Trump Orders NYTimes To Reveal Op-Ed Source For "National Security" Purposes

A clearly fuming President Trump has escalated his fight with The New York Times following tonight's anonymous White-House-insider op-ed.

Trump begins by questioning whether a source actually exists: "Does the so-called “Senior Administration Official” really exist, or is it just the Failing New York Times with another phony source?"

And then comes over the top by playing the "Nation Security" threat card, demanding they hand over the source: "If the GUTLESS anonymous person does indeed exist, the Times must, for National Security purposes, turn him/her over to government at once!"

Does the so-called “Senior Administration Official” really exist, or is it just the Failing New York Times with another phony source? If the GUTLESS anonymous person does indeed exist, the Times must, for National Security purposes, turn him/her over to government at once!

As Canada Looks At Handgun Ban, Police Union Head Says It Won't Work

Gun grabbers love the idea of banning guns. Even if they’re not (currently) talking about a total gun ban, they still want to ban certain firearms. Right now, so-called “assault weapons” are their preferred target, at least in this country.

In the Great White North, however, handguns are the target. Right now, progressive anti-gun activists and politicians are focused on ridding their country of handguns. Who cares how vital they might be for personal defense, right? Some person might do something bad, so we’re going to limit the rights of everyone else because of that one possibility.

However, not everyone in Canada thinks this move will be the miracle cure.

Voluntary Human Extinction Movement Gathers Steam

Self-loathing is one of the symptoms of being a leftist. Specifically, a self-loathing that causes one to wish for the extinction of the human race. Case in point: the voluntary human extinction movement (VHEMT), an organization that, true to its name, calls for humans to voluntarily work toward our eventual extinction.

Most leftists don't come out and say that they long for the day when humanity will be wiped off the face of the earth. Many of their policies, however, reveal that longing: abortion, same-sex marriage, and economic policies that will cause society to revert back to the time when humans struggled to survive, to name just three. At least VHEMT has the intellectual honesty to be up front about their objective. Well, intellectually honest up to a point. The organization isn't calling for its members to get the ball rolling and off themselves. Instead, VHEMT wants humans to pledge to stop having babies.

CA Priest Removed From Parish After Sermon About Sex Abuse Scandal

A young priest was expelled from his California parish last week after he gave a heartfelt sermon on the sexual abuse scandal currently rocking the Catholic Church.

In a statement on his Facebook page, Father Juan Carlos Gavancho said that he was given a laundry list of mostly petty reasons for his dismissal but believed the real reason was his homily.

Gavancho, who was the assistant pastor at Our Lady of Sorrows in Santa Barbara, preached a powerful and resolute homily about standing up for the faith in the face of the evil infecting the church on August 26, one d

Study Finds Gun Owners More Politically Active

One of the things I’ve been saying for a while now is that the big difference between the two sides in the gun debate is a matter of focus. Those who support the Second Amendment tend to make that issue more of a touchstone issue, a gauge to see whether a candidate shares their ideals or not, while gun control supporters may well not prioritize gun control as an issue when choosing a candidate.

Meanwhile, gun control advocates like to point out that the National Rifle Association’s membership includes only a fraction of gun owners. They believe that this is somehow evidence that gun owners don’t share the organization’s ideals.

Well, a new study seems to suggest that one of us is right.

Democrats' Ugly Anti-Kavanaugh Protests Are Undemocratic

The funniest part of the Brett Kavanaugh hearing so far is a left-wing protester shouting over U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont) while he was making a procedural objection over the supposed inadequacy of documents the Senate Judiciary Committee has received concerning the U.S. Supreme Court nominee.

The young woman yelling about “LGBT rights” apparently saw an elderly bald bespectacled white man and assumed he was her enemy instead of her ally.

Leahy, 78, momentarily stammers during his comments (see this CNN video at 8:46), almost as if someone had missed a cue.

Insurgent bids to unseat Tom Carper: 'We absolutely are fighting for the soul of the Democrat Party'

As outbreaks of antiestablishment activism roil the Democratic Party nationwide, a veteran Delaware political leader who’s never been beaten faces a primary election challenge from an insurgent who’s never run for office.

Kerri Evelyn Harris, whose resume includes loading giant Air Force cargo planes, frying chicken at a convenience store chain and working as an auto body mechanic, is seeking in Thursday’s Democratic primary to unseat three-term incumbent U.S. Sen. Tom Carper, one of the most successful politicians in Delaware history.

“We absolutely are fighting for the soul of the Democrat Party,” said Harris.

Carper, undefeated since 1976 when he was first elected state treasurer, is taking it in stride.

“It’s not like I’ve never been primaried before,” said Carper, who served five terms in the U.S. House and two as governor before being elected to the Senate in 2000.

Carper has a huge fundraising advantage, having raised more than $1.3 million this year as of mid-August, compared to a little more than $120,000 by Harris. He has far outspent her.

Harris is among a wave of young activist Democrats, emboldened by the 2016 presidential campaign of U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont.

The Kingmaker: Trump Reveals How He Picks Who To Endorse

President Donald Trump touted his success in endorsing candidates throughout the 2018 primary elections and revealed how he picks who to endorse, in an exclusive Oval Office interview with The Daily Caller.

“It’s very much my gut instinct coupled with a lot of talented people that I have that know where these people have come from over the last two years,” Trump said of how he picks who to endorse, adding, “sometimes I’ll have a nasty Never-Trumper and every once in a while it’s recoverable but generally speaking if somebody is that much opposed … Now if somebody is opposed that’s one thing, if they’re that much opposed to a tune of coming up with the Never-Trumper type stigma it’s rare that I’ll get involved.”

Trump’s influence has been heavily felt throughout primary races across the U.S. with the ability to turn a race on its head with a single presidential tweet. He noted repeatedly that his record of endorsement wins in recent months is 48-1 and discounted the Wyoming race in which he picked a losing candidate.

“I was asked to do that, by my son Don, and I did it, but I did it, I was asked the morning of. And by the time I did it I guess 70%, almost 70% of the vote was already cast,” Trump said.

US Strategy In Syria: "Create Quagmires Until We Get What We Want"

In 2013, top Obama Administration officials described their policy in the Syrian War as one of keeping the war going. The administration wanted a big seat at the table for a political settlement, which officials clarified meant ensuring that the war kept going so that there was never a clear victor.

The Trump Administration seems to be slipping into that same destructive set of priorities in Syria. The Washington Post this week quoted an unnamed Administration official as saying that “right now, our job is to help create quagmires [for Russia and the Syrian regime] until we get what we want.”

As ever, what the US really wants is to have a dominant position in post-war negotiations, so they can dictate the form that post-war Syria takes. This means ensuring that the Syrian government doesn’t win the war outright.

Out-Of-Warranty Tesla Owners Left With No Choice But To Fix Their Own Cars

Due to a lack of reputable mechanics, widespread service centers and aftermarket parts, some out of warranty Tesla owners are left with no choice but to try and fix their cars themselves. Such was the case of Model S owner Greg Furstenwerth, a self described "Tesla fan". CNBC detailedhis journey through repairing his own out of warranty Tesla when the company "treated him like [he] didn't own a Tesla" after his warranty ran out.

Furstenwerth was one of the first Model S owners, pre-ordering in 2013. He was even one of the first in the state of Hawaii to own a Tesla. Like some fans of the company have done after buying their Teslas, he even undertook a cross-country journey to prove that the world did not need gas powered vehicles and that there was nothing to be anxious about regarding the vehicle's range capabilities.

"Those were the golden years", according to Furstenwerth. While the Model S was under warranty, he shared his experience in dealing with Tesla service, which was positive. The interactions with the company were plentiful.

CLAP BACK: Trump Issues Four-Word Reply To Critics At McCain Funeral

In another ugly twist, everything turned political again at a high-profile funeral.

On Saturday, a memorial service was held at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., to remember Sen. John McCain, who passed away last week at age 81. The service was lovely and appropriate for a war hero turned legislator who devoted much of his life to public service.

But there were inappropriate moments, as well. Meghan McCain, daughter of the late Arizona Republican, took to the podium and ripped President Trump — without naming him, of course. Trump and McCain had clashed many times so she thought him fair game, even at a funeral.

Human Rights Alert: Woman Files Discrimination Complaint For Right To Work Braless

A Canadian woman has filed a human rights complaint claiming her previous employer, the Osoyoos Golf Club, discriminated against her with a requirement that all female staff wear a bra, reports the CBC.

"It's gender-based and that's why it's a human rights issue," she said. "I have nipples and so do the men."

However, some braless women feel discomfort when managers mandate they must wear one in the workplace — a rule that could be deemed discriminatory, because it only applies to one gender.

"It's unnecessary," said Kate Gosek who works as a cook at McDonald's in Selkirk, Man. The 19-year-old says several managers recently harassed her about not wearing a bra, including one who prodded her shoulder in search of one.

"She just told me that I should put on a bra because, McDonald's — we are a polite restaurant and no one needs to see that." -CBC

The American Dream Is Getting Smaller, And The Reason Why Is Painfully Obvious...

Over the past decade, an unprecedented stock market boom has created thousands upon thousands of new millionaires, and yet the middle class in America has continued to shrink.

How is that even possible?

At one time the United States had the largest and most vibrant middle class in the history of the planet, but now the gap between the wealthy and the poor is the largest that it has been since the 1920s. Our economy has been creating lots of new millionaires, but at the exact same time we have seen homelessness spiral out of control in our major cities.

Today, being part of the middle class is like playing a really bizarre game of musical chairs. Each month when the music stops playing, those of us still in the middle class desperately hope that we are not among the ones that slip out of the middle class and into poverty. Well over 100 million Americans receive money or benefits from the federal government each month, and that includes approximately 40 percent of all families with children. We are losing our ability to take care of ourselves, and that has frightening implications for the future of our society.

One of the primary reasons why our system doesn’t work for everyone is because virtually everything has been financialized. In other words, from the cradle to the grave the entire system has been designed to get you into debt so that the fruits of your labor can be funneled to the top of the pyramid and make somebody else wealthier. The following comes from an excellent Marketwatch article entitled “The American Dream is getting smaller”

More worrying, perhaps: 33% of those surveyed said they think that dream is disappearing. Why? They have too much debt. “Americans believe financial security is at the core of the American Dream, but it is alarming that so many think it is beyond their reach,” said Mike Fanning, head of MassMutual U.S.

Almost everyone that will read this article will have debt. In America today, we are trained to go into debt for just about everything.

Donald Trump: Democrats Want to 'Raid Medicare to Pay for Socialism'

Donald Trump criticized Democratic Socialists on Thursday for promising leftist dreams of universal health care through Medicare.

“They want to raid Medicare to pay for socialism,” Trump said during his rally in Indiana, as the crowd booed.

Democrats like Sen. Bernie Sanders and his endorsed candidates Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Andrew Gillum have joined the fight for universal health care through Medicaid, and the idea polls well in their campaigns.

Trump warned that socialism would hurt the economy, citing the political and economic disaster caused by socialist policies.

3 Ways You're Wrong in a Disagreement (Even if You're Right)

Kathryn Schulz, the illuminating author of Being Wrong: Adventures in the Margin of Error, gave an excellent talk at TED talk on being wrong.

There is a moment in her talk when she summarizes what we do when someone disagrees with us that is worth pondering.

… The first thing we usually do when someone disagrees with us is that we just assume they are ignorant. You know, they don’t have access to the same information we do and when we generously share that information with them, they are going to see the light and come on over to our team.

When that doesn’t work. When it turns out those people have all the same information and they still don’t agree with us we move onto a second assumption. They’re idiots. They have all the right pieces of the puzzle and they are too moronic to put them together.

And when that doesn’t work. When it turns out that people have all the same facts that we do and they are pretty smart we move onto a third assumption. They know the truth and they are deliberately distorting it for their own malevolent purposes.

So this is a catastrophe: our attachment to our own rightness. It prevents us from preventing mistakes when we need to and causes us to treat each other terribly.

And this is what it’s like to come face to face with someone that disagrees with us.

Virgil: The McCain Funeral Marked the End of an Era for the Globalist War Party

Perhaps the most revealing moment in the week-long media extravaganza over John McCain’s death came on September 1, when Meghan McCain, daughter of the late senator, chose to use her “eulogy” to rip into Donald Trump.

Here’s how The Washington Post set the scene:

Trump was absent and his name never invoked, but the entire service was animated by a sustained rebellion against the president’s worldview and his singular brand of politics.

“We gather here to mourn the passing of American greatness,” she said, gritting her teeth through the tears. “The real thing, not cheap rhetoric from men who will never come near the sacrifice he gave so willingly, nor the opportunistic appropriation of those who lived lives of comfort and privilege while he suffered and served.”

Okay, we get it: Ms. McCain hates Trump so much that she has to grit her teethwhen she talks about him. Trump and his supporters already knew that, of course. And as an aside, we might note that the good news is that in making her hatred so evident, Ms. McCain surely kiboshed any chance that Arizona Governor Doug Ducey would appoint her to fill her father’s senate seat, as some—even some who bill themselves as conservative—have suggested.

Burt Reynolds, Star of ‘Deliverance,’ ‘Smokey and the Bandit,’ Dies at 82

Burt Reynolds, one of Hollywood’s most popular leading men during the ’70s and early ’80s via such films as “Deliverance,” “Smokey and the Bandit, “The Longest Yard” and “Semi-Tough,” has died. His rep confirmed that he died Thursday in Jupiter, Fla. He was 82.

He later earned an Oscar nomination as best supporting actor in Paul Thomas Anderson’s ode to skin flicks, “Boogie Nights.” He had been set to appear in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Hollywood.”

Reynolds’ appeal lay in his post-modern macho posture undercut by a wry self-awareness, which he used to good effect in comedies as well as action films. For a period during the ’70s he was the nation’s top box office draw. But after one too many bad movies, his popularity waned. He returned to television, where he’d gotten his start, mostly in Westerns, and produced his own sitcom, “Evening Shade,” which brought him an Emmy.

Bank Says South African Farmers Will Have to Pay Debts for Property Seized by State

South African farmers subjected to land expropriation without compensation will still have to pay off their debts for property which has been seized by the state, according to a major bank.

In an email from Nedbank widely circulated on social media, now confirmed as genuine by Head of Group Media Relations Kedibonea Molopyane, according to The South African, farmers are warned that their debts will have to be paid in full even after their property is confiscated by the government.

It reads as follows:

“It is important to note the Home Loan agreement is subject to a contractual agreement, and bond payments remain due and payable until such time that the bond is paid in full irrespective of any form of land expropriation – with or without compensation. We would encourage you to continue with the bond payments until such time a determination is made.”

Michael Cohen's lawyer Lanny Davis accepts blame for CNN report

Michael Cohen’s lawyer, Lanny Davis, took the fall Sunday for a CNN story that suggested President Trump had advance knowledge of the Trump Tower meeting with Russians to get dirt on Hillary Clinton.

“I thought it was important not to blame CNN, not to blame anyone other than myself,” Davis said on Fox News’ “Media Buzz.” “I even wrote a book about taking responsibility.”

Davis admitted he was a source for a triple-bylined July CNN story that said Cohen was present with Trump when the then-candidate learned about the Russians’ offer to help his campaign and gave the OK for the meeting.

The article cited “sources with knowledge.” Davis said he suspected Trump might have known of the meeting in advance and had hoped the veteran CNN journalists, including Watergate reporter Carl Bernstein, would dig into the story. His hunch wasn’t meant to be taken as fact, he said.

11 Rage-Inducing Facts About America's Wildly Out-Of-Control Student Loan Debt Bubble

Higher education has become one of the biggest money-making scams in America...

We tell all of our young people that if they want to have a bright future, they must go to college. This message is relentlessly pounded into their heads for their first 18 years, and so by the time high school graduation rolls around for many of them it would be unthinkable to do anything else. And instead of doing a cost/benefit analysis on various schools, we tell our young people to go to the best college that they can possibly get into and to not worry about what it will cost. We assure them that a great job will be there after they graduate and that great job will allow them to easily pay off any student loans that they have accumulated. Of course most college graduates don’t end up getting great jobs, but many of them do end up being financially crippled for decades by student loan debt.

In all of American history, we have never seen anything quite like this student loan debt bubble. Since 2007, the total amount of student loan debt in America has nearly tripled.

Let me repeat that again.

Since 2007, the total amount of student loan debt in America has nearly tripled.

But of course the quality of college education has not tripled over that time. Instead, it has progressively gotten worse. At this pointmost college courses have been so “dumbed down” that the family pet could pass them. If you would like to look into this more, you can find a list of 37 of the most idiotic college courses in America right here.

These days, most college courses do not require any actual writing. Instead, your performance is judged by a series of “tests” consisting of multiple choice, fill in the blank, and true/false questions. And the questions are usually ridiculously easy, because most of our high school graduates need to take remedial courses in basic skills when they get to college.

I spent eight years at public universities, and the quality of education that I received was a joke, and that was many years ago. Now the quality of education has deteriorated so dramatically that most college degrees are essentially worthless from a practical standpoint, but for many professions you still need that “piece of paper” in order to “qualify” for certain jobs.

So the scam continues, and thousands upon thousands of “administrators”, “diversity specialists”, “career counselors” and “college presidents” are taking home massively bloated salaries at our expense. Beautiful new lecture halls, residential complexes and sports stadiums are going up at colleges and universities all over the country, and textbook publishers are laughing all the way to the bank.

If everything but the basics was stripped away, the cost of actually delivering a college education to students would be quite low. In fact, most learning could be done over the Internet.

But instead, the “college education industry” has convinced all of us that we desperately need their services, and that we shouldn’t care about the price.

Now We Know: ‘The Resistance’ is the Establishment

McCain funeral further exposes true political axis

So now we know what ‘the resistance’ really is.

It’s the establishment. It’s the old political order. It’s that late 20th-century political set, those out-of-touch managerial elites, who still cannot believe the electorate rejected them.

That is the take-home message of the bizarre political spectacle that was the burial of John McCain, where this neocon in life has been transformed into a resistance leader in death: that while the anti-Trump movement might doll itself up as rebellious, and even borrow its name from those who resisted fascism in Europe in the mid 20th-century, in truth it is primarily about restoring the apparently cool, expert-driven rule of the old elites over what is viewed as the chaos of the populist Trump / Brexit era.

Outrage After Feinstein Apologizes to Kavanaugh for Hearing Disruptions

Democrat Sen. Dianne Feinstein (Calif.) provoked outrage from progressive activists on Wednesday after apologizing to Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh for the number of protests and disruptions that have taken place during his confirmation hearing.

During her opening statement to the Senate Judiciary Committee, Feinstein issued an apology to Kavanaugh for the level of vitriol exhibited by those opposing confirmation. The hearing, which began on Tuesday, has faced continuous disruptions from both lawmakers on the dais and protesters in the audience.

"I'm sorry for the circumstances but we'll get through it," the senator said.

Brian Fallon, who served as the national press secretary for Hillary Clinton's failed 2016 presidential campaign, summed the pervading displeasure amongst progressives when he took to social media to denounce Feinstein's apology as "ridiculous."

How much backlash will there be to the 8 days of McCainapalooza?

I don’t know about you, but when the video coverage of the death of Senator John McCain began a week ago Saturday, I reached satiation well before the live coverage concluded with his burial at the United States Naval Academy. Yes, he was a brave war hero that endured years of brutal captivity in North Vietnam, and all of us honor that. But as a politician, his main legislative legacy is a failed campaign finance act, one of those bipartisan feel-good efforts that backfired and made things worse.

So, how is it that his passing and a week’s worth of scheduled events merited wall-to-wall coverage? President Kennedy’s assassination required two days of live coverage for the death and funeral. I am hopeful that the Media Research Center will tabulate the total hours of coverage and compare it to the live coverage of events around the death of President Ronald Reagan. My impression is that McCain received more hours.

Or, compare the passing of Admiral James Stockdale to that of John McCain. Admiral Stockdale was a POW in Hanoi for over 7 years, a year-and-a-half longer than McCain. Like McCain, he was a very special prisoner in the eyes of the North Vietnamese, for he was the senior officer among the POWs. His prominent status was based on his achievements and consequent promotion, whereas McCain was regarded as important because of who his father and grandfather were.

Like John McCain, Admiral Stockdale ran an unsuccessful campaign on a national presidential ticket – as Ross Perot’s running mate. Unlike McCain, Admiral Stockdale was a Medal of Honor recipient.

Potentially 39 Million Cases of Identity Theft by Illegal Aliens in Last Four Years

There have been potentially 39 million cases in the last four years in which Americans have had their identities and Social Security Numbers stolen by illegal aliens, a new investigation reveals.

During an interview with SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart News Tonight, executive director of the Immigration Reform Law Insitute (IRLI) Dale Wilcox revealed to Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Rebecca Mansour that their latest investigation revealed 39 million cases between 2012 and 2016 where names on W-2 tax forms did not match corresponding Social Security records.

If each fraudulent Social Security Number user submitted only one W-2 form a year under a fake identity, this still amounts to nearly ten million individuals using stolen identities of American citizens. There are more than 12 million illegal aliens currently living in the United States.

Wilcox said American children are the most vulnerable to illegal aliens stealing their identities and using their Social Security Numbers to work in the country.

“Studies have found that it affects children the most because see illegal aliens prefer to use children’s’ Social Security Numbers because your child … won’t apply for a loan for years, so the illegal aliens probably won’t be caught for decades possibly,” Wilcox said.

Fact-Checking 4 of Critics' Claims About Brett Kavanaugh

Despite Legalization, Racial Disparities in Cannabis Arrests Remain

A new study out of the Drug Policy Alliance shows that in spite of legalization, racial disparities remain in cannabis arrests.

One of the things I always thought would change with cannabis legalization was racial disparities in cannabis arrests. Minorities, in particular black people have always been arrested at higher rates for cannabis possession than white people. A lot of legalization advocates, myself included had hoped that this would change as cannabis legalization began to spread across the country and public opinion began shifting towards cannabis use. Unfortunately, this is not the case, as black people are still being arrested at higher rates than white people for the same crime.

Data from the pro legalization Drug Policy Alliance shows that while arrests are down overall, black people are still the ones bearing most of the brunt when it comes to cannabis enforcement, as Vox reports.

Just how bad is the disparity in arrests? According to Vox, “In [Alaska], white and black arrest rates fell by nearly 99 percent and more than 93 percent, respectively, between 2012 and 2016. But black people were arrested for marijuana at a rate of 17.7 per 100,000 in 2016, while white people were arrested at a rate of 1.8 per 100,000 — about 10 times less.” That is still an alarming rate.

Breaking: Jerome Corsi Subpoenaed By Deep State Master Mueller

Russia witch hunt trying to distract from Clinton crimes

Bestselling author and investigative journalist Jerome Corsi has been subpoenaed by FBI Special Counsel Robert Mueller, and will be compelled to testify to the probe’s grand jury on Friday.
“He fully intends to comply with the subpoena,” Corsi’s lawyer David Gray told The New York Times Wednesday, adding that the subpoena didn’t specify the topic of inquiry but that he and his client anticipated “it has to do with his communications with Roger Stone.”

The Special Counsel’s witch hunt was never meant to uncover real Russia collusion, which has already been well-documented with the Hillary Clinton campaign.

Rather, the probe is meant to distract and obfuscate the fact that the American people decisively elected Donald Trump as president, and to hide the crimes committed by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Obama administration.

Ron Paul: Why Can't The United States Just Leave Syria Alone?

Assad was supposed to be gone already. President Obama thought it would be just another “regime change” operation and perhaps Assad would end up like Saddam Hussein or Yanukovych. Or maybe even Gaddafi. But he was supposed to be gone. The US spent billions to get rid of him and even provided weapons and training to the kinds of radicals that attacked the United States on 9/11.

But with the help of his allies, Assad has nearly defeated this foreign-sponsored insurgency.

The US fought him every step of the way. Each time the Syrian military approached another occupied city or province, Washington and its obedient allies issued the usual warnings that Assad was not liberating territory but was actually seeking to kill more of his own people.

Remember Aleppo, where the US claimed Assad was planning mass slaughter once he regained control? As usual the neocons and the media were completely wrong. Even the UN has admitted that with Aleppo back in the hands of the Syrian government hundreds of thousands of Syrians have actually moved back. We are supposed to believe they willingly returned so that Assad could kill them?

The truth is Aleppo is being rebuilt. Christians celebrated Easter there this spring for the first time in years. There has been no slaughter once al-Qaeda and ISIS’ hold was broken. Believe me, if there was a slaughter we would have heard about it in the media!

So now, with the Syrian military and its allies prepare to liberate the final Syrian province of Idlib, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo again warns the Syrian government against re-taking its own territory. He Tweeted on Friday that:

“The three million Syrians, who have already been forced out of their homes and are now in Idlib, will suffer from this aggression. Not good. The world is watching.”

Father speaks out after model daughter's alleged killer is arrested

The distraught father of a former Playboy playmate who was found strangled to death in her upmarket Philly condo last week has spoken out, a day after a former convict was arrested and charged in her murder.

Jonathan Wesley Harris, 30, of Johnstown, was taken into custody Wednesday in Pittsburgh as he stepped off a bus, the Lower Merion Police Department and the Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office said.

Harris was charged with first, second and third-degree murder along with robbery, theft and related offenses in the August 22 slaying of Christina Kraft, 36, in the west side suburb of Ardmore.

Law enforcement officials said Harris was just released July 15 from the State Correctional Institution-Greene on recent convictions for drugs and robbery.

Kraft's father, Stuart Kraft, told the Philadelphia Inquirer on Thursday after his arrest: 'We are going to get justice... big deal that he's in prison; he's comfortable there.'

Man accused of grabbing ‘MAGA’ cap, throwing drink in teen’s face indicted

A Bexar County grand jury has indicted a 30-year-old San Antonio man who was arrested in July after he was captured on video grabbing a “Make America Great Again” cap from a teenager who was dining at a San Antonio Whataburger.

Bexar County court records show Kino Jimenez was indicted Wednesday on a charge of theft of person, which is a state jail felony. He was located in Universal City in July by San Antonio police robbery task force detectives, who took him into custody on an arrest warrant.

The story made national news after a video went viral on the Internet. In it, 16-year-old Hunter Richard is shown eating with friends around 2 a.m. at a North Side Whataburger at Nacogdoches and Thousand Oaks. The video begins halfway through an altercation that captured a man suspected of being Jimenez throwing a drink in Richard’s face and walking out of the restaurant with a red “Make America Great Again” cap in his hand that Richard later said belonged to him.

Video of the encounter went viral on social media and racked up millions of views and thousands of comments.

Bill Clinton Caught Ogling Ariana Grande During Aretha Franklin Funeral

Ex-prez appeared delighted during singer’s performance.

Former President Bill Clinton appeared mesmerized by vocalist Ariana Grande’s rear end as she took the stage to honor soul singer Aretha Franklin Friday.

Clinton, 72, was filmed during the funeral ceremony ogling Grande as she performed the Franklin song, “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” leading many online to point out the perverted behavior.

“Gross,” one Twitter user said. “Watch Bill Clinton look Ariana Grande up and down when she sings at #ArethaFranklinFuneral and try not to throw up in your mouth.”

Cynthia Nixon on getting single-payer health care in New York: 'Pass it and then figure out how to fund it'

In her quest to become New York’s next governor, Cynthia Nixon has advocated for a single-payer health care system in the state – something studies have shown would be a costly endeavor.

The proposed New York Health Act (NYHA), which would establish universal health care for everyone in the state, including undocumented immigrants, would require the state’s tax revenue to increase by about 156 percent by 2022, according to a study by the RAND Corp. But it also found state spending on total health care under NYHA would be slightly lower – about 3 percent – by 2031 than under the current system.

Nixon recently told the New York Daily News editorial board she did not yet have a plan to pay for single-payer.

“Pass it and then figure out how to fund it,” Nixon said.

Flashback: NBC Smeared Clinton Rape Accuser Juanita Broaddrick as ‘Discredited’

Considering the controversy facing NBC over questions about its decision not to pursue Ronan Farrow’s bombshell Harvey Weinstein investigation, which was central to launching the #MeToo movement, it may be instructive to recall the network’s longtime alleged mistreatment of Bill Clinton rape accuser Juanita Broaddrick.

Broaddrick has been trying to extract an apology from NBC News Anchor Andrea Mitchell for claiming Broaddrick’s highly credible accusations against Clinton had been “discredited” during a Today Show segment.

Broaddrick has also said that NBC scrubbed a section of its original 1999 interview with her where she claimed that Hillary Clinton tried to silence the rape allegations, while questions have been raised about the network’s infamously waiting 35 days to air its original exclusive Broaddrick interview detailing the rape allegations until after the Senate voted to acquit Clinton in the impeachment case involving Monica Lewinsky.

Fatal Crash On I-695 In Baltimore Co. Under Investigation

(CATONSVILLE, MD) — Maryland State Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash on the outer loop of I-695 in Baltimore County that occurred tonight when a driver reportedly jumped out of his moving vehicle and was struck by an oncoming tractor trailer in the adjacent lane.

Troopers are working to identify the adult male victim and notify family. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His body will be taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. His identification is not expected to be released until tomorrow.

Just before 8:00 p.m. tonight, troopers at the Golden Ring Barrack were dispatched for a report of a crash on the outer loop of I-695 at exit 15, Rt. 40. Due to the expanse of the scene and seriousness of the crash, troopers had to close the entire outer loop. MDOT State Highway Administration personnel responded to detour traffic onto Rt. 40 and around the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates a driver, later identified as the deceased, struck the rear of a vehicle while on the ramp from Security Blvd. onto the outer loop of I-695. The at-fault driver did not stop and continued onto the beltway, where he traveled in lane three. (Lane one is the fast lane.)

During the preliminary investigation, troopers learned from witness information that while traveling in lane three, the driver opened his car door and jumped out of his moving car into lane two of the beltway. An oncoming tractor trailer traveling in lane two was unable to stop and struck the man.

The car the man jumped from came to rest along the left side jersey wall. No other vehicles were struck. No other injuries were reported, including the occupants of the car originally struck on the ramp.

Reasons for the driver’s actions are unknown at this time. The investigation is continuing.

David Hogg, Bill De Blasio Team Up To Form Anti-Gun Group

I’ve wondered for a while how much of David Hogg’s crap was a case of being an idealistic youth and how much was nothing more than a desperate grab for fame. Yes, it’s cynical, but it was about the only way I could explain his extortion attempt with Smith & Wesson. Anyone who truly believed in gun control would have probably learned that his followers weren’t the kind who could impact the gun manufacturer’s bottom line.

Well, we now have our answer.

The effort, termed Mayors for Our Lives, builds off the name recognition of this year’s polarizing March for Our Lives movement spearheaded by Hogg and other Parkland, Florida high school students with the help of wealthy donors and established gun control groups. The mayors involved pledge to make voter registration forms more available to students and back “get out the vote” campaigns aimed at younger demographics.

Hogg, appearing with De Blasio on MSNBC’s Morning Joe last week, said the recent surprise win by Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillium in Florida’s Democratic gubernatorial primary came about because of youth advocacy. “In Orlando, our team for March for Our Lives Orlando helped promote voter registration so much that it went up 90 percent in Florida,” he said. “Youth voter registration is up 41 percent. Those people are not taken into account on polls.”

De Blasio, a Democrat who has been at odds with the White House since President Trump took office and has long-allied with groups such as the Brady Campaign, said getting younger voters to the polls is a game changer. “And I’ll tell you something when it comes to gun safety, what I hear from younger voters is uncompromising,” said De Blasio. “They believe it’s a matter of life and death. They’re right. And what David and his colleagues have done has changed American politics and awoken a different sleeping giant which is younger voters.”

Did The CIA & Saudi Arabia Conspire To Keep 9/11 Details Secret?

It’s easier to bury uncomfortable facts than to confront them. So this September 11, the ceremonies marking the 2001 attacks on New York and Washington, D.C., will simply honor the dead. In Manhattan, tourists and mourners will gather where the World Trade Center Towers once stood, lowering their heads in memory of the 2,606 who perished there. The services won't reflect the view that the attacks might well have been prevented.

But for hundreds of families and a growing number of former FBI agents, the grief of another 9/11 ceremony will be laced with barely muted rage: There remains a conspiracy of silence among high former U.S. and Saudi officials about the attacks.

“It’s horrible. We still don’t know what happened,” said Ali Soufan, one of the lead FBI counterterrorism agents whom the CIA kept in the dark about the movements of the future Al-Qaeda hijackers. To Soufan and many other former national security officials, the unanswered questions about the events leading up to the September 11, 2001, attacks dwarf those about the assassination of John F. Kennedy, because “9/11 changed the whole world.” It not only led to the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, the fracturing of the Middle East and the global growth of Islamic militantism but also pushed the U.S. closer to being a virtual homeland-security police state.

Man Sentenced To 7 Years In Fatal Hit-And-Run Case

SNOW HILL — A local man was sentenced on Tuesday to 10 years in prison with all but seven suspended for a fatal hit-and-run collision last summer.

Around 3 a.m. on Aug. 30, 2017, Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) officers responded to a reported hit-and-run collision involving a bicycle in the area of 2nd Street and Philadelphia Avenue. The bicyclist, later identified as Veronika Badurova, 21, of Slovakia, who was working on a J-1 seasonal visa in the resort, was riding southbound on Philadelphia Avenue when she was struck by an SUV also traveling southbound.

The driver of the SUV, identified as Brooks T. Bratten, now 39, of Snow Hill, failed to stop or remain at the scene. Badurova was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in critical condition and two days later she succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision.

Bratten later turned himself in to authorities. The OCPD charged Bratten with multiple counts including two counts of failure to remain at the scene of a fatal traffic collision, two counts of failure to remain at the scene of a traffic collision causing bodily injury, failing to render aid following a traffic collision and negligent driving. In June, Bratten pleaded guilty to failure to stop vehicle at the scene of an accident involving death and a pre-sentence investigation was ordered.

Eric Holder Took Photo With Anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan At Aretha Franklin

Former Attorney General Eric Holder on Friday posed with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan in a photo that went largely unnoticed over the holiday weekend.

Farrakhan is a notorious racist and anti-Semite who has praised Hitler as a “very great man,” claimed that interracial marriage “mongrelized” the black race and repeatedly espoused conspiracy theories about “satanic” Jews.

The Nation of Islam published a photo on Twitter that shows Holder standing next to Farrakhan at Aretha Franklin’s funeral on Friday.

Florence to approach Bermuda and US East Coast next week

Florence, which recently became the first major hurricane (Category 3 or higher) of the 2018 Atlantic season, is forecast to push close enough to Bermuda and the United States East Coast to have indirect impact and may evolve into a serious threat.

After forming near the Cabo Verde islands last weekend, Florence became a hurricane on Tuesday and strengthened to a Category 4 hurricane on Wednesday afternoon.

While Florence is likely to fluctuate in strength due to cool water and buffering winds into the end of the week, its projected path takes the hurricane over very warm water and low wind shear this weekend into next week. Florence may complete a 3,500-mile-long journey over the Atlantic and be guided right to the U.S. East Coast somewhere from the Carolinas to southern New England sometime during Wednesday or Thursday of next week.

Caribbean Hurricane Guide

Yes, there are hurricanes every year in the Caribbean. Yes, these big storms sometimes hit land and disrupt vacations. No, you should not let hurricanes prevent you from taking a Caribbean trip, even during the height of hurricane season.

Bob Sheets, former director of the National Hurricane Center, says the biggest myth about Caribbean weather is "that every hurricane season is unlivable." No, just no. And here's why:

"Your chances of getting hit by a hurricane in the Caribbean is probably not a whole lot different than it is in Miami or on the Gulf Coast," says Sheets. In fact, 100 years of hurricane data show that the chances of Miami being hit by a hurricane is "higher than anywhere in the Caribbean," according to Sheets.

Lawmakers seek answers about sexual misconduct at FEMA

Members of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee want to know what action the Federal Emergency Management Agency took in response to multiple reports of sexual harassment and general misconduct by a high-ranking official.

Sens. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo.; Ron Johnson, R-Wis.; Joni Ernst, R-Iowa; and Gary Peters, D-Mich., sent letters Aug. 27 to both the FEMA administrator and the Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General requesting information on how the agency responded to complaints against FEMA Chief Component Human Capital Officer Corey Coleman.

According to the letter to FEMA, the DHS OIG first received a sexual misconduct complaint against Coleman May 1, 2017, alleging that he had improper sexual relationships with two employees. An internal investigation into the complaint, however, did not begin until December of that year.

This sergeant killed 6 enemy soldiers despite being hit by multiple grenades

Cornelius H. Charlton spent much of his military career away from the front lines.

Born to a coal mining family in West Virginia, Charlton enlisted in the Army in 1946 at the age of 17 and was shipped out to allied-occupied Germany, where he served out his entire enlistment. The young sergeant was then assigned to an administrative position in occupied Japan after he reenlisted.

Soon after his 1950 arrival to Japan, U.S. involvement in the Korean War surged. It was then that Charlton decided he had spent enough time on the sidelines, and he subsequently requested to be moved to a combat unit in South Korea.

Election security bill backers say delay in Congress helps Russia

WASHINGTON — Just two months before the midterm elections, bipartisan legislation to try to prevent foreign hacking into U.S. election systems is stalled in Congress as the White House and some Republicans worry it could exert too much federal control over the states.

Supporters of the bill say the delay could embolden Russia, which targeted election infrastructure in at least 21 states in 2016.

A committee vote on the bipartisan bill was abruptly canceled two weeks ago after objections from some Republican senators and the states they represent. And Republicans and Democrats who are supporting the bill say they don’t know when — or if — it will be taken up again in the few remaining weeks Congress is in session before the midterms.

The delay has some concerned that Congress could punt on the only piece of legislation that is designed to fix what went wrong in 2016 — and to prevent Russia or other countries from trying again. There is no evidence that the Russian targeting of state election systems was successful or changed any votes, but lawmakers, intelligence officials and elections experts say that they believe Russia will return in 2018 and beyond with more sophisticated tools.

It also demonstrates Congress' struggle to develop a cohesive response to the Russian interference — especially as President Donald Trump has at times questioned whether it even happened.

As lawmakers return to work, shutdown fears loom

WASHINGTON — In four weeks, lawmakers could be heading into the midterm elections with a newly adopted federal budget and a sense of pride for finishing their work on time.

Or they could be heading home with a short-term budget extension and a lot of angry voicemails from Pentagon leaders complaining about their long-term budget plans.

Or they could be stuck in town dealing with a partial government shutdown, a potential political disaster as voters head to the polls.

Given the stakes, the appropriations issue will dominate Congress’ September session. Party leaders have said in recent days they are cautiously optimistic that they can finish a substantial portion of the work by the Sept. 30 deadline.

Senators order Pentagon, agencies to curb year-end spending sprees

WASHINGTON — As the Pentagon and other federal agencies are expected to spend the remainder of their budgets before the end of the fiscal year Sept. 30, a bipartisan quartet of senators is urging federal agencies to explain how they will avoid waste and abuse.

Federal agencies reportedly spent more than $11 billion in the final week of fiscal year 2017, and a reported eight of the top ten highest-spending federal agencies have not used as much as 40 percent of their budgets, the lawmakers wrote to the chief financial officers of 13 federal agencies.

“Historically, federal agencies increase spending during the fourth quarter of the fiscal year. Although not a new phenomenon, use it or lose it spending can lead to waste and abuse of taxpayer dollars,” they said in the letter Wednesday to Pentagon Comptroller David Norquist. The letter requested a staff-level briefing.

The Pentagon received flexibility through the 2018 omnibus appropriations vehicle to spend up to 25 percent of its operations and maintenance budget in the last two months of the fiscal year — and added flexibility to reprogram funds. It amounts to legislative relief from the so-called “80/20 rule,” a statutory limitation that not more than 20 percent of one-year appropriations may be obligated during the last two months of the fiscal year.

France threatens to deploy navy in dispute over scallops

PARIS — The French agriculture minister says the country’s navy is ready to intervene to prevent further clashes between French and British fishermen who angrily bumped boats over access to scallop fisheries off the French coast last week.

The minister, Stephane Travert, expressed hope that British and French fishermen will strike a deal to resolve their dispute when they meet Wednesday for talks.

Speaking Tuesday to broadcaster CNEWS, Travert said: “We can’t continue like this, we can’t carry on having clashes like this.”

He added that the French navy is ready to intervene if necessary.

About 35 French boats confronted five British ones, sometimes banging hulls, in international waters off the coast of northern France last week, amid tensions over access to scallop fisheries.

LinkedIn goes to war against Chinese spies

LinkedIn says it’s working to combat Chinese espionage activity targeting users of the online career network.

The Microsoft-owned service said Friday it’s partnering with U.S. law enforcement agencies after uncovering fake LinkedIn profiles and other fraudulent activity.

Reuters reported Friday that William Evanina, who directs the National Counterintelligence and Security Center, says the U.S. government informed LinkedIn about China’s “super aggressive” efforts to contact members on the site, apparently for the purpose of spy recruitment.

LinkedIn said earlier in August it found accounts were being misused to connect with LinkedIn members who work at political organizations. The company then said in a blog post Tuesday it has reason to believe "nation-state actors" were creating fake accounts.

China’s foreign ministry told Reuters it disputes Evanina’s allegations.
