He was my sons principle at Delmar too!!! Thank God it didnt take us long to run him out of our town! What a pathetic role model for children.

Immediate dismissal. Period.

Can happen to anyone!!!

He was my kids principal at Beaver Run School.

My my my...he was a family members old principal....what a douche-bag!!!! Maybe this will bring him down a notch and make him realize he's no better than the next.

Anonymous said...

I wonder if the BOE will suspend him?

MK said...

lets see if it goes on WBOC/WMDT $1 it don't.

You can best believe the BOE will not get rid of him. He is the worst principal ever and they continue to give him a job.I hope he goes down hard for this. For all of the people that have worked for him that's had to put up with his abuse, I hope he is made to suffer for his actions.

Anonymous said...

Nunzio was vice principal at Pinehurst way back in the late 80s/early 90s. Huge jerk even back then, and I heard he got transferred after he dragged a girl down the hall by her hair.

Anonymous said...

Folks...calm down. There isn't anything the BOE can do. If so, teachers would be fired all the time. There are lots of staff that have repeated DUIs and they haven't been fired.

As long as he hasn't committed a felony, nothing can be done. Should every person who gets a DUI citation lose their job? No. He made a mistake and has to live with that.

Anonymous said...

Question....if this was Joe Albero, would you feel the same way? Should he have lost his job or business for a mistake? Doubt it.

Happens to athletes all the time.

Anonymous said...

So when is this idiot going to just get fired? And, what about the other clown who was just sent packing from another school for being drunk just a few weeks ago? When will he get fired? WBOE, stop covering up this crap (teachers too) and get rid of these clowns!!!

Anonymous said...

He abuses his power as an administrator and I've never understood how he has remained in this role. I know the BOE is aware of many of his antics. Why they choose to keep turning away from them....?

Anonymous said...

Seems like this BOE just moves "bad apples" around rather than deal with the situation.
I agree, everyone can make mistakes and no one on this earth is perfect. However, I feel that the nature of the position, in this case a school principal, the individual must be held to a higher standard. Teachers and principles are role-models to our children and as such their behavior must be held to a higher standard.
How can we as parents guide our children in the right path to follow, when their leaders (in this case a principal) does not follow the law and behaves poorly?
At the very least, a few days suspension without pay and a permanent documentation on his personnel record should be entered.

Anonymous said...

It's legal for everyone to get drunk after work, we all do it. Driving after that is a bad thing. This is not job related until he drives TO work DRUNK, and works drunk.

Is this the case? Probably not, so not a fireable offense.

But, yeah, being an a$$ at work and a drunk the rest of the time may be detrimental to employability.

Anonymous said...

I think if he has had police attention twice in 30 years he should be locked up without chance of parole.

Anonymous said...

A few people mentioned the real story here. This guy has been in the WCBOE school system for about 15 years too long. He has done numerous things that were so horrible you would expect him to be fired, but instead he gets moved from one school to another.

Anonymous said...

Your analogy to the proposed resolution only hurts your cause...if you look up what it actually says..it is to punish people involved in some pretty serious stuff. Not jaywalking.

Anonymous said...

Nunzio isn't the villain everyone makes him out to be. Dragging a girl by her hair? Seriously? Do you people even think before you post? What he did was wrong, definitely in poor judgment. But if everyone was fired for making a bad decision job hopping would be rampant. I'm not condoning this but get real, he won't be fired. He made a serious error in judgment but it doesn't mean his career should be over.

Anonymous said...

What a bunch of morans. The guy made a mistake. Why would you fire the guy when he is the only principal in years to get that school heading in the right direction.

Anonymous said...

Poor guy those kids drove him to drink

Anonymous said...

This guy is a whack job from way back, don't know that he needs to be fired but sure does need some reassessment Doctor Fredrickson, ..BTW Doctor.... are you able to tell people to take their clothes off???

7:42 Millions spent on a single school with handpicked teachers, moving the class of emotionally disturbed children to another school, and having almost 100 children choose to enroll in other county schools because of federal school choice made the difference. Ask for the amount of federal, state and local money spent on Prince Street students and prepare to faint. Nowhere near that was spent on children at other schools and never will be.

Anonymous said...

Wait until you see how much money is wasted on the new Bennett middle school. The test
scores were not affected by the disturbed children to start with. The school was failing and he fixed it plane and simple.

Anonymous said...

Knowing the BOE I see a new supervisory position being created in the central office. Less work and bigger salary is usually how principals are punished.

Anonymous said...

7:42 If this were an isolated mistake, I'd say forgive, learn, move on. The reality is he has physically assaulted people, trashed property and verbally abused many during his intoxicated events. Is he really THAT great as a principal that the BOE will turn a blind eye to his lack of moral compass?

Anonymous said...

8:47 Losing 100 children, many working below grade level, does help raise scores. So does an unlimited amount of money being spent on extra programs and materials.

Anonymous said...

Educators have a "moral turpitude" clause. Time to invoke it.

Anonymous said...

908....and you know this how? Doubt it...just trying to trash him further

From the Board's website under administrators contract...doesn't look like they can do anything since it did not meet these requirements

3.3 PERSONAL LIFE - The personal life of a unit member shall be the concern of and warrant the attention of the Board whenever (1) it interferes with the conduct of the school(s) or central office or (2) it prevents the unit member from satisfactorily performing his assigned duties.
The Board and the Association recognize the value of expressing, in a professional manner, personal views regarding non-confidential school system policies, programs and operations

But it's a "mistake" he makes quite frequently, he just got caught this time. I can't count how many time I've seen him drunk at various establishments in town. He usually leaves shortly after irritating a large percentage of the women in any given establishment.

It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere said...

It is amazing how many people will trash and kick others when they are knocked down.....like all of you have NEVER made mistakes? Would you want his job? Who would? I would be a JERK TOOO if I had to put up with the Puppet Masters at the BOE, the undisciplined children (due to poor parenting, lack of parenting, kids raising kids, etc. - NOT the childrens' actual fault?), parents wanting everything tailored to their needs, and the list goes on! He would probably better off be fired....and be much happier in Margaritaville....I am sure many of the teachers would LOVE him then and would join him over a few cold ones! Believe me he is not the only BIG DRINKER in the school system....I can name many principles and others who have been seen drinking, doing shots, and acting foolish at many events...he is also not the only louzy principle in town.....take a good look at the BOE....how about Dr. Fredrickson? Talk about a poor role model? He is in the job just for himself.....not for children....he is not a child advocate.....he knows nothing about what our children in this community actually need....it's ALL about looking good....and making the grade....it is sad to see that the BOE only cares about test scores....after school real life begins and test scores no longer matter.....good morales, life experiences, positive role models, and aiming our children towards the right direction to obtain their goals is what really matters in life!

SALISBURY: Alternative school administrator facing second impaired driving charge

Mar. 25, 2013 2:01 PM, |

SALISBURY -- An administrator at Choices, the alternative school in Wicomico County, is facing his second DUI charge in less than a year.
Howard John Kotz III, 31, of Salisbury, who is listed as John Kotz on the Wicomico County Board of Education website, was charged with driving vehicle under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol and failure of individual driving on highway to display license to uniformed police on demand.
School system spokeswoman Tracy Sahler confirmed this is the same Kotz. He is the dean of students at Choices.
At the time of this March 7 offense, he was on an 18-month probation for a previous Driving While Impaired charge, court records show. He pleaded guilty to that June 21, 2012, violation later in 2012 and the disposition was probation before judgment, according to court records.
In the recent incident, Kotz is alleged to have intended to drive his 4-year-old child from a day care on South Schumaker Drive but a concerned citizen assisted the child from the vehicle before the deputy arrived, the Sheriff's Office reported.
He is alleged to have refused to submit to a breath test, and he was released on the issuance of citations.

Basically it means the guy is a total jacka$$ but has somehow manipulated his way around and has finally got caught. If he were a decent human being people wouldn't be so apt to commenting now would they? Thank you however for you comment 10:22 pm.

Anonymous said...

Why not. He certainly trashes others. And ficticiously I might add. I know this from personal experience.

Anonymous said...

Give the man credit he runs a good school and is in control of whats going on at his school. Theres some schools who need a leader as Nunzio. Pinehurst rock bottom no leadership principal or vice principal do nothing but take off and gone from school just about everyday, leaves dean of students to run the school with little knowledge. Wake up people these schools need leaders not pay check collectors doing nothing.

Well, Out of all these 61 comments - Let's see, I bet most of you have had a drink or two and have also gotten in a car and drove down the street and the only difference is - You didn't get pulled over!!! We have all done it and Mr. Nunzio is no different than the rest of us!! I do not wish a DUI on ANYONE!! If you had had one - You know how he feels and if you have never had one - Do not critize, until you walk a mile in someone else's shoes!! BTW, You can have a beer or two and be over the limit and to me that is BS!! I also know ALOT of people who have a cooler full of beer in the back of their pick up trucks and drink while they are driving!! So please spare me of all this bs about him getting a DUI - After all he is human!!! Hell if I was principal, I would be drunk EVERY weekend!!! LOL!!!! Don't wish this on you or anyone else, Mr. Nunzio!! Go get a good lawyer!!

You have to love Wicomico County.
Funny how the Wicomico Circuit Court Administrator was arrested for DUI a month ago and nobody seemed to notice. By the way, thats the top manangement position in circuit court. Guess you could say she's the "principal" of the entire county circuit court.

Hush Hush....

This is a clear case of Clinton and Monica, You should not do it but it doesn't change how you do your job! The problem is, he is in a "Role Model" position, what message has he sent out to those who see him as that?

Anonymous said...

Good reason to let him drive drunk and be a menace to society?

Anonymous said...

Okay. I don't drink. He's a dangerous person.

Quite offensive. I never have. And statistics show that the average DWI has done it many times prior to being caught.

Anonymous said...

At least the Clinton /Monica thing could be kept out of eyesight from children if a parent wished. This however will be all over the school I'm sure.

If this is news worthy of a post...why was the information about the Wicomico County Circuit Court administrator, Wendy Riley's very recent DWI not news worthy? She is a high ranking county employee making equally stupid decisions and costing the taxpayers lots of money!

Anonymous said...

Now has his driving privilege been suspended?

Anonymous said...

It is all over the school andthedistrict as well. He talked to the staff at thee elf the day yesterday. I am sure the staff is talking about this now, as is the entire community.

I'm not sure if I heard correctly but I was told by a teacher that if this happened to a teacher they would be fired. It is apparently in their contract. If true, wouldn't that be the same for a principal seeing that he supervises teachers. Joe, can you see if this is true and if so why teachers are held more accountable than principals?

Anonymous said...

Then good for her as well!

Anonymous said...

I find this funny, he was my vice principal at Beaver Run Elementary School. I am now 28yrs old and for the life of me cannot figure out what is wrong with people of power these days. I hope the board of education fires him because he is not the role model that I would want for my children. There are commercials on TV all the time about what it costs you when you get a DUI or DWI. I hope more is done to Chris Nunzio, these are the types of people that need to be made an example of. It should not matter what position you are in, you should get the same treatment as the average citizen would get, PERIOD!!! Shame on you Mr. Nunzio!!!

Anonymous said...

I assure you this is not Wendy's first time being stopped after having been out drinking heavily (like she normally does several nights per week), but usually her job and who she is gets her out of it because the cop knows her and either follows her home or escorts her home and it's all forgotten about.

I;m reading all of this and laughing my butt off!!!!!!!! How about the group of teachers that use to go to Waterman's every Friday after work for Happy hour?! I know because I use to work there and saw them!!! But, That's ok?! Give me a break people!!! So, You all want him to be fired? If that's the case over 80% of the country would be out of work if they got a DUI! I know some that have 2 or 3!! How many of you have a glass of wine or a beer while making dinner and realize you need something at the store and jumped right into the car and went to the store to get the item and you don't even think twice about it and Lord knows i have done it many times!!! Also, Not for anything - was he wasted or did he have a drink or two and btw, just like above stated, you can have 1 or 2 drinks and be over the limit!! We can Thank MADD for that!! Those of you who do not know what that means- Mothers Against Drunk Drivers!! I also applaud him for not doing the breath test!!! Any good Lawyer will tell you to always refuse that!!! Good Luck to you!! Don't wish that on NOBODY!! And It CAN happen to any of us!!!

Good point there 12:46 AM. Dr. Freddy is well aware of what the part time school teacher does every day and night of the week. Dr. Freddy is well aware of what Ireton did at Mojo's that evening in the ladies room in front of 3 female city employees. Dr. Freddy reads this blog every single day just like most "supervisors" do. They make sure their access to SBYnews isn't blocked on their computers. Dr. Freddy also attends all the Mayoral Candidate forums in support of his buddy. Dr. Freddy holds that carrot in front of Ireton so he can get what he wants from the city.

1:54 what is there to explain? When the WCBOE last took up the issue of redistricting, Nutsy supported bussing Delmar kids to East Salisbury. This is not speculation, but fact. Cathy Townsend also supported it. If it weren't for Bunky Luffman fighting for Delmar kids on that committee and Dave Ring agreeing to take the kids in fifth and sixth grades, who knows what would have happened.

Anonymous said...

Innocent until proven guilty. It sounds like he knew what he was doing by refusing everything. A decent lawyer will contest and the charges will be dropped. By refusing the breath test, he will lose his license unless he gets a breathalizer in his car. Worst case scenario he will get probation before judgement.

Anonymous said...

1:59 refusing to take the test is tantamount to guilt in our state. They immediately suspend your license.

What kind of message are we sending our children if he's allowed to stay in his position!?
And he was once on the Traffic and Safety commission of Salisbury!? What a PHONY!!!!

For those that defend this individual, citing we 'all' have been in this position and have drank in public, driven while intoxicated, and/or made a mistake, you need to recognize that this man has a position that has to hold him to a high level of accountability. His behavior could possibly have just been a bad night, wrong decision...but those of us who have watched him for the last decade know otherwise. Wake up BOE...do not move him to 'the Board' and pretend it makes it better. Your teachers are watching this, along with the public and we want our profession and professionals to be respected for the positive we accomplish. Please remove the individuals who tarnish our vocation.

Also this guys is a creep I have heard first hand from teachers at Delmar that he has grabbed their butts at school events! My sister was also recently creeped out by him at Adams Rib, I just wish I was there to make fun of this loser in person. anyways Nuzio I will be waiting for you at Adams Rib hope to see you soon low life! True story 10:10pm!

Anonymous said...

According to the statistics on the www.drinkinganddriving.org website, 900,000 people in the U.S. are arrested each year for DUI's. Yet for some reason, our news sites aren't flooded with their stories. I guess it's because he's a principal that it's such big news, but last time I checked, school is not in session on Friday nights, so I'm assuming this happened on his own personal time. Now obviously principals should take precautions to set a good example for others and not do things that would be deemed morally reprehensible, but can all of you that have responded on this board honestly say that you have never had a few drinks and driven yourself home? I guess none of you would ever do anything morally reprehensible...you'd never lie or cheat and you would certainly never pass judgment on someone else by talking trash about them on a website. Oh wait...

I teach at Prince street elementary and was reluctant to write this as Mr Nunzio is a vindictive and arrogant person and I fear losing my job. However, that being said I feel it my Civic duty as a Teacher and an ethically minded and moral person to denounce Mr Nunzio for what he truly is...an arrogant self effacing jerk who demoralizes women. Just ask the female Teachers at Delmar Elementary what they thought of Mr Nunzio!
But that aside, which I only brought up to highlight his character, he DROVE DRUNK! I drink a little but I DO NOT DRIVE DRUNK NOR HAVE I EVER DRIVEN DRUNK...PERIOD! Driving drunk is a CHOICE and not an accident! This poor excuse for a man and principal NEEDS TO BE FIRED and NOT just transferred to the 'board'!! Come on folks PLEASE DON'T let the WCBOE hide this! This man is a BAD ROLE MODEL FOR OUR STUDENTS AND COMMUNITY!!!
DRIVING DRUNK IS NOT 'JUST A MISTAKE'...IT IS A CHOICE THE DRUNK MAKES THAT CAN AND DOES KILL PEOPLE!!!!

Salisbury Police report on Chris Nunzio:

Christopher Philomen Nunzio , 55, of Salisbury, who is the principal of Prince Street Elementary School, was stopped by a Wicomico County Sheriff's Office deputy shortly after 11 p.m. Friday in the area of Nanticoke Road at Parsons Road. Police said the vehicle had been weaving on the road and at one point nearly sideswiped the deputy's patrol car prior to the traffic stop. When the deputy made contact with Nunzio, police said the odor of alcohol could be detected coming from the vehicle. When the deputy asked Nunzio if he had been drinking, police said Nunzio replied that he was coming from a party at a restaurant.

'Weaving on the road'...THIS JERK COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE!!!! And HE was on the Traffic and Safety Committee of Salisbury!?!?

GOODBYE MR NUNZIO TIME TO GO!!!!!!

Mr. Nunzio,as principal, is hired to enforce the rules so that those students who want to learn can. The parents who have no discipline in their home resent Mr. Nunzio punishing the offenders. Wise up and get a handle on your kids and maybe they won't end up in prison. Carry on Nunzio and stand tall for incomptent parents breed students who don't listen, follow no rules and think the world owes them everything they desire. The people who are complaining could not begin to do your job. They are jealous of anyone who is successful.

Enforcing rules is a necessary part of a principal's job. You are right that parents often resent anyone who disciplines their child. IF inappropriate conduct toward female employees or females outside the school setting is part of what's going on, that is illegal. Formal complaints to the board or to the police need to be made by the women involved.

6th grade was already attending the Middle School for YEARS before this happened.

Anonymous said...

10:46 is correct. Ring took the fifth grade during that time period. But I think the point of the original commenter is still valid. Which I believe is, at a time when Nunzio could have provided community leadership on new issue he didn't and Ring and Lufkin picked up the slack.

Hey 10:42 am your ignorance is showing!

edit: The Merriam-Webster Learner's Dictionary offers the same advice: third-person, then second-person, finally first-person pronouns for general usage; mixing up the order is not necessarily rude, but can serve to emphasize the role of the speaker in the action.

EITHER is CORRECT!

So Mr. Nunzio went to a party at a restaurant and had a few drinks, what he does on his own time is his business. He is an awesome Principle at Prince Street Elementary, he has brought some discipline back into the school, I support him 100%....I don't know of anyone who is perfect....we are all human.

When somone drives DRUNK it's EVERYONE'S business that has a drivers license and drives on our roads!!!!
No one is perfect but to drive DRUNK...THAT IS INEXCUSABLE BECAUSE DRUNKS KILL PEOPLE!!!!

So he's an 'awesome Principal'? So I guess that makes it OK HE DRIVES DRUNK!?!?

I am a teacher at Prince Street Elementary. I find it disturbing that Mr. Nunzio's ability to lead a staff has come into question in light of a totally unrelated event. He is an excellent principal who demands the best from his employees. His actions time and time again have shown his dedication to children in this county at any school he has led. He is an advocate for a child's best interest and TEACHERS THAT DO THEIR JOB. I have the upmost respect for him as my superior, and will continue to do my best under his leadership at Prince. I don't really understand how anyone who hasn't worked under him, OR WHO ISN'T A TEACHER, can be so sure of what he does or how he treats his employees. Many citizens are taking this sad event as their opportunity to bash someone based on stories and second hand gossip. Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, and Salisbury is full of glass houses.

Amen ! I also am a teacher at Prince Street and I feel he is an outstanding boss! Does he demand a great deal from his staff......the answer is Yes! He puts so many hours in for the school I do not mind giving 110% We all make mistakes and we learn from mistakes! This site is just sick......has anyone ever heard if you do not have anything nice to say do not say anything at all!

If you really teach at my school I am sad because of your blatant ignorance of the English language. If you fear to lose your job then maybe you should try harder, teaching is a personal endeavor, and I "denounce" you for being ignorant. REALLY????

Thank you for the post. The post by3/26 at 11:42 pm is not a post from any staff member at Prince Street. It is someone that is hiding behind the word "anaonymous!"

I lost my daughter and little grandson to a drunk driver six years ago. My husband became a different man. At first he was extremely angry. And then he became very depressed. He died of a massive stroke which I believe stemmed from this horrible tragedy. I wanted this man responsible for the death of my precious granddaughter and grandson put away for life. I was now the angry one!

But I learned something important...forgiveness is a wonderful thing. I forgave that man responsible for so much tragedy in my life. I did it for me and not him.

It was his first drunk driving offense and he basically walked away. I still forgave him and am glad that I did.
He never showed remorse nor did he admit guilt...but I forgave him anyway. At the last hearing I looked him in the eye and said "I forgive you". He broke down for the first time and cried and said he was sorry. And I knew in my heart that he was.

My life now goes on. I miss my only child and grandson and my husband. But it's all good.

I don't know Mr Nunzio but I'd like to think he is very sorry for his DUI. I think what would be good for him and your community would be for him to put a notice in your local paper and apologize to your community and to his students. Let the healing begin.

I completely agree with everything you said. Reading these comments about an excellent principal who made one mistake does not make me question his ability to continue to do an awesome job. It just makes me realize that I naiively underestimated how cruel and cold-hearted some people in our community can be.

Oh my~~ how naive and inaccurate you are about Chris Nunzio. The reports of him being out regularly intoxicated and acting inappropriately are not made up. This is NOT a one time event. He does this all the time. While I understand how individuals want to forgive a one time transgression, this is NOT the case. I know the facts..he is an abusive alcoholic who is now getting his Prince ST. teachers to believe his mea culpas. I've heard them before...he is extremely manipulative, vindictive and dangerous. My heart goes out to 1:18 pm...you're a better soul than I to have arrived at such a peaceful and generous place. I hope the community rallies against this type of individual who regularly drives intoxicated and suggests strongly that the courts make him pay for his mistake not only with a consequence, but also with a rehab requirement.

I used to drive drunk when I was young and dumb and at the ripe old age of 30 I woke up and became responsible about my drinking. This man is almost twice my age and he hasn't figured this out? If you drive drunk you are a dangerous person as I used to be, period. As someone who did this I always knew what I was doing was wrong! I ALWAYS KNEW I WAS MAKING A BAD DECISION!!!!! Guess what else when I was in this phase of my life I did this hundreds of times. People that are saying this happens over and over again are right. People don't change their behaviors without consequences (something the school system should try! STUDENTS AND EMPLOYEES!)I had a drinking problem that I was lucky enough to overcome. This moron does this weekly, and have you ever thought that people in the community are "jumping on him" because he is a complete jerk. I work in the school system and have worked with this man and he respect no one! This story is getting a lot of buzz around Wicomico County that is true but I would have never posted on it if I have not seen this man that lacks the morals that we want to instill in our children, in action. My guess is that these supporting teachers are really that tub of lard Miss Wood putting her two cents in! She is a just as bad as Nunzio if she's your kids teacher she was yelling at 3rd graders at Delmar (she's now at Prince St) for crying out loud! At DELMAR! These kids are saints compared to other elementary schools. People shame on you for defending his actions as normal behavior. Far from the norm!

I think all of us as teens and very young adults have done stupid things that we should not have. Chris Nunzio is not a teen nor a young adult. Sometimes we want to give people the benefit of the doubt when they do stupid things...maybe he didn't know he was over the limit....things like that. However after reading the press release from the Sheriff's office I changed my mind. The guy was totally smashed and couldn't even follow basic directions.

Why was this Nunzio guy so disliked at Delmar Elementary?

Good afternoon,

I am a a paralegal in Montgomery County Maryland and am vacationing in Ocean City this week. I have been following this blog all week and have noticed the overwhelming negative comments towards this Mr Christopher Nunzio. In my profession I have learned to be objective and open minded. But I have also learned that an overwhelming consensus of opinions usually shows merit.
I have been on a total of five cases involving school administrators in my county for alcohol related offenses.
(Two Principals and three assistant Principals). In each case the administrators were removed from their jobs and not reassigned to other county schools. What's interesting is that 4 of these 5 were DWI's and not DUI for what Mr Nunzio has been charged with (DWI USED to be the more serious charge of the two but now DUI is the most serious).
By refusing a breathalyzer even if Mr Nunzio receives PBJ the DUI will ALWAYS be on his record...the downside of accepting a PBJ plea. There is however a multitude of scenarios that could play out.
However, I suggest Mr Nunzio admit to his insobriety and step down from his Principal position and issue an apology to the community and students for his moral misstep. He is in a position which is recognized by our society as a position of moral leadership and trust.
Bottom line is Mr Nunzio needs to go.

My wife and I are a young couple with two young children and are scheduled to move into the Prince Street Elementary area.
We are now very much concerned about this school's character after reading so much on here about this school's Principal. Is he still the Principal there? Is he going to be removed from his position?
It looks to us that a DUI should be enough to force a person in a leadership position to be removed from their post. Not a very good moral example for the students and community at large.

And we saw one post in reference to 'that tub of lard Miss Wood'...is she a teacher at the school? What is the problem with her?

Thank you.

Hello:

I am a professional woman living in the Salisbury area.
I was shocked to learn of this Principal Chris Nunzio getting a DUI. He should be removed from his position.

But what has shocked me even more are the accusations people are making about him as to sexual harassment at Delmarva Elementary School...aka 'grabbing teachers butts'!
I am not a lawyer so can somone explain to me why this man is still employed by the county school system if he has indeed done such a thing? I am not disputing that he has done this as I must admit the accusations seem to be rampant throughout the county against him. I am just asking WHY he is not in jail for such an atrocious act?! Did the teachers not come forward for fear of losing their jobs? Would not the teachers union protect them?
Again, I don't know but I think we all should know these answers.

Anonymous said...

Teachers can go to the union about this form of sexual harassment. However, many teachers refrain from going to the union due to retribution of Mr. Nunzio. Basicly, by going to the union teachers are putting a target on their backs.
Keep in mind he isn't the only principal in the county that is a BULLY. There are other principals in the county that are extremely manipulative, vindictive, and dangerous as well.

Dear 5 O'clock,

I don't know who you are (LOVE your sense of humor!), but I think that you are right about Nunzio and the state of public schools in general! It's all about test scores and nothing else! I'm guessing you are (or were) a teacher either at PSES or at one of the other schools in the county, and if you are at Prince be careful that jerk Fredricksen doesn't find out who you are. It doesn't sound like Nunzio was liked anywhere he was, but he WAS one of Freddy's hand picked buddies...you pointed out the real problem, being Fredricksen - I know that things at Prince have been a hot mess for a long time before Nunzio showed up. Some teachers I know said that when he got there he told a lot of people he was there to clean up the stuff the other Principal did/did not do but all he did was throw his little man tantrums, embarrass and threaten the staff and pretty much rule by fear - that's a real good way to fix things - just make people scared for their jobs just like Fredricksen does, not to mention how he pretty much pissed off the parents, and now look at him. He'll never get fired because Fredricksen doesn't have the balls to can him.

....Freddy, we all know you read this so do SOMETHING to Nunzio to show us all that 5'Oclock is right you pencil neck jerk! Why don't you move Kirby Bryson (NW Principal) and let him save the school!

PSES PROFESSIONAL! said...

9:24 - are you kidding me? If you really are a teacher at Prince, maybe you should talk to Lori Lindsey, Deanna Richardsen, Linda McKee, Gina Deal, the current AP or countless others that he has demeaned, been unprofessional to and otherwise been flat out ugly to! These are all high quality staff members and master teachers (Ms. Ellis is a former STATE GUIDANCE COUNSELOR OF THE YEAR! ) he has tried to run into the ground. Nunzio has played favorites for YEARS! Being a Principal means you are held to a much higher standard and he knew it when he took the job like all of us! He didn't have one or two drinks and get pulled over for forgetting to put on a turn signal - he was PLASTERED!!!!! He could have hurt the cop who's car he nearly hit! That is inexcusable! They rode out many others in this school system for far less in the last two years alone, and to have a siting Principal pull a stunt like this reflects very poorly on the profession! He should be either given the option to resign immediately or be terminated! I have written a letter to the state super, and Dr. Freddy, Dr. Handy and Susan Jones are all complicit in this if they don't take action!

I am a practicing Attorney in Baltimore City and have been reading this blog with great interest since its first entry. I'm vacationing in OC right now and have looked into this incident as an unbiased observer who may be able to shed some light on all this.
First let me stress that a DUI is a VERY SERIOUS offense in the State of Maryland...period (more serious than a DWI).
With that being said let me emphasize that the local Board of Education, I believe it's Wicomico, is fooling itself to dismiss Mr Nunzio's DUI as merely a 'personal matter'. Driving on a State road with a State drivers license and getting a DUI IS a PUBLIC matter. And Mr Nunzio is a PUBLIC aka STATE employee.
As a State of Maryland school Principal Mr Nunzio is mandated by contract to adhere to a Code of Moral Ethics and act as a role model for his students and community at large.
Since he has violated his contract the law mandates he therefore must be terminated or take early retirement if eligible.
Your Superintendent knows this or should. For Wicomico County I believe it is a John Frederickson. I say this as I am using the Internet for validity which is not always current. You can contact your school Board for this county for a phone/email for Mr Frederickson I would surmise.
In conclusion, I am assuming that your Superintendent is pursuing this route for Mr Nunzio.
If not, you can contact Maryland's State Supervisor of public schools below and express your desire for Mr Nunzio's removal if it has not yet occurred:

--Lillian M. Lowery, Ed.D., State Superintendent of Schools
410-767-0462
Llowery@msde.state.md.us

Thank you and best of luck.

You can't come forward against him. He's in deep with the school board. He has been known to favor women with large breasts and pretty faces. If you don't fit his MO then he treats you like crap. If you go against him he will make excuses to have you fired or transfered.
