Mayor of Denver's 22-year-old son curses and berates officer

The mayor of Denver's son cursed at, berated and threatened an officer's job who had pulled him over for speeding, and it was all caught on camera.

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock's son Jordan, was pulled over on March 23 for driving 65mph in a 40 zone.

Instead of cooperating with the officer issuing the ticket, in the Aurora police district- not Denver's- the 22-year-old is cursing at him saying: 'My dad's the mayor, you f****ing f****t.'

Hantler: More Fake News Attacks Lobbed at Surging FL Gubernatorial Candidate Ron DeSantis

The surging outsider campaign of Trump-backed, conservative Rep. Ron DeSantis for Governor of Florida continues to draw fire from entrenched, establishment interests. Last week witnessed the launching of a ridiculous new tv ad which aims to smear the man they most fear, Ron DeSantis.

The culprit is the so-called National Liberty Federation, which is a dark money front group for heavily-subsidized sugar interests like US Sugar Corp., which is a major supporter of anti-Trump, pro-open borders establishment candidate Adam Putnam

The NLF’s previous $1 million-plus tv and radio campaign was a total dud because it was ademonstrably false attack that tried to characterize DeSantis’ opposition to Barack Obama’s food stamp policies as tantamount to wanting to extend food stamps to illegal aliens. Huh?

Having failed to tarnish DeSantis’ record as a border hawk, the NLF is trying to portray DeSantis, a noted swamp drainer who voluntarily declined his lucrative congressional pension to save taxpayer money, as a part of the swamp.

In Eric Schneiderman’s Fall, Trump Resistance Loses ‘Ringleader’

Just two weeks ago, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman was coming off a legal victory against the Trump administration’s deregulatory agenda for fuel efficiency standards.

“As we’ve proven again and again, when the Trump administration puts special interests before public health and our environment, we’ll take them to court—and we will win,” Schneiderman saidApril 23.

And Saturday, Schneiderman boasted about taking on the Trump administration in a tweet with comic book art presenting him as a superhero.

Trump May Get Another Supreme Court Nomination Soon

Although there is currently not a vacancy for a Supreme Court Justice, conservative and liberal activists are prepared to fight over the potentially vacant position due to the recent announcement of Justice Anthony Kennedy’s possible retirement.

Swirling rumors that Justice Kennedy is considering retirement after serving 30 years on the bench have liberals and conservatives preparing now since they are both very dedicated to winning the battle for what many consider a very important confirmation. During Kennedy’s service, he was the deciding vote on many controversial Supreme Court cases, and it is crucial to both sides that they have a say in who will be awarded the coveted position.

The campaigning has already started from each party. Commercials with messages for and against potential nominees are being aired, strategy meetings are being held, and senators with critical votes are already feeling the pressure. Due to the fact that any nominee chosen by Trump will only lean the Supreme Court to the right, liberals and their supporters are concerned – and rightly so.

“It’s hard to fathom something more important to our rights and freedoms, and especially at this critical time for our democracy,” said Kristine Lucius of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. “I think you would see engagement larger than you’ve seen in recent memory.”

It is important to remember, though that Kennedy’s exit is only a rumor at this point. He has been tight-lipped about his retirement plans. His has a very prestigious role at a very critical time for the U.S., and his vote is often touted as being the court’s ‘swing vote’. However, with Republican senators having only a slight advantage of 51-49, Kennedy may decide that it is best to remain in the position for the time being.

If Justice Kennedy does decide to retire, all eyes will be on the people who are thought to be on Trump’s list of potential replacements. “Our goal will be to humanize that person by telling their story right away. And television advertising is going to be a big part of that,” said Ron Bonjean former top adviser to House and Senate Republican leaders who assisted with Justice Gorsuch’s confirmation.

Labor Activist Goes Low in Wage Hike Debate

A debate over whether Washington, D.C., restaurant workers should trade their tips for $15 an hour went off the rails after a labor activist race baited a black bartender who opposed the minimum wage hike.

Jessica Martin, a D.C. activist who serves on the board of directors of the Restaurant Opportunities Center (ROC), alluded to Frank Mills as an "Uncle Tom" because of his opposition to Ballot Initiative 77. Mills, a bartender at Jack Rose in the city's Adams Morgan neighborhood, defended the tipped wage, disputing ROC arguments that tips directly lead to sexual harassment in the industry. Mills said the city's restaurant scene has been one of female empowerment.

"The very progressive city that D.C. is, there are female bosses, there's female bartenders, female owners. There are female head bartenders. There are female head servers. There are female head chefs. There are females that are cocktail queens and are beasts and we respect them more than anybody else," he said during the debate hosted by the D.C. Craft Bartenders Guild on Monday.

Martin interjected, but rather than challenging Mills's argument, she suggested he was recruited to speak because of his race. She accused the bartender of undermining ROC's attempt to help workers to better serve restaurant owners.

Donald Trump Ends the Obama Mirage

President Trump announced that the United States would withdraw from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), aka the Iran nuclear deal, on the afternoon of May 8. The deal, announced to such fanfare in July 2015, did not live to see its third birthday. And for that, I am grateful.

Why? Because the president said not only that America will be leaving the accord. He declared that the period of waxing Iranian influence in the Middle East is at an end. The deal financed several years of Iranian expansion through Shiite proxies in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen. By reimposing sanctions, President Trump will weaken an already ailing Iranian economy. The Iranian currency, the rial, has plummeted in recent weeks. Inflation is rampant. The financial system is corrupted, dysfunctional. Strikes are proliferating, and often turn into displays against the government. This is a situation the United States should seek not to mitigate but to exacerbate.

Removing ourselves from the deal puts Iran on the defensive. Its people and government are divided and uncertain how to respond. Its leverage is minimal. Iranian citizens have seen their leaders use the money from the deal not to improve the economic lot of the average person but to fund the military, IRGC, and other instruments of foreign adventurism. Implicit in the deal was recognition of the Islamic regime as a legitimate member of the so-called "international community." President Trump has rescinded that recognition and the standing that came with it. The issue is no longer Iranian compliance with an agreement that contained loopholes through which you could launch a Fateh-110 heavy missile. The issue is whether Iran chooses to become a responsible player or not, whether it curbs its imperial designs, cuts off its militias, abandons terrorism, opens its public square, and ceases its threats to and harassment of the United States and her allies. That choice is not Donald Trump's to make. It is the Iranian regime's.

Amazon Bars Christian Group From Charity Program Because Southern Poverty Law Center Says So

Amazon has barred prominent Christian legal group Alliance Defending Freedom from participating in its Amazon Smile charitable program, which allows nonprofits to recoup a small fraction of the money their supporters spend through Amazon.

Alliance Defending Freedom, which specializes in First Amendment law and has won cases at the U.S. Supreme Court, is barred from Amazon Smile on account of the left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center, which labeled Alliance Defending Freedom a “hate group.”

“All nonprofits are eligible as long as they meet our participation agreement,” an Amazon spokesman told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “As a part of that participation agreement, we also state that Amazon relies on the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control and the Southern Poverty Law Center to determine which charities are eligible.”

The participation agreement forbids member groups from, among other things, promoting “hate” or “intolerance.”

Alliance Defending Freedom chief executive officer Michael Farris sent a letter to Amazon on May 3, saying he was “surprised and disappointed” to find out his group was no longer able to participate in the Amazon program. Farris criticized Amazon for so greatly empowering the the Southern Poverty Law Center, which he described as a “discredited partisan organization.”

Maryland Fishing Report: May 9

Those who fish know that the waters they love have many moods, and perhaps one of our favorites is when they are quiet and calm.
This past weekend with overcast skies and little wind was one of those times that the waters we fish seem to talk to us – from the bubbling mountain streams, to the calmer waters of ponds, lakes and Chesapeake Bay.

Weekly Fishing Conditions Forecast SummaryMay 9-14
The continued blast of warm weather is quickly driving up bay water temperatures, as if we have moved from early spring directly to summer. As the bay comes alive, there are many fishing opportunities for excited anglers.
The Maryland portion of the bay continues to have suitable oxygen conditions from surface to bottom. In addition, there are slightly warmer surface water temperatures so anglers may want to scan these shallower areas for fish during moving water and low light conditions after sunset and before sunrise. Main bay water temperatures are in the mid to upper 60s as reported from the buoys at Annapolis and Gooses Reef. However, expect the continued sunny, warm weather next week to cause water temperatures to approach 70 degrees. In addition, expect temperatures in smaller, dark-bottomed shallow creeks to hold much warmer temperatures. As tides empty the water in these warm creeks, look for nearby structure to target feeding gamefish.
Expect average flows for the Susquehanna, Potomac and smaller rivers and streams entering the bay. There will be above average tidal currents Friday through Tuesday as a result of the new moon May 15.
For the full weekly fishing conditions summary and more detailed and up-to-date fishing conditions in your area of the bay, be sure to check out Click Before You Cast.
Also check out the new Bay Bottom Habitat Mapper that shows bottom type, fishing reefs, popular fishing areas, recent oyster planting sites and submerged aquatic vegetation. The depth/navigation charts backdrop allows you to see their relationship with nearby channel edges, points, humps, flats or other key contour features.

Upper Chesapeake Bay

At the very top of the bay there has been good fishing for white perch in the lower Susquehanna River. Water temperatures are holding around 65 degrees in the river and 67 in Deer Creek. Hickory shad are being caught and released in Octararo Creek and American Shad up near the Conowingo Dam. There has been some hickory shad action at Deer Creek, but most anglers are waiting for a spawning run, which could happen any day.
Department biologist Chuck Stence, who collects hickory shad brood stock from the Deer Creek/lower Susquehanna area for restoration work in other watersheds, filed this recent report:“We finished electro-fishing in the lower Susquehanna last week, Hickory shad were hard to come by this year. The water was extremely cold. White perch and herring just showed up last week. With all of the rain we had two weeks ago, Deer Creek was muddy. We had to fish out in the middle of the river. We muddled through, but it wasn’t easy.”
The Conowingo Dam seems to be on a midday power generation schedule lately with very low flows at night. The striped bass in the area are starting to spawn, and this is good news for trolling in the upper bay below the Brewerton Channel.
Department biologist Beth Versak was kind enough to send us a report from the field as she monitors the upper bay spawning action: “We were in a shallow water site off Aberdeen and the water was 65 degrees. They have definitely begun spawning, but not all. We caught three big females, two pre-spawn and one post. Males are a mix of pre and post-spawn. Finally!”
Those trolling in the upper bay have been picking up a few large striped bass recently near traditional steep edges of the shipping channel. The outside edge near Love Point, the Triple Buoys, Podickory Point and the Dumping Grounds just north of the Bay Bridge are all popular spots to give trolling a try. As more striped bass spawn, more large post-spawn striped bass will be moving down the steeper shipping channel edges. Most angers are trolling large parachutes and bucktails in tandem and some are using umbrella rigs. All this trolling is done off planer boards or flat lines that are allowed to be far astern.

Middle Bay
Surface water temperatures hit 60 degrees this week and are warmer in the tidal rivers and shallower areas. There is still a bit of spawning going on in the major rivers, but most of it is over, which means post-spawn striped bass are moving into the bay and headed south along channel edges.
The steep edges where the current moves along at a good clip create a sort of interstate freeway for these large fish heading south and exiting the bay for their travels north to New England waters. These large girls are looking for big entrees on the Chesapeake Bay menu after more than a month in the upper reaches of the tidal rivers. Large parachutes and bucktails dressed with filleting size sassy shads will be the ticket to this party. Water clarity has been good, so white has been a popular color, but one can never go wrong with chartreuse in a trolling spread. These large girls are often close to the surface in the early morning hours, it pays to be trolling at the crack of dawn, since engine noise will send them down to deeper depths and has been known to cause lockjaw at times. The first licks at post-spawn striped bass leaving the Choptank River will be the False Channel and CP Buoy areas and then the steep channel edge south past R76.
The light tackle jigging for striped bass continues to get better as warmer bay water temperatures prevail. The Bay Bridge piers and rock piles are holding some nice striped bass for some catch-and-release fun until May 16, after which fish under 35 inches can be kept (please be mindful of the new striped bass regulations). Striped bass can also be found suspended along some of the channel edges in the upper bay and the shallow water fishery should begin to develop as fish move about the shallower areas.
The hickory shad run is still going strong in the upper Choptank this week and fisheries biologist that were doing some electrofishing survey work and mentioned there were no fishermen in sight. Great effort was undertaken early this year by fisheries and county personnel to open up the river above Greensboro for small boat traffic so it makes it an ideal location for those fishing from kayaks and canoes.
Lower Bay

There is plenty of action in the lower bay region this week since most striped bass heading south will have to pass through this region. The Hooper Island Straits, the main channel down the center of Tangier Sound and the east side of the shipping channel from the HS Buoy south to R72 and beyond are common routes for post-spawn striped bass exiting the Nanticoke River.
On the western side of the bay it is pretty hard to beat the Cove Point channel edge as well as Cedar Point to catch Patuxent River fish and any other large fish coming down the western side of the shipping channel. In the lower Potomac the steep channel edges off St. Clements Island, Piney Point and St. Georges Island are hard to beat. There are also light tackle options in the lower Potomac in regard to jigging for smaller striped bass, when they’re found suspended along channel edges.
Fishing for blue catfish has been good from the mouth of the Wicomico River at Bushwood all the way up to the Wilson Bridge. The general area from Smallwood State Park to the Wilson Bridge tends to be the most popular area to fish, with good boat ramps at Smallwood and Fort Washington. There still reports of good catch-and-release fishing for hickory shad in the Washington, D.C. area of the Potomac. This fishery is a fly casters dream; all it takes is a sinking line, some small shad darts or colorful flies. There is plenty of casting room and plenty of eager hickory shad and American shad to offer some fun catch and release action.

Freshwater Fishing
The western region of Maryland is slowly warming. The region’s trout streams are still quite chilly, which is good for the fish, and the trout management areas are still receiving stockings. The special management areas that are reserved for fly-fishing or catch-and-release offer the very best fishing experience in uncrowded and beautiful settings. The put-and-take areas continue to be stocked and provide the opportunity to take home some trout.
The reservoirs and ponds offer fun fishing for a variety of fish species. Fishing at Deep Creek Lake has been good for smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch, crappie and walleye. Other reservoirs such as Broadford and Piney offer great fishing for largemouth bass and a broad range of panfish. They are great places to fish from shore as well from small boats. The upper Potomac River is in fine shape this week and fishing for smallmouth bass and walleye has been very good. Tubes and stick worms have been good choices fished close to the bottom.

There are reservoirs and ponds scattered across the Maryland landscape and most offer good fishing for a variety of species. Many are small community ponds that offer some nearby fun fishing where one can find a little peace while casting bait or lures. Others are larger reservoirs that offer exciting fishing from shore or from small boats, kayaks or canoes. The department maintains a list of some of these waters.
Many state parks also offer good fishing opportunities as well.
Largemouth bass are now in their typical spring spawning mode in many of the warmer areas of the southern, eastern and central regions, and remain in pre-spawn mode in the chillier western region. The female bass will soon finish spawning, get off their nests and leave the protection of the eggs and larvae to the male bass. These female largemouth bass will be aggressively looking to build up body stores after the exhaustive spawning process. Shallow areas can be fished with small lipless crankbaits, topwater lures such as frogs and chatterbaits. Transition areas can be effectively worked with spinnerbaits and jerkbaits. Grass is filling in, and targeting the fish with soft plastics is always a winning hand.
Man holding large snakehead

Northern snakeheads will be part of the mix in just about every tidal river and creek in the Chesapeake watershed, and they offer some good eating.
Atlantic Ocean and Coastal Bays
Warmer water temperatures are bringing about some profound changes to the Ocean City area. Ocean water temperatures have risen to about 55 degrees this week and as high as 65 in the back bay waters. Surf casters are fishing with cut bait for a mix of small striped bass, bluefish and black drum and catching a few, although they are being overwhelmed with clear-nosed skates and spiny dogfish.
Around the inlet and Route 50 Bridge area, tautog have moved in and are being caught on sand fleas. Bluefish have also been moving in and out of the inlet. Flounder fishing has been going well inside the inlet and the channels leading to inlet such as the Thorofare channel. Some of the largest flounder are being caught on white Gulp baits. There is also catch-and-release fishing for small striped bass around the Route 50 and Route 90 Bridge areas.
Outside the inlet, boats headed out to the inshore wreck and reef sites are finding good tautog fishing for their patrons. Most are using green crab baits or clams. Some large sea bass are being caught and released giving great hope for the opening of the season. Right now the new federal sea bass regulations are still in the proposed stage, and hopefully there will be some good news shortly.

No Country For 'Old White Guys'

After millions of baby boomers lost their life savings during the financial crisis (a catastrophe for which no senior bankers were ever held accountable), more old white men are being forced out of retirement or simply being forced to work until a much later age.

Unfortunately for older Americans, rampant ageism in the workforce is making it difficult to get well-paying work - or even, as the following case shows, a job at the local restaurant and bar.

To wit, Darden's Season 52 chain of restaurants was has been forced to pay $2.85 million to settle a federal lawsuit brought by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleging that job candidates interviewing for jobs at the chain's 41 locations had been told that they wouldn't be considered because the company didn't hire "old white guys," according to the Orlando Sentinel.

"Often, discrimination cases are hard to prove," said David Seltzer, an attorney on the case with the EEOC’s Miami district office. "But here, Seasons 52 interviews across locations repeatedly told applicants things like 'We don’t hire people over 40,' 'Seasons 52 girls are younger and fresh' or asked them for their date of birth, high school graduation date or a driver’s license."

[...]

The EEOC alleged that one manager bluntly said Seasons 52 didn’t employ "old white guys.'"

Though the company escaped an admission of liability (and continues to deny the allegations) it will now be required to hold new training for all hiring managers regarding "age-neutral and non-discriminatory recruiting, interviewing, and hiring; and how to avoid stereotypes in hiring and in the workplace, including ageism and age stereotypes."

Also, the victims of the company's purported discrimination will be invited to reapply for positions at the restaurant. Season 52 has also been required to have its hiring practices monitored for three years by an independent attorney.

The case, which was filed in February 2015, alleged that Darden’s Seasons 52 chain tried to portray a "young and hip" image by hiring younger servers and hosts.

Stagflationary Crisis: Understanding The Cause Of America's Ongoing Collapse

It is at times frustrating, but also interesting, to witness the progression of the mainstream’s awareness of economic crisis within the U.S. over the years. As an alternative economist, I have had the “privilege” of perching outside the financial narrative and observing our economy from a less biased position, and I have discovered a few things.

First, the mainstream economic media is approximately two to three years behind average alternative economists. At least, they don’t seem to acknowledge reality within our time frame. This may be deliberate (my suspicion) because the general public is not meant to know the truth until it is too late for them to react in a practical way to solve the problem. For example, it is a rather strange experience for me to see the term “stagflation” suddenly becoming a major buzzword in the MSM. It is almost everywhere in the past week ever since the last Federal Reserve meeting in which the central bank mentioned higher inflation pressures and removed references in its monthly statement to a “growing economy.”

For those unfamiliar with what stagflation is, it is essentially the loss of economic growth in numerous sectors coupled with a marked spike in consumer and manufacturing costs.

US job openings equal unemployed for 1st time in 2 decades

If you're looking for a job right now, this may be about as good as it gets: There are roughly as many open jobs in the United States as there are unemployed people.

In March, employers advertised 6.55 million open jobs, the most on records dating to December 2000, the Labor Department said Tuesday . At the same time, there were 6.59 million unemployed people.

That's a historical anomaly. Typically, there are far more unemployed people than advertised job openings — often twice as many. And back in July 2009, just after the Great Recession, there were 6.7 unemployed people, on average, for each open job. With that ratio now at essentially 1 to 1, the job market appears to be tilting in favor of workers and job-seekers rather than employers.

Mourners offer final bow to the 'Father of American Taekwondo' Jhoon Rhee

VIENNA, Va. (WJLA) — Family, friends, and former students of a local martial arts icon said goodbye Tuesday at a memorial service in Vienna, Virginia. Jhoon Rhee was known as the "Father of American Taekwondo.”

A who's who of martial artists offered their final bow to their grand master who 60 years ago introduced the sport to the United States. Longtime TV viewers in Washington will clearly remember Rhee's "Nobody bothers me" commercials featuring his children Meme and Chun.

“He just loved what he did. It was his passion,” Chun said.

“He lived a big life and this is definitely congruent with that,” added Meme.

Rhee died last week at age 86 after a long illness. During the memorial service, he was remembered by friends, like actor Chuck Norris.

Maryland State Police Arrest Suspect In Fatal Hit-And-Run In Worcester County

(BERLIN, Md.) — Maryland State Police have arrested a suspect wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on Sunday night in Worcester County.

The suspect, Jonathan Torin Kidder, 59, of Berlin, Md., turned himself into the Maryland State Police Berlin Barrack on Thursday morning. Kidder is charged with negligent automotive homicide under the influence of alcohol, homicide by motor vehicle impaired by alcohol, failure to immediately stop a vehicle at the scene of an accident involving death, driving/attempting to drive a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and driving/attempting to drive a vehicle while impaired by alcohol. The State’s Attorney for Worcester County, Bill McDermott, was present for Kidder’s initial appearance and requested that Kidder be held without bond at the Worcester County Detention Center. Mr. McDermott will also personally appear for the state at Kidder’s bond review Friday morning.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on Sunday, troopers from the Berlin Barrack responded to the area of MD 589 and Gum Point Road in Berlin, Md., on a report of a crash involving a motor vehicle and a bicycle. The bicyclist, identified as Jose Eduardo Madrid Pineda, 38, of Berlin, Md., was transported to Atlantic General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

According to investigators, the driver of the vehicle, later identified as Kidder, fled from the scene. Shortly after 10:20 p.m., troopers from the Berlin Barrack responded to a second crash, with this one located at US 50 and Keyser Point Road. During this crash, the driver of a Chevrolet Yukon rear-ended another vehicle. That driver, also identified as Kidder, exited the vehicle, and briefly talked with the other driver before running away.

Investigators were able to link debris found at the fatal hit-and-run scene with Kidder’s vehicle at the scene of the second crash.

During the investigation the Maryland State Police was assisted by many departments including the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland Natural Resources Police, Ocean City Police Department, Delaware State Police, Berlin Fire Department and Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration.

The investigation is ongoing…

Oklahoma Senate passes permit-less carry bill

OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma Senate members passed a bill allowing for permit-less carry.

Senate Bill 1212, also referred to as the “Constitutional Carry” bill, was presented by Sen. Nathan Dahm, R-Broken Arrow. It passed the Oklahoma Senate on Wednesday night by a vote of 33 to 9. If ultimately signed into law, it would allow for open carry without a permit.

On the Senate floor Wednesday night, Sen. Dahm said 12 states have already passed similar legislation; however, the measure was not met without criticism.

Sen. Kay Floyd, D-Oklahoma, who voted against the measure, said it wasn’t properly vetted.

The bill passed the Oklahoma House of Representatives last week in spite of much debate on the floor.

What the Caravan Shows We Have to Do to Protect America

Today, the United Nations controls our border.

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical left and Islamic terrorism.

The invading caravan from Central America finally reached the United States. Some members of the caravan crossed the border illegally and were arrested. Others may have made it through undetected.

Still others openly applied for asylum and had their applications processed at the San Ysidro port of entry at the border. They were selected by the radical anti-American group, Pueblo Sin Fronteras, as the best representatives of their invasion of the United States. Others just headed straight for the hills.

The Goat Canyon area has one of the biggest gaps and is a popular crossing spot for illegal migrants. There’s an 8-foot tall fence in poor condition and a woefully incomplete secondary fence. Fencing in the area dates back to Operation Gatekeeper in the 90s which reduced migrant traffic, but didn’t stop it. After leveling hills and building miles of fencing, the area is still a dangerous illegal alien magnet.

Online Returns Crush In-Store Retail Sales, "Materially" Lowering Rent for Property Owners

As if the rise of e-commerce on its own was not enough to singlehandedly cripple brick-and-mortar retail, retail property owners are getting hit with collateral damage. Online returns being made in-store, which are then subtracted from a store's sales, are turning out to cost property owners "material" amounts of money. Many retail property owners are paid rent that is correlated to the amount of sales consummated on their property, but the convenience of being able to buy online and return in store has put significant pressure on these figures and - in turn - property owners' earnings. Bloomberg reported this morning:

Mall owners, already squeezed by e-commerce and spending billions on property makeovers to draw shoppers, have a new headache: retailers deducting returns for items bought online from their sales figures.

David Simon, chief executive officer of Simon Property Group Inc., says a “significant number” of tenants are underreporting sales and that the company, the largest U.S. mall owner, is negotiating with them to find a solution.

For America’s beleaguered retail landlords, sales per square foot is a crucial metric, used by investors to gauge their financial health. In addition to the dollars lost themselves, a low number can damage a mall’s reputation on Wall Street.

The issue Simon is flagging arises from rents that are based on how much a retailer sells in its physical store. It’s common for a tenant to pay a base amount and then give the landlord a cut of sales that exceed a set threshold. Occasionally a retailer has no base rent and is obligated to pay only a percentage of sales rung up at the property.

“We are getting dinged by internet returns,” Simon said on a conference call with analysts Friday. “Every retailer is different, and there is not a standard response yet. It needs to be addressed in future leases.” He declined to quantify the problem but said it was “material,” telling the analysts that “we have audit rights, and in our normal procedure we saw some anomalies about sales.”

Both magistracies are equally independent in the sphere of action assigned to them… the opinion which gives to the judges the right to decide what laws are constitutional, and what are not, not only for themselves in their own sphere of action, but for the Legislature & Executive also, in their spheres, would make the judiciary a despotic branch."

President Trump said he'd meet Kim Jong-un of North Korea in Singapore on June 12: We’ll "try to make it a very special moment for World Peace!"

President Trump announced on Thursday that his meeting with the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, would be held on June 12 in Singapore.

Mr. Trump made his announcement in a Twitter post on Thursday morning, just hours after he met the three recently freed American hostages at Joint Base Andrews, where they arrived in the middle of the night after their release by North Korea.

Trump: Five Most Wanted ISIS Leaders Captured

President Donald Trump tweeted Thursday that the five most wanted members of the Islamic State terror group have been captured.

“Five most wanted leaders of ISIS just captured,” POTUS stated.

Breaking News: Widespread failures led to the deaths of 4 U.S. soldiers on a secretive mission in Niger. But a military inquiry did not assign direct blame.

A long-awaited Defense Department investigation of a Special Forces mission in Niger last fall found widespread problems across all levels of the military operation, but concludes that “no single failure or deficiency” led to the deaths of four American soldiers who were among a team of Green Berets ambushed by fighters aligned with the Islamic State.

Even as it found “individual, organizational and institutional” mistakes, the investigation also revealed heroic efforts by a small team that was battered and outnumbered as it braced to take a last stand against a barrage of heavy machine gunfire and mortar rounds.

Report: CBS, PBS Knew About Charlie Rose's Alleged Sexual Misconduct for Years

The far-left Washington Post reports in a lengthy exposé that 27 additional women have come forward to accuse disgraced journalist Charlie Rose of sexual misconduct, stating also that managers at both PBS and CBS received complaints going back years.

“Incidents of sexual misconduct by Charlie Rose were far more numerous than previously known, according to a new investigation …which also found three occasions over a period of 30 years in which CBS managers were warned of his conduct toward women at the network,” the Post reported.

Corrina Collins, a former intern for Rose, said that after he insisted she drink while they sat together on a plane, he began to “paw” at her. Later, she said, he grabbed her breast.

“Back in New York,” the Post reported, “Collins said she shared concerns about Rose with Yvette Vega, the executive producer of Rose’s PBS show, whom she said replied that he was harmless. Vega did not respond to a request for comment.”

This alleged incident occurred in 2003.

CBS executives have apparently been aware of Rose’s behavior going back more than 30 years.

NRA's New President Says He's Not Moses: 'I'm a U.S. Marine'

(CNSNews.com) - Lt. Col. Oliver North, the newly named president of the National Rifle Association, told Fox & Friends on Tuesday morning he'll serve as a "quick reaction force" for an organization that finds itself under attack as it defends the constitutional right to keep and bear arms:

I'm cognizant of the challenge. I'm grateful, humbled by the opportunity. Someone said to me yesterday, do you think you're Charlton Heston? I said, no. He's Moses. I'm a U.S. Marine. And it's a time when you need a Marine at the top of the pyramid at the National Rifle Association. It's under attack.

Quite frankly, I have never seen anything quite like it. They've have hacked into almost everything that they could. They have threatened the officers, the directors, the staff. The harassment goes beyond simply yelling at people. It now includes vandalism. It's slashed tires and broken windshields and things like that. And there is no place for that in America.

And so my purpose is to-- I'm the quick reaction force, I guess is the best way of putting it. We have a message to get out to the American people. It's a very straightforward message.

The NRA was created in 1871 to teach the safe handling of firearms, marksmanship, and protection of the Second Amendment. It's very simple. Not out to take anything from anybody. What we want to do is help everybody keep their freedom.

Grandmother arrested for slapping granddaughter with slipper, police say

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A 95-year-old grandmother in Florida was arrested Saturday after police said she slapped her granddaughter in face with her slipper before calling 911 to get her out of the house.

According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, Hattie Reynolds told police her granddaughter, Janeen Williams, 46, would not get out of bed, and that she was "tired of her staying in bed all day soaking up the air conditioning."

When officers arrived at the home, Williams told police she did not want to press charges, but because of "strict domestic violence laws" Reynolds was arrested.

According to a Florida statute, police officers have the ability to determine if an arrest is needed in a domestic violence instance once probable cause is established.

"If your wife reported that you threatened to hit her, you would be arrested because that is a domestic violence assault," police Chief Craig Capri told the News-Journal. "I just feel bad for her but the officers did their job as required by the law."

The real Melania Trump

The mainstream media’s characterization of Melania Trump is that she is a spineless and brainless appendage to her husband. But like the media’s portrayal of Donald Trump as a racist, a fool and a danger to humanity, the caricatures are wrong.

Melania Trump speaks six languages — English, French, Italian, German, Slovenian and Serbo-Croatian — and has tremendous influence on the president and his staff. As revealed in my book “The Trump White House: Changing the Rules of the Game,” she sits in on key meetings, summarizes the points others make and has always given sage advice on strategy, according to insiders.

In fact, contrary to a report in Vogue that she did not want to be first lady, Mr. Trump has credited her with urging him to declare his candidacy rather than vacillate about whether to run for president. Otherwise, she said, the polls would not reflect his support because people would not believe that he was serious about running. And she said to him, “If you run, you’re going to win.”

After he and Melania descended the escalator at Trump Tower to announce on June 16, 2015, that he would make America great again, his campaign took off. A week later, a Suffolk University poll had him in second place in New Hampshire among the large 2016 Republican primary field.

Housing Developer Warns: Tenants with Firearms Will Be Evicted

A housing developer with multiple properties in New Jersey is warning that tenants who possess, store, or carry firearms on their developments will face a “notice to vacate.”

The developer, RPM Development Group, issued a notice of the policy to all residents and that notice was acquired and published by the New Jersey Second Amendment Society.

Breitbart News spoke with RPM General Counsel David Steinberg, who confirmed that the policy says, “No one will be permitted to store, or carry a gun or rifle, or any other type of firearm of any kind in the building, or on the grounds.”

The notice goes on to say, “If it is discovered that you do have a firearm of any kind on this property, you will received a Notice to Cease, followed by a Notice to Vacate.”

Russia investigation isn’t really about Trump, but giving cover to Obama and Hillary

Those of us to the right of the political center in America, patriots who yearn for the return of rule of law and the righteous American ideals of freedom and equal justice, look with shock and disbelief at the legal charade and mockery of the Constitution which plays itself out every night on our televisions in our living rooms across this great land.

We truly can’t understand why this witch hunt gone wild is allowed to continue. We don’t understand why someone in power in the Department of Justice won’t stand up and end what is obviously a Deep State coup against a duly-elected president of the United States.

Well, I’ve been writing about this for some time but I think it’s time I said it again because the answer to these questions is very simple. This investigation is not about Trump. It is about Barack Hussein Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Lyme disease vaccine: the frustrating reason there isn’t one for humans

Your dog can get vaccinated for Lyme. You cannot.

Lyme has quickly become one of the most common infectious diseases in America, with many as 300,000 people infected every year. And public health officials fear the bacterial infection, which jumps from ticks to humans, will only spread farther and faster as climate change makes more parts of the US habitable for ticks.

Lyme can be treated with antibiotics. And there are many ways to prevent tick bites. But there’s no vaccine available if you want extra protection against the disease (unless you’re adog).

Yet in the late 1990s and early 2000s, a vaccine called LYMErix was sold to prevent between 76 and 92 percent of infections. Hundreds of thousands of people got it — until vaccine fear knocked it off the market.

The LYMErix story is worth retelling today. It’s a stark reminder of how anti-vaccine mania of the past few decades is leaving us all more susceptible to disease.

Details on Iran’s nuclear program

Israel’s intelligence coup in obtaining tens of thousands of documents on the Iranian nuclear weapons program sheds new light on Tehran’s secret arms program.

An Israeli government PowerPoint briefing on the documents showed Iran moved the files in 2017 to a secret warehouse in an industrial area of southern Tehran called Shorabad. Inside the warehouse were numerous safes protecting some 55,000 pages of documents in binders, and 183 CDs containing 50,000 more digital files.

An Israeli official told reporters the daring operation by Mossad agents to steal the documents was carried out on Jan. 31, and included Iranians discovering the break-in as it was happening. The Iranians flew a drone aircraft into Israeli airspace 11 days after the document raid, possibly in response to the operation.

The document cache was so large, Israeli agents were unable to bring all the files out. The storage facility and the materials in it were among the Tehran government’s most closely guarded secrets and Iranian authorities were alarmed that warehouse was discovered and sacked.

The documents reveal Iran’s nuclear arms program was called “Project Amad” and operated from 1999 to 2003.

Michelle Obama, take your snottiness and go

Michelle Obama, the former first lady who seems to have appointed herself the spokesperson for the fairer gender, has taken to criticizing her fellow women for voting for Donald Trump for president in 2016.

She’s “concerned” about women. She’s wondering “what is going on in our heads.”

Well, she needn’t be. In fact, better yet, she ought to just go away. And take that trail of condescension, too.

Obama’s snottiness, while typical of the left’s ever-present contempt toward the right, adds nothing to the current political climate but fire.

The U.S. Voting System Remains Vulnerable 6 Months Before Election Day. What Now?

As America heads toward the 2018 midterms, there is an 800-pound gorilla in the voting booth.

Despite improvements since Russia's attack on the 2016 presidential race, the U.S. elections infrastructure is vulnerable — and will remain so in November.

Cybersecurity expert Bruce Schneier laid out the problem to an overflowing room full of election directors and secretaries of state — people charged with running and securing elections — at a conference at Harvard University this spring.

"Computers are basically insecure," said Schneier. "Voting systems are not magical in any way. They are computers."

Strange Things Are Afoot: Bill And Ted Set To Return As Dad Rockers

After 27 years, Bill and Ted are on their way back to close the time loop in a new film,Bill and Ted Face the Music.

In it, according to the synopsis, Bill and Ted "find themselves as middle-aged dads still trying to crank out a hit song and fulfill their destiny." If your memory is as hazy as Jeff Spicoli's, you'd be forgiven for not recalling that, through Excellent Adventure and up until the tail-end of the franchise's second film Bogus Journey, Bill and Ted were decidedly heinous at creating music, despite the fate of the Earth depending on them, like, not being. Old habits die, it seems evident, with much difficulty.

"We have been working ten years to get this done in the right way," co-creator and co-writer Ed Solomon wrote on Twitter. In an interview last month, Keanu Reeves (Ted) said the film was first pitched to him and co-star Alex Winter (Bill) in 2007 and is now, while still in pre-production, currently being shopped at Cannes.

Former CIA Officer Charged With Spying For China

An ex-CIA officer arrested in January at New York's John F. Kennedy airport has been charged with conspiracy to commit espionage on behalf of China years after FBI agents turned up notebooks containing classified information in a search of his hotel room.

Jerry Chun Shing Lee, 53, a naturalized U.S. citizen, had a top-secret clearance and worked as a field agent for the Central Intelligence Agency from 1994 until 2007. He was living in Hong Kong at the time of his arrest, and had apparently been the target of an FBI investigation since 2012, when agents searching a Honolulu hotel room discovered handwritten notes on "asset meeting, operational meeting locations, operational phone numbers, true names of assets, and covert facilities" pertaining to China, according to a court affidavit.

After leaving the CIA, Lee worked for Japan Tobacco International, formed his own company and later joined Christie's auction house in Hong Kong, The South China Morning Post reports.

California's Next Step in the Sexual Revolution: Silencing Certain Beliefs

The same voices who claimed that the sexual revolution was about expanding personal choice are now seeking to strip away the freedom of people to pursue their self-chosen counseling goals. Instead, they want to force people into narrow boxes, whether they want to live in those boxes or not.

At least that’s the direction things are headed in California, where the state Legislature is rushing through an anti-personal freedom bill, AB 2943.

AB 2943 essentially says that if you begin to experience questions about your gender identity or sexual orientation, you cannot seek help in overcoming those feelings. The only path a person can pursue is to fully embrace and act on those feelings.

Specifically, the bill would outlaw anyone in the state from selling any goods or services to adults to help them address unwanted same-sex attractions or questions over gender identity. It would make it illegal under the state’s consumer protection law to offer “any practices that seek to … change behaviors or gender expressions, or to eliminate or reduce sexual romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same sex.”

Talbot wants tax cap change taken to the voters

EASTON — The property tax “cap” that attracts wealthy landowners to Talbot County, and has in many ways shaped the county's current economy, will be the subject of a ballot question in November if the Talbot County Council has its way.

The council has introduced legislation that keeps the cap in place but raises the bar, so to speak, so the county may garner more funds it desperately needs, according to county officials.

Resolution 230 is an amendment to delete a part of Section 614 of the Talbot County Charter that talks about property taxes and the Consumer Price Index, Urban (CPI-U).

At Tuesday's legislative session, Talbot County Attorney Michael Pullen read that section of the charter as it appears now.

“Notwithstanding any other provisions of this article, from and after July 1, 1997, revenues derived from taxes on properties existing on the Talbot County real tax rolls at the commencement of the County fiscal year shall not increase, compared to the previous year, by more than two percent or by the Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U) percentage of change for the latest calendar year, determined by the U. S. Department of Labor, whichever is the lesser,” Pullen quoted directly from the Charter.

'Hey liberals': Maryland billboard warns foes to grab guns if they try to impeach Trump

“Hey liberals,” it reads. “Better get your guns if you try to impeach President Trump. From all of your deplorables in Calvert County.”

"I love the billboard,” Michelle Rinker said. “We're conservative and there’s a lot of corruption that's happened in this country and I don't think it’s threatening.”

“I’m a Republican but I think it's a little offensive,” Kelly Mazzella said. “I think you can persuade people on the topics and not insult them.”

The Used Car Sweet Spot

Buying a new car is always a bad decision – financially. It doesn’t matter which brand or make or model. You will always lose money.

It’s just a question of how much.

All new cars bleed value like the Titanic took on water after it hit the iceberg. Even the least-“leaky” ones, from brands with high resale value – Toyotas and Hondas, for instance.

Both make great cars – reliable, well-built, etc. But that’s not the issue.

Even the cars which depreciate less horribly than others – those Toyotas and Hondas – still lose about 20 percent of their value during the first 12 months you own them. If you buy a new car for $35,000 – which is the average price paid for a new car – you can expect to take a $7,000 haircut on the car during that first year.

Not counting the additional money you spent on full coverage insurance (based on the replacement cost of a new car) and property taxes, in states/counties that get into your pocket that way, too.

After six or seven years, that $35,000-when-new car will probably have lost about half its value, $17,500. That’s not a haircut.

Eric Swalwell Unloads Gun Platform Liberals Really Want

Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell of California wants to ban assault weapons, instate a federal gun buy-back program for those who own them and criminally prosecute those who refuse to hand them over.

The representative wrote an op-ed in USA Today Thursday rolling out what he feels is the gun control policy America should adopt, one that would take “military-style semiautomatic assault weapons” away from law-abiding citizens and threaten them with jail time if they refuse.

“Reinstating the federal assault weapons ban that was in effect from 1994 to 2004 would prohibit manufacture and sales, but it would not affect weapons already possessed. This would leave millions of assault weapons in our communities for decades to come,” Swalwell wrote. “Instead, we should ban possession of military-style semiautomatic assault weapons, we should buy back such weapons from all who choose to abide by the law, and we should criminally prosecute any who choose to defy it by keeping their weapons.”

Statement from porn star Stormy Daniels says affair with Trump ‘never happened’

Hours before a scheduled appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" to follow President Trump's nationally televised State of the Union address on Tuesday night, porn star Stormy Daniels issued a signed statement addressed "To Whom It May Concern" that denied an alleged affair with Donald Trump.

"The fact of the matter is that each party to this alleged affair denied its existence in 2006, 2011, 2016, 2017 and now again in 2018," the signed statement reads. "I am not denying this affair because I was paid 'hush money' as has been reported in overseas owned tabloids. I am denying it because it never happened."

The alleged affair came to prominence in early January when the Wall Street Journal reported that Trump's longtime attorney Michael Cohen negotiated a secret $130,000 payment to secure Daniels's silence shortly before the 2016 presidential election.

The White House dismissed the story as "old, recycled reports." Cohen also released a statement signed by "Stormy Daniels" denying there had been an affair and calling reports of a payment "completely false."

Trump Tweet Predicted Schneiderman Demise 4.5 Years Ago

Donald Trump suggested New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman would be the next in a line of Democratic New York politicians to end his career in disgrace, more than four years before Schneiderman resigned Monday, hours after allegations he physically abused four women went public.

In September 2013, real estate mogul Donald Trump tweeted that his followers should “wait and see,” because Schneiderman was worse than either his predecessor, Attorney General (and later Governor) Elliot Spitzer, or Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY – both of whom were forced to resign after being caught in high profile sex scandals.

Weiner is gone, Spitzer is gone - next will be lightweight A.G. Eric Schneiderman. Is he a crook? Wait and see, worse than Spitzer or Weiner
