Hillary Clinton was once the face of the Democratic Party, a celebrity name who could draw thousands to rallies and was the all-but-certain first female president of the United States. Now, she is viewed as "the kiss of death" for candidates.
As the midterm election campaigns enter the home stretch, the former secretary of state, first lady, senator, and 2016 Democratic nominee is almost completely absent from the campaign trail. Most Democrats are keen to keep it that way, fearing that her reappearance could cost them a golden opportunity of winning back control of Congress.
Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, are due to go back on the road next month, embarking on a 13-city tour in which they will conduct “one-of-a-kind conversations" about "the most impactful moments in modern history". But Democratic strategists are relieved that their first event will be 12 days after Americans go to the polls on Nov 6.

Navy Mom's Tweet Makes #HimToo Mockery Go Viral
The mom of Navy veteran Pieter Hanson took to Twitter on Saturday, making #HimToo trend, but perhaps not for reasons she might have imagined.
"This is MY son. He graduated #1 in boot camp. He was awarded the USO award. He was #1 in A school. He is a gentleman who respects women. He won't go on solo dates due to the current climate of false sexual accusations by radical feminists with an axe to grind. I VOTE. #HimToo," the tweet read.
She posted the now-deleted tweet on the day Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court, after a confirmation process that featured accusations of sexual misconduct. Twitter's response was rife with mockery, spawning a variety of "This is MY son" memes. And her sons had plenty to say, too.
Pieter Hanson, the son featured posing in his Navy uniform in the tweet, created an account in the early hours of Tuesday morning called @thatwasmymom. The first post?
"That was my Mom. Sometimes the people we love do things that hurt us without realizing it. Let's turn this around. I respect and #BelieveWomen. I never have and never will support #HimToo. I'm a proud Navy vet, Cat Dad and Ally. Also, Twitter, your meme game is on point," he tweeted.

Retirees, Disabled Vets Get Biggest Raise in 7 Years for 2019
Military retirees, those who receive disability or other benefits from theDepartment of Veterans Affairs, federal retirees, and social security recipients will see a 2.8 percent pay raise in their monthly checks in 2019.
It is the biggest Cost Of Living Allowance (COLA) increase in seven years, equaling as much as $369 a month for those at the top of the retirement paycharts.
Each year military retirement pay, Survivor Benefit Plan Annuities, VA Compensation and Pensions, and Social Security benefits are adjusted for the rate of inflation.
Retirement Pay Increase
Thanks to the increase, the average military retirement check for an E-7 with 20 years of service will go up by $67 a month, while an O-5 with the same time in uniform will see a $126 monthly increase.
Retirees who entered military service on or after Aug. 1, 1986 and opted in for the Career Status Bonus (CSB/Redux retirement plan), have any COLA increases reduced by 1 percent, so they will see a 2019 increase of 1.8 percent or $42 monthly for an E-7 with 20 years of service, or $81 each month for an O-5 with 20 years of service.

Bolton Warns Chinese Military to Halt Dangerous Naval Encounters
White House National Security Adviser John Bolton bluntly warned China this week that the U.S. military will not ignore threatening naval actions near U.S. warships in international waters.
Doubling down on the Trump administration's tough policies toward China, Bolton also renewed criticism of Beijing for meddling in U.S. elections and stealing American technology.
Commenting on the harassment of the guided missile destroyer USS Decatur by Chinese warship that nearly caused a collision in the South China Sea recently, Bolton said the threatening maneuver was unacceptable.
Navy commanders have rules of engagement that allow them to defend their ships, he said.
"The commanders have the authority we need," Bolton said in an interview with radio commentator Hugh Hewitt.
"We will not tolerate threats to American service members. We're determined to keep international sea lanes open. This is something the Chinese need to understand. Their behavior has been unnecessarily provocative for far too long."

Smartphones and Young People: Three Troubling Impacts
Smartphones clearly have much to offer us today.
They allow nearly instant communication with just about anybody.
They’ve got a convenient camera installed — so we don’t need to sling a separate gadget over our shoulders ever again.
And smartphones offer a plethora of helpful apps, various forms of entertainment, and a world’s worth of information at a moment’s notice.
But there’s plenty of evidence out there that there are other issues to beware of — here are a few that parents, families, and all of us, no matter who we are or where we are in our lives, must know.
1.) Depression and anxiety. Since 2013, there’s been a 33 percent increase in depression diagnoses.
The diagnoses for teens aged 12-17, along with millennials, are even more shocking, with an increase of 63 percent and 47 percent respectively.
The instant and unwavering social media access provided by smartphones all but forces people, especially teens and young adults, to compare themselves constantly to others. Instagram, in particular, has become a popularity contest, as users stress over the quality of their postings in pursuit of likes and followers.
Many new studies are showing that adolescents are increasingly experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety. This apparent sudden increase came in 2012, eerily enough, right about the time smartphones shot up in popularity.

Menendez Blames Trump for Not Filling Diplomatic Posts, Then Blocks Them
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo turned the tables on Sen. Bob Menendez (D., N.J.) this week, blaming the New Jersey Democrat for blocking at least a dozen qualified candidates for key diplomatic posts.
Over the last year, Menendez has repeatedly blasted President Trump for jeopardizing U.S. foreign policy by failing to nominate candidates for key foreign policy posts.
Menendez, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, took the administration to task in a Senate floor speech in March for failing "to nominate critical high-level positions—undersecretaries, assistant secretaries—leaving a void of empowered voices."
Menendez continued the same line of criticism this week. While reacting to U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley's resignation, the New Jersey Democrat argued that the administration's "inability to adequately or appropriately fill key national security positions puts our nation at risk."
The statement angered Pompeo, who tangled with Menendez during his own Senate confirmation process and several times since...

Breaking News: Report: Saudi Arabia will admit to killing journalist Jamal Khashoggi
Saudi Arabia is prepared to admit that journalist Jamal Khashoggi was killed during an interrogation that went wrong, according to reports on Monday.
The kingdom is readying a report that will say Khashoggi’s death happened during an interrogation before being removed from Turkey, CNN reported.
The report will conclude that the operation was carried out “without clearance” and that those involved will be held responsible, the network said, but cautioned that it could still change.
The Wall Street Journal also reported that Khashoggi was killed during a botched interrogation.
Separately, the New York Times reported that Saudi Arabian officials were developing a scenario that would shield Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman from any involvement.
It said that version would accuse a friend of the prince for carrying out the killing.

Drones swamp US-Mexico border but federal agents powerless to stop them
The Department of Homeland Security and the FBI identified this week unmanned aerial systems, or drones, as one of the greatest national security threats to America — rating it as severe a concern as cybersecurity hacks, critical infrastructure attacks, and terrorism.
While drones are often thought of as techie toys, officials are becoming increasingly worried about the threat they pose and are warning it's only a matter of time until the devices are used to drop a bomb or fentanyl powder on people in a populated area. Drones are already used by transnational criminal syndicates and drug cartels. The technology is readily available to terrorist groups.
Incidents that have gained public attention in recent years have largely involved inexperienced fliers losing control of the aircraft, but the military and law enforcement officers are already dealing with cases of drones being used for illicit purposes.

House GOP leader announces get-tough immigration bill
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy announced Friday a new get-tough immigration bill that would build the rest of President Trump’s border wall, punish sanctuary cities and stiffen penalties on repeat-illegal immigrants.
The bill is unlikely to see action in the near future but instead serves as a marker for House Republicans as they prepare for what’s likely to be a renewed immigration debate in December or, should Democrats win control of the House, early next year.
“Maintaining strong borders is one of the basic responsibilities of any nation. For too long, America has failed in this responsibility,” Mr. McCarthy said in announcing the bill.

Italy's Salvini Deports Islamist Wanting to Kill ‘White Tourists,’ ‘Christians’
The Italian government has announced the deportation of three African migrants suspected of close ties with Islamist terrorist groups, including one who had expressed the desire to kill “white tourists” and “Christians”.
The Ministry of the Interior led by Matteo Salvini released a statement on Friday with a brief description of the three men, adding that they had been identified as linked to “Islamic extremism”, were judged to be “a danger for national security”, and therefore “repatriated.”
The first was a 22-year-old Moroccan man with “numerous precedents” for common crimes, drunkenness, and disorderly behaviour. In October 2017, the man had threatened passers-by outside the synagogue in Florence brandishing a kitchen knife and shouting “Allah Akbar” (God is Greatest).

Looter Shot Dead While Trying to Steal Police Car in Panama City
A looter trying to steal a police car was shot and killed by a Florida State Fire Marshall in Panama City.
WPMI quotes witness Landon Swett, who said the suspect told him he was looting then “opened the door to the police officer’s SUV with the lights going, got in it and shut the door.”
Swett moved his family away from the scene to keep them safe and looked back to see that an official was sitting in the passenger side of the SUV. Swett said, “Then…I heard the shot.”

Stacey Abrams: ‘Blue Wave’ Is ‘Comprised of Those Who Are Documented and Undocumented’
Georgia’s Democrat gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams said Tuesday the Democrats’ "blue wave" in November would be comprised of those who are "documented and undocumented."
Abrams was speaking with supporters at the Clayton County campaign office during an event with Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.). She touted the diversity of the coming "blue wave" that she thinks will sweep Democrats into office nationwide.
"The thing of it is, the blue wave is African American. It is white. It is Latino. It is Asian-Pacific Islander," she said, going through a diverse list of groups.
"It is made up of those who've been told that they are not worthy of being here. It is comprised of those who are documented and undocumented," she said.
The Washington Free Beacon emailed Abrams’ campaign to ask what role undocumented immigrants will play in the midterms if they are not legal voters.

IDF: We thwarted mass breach of the security fence
Israeli Defense Forces Major Ben Halel, who serves as Deputy Commander of the 101st Paratrooper Battalion, described the attack thwarted on Friday in central Gaza.
"In the Battalion area of responsibility in front of the riots in Bureij, a number of assailants hurled explosive devices at the security fence and breached a hole in the security fence," Halel explained. "From that moment, Battalion troops and additional forces, including Special Unit troops, operated in order to prevent a mass crossing of the security fence and fired warning shots towards the assailants."
"Most of the rioters returned to Gaza as a result of the live fire.
"During their retreat to the Gaza Strip, a report from field intelligence was received informing that one of the assailants had remained in Israeli territory, right under our location. An IDF soldier positioned near the location identified an assailant who approached him with a knife.

US Pastor Freed from Turkey Prays with Trump in Oval Office
Freed American pastor Andrew Brunson fell to one knee in the Oval Office and placed his hand on President Donald Trump's shoulder in prayer on Saturday, asking God to provide the president "supernatural wisdom to accomplish all the plans you have for this country and for him."
Trump welcomed Brunson to the White House to celebrate his release from nearly two years of confinement in Turkey, which had sparked a diplomatic row with a key ally and outcry from U.S. evangelical groups.
Brunson returned to the U.S. aboard a military jet shortly before meeting the president. He was detained in October 2016, formally arrested that December and placed under house arrest on July 25 for health reasons.
"From a Turkish prison to the White House in 24 hours, that's not bad," Trump said.

Resisting the Fraud of the Progressive Narrative
It's high time to reject the clichéd analysis of how women think and vote.
During the hearings on the nomination of Justice Kavanaugh, the Democrats’ vile tactics and lust for power were widely exposed. Though Kavanaugh’s confirmation thwarted the Dems aggression, that victory should be the catalyst for a wholesale rejection of the leftist and identity politics narratives that too many Republicans accept and even practice. The first step to recovering our political health is to purge our public discourse of the illiberal and ideologically loaded ideas, and the language that assumes they are the moral norm.
During the hearings we saw Republicans ceding legitimacy to feminist ideology the minute Christine Ford appeared. The circumstances of her charges being made public at that particular moment were suspect enough to sow doubt about her claims and the propriety of giving her a public forum. It was suspiciously convenient that Ford’s charges regarding an event 36 years ago were made public six years after she revealed them to a therapist, that Dianne Feinstein sat on them for six weeks, and that they were leaked at the moment Kavanaugh’s confirmation appeared certain.
What was it Goldfinger said about chance events? Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, the third time is enemy action. If the Democrats were on the up-and-up, they would have had Ford, allegedly anxious about protecting her privacy, give testimony to the committee in camera. Even a dull Occam’s Razor could detect the self-serving, partisan machinations behind Ford’s testimony.
But the Republicans reflexively went into a defensive crouch to avoid charges of sexism and insensitivity to the alleged epidemic of sexual assault, now redefined to include a decades-old encounter the details of which were all a blur except for the perpetrator’s name, which happened to be that of the nominee to the Supreme Court whom Democrats had already publicly rejected and sworn to derail.

Family of Pakistani Christian Mother Sentenced to Death for Blasphemy Prays for Deliverance
The family of Asia Bibi, a Christian mother who faces execution for blasphemy in Pakistan, said they hoped the Supreme Court would free her.
But in any case they feared for their future living in Pakistan under the blasphemy laws, they told AFP.
Bibi, who has been on death row since 2010, is at the centre of the high-profile case that has divided Pakistan and drawn prayers from the Vatican.
On Monday the Supreme Court heard her last appeal and said it had reached a judgement, which it has yet to reveal.
“We are hopeful that whatever the court proceedings are it will come out as positive for us,” her husband Ashiq Mesih told AFP.
Bibi, a labourer, was accused of blasphemy against the Prophet Mohammed in 2009 by Muslim women she was working with in a field.
The charge is punishable by death under legislation that rights groups say is routinely abused to settle personal vendettas.

McConnell Makes Senate Confirm 15 More Judges Before Going Home
The Senate approved a package of President Donald Trump’s judicial nominees Thursday, notching another 15 confirmations just days after Justice Brett Kavanaugh was installed on the U.S. Supreme Court.
The confirmations came as half a dozen Democrat lawmakers, particularly those in red states, were pressed to return home to defend their Senate seats for the final stretch before the November midterm elections.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., seized on the opportunity and made Democrats an offer: The Senate would adjourn until after the midterm elections, provided Democrats don’t force the full 30 hours of debate allowed for each nominee.
Democrat leaders were left at an impasse: They could keep their caucus in the Capitol to oppose the nominees—effectively ceding the campaign trail to Republican challengers—or confirm Trump’s judges briskly and risk alienating their supporters.

Hundreds of Hondurans head for US border in mass migration 'march': report
Hundreds of Honduran migrants are headed for the United States border, just days after Vice President Pence sat down with the Central American country’s leader, urging him to take a tougher stance on mass migrations.
At least 1,300 people, including young children, left San Pedro Sula in northern Honduras on Saturday, in what some are calling the “March of the Migrant,” Reuters reported.
Bartolo Fuentes, the organizer, told the news agency that the group plans to march through Guatemala and into Mexico. From there, participants will request refugee status, which would allow them to stay in the country, or they will apply for a visa to pass through into the U.S.

Eric Holder & Michelle Obama: Democratic Party Needs Real Leaders Again
In a better time, we would be talking not about Eric Holder but about real Democratic leaders.
‘When they go low” . . . that’s where they are sure to find Eric Holder.
Sometimes, the former attorney general is excusing hard-Left, unrepentant, anti-American FALN separatists by helping a Democratic president spring them from imprisonment for their terrorist crimes.
Sometimes, he is helping a Democratic president commute the sentences of hard-Left terroristswhose only regret was their failure to shoot it out against police who interrupted another bombing spree in their war against the United States.
Sometimes, he is volunteering his legal services and his status as a former top Justice Department official to file a “friend of the court” brief on behalf of the al Qaeda jihadist who was apprehended while plotting a second wave of 9/11 mass-murder attacks.
Sometimes, he is defying congressional committees investigating his Justice Department’s reckless, politically driven “gun-walking” scheme gone awry — the Fast and Furious “investigation” that armed murderous Mexican drug gangs and got a border-patrol officer killed.

General Kelly reveals the truth about Elizabeth Warren: She's uncouth in private
Democratic presidential frontrunner hopeful Sen. Elizabeth Warren always prides herself on being the candidate of the little guy. In her old-fashioned granny suits with her old-fashioned glasses, she speaks in a soft, syrupy voice and calls herself a consumer advocate. Naturally, there's not a left-wing cause on Earth the Massachusetts Democrat won't support, and of course, as a professional fake Indian with affirmative action professorships under her belt, an incongruous house-flipping history, an Imelda-sized wardrobe, and a big bankbook, she knows how to play the games, academic or otherwise.
But she always portrays herself as nice. She doesn't have that hectoring, cackling, manic, revolting voice you hear from Hillary Clinton. Nope, Warren's always soft, soothing, and smooth.
But then we hear how she acts in private.
According to a report in BuzzFeed News, obtained through a Freedom of Information Act query, she's actually a nightmare to deal with.
President Trump's chief of staff, John Kelly, in his previous capacity as secretary of homeland security, has a thing or two to say about her in his email correspondence with colleagues:

According to a report in BuzzFeed News, obtained through a Freedom of Information Act query, she's actually a nightmare to deal with.
President Trump's chief of staff, John Kelly, in his previous capacity as secretary of homeland security, has a thing or two to say about her in his email correspondence with colleagues:

Court orders Keith Ellison divorce records unsealed
A county court has ordered Rep. Keith Ellison’s divorce records to be unsealed, allowing more scrutiny into the Democrat’s private life as he fights off the abuse allegations upending his campaign for Minnesota attorney general.
Hennepin County Family Court referee Jason Hutchison released an order Friday saying the records of Mr. Ellison’s 2012 split with ex-wife Kim Ellison will be unsealed Oct. 17, ruling that “open access is the presumption in Minnesota.”
Kim Ellison, who is also an elected official as a member of the Minneapolis school board, has said there was no abuse during their 20-year marriage. Mr. Ellison plans to appeal the decision, according to his attorney.
“Keith and Kim Ellison remain jointly opposed to this effort to exploit the details of their personal life, and the lives of their children, for political gain,” Ellison attorney Carla Kjellberg said in a statement to media outlets.
The Minnesota Star Tribune and AlphaNews sued to have the records unsealed in the aftermath of abuse allegations made in August by Karen Monahan, Mr. Ellison’s ex-girlfriend, who said that he dragged her from a bed by her foot screaming obscenities.
Mr. Ellison has staunchly denied the Monahan allegations, as well as a previous claim by another woman, Amy Alexander, who said he pushed her and broke her screen door in 2005.

CNN Poll: Biden Leads Field of 2020 Democratic Hopefuls
Former Vice President Joe Biden is leading the field of prospective 2020 Democratic candidates, according to a recent poll from CNN.
The CNN/SSRS poll, which surveyed 1,009 adults between October 4 and 7, found that one-third—or 33 percent—of Democrats and independents who leaned Democratic thought Biden would be the most likely to take on President Trump in the 2020 presidential election.

Ben Jealous Stance on BDS Depends on Who’s Asking
Navigating the issue of the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement has proved challenging for Democrat Ben Jealous in his Maryland run for governor.
Jealous is running to unseat Gov. Larry Hogan (R., Md.), a popular incumbent who last year signed an executive order banning the state from doing business with companies that join the movement to boycott Israel.
Jealous, who as an activist traveled in circles with anti-Israel radicals such as Linda Sarsour, was asked about Hogan's anti-BDS executive order by a Baltimore-based Jewish publication and said he would keep it in place if elected.
"I have found that success is never built by trying to punish one side of a conflict," Jealous told JMORE during a September interview. "That is why I believe the BDS movement is counterproductive and simply another hindrance to peace."
"I would not rescind Maryland's anti-BDS executive order, so long as the executive order withstands any court challenges," he said.
Jealous failed to come out against BDS, however, during a meeting with Muslim voters last weekend when he was asked whether he would rescind Hogan's executive order.

Portland mayor stands by decision to allow Antifa to block traffic, hassle motorists
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler came under fire over a viral video showing Antifa protesters blocking traffic and harassing drivers, but he says he supports the decision by police to watch from a distance without getting involved.
“I was appalled by what I saw in the video, but I support the Portland Police Bureau’s decision not to intervene,” he said at a Friday press conference. “This whole incident will be investigated.”
The video posted by journalist Andy C. Ngo showed protesters, including members of Antifa and Black Lives Matter, blocking an intersection and attempting to direct traffic at while officers on motorcycle watched from a block away.
At one point, the activists chased down 74-year-old Kent Houser after he made a right turn against their wishes, pounding on his silver Lexus and breaking a window. The car sustained thousands of dollars in damage, he told the Oregonian.
Even so, Mr. Wheeler insisted that “motorists should feel completely safe coming into downtown Portland.”

Trump hits message of Democrats as “angry mob” at Kentucky rally
“You can vote for Democrat mob rule or you an vote for a Republican party that stands proudly for law and order, fairness, freedom and justice.”
President Trump hit Democrats as an “angry mob” while heaping praise on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell while at a rally Saturday night in McConnell’s home state of Kentucky. Mr. Trump’s rally is in support of Republican Rep. Andy Barr, who is facing a tough re-election battle against Democrat Amy McGrath.
Mr. Trump categorized voting in the midterm elections as “you can vote for Democrat mob rule or you an vote for a Republican party that stands proudly for law and order, fairness, freedom and justice.”
In the last few weeks of the 2018 midterm campaign, Mr. Trump and Republicans have seized on describing Democrats as the party of an “angry mob.” Mr. Trump used similar language in rallies earlier this week.
Mr. Trump described McConnell as “staring down an angry left-wing mob” during the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings. McConnell, Mr. Trump said, “never blinked, never looked back and got us a man who will be one of our great, great Supreme Court justices.”
35 Times Men Were Falsely Accused Of Sexual Assault
In recent weeks, left-wing activists have been pushing a “Believe All Women” narrative. This narrative not only ignores due process, but also reality. Sexual assaults do happen, but so do false accusations. Pointing out false accusations does not take away from supporting sexual assault survivors, because false accusations devalue actual incidents of sexual assaults.
All women should be heard, but not all women should be believed. Some women are more credible than others, and that is a fact. Below are 35 examples of men who were falsely accused. These are cases where either the accuser was charged with a crime or the facts of the case overwhelmingly point to it being false and the accuser has not been named. This list doesn’t even come close to the total number of false accusations that have been made.
Women still should be encouraged to report their assaults and seek justice.
1. Jackie Coakley - Coakley infamously told Rolling Stone that she had been gang-raped by fraternity members at the University of Virginia. In reality, no such gang-rape occurred, and Coakley invented a rapist and used a fake text messaging service to convince her friends he existed in order to make one of them jealous. The accusation was a black mark for the magazine and led to three settlements with those defamed by Coakley’s accusation.

Revealed: Secret Service Foiled ISIS Assassination Attempt On President Trump
Just one year into his term, President Donald Trump was the target of a credible assassination plot attributed to ISIS — but the U.S. Secret Service managed to foil the attempt, according to a report that will air on National Geographic channel on Sunday.
According to Anthony Ornato, the Special Agent in Charge of the Presidential Protective Division, chatter led his agents to believe that a credible threat was present on the ground when President Trump was scheduled to touch down in Manila, Philippines, for the ASEAN 50 summit in November 2017.

President Trump freed me from prison – I’m glad he wants to give other nonviolent offenders their freedom
On June 6, I walked out of prison as a free woman after serving almost 22 years of my life sentence on a first-time nonviolent drug conviction, thanks to a decision by President Trump to commute my sentence to time served. I was thrilled to hear the president say this week that he is looking to give early release to additional nonviolent prisoners like me.
"Alice Johnson is such a great person, such a great case,” President Trump told reporters Tuesday. “I'd like to find a lot of people like Alice Johnson. And there are a lot of people that are in a situation like that. And we are actively looking for those situations."
And President Trump added, still talking about me: “I've been watching her a lot and what a great spokesman she is for that situation. And that's covering a lot of people. There are a lot of people like that, that will unfortunately be locked up for many, many years, and there's no reason for it."
I want to thank President Trump for those kind words, for freeing me from prison, and now for considering freeing many others like me.
The day I was released from prison was the greatest day of my life – and hearing the president say he wants to free additional nonviolent prisoners was another great day.
My release was a miracle that gave me a chance to start life over again. I would love to see other deserving prisoners experience the same miracle.
Many other nonviolent offenders in federal prisons today are – like me – no danger to society, and I look forward to having President Trump and members of his administration examine their cases.
I can never thank the president enough. He heard my voice, gave life to my hope and promise to my future. I am a 63-year-old grandmother who just wants to live in peace and enjoy my family. There is zero chance I will ever break the law again.

“Believe Women”? UC Santa Barbara Case Demonstrates Why We Should Believe Evidence
There is no substitute for evidence and due process.
Through much of the last month, the American people have been treated to a version of the emotional and ideological argument that’s dominated the American academy for much of the last ten years. The argument goes something like this: Women rarely lie about rape. Thus, the failure of criminal or civil justice systems to achieve overwhelming rates of conviction or impose liability at the rates of predation means that fundamental reform is mandatory.
Consequently, we must make it easier for women to bring claims, protect them from the rigors of proving claims, and utilize decision-makers trained to understand and respond to the unique trauma of victims. Moreover, when considering sexual-assault claims outside of courts, understand that due process is less important when a man’s liberty isn’t at stake. After all, a campus court isn’t a criminal trial. It’s an evaluation of academic suitability.
The result of this argument has been wholesale national reform — part of it mandated by the Obama administration’s Department of Education, and part of it willingly undertaken by colleges themselves — that has caused universities to lower burdens of proof, channel serious claims into summary proceedings, restrict the ability to cross-examine witnesses, and even limit access to evidence in an effort to streamline the process of punishing sex offenders.
It’s been a disaster.
From coast to coast, accused students — typically men punished for sexual assault with barely a chance to defend themselves — are filing lawsuits containing often-shocking claims. Judges, accustomed to the value of due process, often find themselves stunned at the unfairness of campus proceedings. And if you think that wrongful convictions for sexual assault aren’t serious because the men don’t go to prison, well then talk to the young men whose careers and reputations are shattered before they’ve had a chance to build a life.

Illinois Democrat Candidate Under Fire for Freeing Child Sex Abuser
Democrat Brendan Kelly is running for Congress in Illinois’ 12th Congressional District, but now, only weeks before Election Day, his work as a state’s attorney is coming back to haunt him after opponents began hitting him for freeing a child sex abuser in a plea deal while he was in the prosecutor’s office.
Kelly is already well known for time and again making plea deals that allowed a variety of criminals to get off on lesser charges, but the latest deal he is taking heat for is his 2017 agreement with suspect Todd Bramblett, a man who was charged with three felonies over accusations that he sexually touched two young girls.
The plea deal with Bramblett was highlighted in new TV spot featuring Nick Gailius, the chief of police of Fairview Heights, Illinois. In the ad, Gailius says that police on the beat all knew that Kelly was soft on crime.

Troopers Charge Delmar Man with Vehicular Assault – Millsboro
Millsboro – The Delaware State Police have charged James N. Cannon, 38, of Delmar with multiple counts of vehicular assault stemming from a DUI related crash in Millsboro on Saturday afternoon.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:10 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the intersection of Mt. Joy Rd. and Townsend Rd., Millsboro. Cannon was the driver of a 2009 GMC Sierra pickup truck that was stopped at a stop sign on Townsend Rd., at the intersection with Mt. Joy Rd. A 2007 Toyota Highlander operated by a 34 year old Milford man was traveling southbound on Mt. Joy Rd,, proceeding through the intersection with Townsend Rd., with the right of way. Cannon failed to remain stopped and pulled out directly in to the path of the Toyota at which time the two vehicles collided in the intersection where they came to rest.
The driver of the Toyota along with a 6 year old and 18 month old passenger were transported to Beebe Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 4 year old passenger in the Toyota was transported to AI DuPont Hospital for Children with serious injuries.
Cannon and a 34 year old female passenger in his vehicle were also treated at Beebe Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. A second passenger in his vehicle was not injured.
Further investigation determined that alcohol impairment was a contributing factor on Cannon’s behalf and after discharge from the hospital he was transported to Troop 4 where he was formally charged with the following:
- Vehicular Assault 1st Degree
- Vehicular Assault 2nd Degree (4 counts)
- DUI Alcohol
- Fail to Remain Stopped at a Stop Sign
- Driving Suspended
Cannon was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #3 and then committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $8600.00 secured bail.
Democrat T.J. Cox Is Running in California -- But Has 'Principal Residence' in Maryland
Democrat T.J. Cox is running against incumbent Rep. David Valadao (R-CA) in California’s 21st congressional district, in a race Democrats say they need to win. There is one small problem: he has a “principal residence” across the country, in Maryland.
The local Fresno Bee did the digging, and discovered that Cox’s “principal residence” is officially in Bethesda, Maryland:
TJ Cox, the Fresno Democrat running for Congress against Hanford Republican David Valadao, owns a home in Bethesda, Maryland, that the state says is his principal residence.
Montgomery County property records show Terrance John Cox has paid about half of his annual property taxes on a three-bedroom, four-bathroom, Cape Cod-style home valued at $968,100 in the Washington, D.C., suburb. He bought the house for just over $1 million in 2016 and it has been claimed as his principal residence on state property tax records in each year since.
The Cox campaign told the Bee that it was Maryland’s decision, not Cox’s, to list that home as his “principal residence,” adding: “TJ Cox proudly lives, works and raises his family here in the Central Valley, and has for the past 20 years.”

The deadline to register to vote in Maryland is Tuesday
Whether you’re a first-time voter, a new Maryland resident or maybe just a devotee of Taylor Swift’s Instagram account, the deadline to register to vote in Maryland’s November midterm elections is Tuesday, Oct. 16.
(Though Marylanders can also register to vote — and vote that same day — during early voting.)
So how does one go about registering?
To qualify to register in Maryland, one must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of the state and at least 16 years old, though the legal age to cast a vote is 18.
Maryland registrants can not be convicted of buying or selling votes, be under guardianship for a mental disability and found by a court to be unable to communicate a desire to vote, or be serving a court-ordered sentence for a felony conviction. (Voting rights were granted in 2016 for Maryland residents with felony charges who have completed prison sentences.)
Residents should also be prepared to provide a driver’s license, state identification or learner’s permit number or, in some cases, the last four digits of a social security number.
Those with a Maryland driver’s license, learner’s permit or state identification can register to vote online at the Maryland State Board of Elections website.

Rabbi Dov Fischer: Everyone Is Smart, Except Trump
Rabbi Dov Fischer, an attorney and adjunct professor of law, is a Senior Rabbinic Fellow at the Coalition for Jewish Values, congregational rabbi of Young Israel of Orange County, California, and holds prominent leadership roles in several national rabbinic and other Jewish organizations. He has been Chief Articles Editor of UCLA Law Review, clerked for the Hon. Danny J. Boggs in the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and served for most of the past decade on the Executive Committee of the Rabbinical Council of America. His writings have appeared in the Weekly Standard, National Review, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Jerusalem Post, American Thinker, Frontpage Magazine, and Israel National News.
Everyone Is Smart, Except Trump
It really is quite simple. Everyone is smart except Donald J. Trump. That’s why they all are billionaires and all got elected President. Only Trump does not know what he is doing. Only Trump does not know how to negotiate with Vladimir Putin. Anderson Cooper knows how to stand up to Putin. The whole crowd at MSNBC does. All the journalists do.
They could not stand up to Matt Lauer at NBC. They could not stand up to Charlie Rose at CBS. They could not stand up to Mark Halperin at NBC Nor up to Leon Wieseltier at the New Republic, nor Jann Wenner at Rolling Stone, nor Michael Oreskes at NPR, at the New York Times, or at the Associated Press. But — oh, wow! — can they ever stand up to Putin! Only Trump is incapable of negotiating with the Russian tyrant.
Remember the four years when Anderson Cooper was President of the United States? And before that — when the entire Washington Post editorial staff jointly were elected to be President? Remember? Neither do I
The Seedier Media never have negotiated life and death, not corporate life and death, and not human life and death. They think they know how to negotiate, but they do not know how. They go to a college, are told by peers that they are smart, get some good grades, proceed to a graduate degree in journalism, and get hired as analysts. Now they are experts, ready to take on Putin and the Iranian Ayatollahs at age 30.
That is not the road to expertise in tough dealing. The alternate road is that, along the way, maybe you get forced into some street fights. Sometimes the other guy wins, and sometimes you beat the intestines out of him. Then you deal with grown-ups as you mature, and you learn that people can be nasty, often after they smile and speak softly. You get cheated a few times, played. And you learn. Maybe you become an attorney litigating multi-million-dollar case matters. Say what you will about attorneys, but those years — not the years in law school, not the years drafting legal memoranda, but the years of meeting face-to-face and confronting opposing counsel — those years can teach a great deal. They can teach how to transition from sweet, gentle, diplomatic negotiating to tough negotiating. At some point, with enough tough-nosed experience, you figure out Trump’s “The Art of the Deal” yourself.
Trump’s voters get him because not only is he we, but we are he. We were not snowflaked-for-life by effete professors who themselves never had negotiated tough life-or-death serious deals. Instead we live in the real world, and we know how that works. Not based on social science theories, not based on “conceptual negotiating models.” But based on the people we have met over life and always will hate. That worst boss we ever had. The coworker who tried to sabotage us. We know the sons of bums whom we survived, the dastardly types who are out there, and we learned from those experiences how to deal with them. We won’t have John Kerry soothe us by having James Taylor sing “You’ve Got a Friend” carols.
The Bushes got us into all kinds of messes. The first one killed the economic miracle that Reagan had fashioned. The second one screwed up the Middle East, where Iraq and Iran beautifully were engaged in killing each other for years, and he got us mired into the middle of the muddle. Clinton was too busy with Monica Lewinsky to protect us from Osama bin Laden when we had him in our sights. Hillary gave us Benghazi and more. And Obama and Kerry gave us the Iran Deal, ISIS run amok, America in retreat. All to the daily praise of a media who now attack Trump every minute of every day.
So let us understand a few things:
Negotiating with NATO

The LA times has one good reporter!
Dianne Feinstein: " All vets are mentally ill in some way and government should prevent them from owning firearms."
Yep, - she really said it on Thursday in a meeting in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee...
And the quote below from the LA Times is priceless.
Sometimes even the L.A. Times gets it right.
Quote of the Day from the Los Angeles Times:
"Frankly, I don't know what it is about California, but we seem to have a strange urge to elect really obnoxious women to high office. I'm not bragging, you understand, but no other state, including Maine, even comes close. When it comes to sending left-wing dingbats to Washington, we're Number One. There's no getting around the fact that the last time anyone saw the likes of Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, Maxine Waters, Kamala Harris, and Nancy Pelosi, they were stirring a cauldron when the curtain went up on ' Macbeth '. The five of them are like jackasses who happen to possess the gift of blab You don't know if you should condemn them for their stupidity or simply marvel at their ability to form words."
