As I sat in the Phoenix Veterans Affairs hospital on Dec. 21, 2012, I had no idea my life was about to change. I’d seen a nurse practitioner in 2011 and was finally consulting with a VA urologist almost a year later. I knew something was wrong, but I wasn’t prepared for the diagnosis I was about to receive.
“You’ve got one of the worst cases of prostate cancer I’ve ever seen in my life,” the urologist said to me. “Hospice will call you Monday morning.”
Those words hit me like a ton of bricks.
I was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. Had I been seen by a doctor sooner, my cancer could have been detected before it had progressed so far. Now it was too late. My cancer was so advanced the VA wouldn’t even offer me a treatment option.
I had joined the U.S. Army in 1989 as a young, ambitious kid. I honorably served my country for 18 years in the infantry and military police. When I took off the uniform, I relied on the promise I would be cared for as one who “shall have borne the battle.” But that promise was broken.
I was let down by government, the country that I served and loved. That hurt worse than my diagnosis.

Murderer Deported Last Month Recaptured in Texas
Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended a previously deported murderer who illegally re-entered the U.S. about one month following his deportation.
Agents assigned to the Laredo Sector conducted an extensive search for a suspected illegal alien who absconded from arrest on November 10. Early Sunday morning, agents found the suspect near the Interstate 35 mile marker 31 location and took him into custody. Information obtained by Breitbart News from Laredo Sector Border Patrol officials revealed that the agents determined the suspect to be a Mexican national with no legal basis to be in the U.S.
The agents transported the migrant to the station for processing and a biometric background investigation. A check of the Mexican man’s records in the U.S. revealed a June 2009 conviction in Austin, Texas, for murder.
A court in Travis County convicted the man on the murder charge and sentenced him to 11 years in a Texas prison. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers deported the man back to his home country of Mexico on October 5, 2018. Five days later, Border Patrol agents found him back in Texas.

Incitement? Prior to Antifa Attack, CNN Relentlessly Demonized Tucker Carlson
CNN was on a crusade to demonize Tucker Carlson as a racist in the days and weeks leading up to the left-wing terrorist group Antifa’s Wednesday night attack on the Fox News anchor’s home.
According to the official police report, and while Carlson’s wife was home alone, “a group of approximately 20 people” assembled “in front of her home. They had a bullhorn and were chanting loudly.” The police found “an anarchy symbol” spray painted on the driveway. “Signs were left on vehicles left in the driveway as well as a sign left on the front door.”
Prior to calling the police, Carlson’s wife of 22 years “reports she heard loud banging and pounding on her front door.”
The incident is being investigated as a politically-motivated hate crime.
The group claiming responsibility is Smash Racism DC, a part of Antifa.

Gaetz to Ask Judge to Hold Brenda Snipes in Contempt of Court
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) told Fox Business Network’s Lou Dobbs that Broward County Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes is in violation of state transparency laws.
Snipes defied a court order allowing the inspection of vote records Friday evening. Gaetz will ask a judge to hold the official in contempt of court.
Earlier Friday, a judge ordered Snipes to allow immediate inspection of voter records during an emergency hearing Friday. The court was asked to intervene in the tight U.S. Senate race between incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) and Gov. Rick Scott (R-FL) as the two sides prepare for a possible recount.
Judge Carol-Lisa Phillip said Snipes must allow inspections on or before 7:00 p.m. Friday evening. Phillips found that Snipes violated the law by failing to turn over the information to attorneys for Scott’s Senate campaign and the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
Lawyers for Snipes argued that requiring such a swift response would interfere with ongoing efforts to finish counting Broward County ballots. But lawyers for Scott contended the information is already required to be collected under state law and should take minutes to provide.

Lawyers for Gillum, Nelson Fight to Include Non-U.S. Citizens’ Votes
Lawyers for both Florida Democratic candidates Andrew Gillum and Bill Nelson fought on Friday night to allow non-United States citizens’ votes to be included in the 2018 midterm election results.
A transcript of a Palm Beach County Canvassing Board proceeding shows that the candidates’ lawyers objected to the rejection of votes cast by non-citizens, as first reported by The Daily Caller.
The Chairman of the Palm Beach Republican Party, Michael Barnett, said that the county’s canvassing board deemed a vote invalid after discovering it had been cast by a non-citizen, according to The Daily Caller.
Barnett added that the democrat candidates’ lawyers objected to disallowing the illegal vote.
Both Gillum and Nelson were reported to have conceded to their opponents after Tuesday’s election. Despite conceding, however, it appears that both Democrat candidates have been put ‘back into play,’ as President Donald Trump stated on Friday.
One of Nelson’s lawyers, Marc Elias, is also a Clinton campaign lawyer who worked for the Democrat National Committee and has ties to the infamous “dossier” regarding President Trump and Russia.

Study: Key To Weight Loss Is Stepping On Scale Every Day
What’s a sure-fire way to increase your odds of losing weight and keeping it off? Stepping on the scale — and doing it every day. A new study finds that people who weigh themselves frequently are more likely to shed unwanted pounds compared to those who only keep tabs on their weight every now and then.
Researchers from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine found that routinely monitoring body weight not only keeps goals in the front of the mind, but it allows a person to recognize the patterns that are working. That is, when a change in diet, fitness, or other lifestyle habit occurs, literally watching your weight can help you see what’s most effective.

WSJ Calls It: Hillary Will Run Again In 2020
Is this the "soft" declaration for Hillary Clinton's bid for the 2020 Democratic nomination?
In an op-ed published by the Wall Street Journal Sunday night, two staunch Clinton family allies made what is perhaps the strongest case yet that the twice-defeated Democrat is licking her wounds and preparing for another bid for the presidency in 2020: "Don’t pay much attention to the “I won’t run” declarations" the op-ed authors write: Hillary "knows both Mr. Clinton and Mr. Obama declared they weren’t running, until they ran. She may even skip Iowa and enter the race later, but rest assured that, one way or another, Hillary 4.0 is on the way."
Amusingly, the double-take-inducing headline "Hillary Will Run Again" confused more than a few people on twitter, who initially interpreted it as breaking news, and not mere speculation about the prospect for another Clinton campaign in 2020. Then again, given the authors' close ties to the Clintons - Mark Penn was a pollster and senior adviser to Bill and Hillary Clinton from 1995 to 2008 and Bill Stein is a former Democratic Manhattan borough president and president of the NYC council - it's fair to suspect that this could be an early trial balloon for a third presidential bid by the former first lady and secretary of state.

Donaldson says CNN suing White House over Jim Acosta suspension
CNN may be preparing a lawsuit against the White House for suspending reporter Jim Acosta’s “hard pass” after last week’s fiery confrontation at a presidential press conference.
Former ABC White House correspondent Sam Donaldson said Sunday that CNN has sued the Trump administration — and that he has been asked to submit an affidavit — although the cable network said no decision has been reached.
“I hope I’m not mistaken, but it’s my understanding that CNN and Acosta have sued. That there will be a court hearing on Tuesday on this very matter that we’ve been discussing,” said Mr. Donaldson on CNN’s “Reliable Sources.”
“I’ve been told that — because I’ve been asked to give an affidavit which I’ve prepared to be submitted to the court,” Mr. Donaldson said.

Democrats: 'Cruel and Unscientific' to Define Legal Sex by Biology
It is “cruel and unscientific” to define a person’s legal sex by their biology, says a pro-transgender complaint signed by 98 Democratic House legislators.
The Democrats’ statement was sent to President Donald Trump’s administration after the New York Times reported that the administration will formally clarify that the sex of people involved in sex-discrimination legal fights will be based on their male or female body.
Trump’s biology-determines-sex policy “makes it clear that members of this administration are willing to … solidify an archaic, dogmatic, and alarming view of the world,” the Democrats complain their letter to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Florida Recount Finally Wraps Up, Al Gore Declared President
FLORIDA—As Florida finally wrapped up its contentious recount of the votes tallied in the recent midterm elections, a winner was finally declared: Al Gore is now the president of the United States.
The recount process at long last found the "missing votes" that would have handed Gore the presidency back in 2000, making him the official president of the country.
"Well, it's about time," Gore said in his acceptance speech. "Thanks to all the fine people that made this happen. It really is too bad that the earth is going to be destroyed by fire by 2015--err, I mean, 2019, or else I could really savor my presidency."
Gore will be granted two terms as US president, ousting President Trump and canceling the 2020 election. "We just assume he would have won again and ushered in a liberal golden age," said an election official. "So he's got 8 years to reclaim his lost time. Make the most of it, Al, and great job. You deserve it!"

SoCal Edison Reported Circuit Malfunction Minutes Before Woolsey Fire Began
Southern California Edison disclosed to state officials that a circuit operated by the electric company malfunctioned two minutes prior to the Woolsey fire’s eruption.
California Public Utilities Commission received a report via SCE on Thursday, which it says was filed “out of an abundance of caution,” detailing the incident. The utility giant told the agency a circuit located at its Chatsworth substation “relayed” at 2:22 p.m. The system failure occurred on East Street and Alfa Road, close to where the Woosley Fire started, according to the Los Angeles Times.
“At this point, we have no indication from fire agency personnel that SCE utility facilities may have been involved in the start of the fire,” according to the report. “The investigation into the matter is ongoing.”
The company has yet to gain access to the substation where the blaze started.
“During anticipated Red Flag conditions, when circuits in the affected area detect a disturbance (relay) and become de-energized, the circuit will not automatically be re-energized,” the company said “This means an outage remains until it is safe to manually re-energize the circuit. This is not a Public Safety Power Shutoff; it is simply a safety feature to help mitigate wildfire risk.”

Soros-Tied Hillary Alumni Group Helping to Organize Volunteers for Florida Recount
Demand Justice, an organization founded by former members of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and associated with a “social welfare organization” financed by billionaire activist George Soros, is helping to organize volunteers to aid Senator Bill Nelson’s campaign with the Florida recount.
Demand Justice sent out a blast email asking for “volunteers to help out in a variety of roles in the recount process, including observing at polls, data processing, and logistics organization.”
The group advertised that it is seeking supporters who are either in Florida or who can travel there.
The email linked to a signup form on Nelson’s campaign website asking for volunteers in the following areas: Observing the counts; scheduling volunteers and staff; data processing; general logistics; and outreach.
Demand Justice, which formed earlier this year, took center stage when it helped lead opposition to President Trump’s Supreme Court pick, Brett Kavanaugh.

Gov. Jerry Brown Blames Climate Change for California Wildfires
California Gov. Jerry Brown blamed climate change Sunday for the California wildfires, despite a complete lack of evidence — a day after President Donald Trump was widely criticized for blaming poor forest management.
According to the Associated Press, Brown, described as an “evangelist” for climate change, also blamed climate change deniers for the deadly fires, saying they were responsible for the deaths of California residents.
“Managing all the forests in everywhere we can does not stop climate change,” he said. “And those who deny that are definitely contributing to the tragedies that we’re now witnessing, and will continue to witness in the coming years.”
Trump’s theory is that over-regulation has led to under-harvesting of forests, leaving more fuel for fires to burn. Brown’s theory is that the global use of fossil fuels is making California warmer and drier, and more prone to fires.

Trump Says "An Honest Vote Is No Longer Possible" In Florida
As @ForexLive pointed out, President Trump has nothing on his schedule during Monday's Veterans' Day holiday. So this morning's steady stream of divisive tweets is expected to continue.
Pivoting away from demands that Europe pay up for US military protection, Trump is refocusing on the election recount in Florida, where narrow victories by Republican gubernatorial candidate Ron DeStantis and senatorial candidate (and current governor) Rick Scott are being called into question (though the possibility of vote tampering has also emerged as crates of mystery ballots have surfaced in Broward).
Following Scott's decision to file a lawsuit demanding that law enforcement seize vote-counting machines and ballots when they're not in use, Trump, who had previously threatened to open a federal investigation into the sluggish vote-counting process in Broward and Palm Beach counties, is now demanding that the recount be abandoned because of the arrival of a large number of ballots"out of nowhere," adding that many are "missing or forged."
Because of this, "an honest vote count is no longer possible", Trump said. "Ballots massively infected. Must go with Election Night!."

There are Still 7 House Seats ‘Too Close to Call’ – All Republican – Will GOP Leaders Allow Democrats to Steal These Seats Too?
As of this morning there are still seven US House Seats that are ‘too close to call’. All of these seats were held by the GOP before the election. What are the odds the Democrats steal them all?
Ballotpedia reports this morning seven US House seats from last week’s 2018 mid-terms that are too close to call –
All of these seats have one thing in common – they are currently held by Republicans. After recent events in close races throughout the country, what are the odds that these seats stay GOP?
We know that in Florida in the Senate and Governor races, after delays and unconstitutional actions, Broward and Palm Beach Counties are still counting votes. Numerous corrupt and criminal actions have already been reported this election cycle and this is not new for these Democrat led strongholds. One Broward County employee even filled out an affidavit claiming seeing Broward County elections staff filling out blank ballots.

Kimberly Strassel: Midterm's biggest loser? Elizabeth Warren
Tuesday’s midterms served up mixed results, handing both parties big wins and big losses. It will take some time to sort out what it means. Yet the evening did nonetheless provide one total, complete, unalloyed loser: Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
For a decade Ms. Warren, 69, has been busy trying to remake Washington in her progressive image. Her role in creating a new financial regulatory apparatus gave her outsize influence over the bureaucracy. Her successful 2012 Senate bid gave her a megaphone to rail against “billionaires, bigots and Wall Street bankers”—and Donald Trump. The left begged her to challenge Hillary Clinton in 2016 and rebrand the Democratic Party as a populist, progressive force. Ms. Warren demurred, leaving the field to Bernie Sanders.
She instead carefully designed this year’s midterms as her launchpad to the presidency. Ms. Warren seeded into key races several handpicked progressive protégés, in particular Richard Cordray, former director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (who ran for Ohio governor), and a former law student, Katie Porter (who ran in a California House district). Ms. Warren geared up a shadow war room, built ties with some 150 campaigns, directed millions of fundraising dollars to select candidates, and thereby earned chits. She dispersed staffers to early primary states and crisscrossed the country herself. A week ago she was dominating Ohio headlines at rallies for Mr. Cordray. If Mr. Trump was on the ballot nationally, Ms. Warren was on it in the Buckeye State.

The Math: It's Almost Certain That Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis Have Won in Florida
Amid the violations of law by Broward and Palm Beach County elections officials, the data provides apparent good news for Republicans. First, despite the national media's typical laziness and derelictions, the local press has largely been assiduous and conscientious --certain framing aside. Second, core concerns raised by leading Republicans (some of which were rhetorically overblown) have beenvalidated by multiple judges. The ineptitude and misconduct has not gone unnoticed. Third, in spite of Democratic lawyers' best efforts, Republican leads in key races are likely insurmountable. National Review's Charles C.W. Cooke has been following this closely, and relayed his analysis over the weekend, with recounts underway:

Palm Beach County is still showing as unfinished. Given that the deadline has passed, it's unclear what this means or what the consequences will be.
Florida update. All 67 counties have now reported, and we have an unofficial vote tally. As it stands, DeSantis leads Gillum by 33,684, and Scott leads Nelson by 12,562. That will precipitate an automatic recount for DeSantis, and a manual recount for Scott. (1)

Get Cynical, Get Angry, And Stay Free
At least Mayor Daley and the rest of the Chicago corruptocrats had the common decency to do their vote-thieving behind the doors of the local mortuaries. Today, in Florida and elsewhere, the Democrats are doing it right in front of our faces. In fact, they’re rubbing it in our faces.

The only thing they care about is their own power, they absolutely intend to steal every election they can, and everything they say is a lie.

Provisional Ballot Boxes Discovered Inside AVIS Rental Car At Ft. Lauderdale Airport
Provisional ballot boxes from the Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office were reportedly discovered in the back of an AVIS rental car at Fort Lauderdale Airport on Sunday night, as first reported by investigative journalist Laura Loomer.
Attorney and Broward GOP State Committeeman Richard DeNapoli says he received a call from an AVIS employee informing him of the found ballot boxes after sheriff's deputies were initially unwilling to investigate. Approximately 20 minutes after receiving the tip, however, a heavy police presence arrived and blocked off traffic to the airport, and a bomb threat was announced.

The Media Engaged in Blatant Hypocrisy in Attacking the White House for Revoking Credential From CNN’s Jim Acosta
Remember during the campaign when Trump’s campaign manager was accused of assaulting a female reporter as he pushed through media lines to get Trump out of the room? Many in the media howled for his immediate arrest.
Funny how things change. After CNN reporter Jim Acosta forcefully blocked a White House intern doing her job of taking away his microphone after a nasty spat with the president, the media have mostly defended him. Never mind that he laid hands on a young woman without her permission — similar to what Trump’s campaign manager did to the Breitbart reporter.
Despite obvious footage showing Acosta bringing his hand down on the intern’s arm to block her from taking his microphone, CNN is standing by their man and doubling down on their attacks of the president.
This President’s ongoing attacks on the press have gone too far. They are not only dangerous, they are disturbingly un-American. While President Trump has made it clear he does not respect a free press, he has sworn obligation to protect it. A free press is vital to democracy, and we stand behind Jim Acosta and his fellow journalists everywhere.
The difference is, his fellow journalists everywhere didn't do a karate chop on a White House intern’s arm as she tried to do her job. It might seem like a minor thing, just an instinctive reaction, but it’s still unacceptable if not illegal.

Trump Or Cheney? NYT Asks "Who's The Real American Psycho?"
The NYT's Maureen Dowd appears to have had enough of the hyperbole, hyper-short-memories, and hyped up virtue-signaling from the establishment. Reflecting on Adam McKay's new movie "Vice" with Christian Bale playing Dick Cheney, Dowd gently nudges America back from the edge of the divisive Midterms to remember that much evil has come before...
Donald Trump is running wild - and running scared.
He’s such a menace that it’s tempting to cheer any vituperative critic and grab any handy truncheon. But villainizing Trump should not entail sanitizing other malefactors.
And we should acknowledge that the president is right on one point: For neocons, journalists, authors, political hacks and pundits, there is a financial incentive to demonize the president, not to mention an instant halo effect. Only Trump could get the pussy-hat crowd to fill Times Square to protest Jeff Sessions’s firing.
We make the president the devil spawn and he makes us the enemy of the people and everybody wins. Or do they? To what extent is lucrative Trump hysteria warping our discourse?
Trump may not be sweaty and swarthy, but he makes a good bad guy. As with Nixon and Watergate, the correct moral response and the lavish remunerative rewards neatly dovetail.
Even for Washington, the capital of do-overs and the soulless swamp where horrendous mistakes never prevent you from cashing in and getting another security clearance, this is a repellent spectacle. War criminals-turned-liberal heroes are festooned with book and TV contracts, podcasts and op-ed perches.

Trump Administration To Deport Journalist, SPLC Says It Could Happen Within Month
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) says a Memphis-based journalist could be deported within the month, following a failed appeal to an immigration court.
Manuel Duran, who was arrested by police in April for allegedly refusing to leave the area during a protest, was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) because of his illegal immigrant status. Duran was denied an appeal by the Board of Immigration Appeals in October following an earlier deportation order by a different immigration judge.
According to the SPLC, Duran’s deportation is “scheduled … in the coming weeks.”

Duncan Hines recalls 2.4 million boxes of cake mix for potential salmonella risk
Time to check your pantry: Four types of Duncan Hines cake mixes have been voluntarily recalled by parent company Conagra Brands over the potential risk of salmonella contamination.
During an investigation into a salmonella outbreak, the Food & Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found salmonella in a sample of Duncan Hines Classic White cake mix.
As a result, Conagra says it has voluntarily recalled about 2.4 million boxes of cake mix, including Classic White and three other varieties (Classic Butter Golden, Signature Confetti and Classic Yellow) made during the same time period out of an abundance of caution.

House Democrats to Make Gun Control a Priority for 2019
Newly ascendant Democrats are promising congressional action on gun control amid a rash of mass shootings, including a late-night assault at a California bar that killed 12 people.
Measures including expanded background checks and a ban on assault-style weapons are likely to reach the House floor when Democrats retake control after eight years of Republican rule.
"The American people deserve real action to end the daily epidemic of gun violence that is stealing the lives of our children on campuses, in places of worship and on our streets," said Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California, the Democrat leader who is running for a second stint as House speaker.
Pelosi vowed to push for a range of actions to stem gun violence, including restrictions on high-capacity magazines and a measure allowing temporary removal of guns from people deemed an imminent risk to themselves or others.

Trump: 'Infected' ballots make a fair count impossible in Florida
President Trump claimed Monday an honest vote tally in Florida's races for governor and the U.S. Senate is no longer possible because the ballots have been "infected" by voting irregularities.
"The Florida Election should be called in favor of Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis in that large numbers of new ballots showed up out of nowhere, and many ballots are missing or forged. An honest vote count is no longer possible-ballots massively infected. Must go with Election Night!" Trump wrote on Twitter Monday morning.
Republican Gov. Rick Scott, the candidate for Senate, filed several lawsuits against Broward and Palm Beach Counties Sunday that accuse officials of "willful disregard of the law." He said those counties failed to count their votes on time, and mixed in votes that should have been disqualified with legal ballots.
Both counties are in the process of recounting votes nearly a week after the election took place. Scott had a small lead over incumbent Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson as of Sunday night of just under 13,000 votes out of more than 8 million cast.
The GOP governor is asking the judge not to allow the counting of any ballots that weren't counted by Saturday, the state's legal deadline for tallying up election results. He also wants voting equipment and paper ballots to be seized by police.

Trump: Military, trade deals with Europe 'ridiculously unfair'
President Trump said Monday he told French President Emmanuel Macron and other world leaders the United States cannot continue bearing the financial burden associated with military treaties and trade agreements.
"Just returned from France where much was accomplished in my meetings with World Leaders. Never easy bringing up the fact that the U.S. must be treated fairly, which it hasn’t, on both Military and Trade. We pay for LARGE portions of other countries military protection hundreds of billions of dollars, for the great privilege of losing hundreds of billions of dollars with these same countries on trade," Trump wrote in a series of tweets Monday morning.
"I told them that this situation cannot continue - It is, and always has been, ridiculously unfair to the United States. Massive amounts of money spent on protecting other countries, and we get nothing but Trade Deficits and Losses," Trump said. "It is time that these very rich countries either pay the United States for its great military protection, or protect themselves...and Trade must be made FREE and FAIR!"

Trump Demands Florida Call Election For DeSantis, Scott
President Donald Trump demanded that the state of Florida call its election results for gubernatorial and Senate candidates Ron DeSantis and Rick Scott, respectively, as the state moves forward towards a recount.
Scott and DeSantis are locked in a heated re-election battle that is continuing well past election day in Florida. A statewide recount is underway nearly a week after the election. DeSantis and Scott maintain that there are not enough votes left to count for Democrats Andrew Gillum and Bill Nelson to make up deficits.

‘Clintons Never Stop’: Former Advisor Warns Democrats Of Hillary 2020
Clinton associate Mark Penn warned presidential hopefuls not to discount former Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s chances of running again in the 2020 contest, in a Monday appearance on “Fox & Friends.”
“Do not underestimate Hillary’s positioning to run again,” Penn declared, echoing a Sundaycolumn arguing the same in the Wall Street Journal. “Clintons never stop until they get where they want to go.”
“Get ready for Hillary Clinton 4.0. More than 30 years in the making, this new version of Mrs. Clinton, when she runs for president in 2020, will come full circle — back to the universal-health-care-promoting progressive firebrand of 1994,” Penn wrote with Democratic pollster Andrew Stein in TheWSJ.
Penn laid out in his column his belief that Clinton would not run again immediately in the 2020 election, but would feel called to the ballot when other contemporary hopefuls fail to rise to the occasion.

Here's what happens if Palm Beach County can't count its votes by Thursday
If Florida's Palm Beach County can't recount its votes in three statewide races by Thursday, Florida will likely move on to a final count without it.
All of Florida's 67 counties are re-counting their votes in the races for Senate, governor, and agriculture commissioner, and must report new totals by 3 p.m. Thursday. Palm Beach County has said it won't be able to finish by then.
“I will tell you that the secretary and the legislature and the governor have been extremely aware that with the election equipment we have, the potential of conducting all of these is impossible,” Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher told the Palm Beach Post. “We have asked the secretary if there was any consideration to extend the deadline and he said ‘no.’”

Judges Order Md.: Draw New Congressional Map for 2020
It's a good thing when wrongs are righted.
Maryland officials must draw up a new congressional redistricting plan that isn't tainted by partisan gerrymandering, a panel of federal judges ruled this week. The three-judge panel's decision, issued one day after the midterm elections, orders the state to submit the new map by March 7. Otherwise, the court will appoint a commission to produce a redistricting plan for use in the 2020 congressional election, reports The Associated Press.
Several Republican voters sued over the boundaries of one of Maryland's eight congressional districts, claiming state officials unfairly redrew it in 2011 to favor Democrats. The panel hearing the case in U.S. District Court in Maryland agreed, saying the state must redraw the 6th District's lines using "traditional criteria for redistricting," showing regard for "natural boundaries."

Nancy Pelosi Struggles to Reach 218 Speaker of the House Votes
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, the top House Democrat and the only declared Democrat candidate for speaker, is reportedly having issues securing a majority of 218 votes in the new Congress that will be seated next year. That is the requisite number of members she needs to publicly cast votes for her on the Floor if she wants to regain the speaker’s gavel in the next Congress now that Democrats have retaken the House majority.
Pelosi, who served as speaker before Democrats lost the House to Republicans in the 2010 midterm elections in former President Barack Obama’s first term, weathered the storms of her conference and stayed atop the Democrat Party in the House for eight long years as House minority leader awaiting the return of Democrats to power. Now that the Democrats have regained the majority in the House in November’s midterm elections, a new majority will be seated in early January at the end of this current Congress, and Pelosi is the only declared candidate for speaker.
But just like her immediate successor, Republican and former Speaker John Boehner found out the hard way after three years of coup attempts by conservatives, the final of which was eventually successful in mid-2015, Pelosi needs to hold together at least 218 votes from a rambunctious and very divided conference with a diversity of viewpoints on everything from whether Democrats should impeach President Donald Trump to how Democrats should handle policy on matters like taxation, immigration, trade, national security, and more.

President Trump Did NOT Miss the Armistice Day Ceremony
This past weekend, President Donald Trump was in France to mark the 100th anniversary of Veterans Day, still known in Europe as Armistice Day. On Sunday, he joined other world leaders for a solemn ceremony at Suresnes American Cemetery outside of Paris. That site is the final resting place for 1,541 Americans.
In his remarks, the president observed, “In that treacherous forest and the surrounding fields, American Marines, Soldiers, and Allied forces fought, and they fought through hell, to turn the tide of the war. We fought well together.” He concluded, “It is our duty to preserve the civilization they defended and to protect the peace they so nobly gave their lives to secure one century ago.”
But you would be hard-pressed to find coverage of that ceremony.
According to saturated “news” reports by Leftmedia outlets Sunday, Trump missed the 100th anniversary ceremony — at least that was the confusing message they delivered in mass. In fact, by Sunday night, headlines like The Hill’s “Trump criticized after White House cancels cemetery visit in France over weather” dominated the news, numbering what seemed like 100-1 over reports about the actual Veterans Day ceremony the president did attend. ABC breathlessly proclaimed, “Trump’s rain check on honoring Americans killed in WWI prompts backlash.” Of course, The Washington Post led with “Critics pile on after Trump cancels visit to U.S. military cemetery.”
This disgraceful disinformation campaign comports with a now-familiar pattern the mainstream media uses to undermine the truth, and indeed, such reports do constitute a formidable “enemy of the people.” It was a more offensive media charade than most because it politicized a lie that then overshadowed the truth about solemnly honoring WWI Veterans on Sunday. The only “backlash” about the Saturday ceremony that was missed because of weather was generated in the MSM echo chambers, where they constantly endeavor to be rainmakers.

Rather: Trump Made ‘Some Headway’ in Undercutting Press Legitimacy
WASHINGTON – Longtime CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather said that President Donald Trump has waged war on the press and argued that he’s attempting to “undermine the public’s trust in the rule of law.”
“Trump has this war on the press. It’s so vital to understand what’s happening with that war, as you say, a combined campaign to undermine the public’s trust in rule of law and the press,” Rather said while leading a discussion on former CBS and NBC correspondent Marvin Kalb’s new book, The Enemy of the People: Trump's War on the Press, the New McCarthyism, and the Threat to American Democracy.
“Now, when people say, I get it, the war is on, we’re going to change the war and how do we change it? The mind, sometimes, depending on your political point of view, goes to, oh, well, in terms of the overall votes in the last presidential election – and this has happened before recently – that the votes were not for Donald Trump but he is in because of the Electoral College,” he added.

Newt: Florida's Recount Needs to Focus on Lawbreakers
Florida's recount shows it is not a question about whether the state needs to look at better elections laws, but rather at people breaking the law, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Monday.
"In Broward County, the registrar [Brenda Snipes] happens to not realize she had brought together a group of already discounted bad ballots and put them in with a group of good ballots," Gingrich told Fox News' "Fox & Friends." "Now, she will count all the ballots. At what point do you say to yourself, this is the second time she has done this – 12 different examples where she has broken Florida law."
But Snipes, said Gingrich, is the "very same person in 2000 and now in 2018" who was behind voting scandals, and Gingrich does not understand why some attorneys do not step in and file a lawsuit.
There is presently no proof of fraud, he acknowledged, but that is because "she won't let anybody in to look at ballots."

One Death Linked to Ongoing Turkey Salmonella Outbreak
Federal health officials on Thursday reported the first death in an ongoing salmonella outbreak linked to raw turkey.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the death was in California but didn't have any immediate details. Since last November, the agency said 164 people have fallen ill in 35 states, with the most recent case being reported on Oct. 20.
No products have been recalled, and the agency hasn't recommended that people avoid turkey. But it said it believes the outbreak is widespread and ongoing, and it reminded people to properly cook and handle turkey with Thanksgiving approaching.
"We are still seeing new illnesses being reported on a weekly basis," said Colin Basler, an epidemiologist with the CDC.
Basler noted there is a lag time between when a person gets sick and when the illness gets reported to health officials. The California Department of Public Health did not immediately respond to an email seeking additional details about the death.
A single supplier hasn't been identified in connection with the outbreak. The rare salmonella strain was identified in live turkeys, as well as in ground turkey, turkey patties and raw turkey pet food.

Dozens of rockets fired from Gaza landed in Israeli cities through the day Monday, causing fires and at least one casualty, according to the Israeli Defense Forces. Hamas has taken responsibility for the attacks, which constitute a war crime.
Videos from the IDF showed the torrent of rockets above Israeli airspace. Iron Dome, part of Israel's surface-to-air response system, can be seen engaging the incoming barrage. Over one hundred rockets had been fired into Israel by Monday evening local time.
Hamas announced it was launching the strikes in conjunction with Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other terror organizations.

The White House is circulating a draft report by the US Commerce Department about whether to impose Section 232 tariffs on automobile imports. The report, which is the latest sign that Trump's investigation into auto tariffs is moving forward, should offer an update on the status of the probe.

The Prevalence of Myth Over History
Today (Nov. 9) I heard a black historian on NPR say that the “civil war” was fought in order to establish a framework for human rights.
He also said that black civil rights achieved by the war were overturned by the rollback of Reconstruction, put back in place by the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and was now being overturned again by Trump’s response to the caravan from Honduras.
As best as I could tell, this was an Identity Politics explanation of history with all of its contradictions and factual errors.
Identity Politics is based on the accusation that the white male is a racist and a misogynist. This is inconsistent with the belief that Washington, totally in the hands of white males, chose to fight a bloody civil war in order to bring human rights to black slaves. If white males are this idealistic and willing to make such a sacrifice for blacks, how is it that the white males are racists?
The black historian can’t have it both ways.

California Wildfires Set For $25 Billion In Damages As Death Toll Hits 31; Suspected Looters Arrested
Update: PG&E and Edison International stock prices are crashing as analysts warn that the potential wildfire costs could soar...
Goldman Sachs analyst Michael Lapides expects incremental investor concern for PG&E and Edison as the fires continue to grow, pointing out that California’s wildfire legislation that passed in late August (SB901) doesn’t contain provisions regarding wildfire recovery for potential 2018 fires.

Some 149,000 Californians are effectively homeless after fleeing from the Camp, Woolsey and Hill fires, which have afflicted Butte County, as well as Ventura and LA counties and destroyed more than 6,700 homes and buildings, with thousands more expected to burn. And as the death toll hits 31, putting this round of wildfires on track to become the deadliest in the state's history as more than 200 people remain missing, a picture of the total damages that have been wrought by the fires is beginning to emerge. According to Bloomberg, the state, insurers and homeowners could be on the hook for a combined $19 billion in damages.
