U.S. employers added 224,000 workers in June, buoying a choppy labor market whose growth remains significantly slower than in 2018.
Payrolls in the country have expanded by an average 172,000 positions a month in 2019, according to the U.S. Labor Department, down from 223,000 the year before. The agency also reduced preliminary numbers from the previous two months, slicing May's gains to 72,000 and April's to 216,000, for a total decrease of 11,000.
The data from the Labor Department offers a gauge of the effects of President Trump's global trade disputes, covering a period after the White House had more than doubled some tariffs on Chinese goods and was threatening double-digit duties on all remaining imports from the world's second-largest economy.

CIR DEFENDS HOMEOWNER FINED FOR TELLING THE TRUTH
On May 16, 2019 CIR filed a petition for writ of certiorari with the US Supreme Court asking it to review a decision of the Iowa Supreme Court holding a landlord liable for housing discrimination for truthfully informing a tenant the reason for her lawful eviction.
Teresa Seeberger rented rooms in a house she owned. When Seeberger learned that her tenant’s fifteen-year-old daughter had become pregnant, she told the tenant that she and her daughter would have to leave. The eviction itself was legal: all agree that it did not violate the Davenport discrimination ordinance.
However, the Davenport Civil Rights Commission determined that providing the truthful reason for the eviction was unlawful because it was a statement that reflected discrimination on the basis of familial status. An Administrative Law Judge initially recommended nearly $50,000 in damages and fines against Seeberger.

The Battle of Gettysburg: The untold story of the Pennsylvania Irish Brigade
On July 1, 1863, the Battle of Gettysburg began. We remember the Irish Pennsylvania Fighting 69th who "put up a magnificent fight that saved the Angle and killed any chance that Pickett’s charge could succeed."
The following is an excerpt from 'Lincoln and The Irish' by Niall O'Dowd, founder of IrishCentral.
On this anniversary of Gettysburg, we recall the incredible role of the Pennsylvania Fighting 69th, all Irish immigrants in stopping Pickett’s charge, General Lee’s last desperate attempt to break through the Union line on July 3rd, 1863 in the most important battle ever fought on American soil.
There is a phrase in the Irish National Anthem, which is usually sung in Irish, that reads “Bearna Baol.” The closest translation of “Bearna Baol” would be the “Gap of Danger,” or the most dangerous part of the battlefield.

Leftist Snowflake Kicked Out of Barbecue Joint For Harassing Trump Supporters
A leftist snowflake walked into the Hill Country Barbecue outpost in Washington, D.C. and was suddenly triggered by a diner wearing a “Make America Great Again” ballcap.
“Just got thrown out of Hill Country DC for standing up to a Nazi,” a man identified as TJ Helmstetter wrote in a flurry of dispatches on Twitter. “Don’t ever go there again. They support Trump and Nazis.”
If I’m reading his tweets correctly, this aggrieved snowflake pitched a hissy fit and accosted some poor soul who was just trying to enjoy some delicious brisket on the Fourth of July.
“Guy wears MAGA hat at my favorite restaurant. I say ‘hey are you from dc?’ He says ‘no.’ I say ‘we don’t tolerate racism in this city,'” TJ Helmstetter wrote on Twitter. ” His girlfriend then physically jabs fingers into my chest and starts threatening me. Management tells me to leave, not woman who assaulted me.”

State Fair Cancels Confederate Railroad Concert (Take a Wild Guess Why)
Illinois Fears Band’s Name Might Be Offensive
The latest conflict involves the state of Illinois and Confederate Railroad, a popular country and southern rock band.
It seems that Confederate Railroad has been booted from an upcoming appearance at the DuQuoin State Fair Grandstand, according to television station WSIL.
The Pinckneyville Press reports that the band’s August 27th performance was canceled over “racial sensitivity concerns.”
In other words, somebody was triggered by the band’s name. And to be even more specific, they were triggered by the word “Confederate.”

JIMMIE WALKER RIPS KYRIE, LEBRON 'Stop Complaining, Stop Getting Political'
TV legend Jimmie Walker is sick and tired of NBA stars complaining about life -- telling icons like LeBron James, KD and Kyrie Irving to keep quiet and just be happy to be making so much money.
"The thing that upsets me the most about NBA players is they're so upset, they're so angry," the former "Good Times" star told TMZ Sports.
"Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant ... what are you upset about? I'm happy if I'm making that kind of money! They're always complaining."
72-year-old Walker says NBA stars have lost touch with reality -- "They don't understand what it's like to be in real life. Real life is getting your own bags off the [luggage carousel]. No charters, no limos waiting for you ... that's what real life is about."
Walker also went off on NBA stars for getting too political -- saying, "I think that when you're making $150 million a year, people don't want to hear your political views."

German Swimming Pool Closes After Gang of 50 North Africans Cause Havoc
A swimming pool in the German town of Kehl had to be shut down early by police after a group of 50 North African French-speaking youths caused havoc among the bathers.
The town, which is located on the German-French border next to Strasbourg, often sees many French visitors according to the manager of the pool, but staff were forced to contact police after the dozens of youths began to cause a disturbance to other bathers, Schwarzwälder Bote reports.
The city’s press release stated that the young people had stormed the diving tower in the early evening, as well as a number of them jumping from all sides into the pool and had ignored instructions from staff.

‘Worst Kind Of Hypocrisy’: GOP Senator, Liberal Paper Hammer Nike For Chinese Partnerships
A Republican senator and the editorial board of a liberal newspaper both took Nike to task Wednesday for its Chinese partnerships.
Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley accused Nike of “the worst kind of hypocrisy” for its Chinese dealings in light of the company’s decision to pull an American flag-themed shoe line following criticism from former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
“You would think that this would be something to celebrate — the ‘Betsy Ross’ flag, I mean Betsy Ross let’s not forget, an independent businesswoman, who had her own shop in Philadelphia, who designed our nation’s first flag, who sewed our first flag, I mean she’s truly a founding mother,” Hawley said in a Fox News interview.

Omar Demonizes Immigration Officials: Time To Discuss ‘Eliminating Their Existence’
Far-left Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) continued to demonize and lie about federal immigration authorities on Wednesday and went as far as to say that she thinks it's time to discuss "eliminating their existence."
Omar made the remarks while speaking to fellow notorious anti-Semite Marc Lamont Hill — who was fired from CNN last year after he called for the elimination of Israel — during an appearance on BET's digital series "Black Coffee Live."
"We have rogue agencies that have no accountability, no transparency, in how they conduct their business," Omar said in a clip first reported by the Free Beacon's Charlie Hoffmann. "We know that they have spoken in the most vile ways about immigrants. We know that they have certain views about, you know, what brown and black people deserve. And so we should be having a conversation about eliminating their existence."

WALSH: We Were Told That Kaepernick Was Protesting Police Brutality, Not The Flag. Now The Truth Has Finally Come Out.
There is almost nothing to say about the fact that Nike recalled a patriotic American flag shoe after Colin Kaepernick complained. It is so self-evidently absurd and disgraceful — such a cowardly surrender to political correctness — that analysis is rendered moot.
Kaepernick reportedly felt that the flag — a Betsy Ross flag from the American Revolution — somehow represents slavery. Of course, if the American flag represents slavery, then every flag of every country 200 years old or over also represents slavery. Slavery was a universally accepted institution all across the world for thousands of years. The only thing unique about American slavery is that we practiced it for such a comparatively short amount of time. Egypt had slavery for 3,000 years. We had it for 90. These are facts that have apparently escaped Kaepernick's notice.
The one notable, though far from surprising, aspect of this story is how it finally exposes the truth behind Kaepernick's kneeling stunt. We were told for years that the kneelers were not protesting the flag — or the country or the national anthem, for that matter. A viral tweet with over 300,000 likes summed up this defense: "Rosa Parks was not protesting the bus. Gandhi was not protesting the food. The colonists were not protesting tea. Players are not protesting the flag or the anthem. They are protesting injustice."

Flint To Rescind Lead Pipe Contract From Lowest Bidder And Award It To Politically-Connected Firm, Delaying Fixes
For the second time, the city of Flint, Michigan, is poised to reject the results of its contract bidding process after an experienced local firm provided the lowest offer.
“This is unethical, it is bid rigging, and I certainly won’t be a part of this,” city Councilwoman Eva Worthing said during a Tuesday meeting. “Does council and the city want to deal with a lawsuit over unfair bidding practices by this city? This is favoritism, cronyism … This is basically a sham, it’s unethical, and if council votes [to rescind this contract we signed], we’re in trouble.”
Residents may have to wait six months longer for repairs because WT Stevens — the company owned by the wife of a former NBA player and which Worthing suspects may have a corrupt relationship with Flint politicos — is still months behind schedule on finishing the last water contract the city gave it, the low-bidding company, Goyette Mechanical, said.

THIS ISN’T ABOUT SNEAKERS, BUT ABOUT PEOPLE WHO WANT ‘NO USA AT ALL’
In just a few short years, the woke crusade against “hate” in the US has gone from demanding the removal of Confederate flags and monuments to targeting George Washington, the national anthem and now even the American flag.
Seen in isolation, the decision by Nike to scrap their sneaker design featuring the original flag of the 13 colonies that declared independence from the British crown in 1776 – reportedly at the urging of ex-football player turned social justice commissar Colin Kaepernick – seems like a tempest in a teapot. Seen from another perspective, though, it’s an alarming example of a trend that threatens to unravel the few remaining threads that keep America together.
Kaepernick’s reported reasoning was that the flag is associated with slavery – which indeed existed in the thirteen colonies at the time of their revolt against King George III, and later in what became the United States of America. By that logic, however, any American flag is inappropriate, because even though slavery was abolished in 1865, discriminatory laws persisted until 1964 – over a decade after Hawaii’s statehood brought the number of stars on the flag to 50.

Mexico murder rate reaches all-time high
Mexico saw a record number of murders in the first six months of the year, with an average 94 killings each day, according to the Mexico News Daily.
The news outlet, citing figures from the Secretariat of Security and Citizens Protection, noted that June saw the most murders of any month on record, with more than 3,000 people killed.
The violence has reached such a fever pitch that Mexico President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, who was sworn into office in December, has decided to send the National Guard to some areas, including Mexico City, a controversial move that critics say will not solve the high homicide rate and will instead lead to abuses.

White House Slams Judge Blocking Trump’s Asylum Policy – ‘No Judge Has Authority to Impose Their Open Borders Views on the Country’
The White House on Wednesday responded to US District Judge for the Western District of Washington, Marsha Pechman, a Clinton appointee who ruled on Tuesday that migrants who are detained after entering the US seeking asylum are entitled to bond hearings.
The White House called the Clinton-appointed activist an “unelected district judge” who is “at war” with the rule of law.
“No single district judge has legitimate authority to impose his or her open borders views on the country,” the statement said.
The White House on Wednesday said it will seek to limit the authority of district judges to issue national injunctions, The Hill reported.

Embattled Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler got into a Twitter feud with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) over the heinous attack on a freelance journalist by Antifa thugs at a demonstration Saturday.
Wheeler has been fighting back allegations that he told police to stand down in order to avoid confrontations with the left-wing protesters.
"At least get your facts straight. I ordered no such thing," claimed Wheeler in a response to the accusation from Cruz.
Cruz responded in a scathing tweet sent on Tuesday.
"Ok, Mr. Mayor," said Cruz. "You want [to] talk 'facts.' Great."

NYC pays $610,000 to a woman who was forced to give birth in handcuffs
The city of New York agreed to pay $610,000 to a woman whom police kept in shackles while she was in labor.
Jane Doe, as she is called in her lawsuit against the city, went into labor in a Bronx jail hours after her arrest on February 7, 2018.
She was arrested in Bronx County Family Court for violating an order of protection that was part of a child custody dispute with her former partner, her attorney Katherine Rosenfeld said.
But at 40 weeks pregnant, there was no urgent need to arrest her, Rosenfeld said.
According to the complaint, she was taken from jail to New York’s Montefiore Medical Center the next morning with metal cuffs on her wrists and heavy shackles on her feet, binding her legs together at the ankles.

Obama DHS Secretary: Dems Want ‘Open Borders’
Jeh Johnson, former DHS secretary in Barack Obama's administration, called presidential candidate Julian Castro's proposal to de-criminalize illegal border crossing essentially advocacy for "open borders."
"That is tantamount to declaring publicly that we have open borders," Johnson told the Washington Post. "That is unworkable, unwise and does not have the support of a majority of American people or the Congress, and if we had such a policy, instead of 100,000 apprehensions a month, it will be multiples of that."
Other 2020 candidates, including Sens. Eight of the more than 20 candidates have expressed explicit support for open borders. Sen. Cory Booker (D., N.J.) said he would "virtually eliminate immigration detention," if elected president.

Tommy Robinson faces jail after judges find him in contempt of court
Tommy Robinson faces jail after high court judges found him in contempt of court for filming defendants in a criminal trial and broadcasting the footage on social media.
The former English Defence League leader faces up to two years in prison for the incident in May 2018, when he filmed defendants accused of the sexual exploitation of young girls and livestreamed the footage, in breach of a reporting ban, outside Leeds crown court.
The court said on Friday that his conduct “amounted to serious interference with the administration of justice”. The sentence will be decided at a later date.
Earlier, judges heard Robinson had been reckless and breached a reporting restriction because he wanted the public to see the faces of the defendants in a criminal trial.

Wicomico Council Debates Joining Opioid Litigation
SALISBURY – Officials in Wicomico County this week said they would soon decide on taking part in legal action against opioid manufacturers.
On Tuesday, the Wicomico County Council met with executive staff to reconsider a lawsuit against pharmaceutical companies.
Last year, the council opted against joining a multi-district lawsuit against opioid manufacturers for their alleged role in the country’s opioid crisis. This week, however, the issue was back on the work session agenda for discussion.
Sheriff Mike Lewis – who supports the county entering into litigation – noted the many accidents and fatalities that occur in Wicomico County as a result of opioids.
“These are things that continue to unfold every single day in our community,” he said. “Quite honestly, I deal with these issues more than I do with anything else.”

Judge ruled teen should get leniency in rape case because he "comes from a good family"
A family court judge in New Jersey is under fire over the way he handled a rape case involving two teenagers. In 2017, Judge James Troiano ruled a then 16-year-old boy accused of raping a drunk teenage girl should have leniency because "he comes from a good family," attended an excellent school and was an "Eagle Scout." The judge also expressed concern whether the victim's family had considered the "devastating effect" a trial in adult court would have on the boy's life.
But in a scathing reversal in June, a New Jersey appeals court warned Troiano against siding with privileged teenagers.
"I find the words of this judge to be absolutely appalling," said CBS News legal analyst Rikki Klieman.
Prosecutors said the boy took cellphone video of the alleged rape in the basement at a pajama party and sent the video to friends with a text message reading "when your first time having sex was rape."

MAD magazine to end publication after 67 years of illustrated humor
Burbank, California — The long-running satirical publication MAD magazine will be leaving newsstands this fall. The illustrated humor magazine will still be available in comic shops and through mail to subscribers — but after its fall issue it will just reprint previously published material.
The only new material will come in special editions at the end of the year. DC, the division of Warner Brothers that publishes the magazine, said MAD will pull from nostalgic cartoons and parodies published over the magazine's 67-year run.
From its debut in 1952, Mad Magazine became an iconic pop cultural reference for generations of Americans, young and old alike. Its recurring illustrated features like Antonio Prohías' "Spy vs. Spy" and Dave Berg's "The Lighter Side of..." gave the magazine intellectual credibility while remaining comedic, as one played on Cold War tensions with Russia while the other looked at American culture through a sarcastic lens highlighting misunderstandings between the Silent Generation and Baby Boomers.

Boeing to pay $100M to families, communities of 737 crash victims
Airplane manufacturer Boeing on Wednesday said it will pay $100 million to families and communities impacted by two recent, deadly crashes of the company’s 737 Max planes.
The airline will donate the money to local governments and nonprofit organizations to then give to families impacted by the Lion Air Flight 610 and Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crashes.
The money may be used for education, hardship and living expenses, officials said.
Boeing will pay out the sum over several years, the company said. Recipients do not have to waive their right to take legal action over the tragedy, CNN reported.

Russian Oligarch Paid The Man Hired By Hillary Clinton To Claim Trump Colluded With Russia
The more we learn about the origins of the investigation into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to steal the 2016 election, the more Russian connections link back to Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
During an interview with The Hill’s John Solomon, Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska acknowledged that he paid Christopher Steele (who was hired through an intermediary by the Clinton campaign to compile the infamous and discredited “Steele Dossier” alleging Team Trump colluded with Russia in 2016) for a research project.
“It was a research project to support one of the cases against me in London,” Deripaska told Solomon. “But my understanding was that lawyers trust him for some reason and he was for quite a time on retainer.”

Booker 'personally accompanied' asylum seekers across the border
Presidential hopeful Cory Booker was in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, on Wednesday and traveled with asylum seekers as they crossed the U.S. southern border.
The New Jersey senator's trip to Mexico comes as the situation at the border has gained notoriety for the conditions at migrant detention centers.
"Cory observed the crossing, their interactions with federal immigration authorities, and the disastrous impact of President Trump's cruel immigration policy as the migrants attempted to avoid the so-called Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) implemented by the Trump administration," an email from his campaign said.

A Caribbean Joe's Comment Worthy Of A Post
Senator Chuck Schumer demands...
Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer called for a total decapitation of the leadership at the government’s border agency, saying Wednesday that only a full house-cleaning can set things right.
That would mean ousting acting Customs and Border Protection Director Mark Morgan — who’s only been at the post for a couple of weeks, as well as others that the New York Democrat didn’t name.
“Too much of CBP has been an out-of-control agency for too long, and it must be reined in immediately,” Mr. Schumer said.
He said Mr. Morgan was “too callous” to recent revelations that some agents belong to a secret Facebook group that shared offensive messages and questioned the motives of congressional Democrats.
He also blamed the agency for not doing more to improve conditions for illegal immigrants at the border, who have overwhelmed the system this year, sending facilities to four times their capacity and sparking near-riots of migrants being held.

Woman who licked tub of ice cream faces up to 20 years in prison
A woman in Lufkin, Texas, walked into her local Walmart, opened a container of Blue Bell, licked the ice cream and then put the container back in the freezer. Now, she faces up to 20 years in prison.
The woman can be seen in a now-viral video posted to Twitter Saturday. The person recording can be heard saying, "Lick it, lick it. Oh, you foul. Put it back, put it back."
Blue Bell put out a statement Monday that confirms the ice cream that was licked was never sold. "Our staff recognized the location in the video, and we inspected the freezer case," the statement reads. "Based on security footage, the location and the inspection of the carton, we believe we may have recovered the half gallon that was tampered with. Out of an abundance of caution, we have also removed all Tin Roof half gallons from that location."
