists like the Sierra Club.

The documentary, "War on the EPA," received major support from the Kendeda Fund, an Atlanta-based nonprofit focused on the environment and sustainability.

The documentary features interviews with numerous Obama administration backers, including Gina McCarthy, the former EPA administrator, and Betsy Southerland, a former EPA director making $250,000 who claimed earlier this year she resigned in protest because of the Trump administration's budget. Southerland was eligible for early retirement and told coworkers she was retiring because of family issues.

Southerland tells PBS that Pruitt's EPA is a "clear and present danger to public health and safety in this country."

Pentagon May Ground F-35

The F-35, once touted as the world's most promising combat jet fighter, is so plagued with massive cost-overruns and poor design that the best thing to do is scrap efforts to make more than 100 of them fully ready for combat, according to the Pentagon's new chief of the program.

Vice Adm. Mathias W. Winter said the Defense Department is considering "leaving 108" F-35s in "their current state" because the Pentagon cannot afford to spend the money to fix the planes, the National Interest reported Monday.

"In total, Congress has authorized — and the Pentagon has spent — nearly $40 billion purchasing approximately 189 F-35s that, in their current configuration, will never be able to perform the way they were expected to when taxpayer dollars were used to buy them," wrote Dan Glazier, a retired Marine Corps captain and expert on the F-35 with the Project on Government Oversight.

According to the Telegraph, “The vulnerability is the first to be found in the modern encryption techniques that have been used to secure Wi-Fi networks for the last 14 years,” and, “In theory, it allows an attacker within range of a Wi-Fi network to inject computer viruses into internet networks, and read communications like passwords, credit card numbers and photos sent over the internet.”

The “Krack” attack reportedly makes everyone’s connection vulnerable, and cannot be stopped by changing your Wi-Fi passwords..

FBI Finds 30 Pages of Clinton-Lynch Tarmac Meeting Documents

Judicial Watch was informed on October 12th by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) that the FBI has located 30 pages of documents related to the June 27, 2016, tarmac meeting between former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and former President Bill Clinton, and proposes non-exempt material be produced no later than November 30, 2017 (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Justice (No. 1:16-cv-02046)).

The new documents are being sent to Judicial Watch in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed after the Justice Department failed to comply with a July 7, 2016, FOIA request seeking the following:

All FD-302 forms prepared pursuant to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s investigation of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private e-mail server during her tenure.

All records of communications between any agent, employee, or representative of the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding, concerning, or related to the aforementioned investigation. This request includes, but is not limited to, any related communications with any official, employee, or representative of the Department of Justice, the Executive Office of the President, the Democratic National Committee, and/or the presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton.

All records related to the meeting between Attorney General Lynch and former President Bill Clinton on June 27, 2016.

The FBI originally informed Judicial Watch they did not locate any records related to the tarmac meeting.

State Dept. Claims it Has No Records of its Travel Loans to Refugees

In response to a Judicial Watch lawsuit, the State Department claims in a legal document that it has no records involving refugee travel loans that the agency gives foreigners overseas to buy plane tickets to fly to the United States. The program is operated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), an intergovernmental group that assists refugees worldwide with hundreds of millions of dollars from Uncle Sam. The money is channeled through the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM). In fiscal year 2016 the State Department gave IOM $477,257,564, according to the agency’s report on contributions to international organizations. That doesn’t even include millions more that the State Department gives the IOM for special refugee resettlement “platforms” that pop up throughout the year.

On its website the IOM writes that it provides interest-free loans “furnished by the Department of State” to “all refugees arriving in the United States:” Judicial Watch launched an investigation into the refugee loan program and filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the State Department last year to uncover details. In the request Judicial Watch asked for all records from 2010 to 2016 reflecting the number of Refugee Travel Loans furnished by the State Department’s PRM to the IOM per year, the number of travel loans that are defaulted upon per year and the amount of money written off per defaulted loan. The State Department failed to respond to the FOIA request by the federally-mandated deadline and Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit earlier this year.

In a federal court document responding to Judicial Watch’s lawsuit, the State Department writes that its “search did not retrieve any records reflecting the number of refugee travel loans furnished per year using U.S. Government funds, the number of such travel loans defaulted on annually, nor the amount of money written off per defaulted loan.”

NBC News' Noah Oppenheim under increased pressure to resign or apologize for spiking Weinstein exposé

NBC is tentatively standing by its embattled news president, Noah Oppenheim, who killed its long-gestating investigation into scandalized producer Harvey Weinstein. Oppenheim, who’s denied any ties to Weinstein, is now facing allegations that he sat at the same table as Weinstein at a glamorous New York gala in April. It's a tense situation in the halls of 30 Rockefeller Plaza which could give credence to President Trump’s recent claim that NBC News is “dishonest.”

Oppenheim, who moonlights as a Hollywood screenwriter, spiked the story that would have outed Weinstein as a serial sexual harasser months before The New York Times and The New Yorker published the stories that derailed Weinstein’s career. NBC had the story but passed on running it, a decision that’s resulted in an avalanche of accusations that the network has conflicts of interest and is lying about its reasons for killing the story.

FBI: 118 Law Enforcement Officers Died in Line of Duty in 2016; 57,180 Assaulted

118 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty last year in the United States, the FBI reported on Monday.

That was up 37 percent from the 86 law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty in 2015.

In 2016, 66 of the 118 deaths of law enforcement officers were felonious and 52 were accidental. In 2015, 41 of the 86 deaths of law enforcement officers were felonious and 45 were accidental.

Another 57,180 officers were assaulted in the line of duty in 2016, and 16,535 (or about 29 percent) sustained injuries from that assault.

"All of these numbers increased from figures reported in 2015, when 45 officers died accidentally and 41 were feloniously killed in the line of duty," the FBI said. A total of 50,212 assaults were reported in 2015.

Of the 66 officers killed by criminal acts in 2016:

--62 of the 66 were killed by firearms;

--51 were wearing body armor at the time they were killed;

-- 4 were killed intentionally with vehicles;

-- 17 were killed in ambushes, 13 were killed answering disturbance calls, and 9 were killed investigating suspicious people or circumstances.

Trump Threads the Needle on Iran

President Donald Trump announced Friday that he will not certify Iran’s compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal (known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action), something that is required every 90 days under the terms of the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015. Having twice gritted his teeth and certified Iranian compliance while his administration was conducting a thorough review of its Iran policy options, the president appears finally to have had enough of people advising him that the United States is better off sticking with a flawed deal than no deal at all.

His senior advisers are themselves split on the issue. Secretary of Defense James Mattis maintains the deal remains in the best interest of the United States. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson also reportedly favors keeping the deal even though he has acknowledged Iran’s material breach of its obligations. Meanwhile, National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster has called the JCPOA “fundamentally flawed” but has not gone as far as stating the United States should withdraw from it. UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, on the other hand, made the case for decertification. Yet even she said Sunday, “Right now, we’re in the deal to see how we can make it better. And that’s the goal. It’s not that we’re getting out of the deal. We’re just trying to make the situation better so that the American people feel safer.”

The Leftmedia punditocracy wasted no time shifting into maximum outrage mode, with some even offering their views on what Iran should do to out-fox the president.

Bannon on Winning: ‘Every Day Is Like Christmas’ After Grassroots Conservatives Thrashed GOP Establishment in Alabama

Former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon told the Values Voter Summit on Saturday that grassroots conservative candidate Judge Roy Moore’s victory in the Alabama GOP Senate runoff against D.C. establishment Sen. Luther Strange (R-AL) reminded President Donald Trump to dance with the ones that brung him.

“Every day is like Christmas Day now,” Bannon said. “I can’t wait to get up … It’s going to be a new package under [the tree] … this is the Trump program … this is what we all wanted.”

Bannon added, “Heck, I hope they’ll announce that the Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist organization and move our embassy to Jerusalem.”

Bannon said that Trump “had some bad information and some bad advice given to him” before the Alabama GOP Senate runoff, as “folks were telling him things that just weren’t so.”

“Look what happens when the president knows he has your support,” he said.

America's teen anxiety epidemic is heartbreaking

I sat on a parenting panel last month with a well-known and widely respected counselor by the name of Sissy Goff, M.Ed, LPC-MHSP. She is the Director of Child & Adolescent Counseling at Daystar in Nashville and when asked about the biggest issue facing kids today, she confirmed what you’ve probably read about recently on your news feed or even your Facebook feed – the increasing anxiety epidemic in our country.

But it’s not just an epidemic among our kids. It’s an epidemic among us -- their parents.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, anxiety is the most common mental-health disorder in the United States, affecting nearly one-third of both adolescents and adults.

In a recent article entitled “Why Are More American Teenagers Than Ever Suffering from Severe Anxiety” we glean significant insight into the anxiety epidemic:

I’ll just share just two key points from the article:

A Chinese space station will crash into Earth in a matter of months - and it could kill anyone who is standing beneath.

The 8.5-ton Tiangong-1, or “Heavenly Palace”, satellite is now out of control and is doomed to plunge into the atmosphere, a top academic has warned.

“I expect it will come down a few months from now – late 2017 or early 2018,” Jonathan McDowell, a Harvard University astrophysicist, told The Guardian.

He previously warned that there was no way of telling exactly where the space station was going to plunge to Earth.

Hillary Calling the Kettle Black

Hillary Clinton, the enabler of her own husband’s sexual harassment and assault, was asked in an interview last Friday about the accusations of sexual assault against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein. Hillary opined, “I think it’s important that we not just focus on him and whatever consequences flow from these stories about his behavior but that we recognize this kind of behavior cannot be tolerated anywhere.” She would have been well advised to stop there, but she continued, “After all, we have someone admitting to being a sexual assaulter in the Oval Office.” Bill Clinton was not available for comment.

When the interviewer brought up the legitimate point of Hillary having dismissed Bill’s accusers, her response was reprehensibly contemptuous.

Wicomico County Executive Challenges County Employees To Collect Funds for Meals on Wheels

SALISBURY - Wicomico County Executive Bob Culver kicked off the "Feeding Our Neighbors" challenge among County government employees Friday with a goal to collect much needed funds for Meals on Wheels.

Older persons need proper nutrition to maintain good health. The home delivered meal program, better known as Meals on Wheels, provides a life giving service to the homebound elderly who are confined to bed, lack transportation or are too frail to cook for themselves. While delivering meals, the driver serves as a link to other community services and resources. The regular visits also provide reassurance and alleviate some of the anxieties of those elderly persons who live alone.

The cost of one home-delivered meal is $6.90. On the busiest day, a minimum of 475 meals leave the MAC kitchen. Meals are delivered to seniors Monday through Thursdays. Last year, MAC provided 73,000 meals.

For more information, to donate or volunteer to assist in deliveries please contact MAC, Inc. located at 909 Progress Circle, Salisbury, Maryland 21804 or by telephone at 410-742-0505.

Confederate statues still stand in rural Virginia

BRISTOL, VA. — The chorus of opposition to Confederate monuments has yet to strike a chord in southwestern Virginia, where the service of the “brave men and women” who fought and died for the Confederacy is enshrined in the statue of a soldier in the center of the city.

Dedicated to the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1920, the statue was restored a few years ago and now sits on the bank of a small creek, between Lee Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The monument is also within eyeshot of the Bristol Veterans Memorial, which includes four larger-than-life bronze statues honoring members of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines, as well as a Cobra attack helicopter with shark-teeth nose art.

Joyce Kistner, a retired elementary school teacher who led the restoration effort while serving as chairwoman of the Ann Carter Lee chapter of the UDC, said local residents have celebrated their preservation push, which was funded by the sale of a “Dixie Delights Cookbook.”

“We have had the support of the community from the beginning,” Mrs. Kistner told The Washington Times, speaking on behalf of herself and not the UDC. “Everybody has appreciated it. We have never had any questions about it like, ‘Why did you want to save him?’”

“When I was a teacher, I never thought anyone would want to tear down a statue, a soldier or anything,” she said. “It’s mind-boggling.”

California Legally Recognizes Third Gender Option

For the first time in state history, California will legally recognize a third gender option for residents who do not identify as male or female next year.

Gov. Jerry Brown signed the “Gender Recognition Act” on Sunday to make it easier for people to change gender on state identification and birth certificates, while establishing a “nonbinary” designation.

The law defines nonbinary as an “umbrella term for people with gender identities that fall somewhere outside of the traditional conceptions of strictly either female or male,” including but not limited to some transgender individuals and those born with intersex traits.

Advocates say the measure expands rights for the state’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community by wiping out the need for a court order or proof of clinical treatment to apply for gender changes.

About That 'Blacks Want New Gun Laws' Poll...

“Black Americans want new gun laws to curb gun violence,” The Washington Post headline tells us. “Trump offers more police.”

And with that one statement, we have so much to rebut!

So let’s start with the racist origins of gun control in the Jim Crow South. That’s right; the first laws to prohibit guns were meant to keep guns out of the hands of blacks, leaving them defenseless against the KKK. The worst massacres in American history weren’t Orlandoand Las Vegas. As National Review’s Kevin Williamson recounts, “That happened in — depending on who is doing the counting — 1917 in East St. Louis, or in 1873 in Colfax, La., or in 1921 in Tulsa, Okla., or in 1919 in Arkansas. All of those were mob-violence episodes in which white terrorists, often working under the leadership of Democratic politicians, massacred African Americans, hundreds at a time. Some were shot, some were hanged, some were burned alive.” Unarmed and defenseless blacks.

Second, we’d call this an example of pollaganda.

Virginia man may face death penalty in Muslim teen's death

Darwin Martinez-Torres, 22, was indicted by a grand jury on Monday over the June slaying of Nabra Hassanen in Sterling, Virginia.

The teenager had been out with friends eating a meal ahead of pre-dawn Ramadan services and was returning to her mosque when she was bludgeoned with a baseball bat.

Police had said previously they were investigating whether Hassanen had been sexually assaulted, but Monday's indictment is the first time that prosecutors brought sex-crime charges of any kind against Martinez-Torres.

Open letter to NFL players

You graduated high school in 2011. Your teenage years were a
struggle. You grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. Your mother was the leader of the family and worked tirelessly to keep a roof over your head and food on your plate. Academics were a struggle for you and your grades were mediocre at best.

The only thing that made you stand out is you weighed 225 lbs and could run 40 yards in 4.2 seconds while carrying a football. Your best friend was just like you, except he didn’t play football. Instead of going to football practice after school, he went to work at McDonalds for minimum wage.
You were recruited by all the big colleges and spent every weekend of your senior year making visits to universities where coaches and boosters tried to convince you their school was best. They laid out the red carpet for you. Your best friend worked double shifts at Mickey D’s. College was not an option for him. On the day you signed with Big State University, your best friend signed paperwork with his Army recruiter. You went to summer workouts. He went to basic training.

You spent the next four years living in the athletic dorm, eating at the training table. You spent your Saturdays on the football field, cheered on by adoring fans. Tutors attended to your every academic need. You attended class when you felt like it. Sure, you worked hard. You lifted weights, ran sprints, studied plays, and soon became one of the top football players in the country. Your best friend was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division. While you were in college, he deployed to Iraq once and Afghanistan twice. He became a Sergeant and led a squad of 19 year old soldiers who grew up just like he did. He shed his blood in Afghanistan and watched young Americans give their lives, limbs, and innocence for the USA.

You went to the NFL combine and scored off the charts. You hired an agent and waited for draft day. You were drafted in the first round and your agent immediately went to work, ensuring that you received the most money possible. You signed for $16 million although you had never played a single down of professional football. Your best friend re-enlisted in the Army for four more years. As a combat tested sergeant, he will be paid $32,000 per year.

You will drive a Ferrari on the streets of South Beach. He will ride in the back of a Blackhawk helicopter with 10 other combat loaded soldiers.  You will sleep at the Ritz. He will dig a hole in the ground
and try to sleep. You will “make it rain” in the club. He will pray for rain as the temperature reaches 120 degrees. On Sunday, you will run into a stadium as tens of thousands of fans cheer and yell your name. For your best friend, there is little difference between Sunday and any other day of the week. There are no adoring fans. There are only people trying to kill him and his soldiers. Every now and then, he and his soldiers leave the front lines and “go to the rear” to
rest. He might be lucky enough to catch an NFL game on TV. When the National Anthem plays and you take a knee, he will jump to his feet and salute the television. While you protest the unfairness of life in the United States, he will give thanks to God that he has the honor of defending his great country.

To the players of the NFL: We are the people who buy your tickets,
watch you on TV, and wear your jerseys. We anxiously wait for
Sundays so we can cheer for you and marvel at your athleticism. Although we love to watch you play, we care little about your opinions until you offend us. You have the absolute right to express yourselves, but we have the absolute right to boycott you. We have tolerated your drug use and DUIs, your domestic violence, and your vulgar displays of wealth. We should be ashamed for putting our admiration of your physical skills before what is morally right. But now you have gone too far. You have insulted our flag, our country, our soldiers, our police officers, and our veterans. You are living the American dream, yet you disparage our great country. I am done with NFL football and encourage all like minded Americans to boycott the NFL as well.

Federal Government Workers Donating Overwhelmingly to Democrats

Employees who work at federal government agencies are continuing their trend of overwhelmingly donating to Democrats for the 2018 election cycle, records show.

Government workers shunned Donald Trump while giving generously to Hillary Clinton's campaign during the 2016 presidential cycle, The Hill reported last October.

The publication noted that while Republicans tend to do worse with government workers, Trump received just 5 percent of all federal government donations compared to Mitt Romney's 14 percent in 2012. Government workers at 14 agencies gave a total of $2 million during the last presidential cycle with $1.9 million—or 95 percent—going to Clinton.

Despite President Trump now occupying the White House, government workers are still overwhelmingly supporting Democrats, according to a review of employee donations at a handful of agencies.

Department of Justice employees have given nearly $30,000 in contributions for the 2018 cycle to date, data that covers contributions of $200 or more from the Center for Responsive Politics shows. Of the $30,000 in contributions, $23,233 (79 percent) was given to Democrats while $4,350 (15 percent) went to Republican campaigns.

University of Mississippi to rebuild Confederate statue despite student protest

The University of Mississippi is replacing a Confederate statue on campus which was damaged by a pickup truck last month. Now, students are outraged after learning that the Confederate statue on the Oxford campus will be rebuilt.

Ole Miss student groups are coming together to protest the forthcoming restoration. The University of Mississippi NAACP chapter released a statement in collaboration with the Students Against Social Injustice (SASI) in which they lambasted Ole Miss for their decision to fix the damaged statue instead of retiring the controversial artwork.

“The repair and continued display of this monument by the University of Mississippi will be viewed as a disregard for the safety and inclusion of Black students, staff, and faculty,” the two student groups conveyed in the statement.

JoJo Brown, president of the Ole Miss NAACP, said the statue’s presence on campus is “not a good look.”

Lawmaker proposing media permits to show how unfair gun permits are

A lawmaker in Indiana is proposing that the media be required to apply for a ‘journalism license.’

Indiana State Rep. Jim Lucas (R) proposed that journalists should meet the same requirements as gun owners, who have concealed carry permits, and drafted a bill that would mandate a license to practice it.

“If you’re OK licensing my Second Amendment right, what’s wrong with licensing your First Amendment right?” Lucas told the IndyStar.

His bill would require that journalists apply for their license with the state police. The application process would cost $75, and each reporter would be fingerprinted. The lawmaker’s bill would reject journalists, who have a felony or domestic battery conviction.

Maryland to defend Hillary Clinton lawyers Cheryl Mills Heather Samuelson David Kendall

Changes rules to prevent future investigations

Maryland officials appear to have begun to circle the wagons in defending Hillary Clinton’s lawyers, according to the lawyer trying to get them punished by the state bar.

Ty Clevenger, who last month won a court order demanding the state’s attorney grievance commission investigate David E. Kendall, Cheryl Mills and Heather Samuelson over accusations of destruction of evidence, says the state is now refusing to divulge the progress of the probe, breaking its usual rules.

Mr. Clevenger also said the state’s top court quietly changed the rules in June to allow the bar to refuse to investigate complaints filed by people who gain their knowledge through public reporting rather than personal knowledge — which would have affected his Clinton lawyer request, had the new rules been in place when he filed his complaint.

“I suppose I should be flattered that Maryland changed the rules just for little old me, but I’m not,” Mr. Clevenger wrote Monday on his blog, LawFlog.com, saying Maryland appears to be trying to protect powerful lawyers from activists like himself.

Facing Unrest On The Left, Dianne Feinstein Draws A Primary Opponent

In her quarter-century in the U.S. Senate representing California, Dianne Feinstein has built a reputation as a bipartisan bridge builder, a collegial member of a legislative body that values seniority and, at least until recently, civility.

But in the Trump era, a reputation like that may be a weakness, especially in California, home of the anti-Trump resistance where Hillary Clinton drew more than 60 percent of the vote last November.

Ending months of speculation about his political future, State Senate President Kevin de León of Los Angeles announced Sunday that he's challenging Feinstein.

In an interview with KQED, de León acknowledged that challenging Feinstein is "akin to taking on the political monarchy, the establishment" and described it as "a David and Goliath battle."

A Viewer Writes: Perhaps one of the best editorials ever written!

The Black Dilemma

"For almost 150 years the United States has been conducting an interesting experiment. The subjects of the experiment: black people and working-class whites.

The hypothesis to be tested: Can a people taken from the jungles of Africa and forced into slavery be fully integrated as citizens in a majority white population?

The whites were descendants of Europeans who had created a majestic civilization. The former slaves had been tribal peoples with no written language and virtually no intellectual achievements. Acting on a policy that was not fair to either group, the government released newly freed black people into a white society that saw them as inferiors. America has struggled with racial discord ever since.

Decade after decade the problems persisted but the experimenters never gave up. They insisted that if they could find the right formula the experiment would work, and concocted program after program to get the result they wanted. They created the Freedmans Bureau, passed civil rights laws, tried to build the Great Society, declared War on Poverty, ordered race preferences, built housing projects, and triedmidnight basketball

White House: $4,000 more for Families w Business Tax Cuts

By slashing corporate tax rates, the Trump administration said Monday, the average U.S. household will get an estimated $4,000 more a year.

This stunning 5 percent increase was met with skepticism from tax experts and Democratic lawmakers who said the math was flawed. Spread across every U.S. household, the White House analysis claims it would generate "conservatively" an income jump totaling $504 billion, or about $200 billion more than the revenues currently generated by the corporate income tax.

With this new report, the White House is making a populist argument for its proposal to cut the 35 percent corporate tax rate to 20 percent. Trump has pitched his tax plan as supporting the middle class even though the details point to major companies and the wealthy as the biggest winners. Polls suggest that voters generally frown upon the idea of cutting taxes for businesses — essentially rewarding these firms for avoiding taxes by exploiting loopholes and keeping profits overseas.

"President Trump complains about fake news — this fake math is as bad as any of the so-called fake news he has complained about," said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat. "This deliberate manipulation of numbers and facts could lead to messing up the good economy the president inherited."

Governor Larry Hogan Named “Champion of the Chesapeake” By Chesapeake Conservancy

Governor Recognized for Environmental Stewardship, Record Investments in Bay Restoration, Program Open Space

ANNAPOLIS, MD –
Governor Larry Hogan was named one of the Chesapeake Conservancy’s 2017 “Champions of the Chesapeake” for his dedication to Chesapeake Bay restoration efforts and improving water quality in Maryland and the Bay region. The Chesapeake Conservancy is a non-profit organization of conservation entrepreneurs based in Annapolis with a mission to make the natural beauty of the Bay accessible for everyone and more hospitable for wildlife by using technology to enhance the pace and quality of conservation.

“Each year, Chesapeake Conservancy recognizes extraordinary leaders from across the Chesapeake for their significant and exemplary accomplishments that protect and restore our natural systems and cultural resources,” said Chesapeake Conservancy President and CEO Joel Dunn. “The honorees and their work highlights how the Chesapeake is a bipartisan, multi-generational, multi-cultural priority – for its beauty, for our economy, for our health and for our history – and that everybody has a role to play in its conservation.”

“Governor Hogan has done an amazing job revitalizing our economy and creating jobs. He likes to say, ‘We’re open for business,’ and I think he really could start adding, ‘And we’re united for conservation,’” added Dunn.

Governor Hogan was honored for his commitment to environmental stewardship and leadership in fully funding the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund, fully funding Program Open Space, and fighting to protect federal Bay funding. Shortly after taking office, the governor brought a diverse group of stakeholders together to develop new Phosphorous Management Tool (PMT) regulations, one of the most significant steps to clean up the Bay in a generation. In less than three years, the Hogan administration has invested $3 billion in Chesapeake Bay restoration efforts, pollution reductions, and related programs – more than any other governor in Maryland history.

"For nearly three years, our administration has been working tirelessly to find real bipartisan, common sense solutions to protect our greatest natural treasure – the Chesapeake Bay,” said Governor Hogan. “We’ve been extremely aggressive and proactive in our efforts to protect the Bay, and we’re going to continue to do so, but we can’t do it alone. Partnerships with great organizations like the Chesapeake Conservancy are critical to our continued progress, and I am extremely grateful for this tremendous honor.”

Craft Brewers Hoping To Crowdfund $213B To Buy Anheuser-Busch InBev

With Anheuser-Busch InBev, MillerCoors, Sapporo, and other beer behemoths snapping up craft brewers left and right, the Craft Brewers Association is asking why this acquisition spree can’t also go the other way, which is why it’s trying to crowdfund a mere $213 billion to buy AB InBev, and then do… something, maybe, with it.

Facebook May Go For LinkedIn’s Jugular With New Resumé Features

While Facebook is, by far, the dominant “social” networking site, it’s rarely used for professional networking. Instead, people go to places like Microsoft’s LinkedIn when it comes time to look for a job or just put their resumés out there. But in Facebook’s quest to be all things to all users, it is testing new features that mimic much of what you’d see on LinkedIn.

How one woman’s drug addiction cost her everything

Two days before last Christmas, Beth Stephens was full of plans and promise. The brilliant, 39-year-old scientist who had studied in Paris, completed a Ph.D. in microbiology and had worked as a researcher for the federal government seemed to be getting her life back together.

The slim, fun-loving brunette who enjoyed outdoor concerts, afternoon chats over strong coffee with friends and showing off her soccer moves to her 9-year-old nephew, Lincoln, was determined to move out of a dark place.

“I’m out of the shelter now. Plan to put in a few online job apps and follow up w another,” wrote Stephens in a series of texts to a friend, studded with exclamation points, happy faces, and chatter about plans for Christmas Eve.
