There was a friendly little male dog running around unattended, near the circle close to the Fruitland Walmart,  causing a few of us passerbys  to be concerned  that it was going to get hit by a car. We took it to Johnson and Mckee animal hospital on Snow HIll Road, to see if it was chipped so the could identify the owner. It wasn't so we were hoping you would post this to see if anyone comes forward to claim their dog.  They just need to contact animal hospital, and provide proof that he's theirs.

Impeachment talk at library silenced over safety concerns

Safety concerns have forced the cancellation of a lecture on impeachment at the Worcester County Library in Berlin that was originally scheduled this Wednesday.

The program, part of a series on the U.S. Constitution presented by Howard Sribnick, drew the ire of some right-wing groups on social media, apparently prompting the canceling.

Library Director Jennifer Ranck said the program was planned in response to public interest generated during a series on the constitution held last fall.

“I think the topic of impeachment came up – because it’s in the Constitution – and it was just sort of an offshoot of that program,” she said. “It was intended to be an educational event. We asked Howard to teach the [one-session] class and I think people misrepresented the intent of the program.”

House votes in favor of illegal immigrant voting

House Democrats voted Friday to defend localities that allow illegal immigrants to vote in their elections, turning back a GOP attempt to discourage the practice.

The vote marks a stunning reversal from just six months ago, when the chamber — then under GOP control — voted to decry illegal immigrant voting.

“We are prepared to open up the political process and let all of the people come in,” Rep. John Lewis, a Georgia Democrat and hero of the civil rights movement, told colleagues as he led opposition to the GOP measure.

In my school, law and order have gone the way of the slide rule.

I am a math teacher at a middle school in Flushing, Queens, and two months ago, I was helping one of my students work out an arithmetic problem when he called me a “f–kin’ asshole.” When I asked for an apology, he shoved a chair at me and stormed out.

Five minutes later, an administrator brought the student back to class. She informed me that she had called his parents and that he could return.

And what did I do? I went on teaching.

In my 20 years working for the Board of Ed, I’ve never seen such a disregard for the rules — and human decency — as I’m seeing now.

Smoke weed on campus? Grab your fellow student’s breast? Tell your teacher to f–k off? You just earned yourself an in-house suspension — also known as a hang-out-with-your-phone-in-an-empty-classroom day.

Fugitive Warrant Effort In Wicomico Co. Leads To Multi-State Operation And 41 Arrests, Nearly A Dozen Of Whom Are Gang Members

(SALISBURY, MD) – Maryland State Police, in partnership with the Salisbury Police Department, assisted in the arrest of more than three dozen people, including nearly a dozen gang members, as part of a multi-state effort to reduce the amount of active fugitive warrants in Wicomico County.

As part of “Operation Hide and Seek,” the Maryland State Police Gang Enforcement Unit, along with allied law enforcement agencies in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia, planned, coordinated and implemented a plan to locate and apprehend suspects who had open arrest warrants issued through the Salisbury Police Department.

The operation focused on gathering information and identifying criminal gang members and suspects of open criminal investigations. “Operation Hide and Seek” was conducted on Feb. 20 and yielded 41 arrests, 11 of which had ties to organized gangs and 13 of whom had out-of-state connections.

Among those arrested were:

Latissa Diggs, 45, of Salisbury, Maryland. Charged with second-degree assault and robbery

Nykeria Reaves, 19, of Salisbury, Maryland. Charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct

Gina Miller, 40, of Bishopville, Maryland. Charged with driving on a suspended license

Sinedra Purnell, 27, of Salisbury, Maryland. Charged with narcotics distribution and manufacturing opioids

Terius Green, 18, of Salisbury, Maryland. Charged with motor vehicle theft and concealing a dangerous weapon. Green is also a validated member of the LMF (Loyal Money Family) Bloods

Darryl Miles, 53, of Salisbury, Maryland. Charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance

Two juvenile males wanted on drug possession charges and a Delaware warrant for gang involvement with the Eight Trey Crips

The following law-enforcement partners assisted Maryland State Police with “Operation Hide and Seek:” Virginia State Police, Delaware State Police, Maryland Division of Corrections, Federalsburg Police Department, Cambridge Police Department, Hurlock Police Department, Fruitland Police Department, Worcester County Sheriff’s Office and the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office.

This investigation was made possible in part due to funds provided by the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention (GOCCP), which supports the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN).

Young men giving up on marriage: ‘Women aren’t women anymore’

Fewer young men in the US want to get married than ever, while the desire for marriage is rising among young women, according to the Pew Research Center.

Pew recently found that the number of women 18-34 saying that having a successful marriage is one of the most important things rose from 28 percent to 37 percent since 1997. The number of young adult men saying the same thing dropped from 35 percent to 29 percent in the same time.

Pew’s findings have caught the attention of one US writer who maintains that feminism, deeply entrenched in every segment of the culture, has created an environment in which young men find it more beneficial to simply opt out of couple-dom entirely.

Suzanne Venker’s article, “The War on Men,” which appeared on the website of Fox News in late November, has become a lodestone for feminist writers who have attacked her position that the institution of marriage is threatened, not enhanced, by the supposed gains of the feminist movement over the last 50 years.

“Where have all the good (meaning marriageable) men gone?” is a question much talked about lately in the secular media, Venker says, but her answer, backed up by statistics, is not to the liking of mainstream commentators influenced by feminism.

Be prepared for long lines at MVA due to Real ID requirements

GLEN BURNIE, Md. —Long waits at the Motor Vehicle Administration are getting even longer because of the Real ID requirements.

The Real ID Act takes effect in October 2020 and was created after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. It requires people to provide more documentation when getting their IDs.

The lines are long and patience is running thin at the Glen Burnie MVA office, especially for people waiting to renew their driver's licenses and get the Real ID.

"I got here about 11:30. Time now is 1:30. They told us it would be probably about three or four hours' wait time," said Ernie Palacios, an MVA customer.

Hogan Solicits Obama’s Help on Redistricting

Gov. Lawrence J. Hogan Jr. (R) is hoping to enlist the support of two high-profile Democrats — including former President Barack Obama — in his push to bring nonpartisan redistricting to Maryland.

With the “emergency commission” that he created last year poised to release a proposed congressional map that the state could use in 2020, Hogan is asking Obama and former U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., to throw their weight behind his efforts.

The two men are co-founders of the Washington, D.C.-based National Democratic Redistricting Committee.

The NDRC’s website claims that “Republicans have rigged our elections by gerrymandering districts all across the country. This unfair advantage is making it harder for Democrats to fight climate change, pass gun control, and ensure access to health care for everyone.”

Media Echo Michael Cohen Conspiracy: Trump Will Start Civil War if Voted Out

Since last week, the news media has been busy churning out content echoing a talking point propagated during Congressional testimony by President Trump’s disgraced and disbarred attorney Michael Cohen claiming that Trump will not allow a peaceful transition if he loses the 2020 election.

Journalists and pundits utilized Cohen’s remarks to warn about such outlandish post-election scenarios as Trump using the U.S. military to cling to power, raising a private army of mercenaries or deliberately igniting a civil war.

Cohen is a convict who pled guilty to, among other things, lying to Congress in two separate prosecutions. The prison-bound Cohen also pled guilty to violating campaign finance laws and financial crimes, including tax evasion and bank fraud.

Why Trump Might Not Appear on Some States' 2020 Ballots

Garden State voters may not be able to cast ballots for President Trump in 2020 unless he's prepared to show where he gets his green.

The New Jersey state Senate overwhelmingly passed a bill Thursday that would block presidential and vice presidential candidates from appearing on ballots in the next general election if they refuse to publicly release their tax returns.

The measure, which passed the Democratically-controlled Senate in a 23-11 vote, would prove particularly problematic for Trump, who has broken with presidential norms in refusing to publicize his returns since taking office.

The legislation now heads to an Assembly committee. If it passes the panel, it will likely be voted on by the full legislature before heading to Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy's desk.

A spokesman for Murphy declined to comment.

A similar measure passed the New Jersey legislature in 2017, but then-Gov. Chris Christie vetoed the legislation, blasting it as a "political stunt."

At least 30 other state legislatures have introduced similar legislation but the ballot restrictions have never been signed into law.

Maryland Gov. Hogan: 'Never Say Never' to Trump Challenge

Republican Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said Monday that he doesn't yet believe President Donald Trump is vulnerable in a primary, but he's still considering launching a challenge because "things could change."

In an interview with The Associated Press at a National Governors Association regional meeting in Iowa, Hogan said, "I have a real important day job. I'm not someone who would just run just to make a statement. I'd have to believe there was an actual path to victory."

Hogan, who won re-election last fall, said he had no political events planned for his two-day visit to the state but acknowledged he was fielding calls from Republican "thought leaders, donors and some elected officials" asking him to challenge Trump.

Levi Strauss CEO Goes Full Anti-Gun, Paying Employees to ‘Volunteer’ for Gun-Control Organizations

In the best attempt to date to unseat Edward Stack as the nation’s Virtue Signaler in Chief, Levi Strauss’s CEO Chip Bergh bravely announced this week his company’s support of “youth activists” working to end the “gun violence epidemic” in America and encouraged other “business leaders” to do the same.

“As business leaders with power in the public and political arenas, we simply cannot stand by silently when it comes to the issues that threaten the very fabric of the communities where we live and work,” he said in a recent op-ed published by Fortune. “While taking a stand can be unpopular with some, doing nothing is no longer an option.”

Naming his brand among the “pioneers of the American West” and the “great symbols of American freedom,” Bergh outlines three ways he’s hoping to restrict the constitutional rights of his fellow Americans.

First, he plans to establish the Safer Tomorrow Fund, which will dole out $1 million in “philanthropic grants” to “nonprofits and youth activists who are working to end gun violence in America.”

Next, Bergh and his company will join Everytown for Gun Safety’s new Business Leaders for Gun Safety coalition. Roughly paraphrasing Everytown’s website, this group is working to join banks and other businesses doing their darndest to bankrupt gun companies and marginalize gun owners.

Finally, Bergh hopes to incentivize his employees to join him in his righteous crusade. Levi Strauss will double its usual employee donation match to anti-gun organizations and pay employees for sixty working hours per year (5 hours per month) to volunteer for the same organizations.

“We’re encouraging our employees to use their time to make an impact,” he said.

Maryland House of Delegates approves bill to raise state's hourly minimum wage to $15 by 2025

The Maryland House of Delegates approved Friday a bill that would gradually increase the state's minimum wage from $10.10 per hour to $15 by 2025.

The 96-44 vote fell largely along party lines, with Democrats supporting the measure and mostly Republicans opposing it.

The vote came after about 90 minutes of debate, with supporters arguing that raising the amount would help lift low-wage workers out of poverty and opponents saying it could drive companies out of business, resulting in a loss of jobs. Some lawmakers from rural counties that border other states said the effects would be worse in their areas because jobs might be chased across the border to where wages are lower.

Pennsylvania and Virginia follow the federal minimum wage of $7.25. Delaware and West Virginia have a minimum wage of $8.75, with Delaware’s scheduled to increase to $9.25 this fall. The minimum wage in the District of Columbia is $13.25, going up to $14 this summer.

Maryland Gov. Hogan offers minimum wage compromise

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has proposed a compromise in the debate over a $15 an hour minimum wage.

In a letter to Senate President Mike Miller and House Speaker Mike Busch, Hogan pitched a plan to raise the current state minimum wage of $10.10 an hour to $12.10 an hour by 2022.

Hogan said he could support that increase under several conditions, including having a “trigger” that would make any increase above $12.10 contingent on increases in neighboring states.

Another condition would include increasing the state’s Earned Income Tax Credit to 60 percent of the federal wage.

GAO Files Suit for Document Detailing Maryland AG Brian Frosh’s Role In National Scandal

MD’S AG REFUSES TO RELEASE UNREDACTED APPLICATION TO BLOOMBERG GROUP DETAILING INTENDED POLITICAL USE OF OFFICE, CLEARLY ILLEGAL APPOINTMENT

(Washington, DC) — Today the public interest law firm Government Accountability & Oversight, P.C. (GAO) filed a Public Information Act (PIA) lawsuit against Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh. Frosh is unlawfully hiding from the public what his Office (OAG) promised to a group funded by billionaire climate activist Michael Bloomberg, if that group would provide OAG with outside resources. Specifically, GAO seeks a single document, OAG’s “application for the purpose of hiring special assistant attorneys general (SAAGs)”, submitted to a “State Impact Center” created by Bloomberg for that specific purpose and whose initial recruiting email made clear the program would support AGs to pursue a political agenda — “advancing progressive clean energy, climate change, and environmental legal positions”.

As GAO’s complaint details, Frosh applied for a SAAG, plus additional Bloomberg-funded lawyers and public relations services. He suggested the group pay the SAAG a salary “as high as $125,000” per year. Bloomberg’s group then hired an individual, Josh Segal, as a “research fellow”, stating “Your annual base salary will be $125,000” plus benefits, to “be seconded to the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Maryland (“OAG”) as a Special Assistant Attorney General”.

Less than two weeks later, Frosh wrote to Segal stating “I am hereby appointing you as Pro Bono [sic] Assistant Counsel pursuant to my authority under State Government Article 6-105(f) and determination that this appointment is necessary to carry out the duties of my office”. Article 6-105(f) indeed requires any attorney brought on board under its authority to be “pro bono” — which as the complaint points out, the Maryland Courts define, and Bloomberg’s $125k-a-year position to “be seconded to the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Maryland (“OAG”) as a Special Assistant Attorney General” most definitely is not.

The Maryland AG purported to make an appointment for which he had no legal authority, and proceeded to claim he acted under an inapplicable authority. On its face this appointment is plainly unlawful. The public deserves to see what promises this Office made for these resources.

Ocasio-Cortez And Her Chief Of Staff ‘Could Be Facing Jail Time’ If Their Control Over PAC Was Intentionally Hidden, Former FEC Commissioner Says

Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti obtained majority control of Justice Democrats PAC in December 2017, according to archived copies of the group’s website, and the two appear to retain their control of the group, according to corporate filings obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation. If the Federal Election Commission (FEC) finds that the New York Democrat’s campaign operated in affiliation with the PAC, which had raised more than $1.8 million before her June 2018 primary, it would open them up to “massive reporting violations, probably at least some illegal contribution violations exceeding the lawful limits,” former FEC commissioner Brad Smith said.

Ocasio-Cortez never disclosed to the FEC that she and Chakrabarti, who served as her campaign chair, controlled the PAC while it was simultaneously supporting her primary campaign, and former FEC commissioners say the arrangement could lead to multiple campaign finance violations. The group backed 12 Democrats during the 2018 midterms, but Ocasio-Cortez was the only one of those to win her general election.

“If the facts as alleged are true, and a candidate had control over a PAC that was working to get that candidate elected, then that candidate is potentially in very big trouble and may have engaged in multiple violations of federal campaign finance law, including receiving excessive contributions,” former Republican FEC commissioner Hans von Spakovsky told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

And fellow former FEC commissioner Brad Smith told TheDCNF that if “a complaint were filed, I would think it would trigger a serious investigation.” He also noted that such a probe could potentially result in jail time for Ocasio-Cortez and her chief of staff, Chakrabarti.

Nat'l popular vote legislation passes Delaware Senate

Legislation that would give Delaware’s electoral votes to the presidential candidate who wins the national popular vote easily passed the state Senate Thursday.

The bill adding the First State to the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact garnered 14 yes votes, with 7 Republicans voting no.

State Sen. Bryan Townsend (D-Newark) is sponsoring the bill. State Sen. Anthony Delcollo (R-Elsmere) is co-sponsoring it.

State Police Conducting Death Investigation-Laurel, DEl

Laurel- The Delaware State Police are currently conducting a death investigation after a body was found deceased on the side of the roadway.

The investigation began on March 9, 2019 at approximately 7:24 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to S. Shell Bridge Road in the area of Broad Creek Estates for a victim that was found deceased on the side of the roadway.

The victim has been turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death. The adult victim’s identity is unknown at this time.

The investigation is in it’s early stages with further information being released as it becomes available.
