Anyone putting money in the stock market at this point should have their head examined. The fact that the stock market had reached a record high for the ninth day in a row should be enough for any rational person to see that we’re in a bubble of massive proportions. But there’s also the fact that all of the big players in the investment community are backing out of stocks like there’s no tomorrow.
Sovereign wealth funds are pulling their money out of stock markets in developed countries, corporate insiders are selling stocks in their own companies, and infamous investment companies like Goldman Sachs are admitting that there’s a 99% chance that the stock market won’t keep rising like this in the near future. Berkshire Hathaway, the 7th largest company in the S&P 500, is sitting on a $100 billion dollar pile of cash that grows year after year, because as the stock market climbs to new heights, there aren’t many attractive investments left. You can’t buy low and sell high when there are no lows, and that should say a lot about current state of the economy.
The latest damning report on the stock market comes from Barry James, the president of James Advantage Fund. In a recent interview with CNBC he compared the global market to Yellowstone National Park.

Why pregnant women shouldn't use antibacterial soap
Children could become fat if their mother used antibacterial soap during pregnancy, a new study warns.
Full of one toxic chemical, scientists found exposure to the contaminant in the womb can make youngsters obese.
In studies on mice, they showed female offspring to weigh 11 per cent more. Males were 8 per cent heavier on average.
The chemical, called triclocarban (TCC), is passed through both the placenta and through breastfeeding, trials suggest.
Researchers at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, California, said everyday exposure could also lead to 'irreversible' damage in vital organs.

Pat Buchanan Asks "Is The American Empire Worth The Price?"
“When a man knows he is to be hanged in a fortnight,” Samuel Johnson observed, “it concentrates his mind wonderfully.”
And the prospect of a future where Kim Jong Un can put a nuclear weapon on a U.S. city is going to cause this nation to reassess the risks and rewards of the American Imperium.
First, some history.
“Why should Americans be first to die in any second Korean war?” this writer asked in 1999 in “A Republic, Not an Empire.”
“With twice the population of the North and twenty times its economic power, South Korea … is capable of manning its own defense. American troops on the DMZ should be replaced by South Koreans.”
This was denounced as neo-isolationism.

Alabama teacher who 'slept with students' charges dropped
An Alabama high school teacher accused of having sex with two students has had her charges thrown out after a judge ruled it as unconstitutional.
Carrie Witt, 44, was charged in March last year with having sex with the students aged between 16 and 19 years old while teaching at Decatur High School.
The judge dismissed both charges without prejudice on constitutional grounds on Thursday, WHNT reports.
Morgan County Circuit Judge Glenn Thompson said the court found the statute 'unconstitutional' and that there was no proof Witt used her position of authority to force the two students to have sex.

Eviction Incident Renews Need For Seasonal Housing Solutions
OCEAN CITY — Less than a month after nearly two dozen foreign students working in the resort for the summer on J-1 work and travel visas were evicted from substandard housing downtown, a local business owner this week urged the Mayor and Council to address the broader issues associated with overcrowding and poor living conditions.
In July, roughly 20 Irish J-1 students were evicted from their seasonal student housing rentals after it was determined they were living in seasonal housing that exceeded the town’s maximum occupancy codes. City officials including Mayor Rick Meehan and Councilman Wayne Hartman responded and helped work with the displaced foreign summer workers on finding new accommodations for the remainder of their time in Ocean City.
It is certainly not a new issue and has been going on in Ocean City for many years to varying degrees. Last year, the Mayor and Council worked for several months to tighten the town’s maximum occupancy ordinance to at least 40 square feet per occupant and promised stiff inspections and enforcement and yet infractions such as those that surfaced in July still occur and many others go unreported.
During the public comment period of Monday’s Mayor and Council meeting, business owner Shannon Tippett urged the elected officials to further explore ways to improve seasonal workforce housing and step up enforcement in light of last month’s evictions. Tippett spoke from personal experience related to the J-1 employees she hires.

Barry Baker alleges attack at prison
WEST CHESTER >> The man who authorities say assaulted a physically disabled man outside a borough convenience store, throwing what amounted to a “sucker punch” at him, is now claiming that he is the victim of an alleged assault by a corrections officer at the Chester County Prison. The District Attorney’s office said prison officials are investigating the claim.
In a handwritten letter mailed to the Daily Local News last week, Barry Robert Baker Jr. — who identified himself as “the person whom you guys love writing about” — stated that he was assaulted by one of the officers assigned to the protective custody block of the prison where he is being housed.
He said one of the officers attacked him while another acted as a “look out,” and that he suffered a variety of injuries, according to the letter dated Aug. 2. They include a separated shoulder, a concussion, and a seizure.
Baker, 29, of Georgetown, Delaware, and formerly of East Fallowfield, is charged with simple assault and related counts in the May attack on a 22-year-old man who has cerebral palsy. Baker is accused of leveling a punch that caught the man square in the face as he stood beside his car outside the 7-11 store on South High Street in West Chester.

Republicans Strike Back: Congressman Circulates Letter Demanding Mueller Open Hearing
According to an exclusive report from the Daily Caller, Representative Brian Babin (R-TX) has apparently circulated a letter in DC asking for congressmen to sign onto an effort to force special counsel Robert Mueller testify publicly in an open congressional hearing. Among other things, Babin says that Congress has a right to question the independence of Mueller's investigative staff and the scope of his investigation.
Babin’s letter, which was obtained by TheDC, was sent out to congressmen Thursday and asks for members to cosign a letter he plans to send to House Judiciary chairman Bob Goodlatte and Senate Judiciary chairman Chuck Grassley.
“Every nominee for United States Attorney must be confirmed by the Senate, a process that brings to the forefront any concerns regarding the nominee’s ability to hold their position in a decent and impartial manner. However, as Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III and his team of lawyers investigate our very own president, we as a nation wait in the dark with very little information about those given this great authority,” Babin wrote in the letter to his fellow representatives.
Babin writes in the letter that there are “serious concerns” about conflicts of interest with regard to members of Mueller’s counsel who donated “generously” to Democrats or even represented Clinton herself.
“In addition, this investigation has the potential to drag on for months, or even years, and cost millions in taxpayer dollars,” Babin added.
Babin’s goal is to have one or both of the judiciary committees “bring Mr. Mueller and his team out of the shadows” to answer questions about the “potential expenses incurred by Mr. Mueller, the scope of his investigation and the selection of his special council team.”

27 Charges After High-Speed Chase
OCEAN CITY — A New York City man faces 27 charges in Worcester County alone after a high-speed chase that began early last Saturday morning at the Inlet, included several blocks on the Boardwalk and ended when the vehicle broke down near Bethany Beach.
Around 1 a.m. last Saturday, an Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) officer witnessed a vehicle driving erratically in the Inlet parking lot. OCPD officers attempted to stop the vehicle, a white transit van driven by Michael Gallahad, 61, but he exited the Inlet lot onto South 2nd Street. At South 1st Street, Gallahad drove back onto the Boardwalk, causing several pedestrians to quickly move out of the way.
Gallahad continued driving north on the Boardwalk through pedestrian traffic before exiting at North Division Street. No injuries were reported during the segment of the chase on the Boardwalk. Gallahad then drove north on Baltimore Avenue with OCPD officers in pursuit, reaching speeds of over 60 mph at different times.

The Insecurity Of Social Security
According to the June 2017 snapshot from the Social Security Administration, nearly 61.5 million people were receiving a monthly benefit check, of which 68.2% were retired workers. Of these 41.9 million retirees, more than 60% count on their Social Security to be a primary source of income.
Of course, that dependency ratio is directly tied to financial insolvency of the vast majority of Americans. According to a Legg Mason Investment Survey, US baby boomers have on average $263,000 saved in defined contribution plans. But that figure is less than half of the $658,000 they say they will need to retire. As noted by GoBankingRates, more than half of Americans will retire broke.
This is a huge problem that will not only impact boomers in retirement, but also the economy and the financial markets. It also demonstrates just how important Social Security is for current and future generations of seniors.

House Democrat: 'No Way in Hell' Do We Win in 2018 With 'Obvious Obstacle' Pelosi
Democratic Rep. Filemon Vela (Texas) called House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) an "obvious obstacle" to Democrats taking back a majority in the chamber, saying there is "no way in hell" they can do it with her in leadership.
In an interview with BuzzFeed, Vela, whose south Texas district is safely Democratic, said Pelosi was a clear "drag" on candidates in swing districts. Democrats are hoping to win back a majority in the House in 2018 for the first time since losing it to the GOP in 2010.
Historically, the party out of the White House does well in midterms.
"When we go to 2018, if we’re going to win the majority, Democrats have to win swing districts, which means winning independent voters, swing voters, and even Republican moderates," Vela said. "The problem is that in that demographic … it is real clear that the drag on our candidates is Nancy Pelosi."
"If you have an obvious obstacle, why not remove it?" he added.

Failed Drug Test Violates Man’s Probation
SNOW HILL — A local man, sentenced to six years in prison for his role in the death of a Pennsylvania man in Ocean City in August 2014, could be going back to serve out the rest of his term after violating the terms of his probation.
In January 2015, Caleb Edwin-Earl Ochse, now 30, of Ocean City, pleaded guilty to affray, a common law charge essentially indicating he was guilty of participating in a fight in a public place, and was sentenced to six years with all but 18 months suspended. Ochse had been charged with manslaughter for his role in a fight on a downtown street that ultimately led to the death of Justin Cancelliere, 37, of North Whitehall, Pa. on Aug. 24, 2014.
Ochse served the sentence and was placed on supervised probation for two years including routine drug testing. Ochse recently tested positive for a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), which violated the terms of his probation.
As a result, the original case against him has been reopened and he now could be required to serve out the remaining four-and-a-half years of his sentence. A violation of probation hearing has been set for Sept. 1.

Baltimore School With Zero Students Proficient In Math Has Highest Graduation Rate
Baltimore’s community is absolutely stunned after ‘Project Baltimore’, an investigative reporting initiative, which was launched in March 2017, by Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. asked this question: How can a high school with zero students proficient in math, have one of the highest graduation rates in Baltimore City?
Project Baltimore is investigating Northwood Appold Community Academy II, or NACA II, after teachers “contacted us saying grades are being changed so students can graduate”. The school is located in East Baltimore City, Maryland where nearly 1/3 of African Americans have zero net wealth.
The identities of the teachers who contacted Project Baltimore have been masked because they fear retaliation.

Smoking Marijuana Triples Risk Of High Blood Pressure Death, Study Says
BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A new study is warning that people who smoke marijuana have three times the risk of dying from high blood pressure than those who don’t use the drug. Scientists, publishing their findings in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, added that the risk of dying from hypertension grew with each year of smoking marijuana.
The study revealed that of the 1,200 people tested, those who smoked pot were 3.4 times more likely to die from hypertension. The risk of suffering a fatal blood pressure condition also went up by 1.04 times for each year the person had smoked the substance. The study did not find a link between marijuana use and dying from heart diseases or strokes.
Barbara Yankey, co-author of the study and a PhD student at Georgia State University, says the decriminalization of marijuana use in many states has been based on incomplete claims that the drug has positive health benefits.

A Viewer Writes: Flooded business in Salisbury
Good afternoon, I want to say I so enjoy your site, the news you report and your honesty in reporting it.
With the flooding going on, you would think businesses who provide services to others would at least have a plan, or anything to keep the flooding possibly from being worse. My friend has a storage unit on Snow Hill Road, we went to get something out this morning and we saw a mess, water past the entrances into the halls, dumpsters floating, water possibly in the storage units themselves. These customers pay good money to store here, and to see this and know their items could be ruined is upsetting. I will attach a few photos I took, to me this is very heartbreaking and the owner of the place should be looked into as to why a pond in the back is not working to pump water away from people's storage bins, and the water is just sitting.
The attached photos are what I could take without getting shin deep in the water inside the gate.
Hannity: If McConnell can't lead, he should go fishing – or just go away
President Trump continues to slam spineless Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for complaining that Trump has “excessive expectations.” Well, senator, a lot of us who voted Republicans into power share those expectations – as well as the president’s frustration.
“I just want him to get to repeal and replace (of ObamaCare) done,” President Trump said this week. “I've been hearing repeal and replace now for seven years. I said, Mitch, get to work and let's get it done.”
Why doesn’t McConnell have the same sense of urgency the president has? It’s why I have said it is time for McConnell to step aside, something Trump was also asked about.
“Well, I'll tell you what,” Trump said. “If he doesn't get repeal and replace done and if he doesn't get taxes done, meaning cuts and reform, and if he doesn't get a very easy one to get done, infrastructure -- if he doesn't get them done, then you can ask me that question.”
The president's comments came in response to McConnell whining like a 5-year-old, complaining, making excuses to his constituents in Kentucky that the president's expectations are just too high. McConnell doesn’t seem to get that he and his fellow Republicans are the ones who set those excessive expectations. They're the ones who were promised over and over again for seven years they' were going to repeal and replace ObamaCare.

ACLU seeks permanent halt to Va. school’s transgender bathroom policy
WASHINGTON — The American Civil Liberties Union filed paperwork in court to move forward with a lawsuit on behalf of a Virginia transgender student that would permanently halt a policy that prevented him from using the boy’s bathroom.
The ACLU has been representing Gavin Grimm for the past three years in his fight to use the boy’s bathroom at his Gloucester County high school.
The paperwork filed on Friday ends a request for an immediate injunction that would halt the policy — clearing the way for the ACLU to continue fighting for a permanent halt to the school board’s policy.

43 Percent Latent TB Rates Among Refugees Interviewed for Jobs at Starbucks
Recent arrivals from Somalia and other countries in sub-Saharan Africa were among the refugees interviewed for possible jobs by 30 Starbucks managers at a hiring event in El Cajon, California on Tuesday as part of the company’s commitment to hire 10,000 refugees over the next five years.
The latent tuberculosis (TB) rate of 43 percent among refugees in San Diego County from sub-Saharan Africa is more than ten times greater than the latent TB rate of 4 percent found in the general population, according to a 2013 study from a research team led by Dr. Timothy Rodwell, “an associate professor and physician in the Division of Global Health at UCSD [University of California at San Diego].”
Rodwell’s study “analyzed data from LTBI [latent tuberculosis infection] screening results of 4,280 refugees resettled in San Diego County between January 2010 and October 2012,” and found that “[t]he prevalence of LTBI was highest among refugees from sub-Saharan Africa (43%) and was associated with current smoking and having a clinical co-morbidity that increases the risk for active tuberculosis.
Although refugees from sub-Saharan Africa had the highest prevalence of infection, they were significantly less likely to initiate treatment than refugees from the Middle East.”

Fusion GPS Thumbs Its Nose at Congress
The creators of the fake Trump/Russia dossier turn over newspaper clippings rather than the substance.
As the Russian election meddling investigation continues to roll on, a central player has begun to emerge that may turn the entire investigation on its head. That player is research firm Fusion GPS, the organization responsible for creating the debunked, fallacious and salacious Trump/Russia dossier that got the whole ball rolling.
In July, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley subpoenaed Glenn Simpson, co-founder of Fusion GPS, seeking to glean more information about the infamous dossier and related interactions with the FBI.
Initially Simpson refused to testify, pleading the Fifth Amendment, but a deal was later reached in which the subpoena was withdrawn in exchange for Simpson’s agreement to disclose “his involvement in creating the Trump dossier and interactions with the FBI” and “his alleged work with the unregistered foreign agents who met with the Trump family and campaign officials.”
Fast-forward to Thursday, when Fusion GPS turned over documents related to the Trump dossier. What was actually received by Senate Judiciary Committee, however, was described by spokesman George Hartmann as “mostly news clippings,” not a record of Fusion GPS’s substantive communications.

Mt. Hermon Road Near Tilghman
Ladies & Gentlemen, I've been told by a County Employee that they are putting out cones on roads the County has closed and people are removing the cones and trying to drive through.
Well, guess what, their vehicles are getting stuck in the flood waters and getting completely destroyed/totaled. So the joke is on YOU!
I suggested they also fine these people who are removing the cones, we'll see what happens. Just plain stupidity.

Donald Trump has HAD IT with Mitch McConnell’s bucket of suck
Is the time of Senator Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., as majority leader in the U.S. Senate coming to an end? If not an end, certainly a turning point.
The American people believe, rightly, that the Congress under the leadership of McConnell and Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., hasn’t done much. Nearly seven in 10 Americans (68 percent) judge the Republican-controlled Congress a failure, according to a new CNN poll. The approval rating of Republican leadership has fallen to a dismal 24 percent.
And why shouldn’t Americans think Congress has failed? The Republicans broke their number one campaign promise from the past seven years in their unwillingness to repeal Obamacare. In more than six months of unified Republican government, the GOP has yet to deliver on the core pieces of President Trump’s legislative agenda.
Can McConnell do it? Even as the president criticizes Sen. McConnell’s lame excuses, other Republicans are beginning to show signs of irritation with the majority leader.
McConnell’s failures are demonstrable, and his plan for future legislative success is unclear. This fall, Republicans in Congress will face several challenges as the debt limit, funding for the government, and tax reform dominate the business of the Senate.
What is McConnell’s plan?
So far, it seems Republicans will pass a clean debt limit increase without extracting a single policy concession from the Left. And as long as McConnell adamantly refuses to consider a government shutdown, Democrats hold all the negotiating power over the budget.

Students Lay Groundwork for Free-Expression Fights on Campuses
University students have been laying the groundwork over summer vacation for a fight for freedom of expression that they hope to take to student governments and administrations across the country.
A group named Students for Free Expression has representatives from 20 schools, including one in Mexico, that have committed to bringing resolutions in defense of free speech before their peers at the start of the fall semester.
Matthew Foldi, the University of Chicago student who founded the initiative, said the students plan to begin with DePaul University in Illinois and Ohio's Oberlin College, which he described as "awful" on freedom of expression. If the resolutions can pass through those student governments, Foldi said it would prove that "anywhere is possible."
"It's a win-win for us. Even if the attempts don't work out, we would show that students are advocating for this," said Foldi. "If students could go and say, ‘We want this and it failed,' it shows that the student government is not listening to its constituents."

Teachers stunned by Project Baltimore discovery: “I don’t think it’s possible.”
BALTIMORE, Md. (WBFF) -- How can a high school with zero students proficient in math, have one of the highest graduation rates in Baltimore City?
It’s a question Project Baltimore is asking after teachers from Northwood Appold Community Academy II, or NACA II, contacted us saying grades are being changed so students can graduate.
“I don’t think it’s possible,” says one of the teachers who sat down with Fox45. We’re disguising their identities because the educators fear retaliation.
“You should think at least one. But none? Wow!” says the other teacher.
None. Zero. It’s a number that also got our attention.

China’s New Long-Range Missile
Amid growing fears of North Korean nuclear missile threats, China recently showed off a new and more lethal long-range nuclear missile of its own.
The DF-31AG, a variant of the DF-31 road-mobile intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), was unveiled July 30 during the annual military parade marking the founding of the People’s Liberation Army.
Chinese state-run television’s broadcast of the parade showed at least 16 of the new DF-31AGs during a parade in Zhurihe near a combat training base in northern China.
Few details were available on the new missile, shown mounted on an all-terrain mobile launcher. Chinese state media declared the missile carries multiple warheads and boasts a longer range than its earlier variants, the DF-31 and DF-31A. The all-terrain mobile launcher represents greater survivability of the missile system against preemptive airstrikes because the DF-31AG will be capable of hiding in mountainous areas.
China has been uploading its single-warhead missiles with multiple, independently targetable re-entry vehicles or MIRVs, for the past three years. The earlier DF-31 variants are equipped with a single warhead.
The disclosure of the DF-31AG was not a surprise. U.S. intelligence agencies have known of the development for the past several years.

Breaking News: After white nationalists and neo-Nazis faced off with counter-protesters in Charlottesville, Va., a state of emergency was declared
The governor of Virginia declared a state of emergency in Charlottesville on Saturday as a protest of a plan to remove a statue of a Confederate general turned violent, leaving several people injured and threatening to plunge the area into chaos.
Protesters clashed in the historic college town on Saturday, as white nationalists — some waving Confederate flags, chanting Nazi-era slogans, wearing helmets and carrying shields — converged on the statue of Robert E. Lee in the city’s Emancipation Park and the surrounding streets, and as the police retreated. The protest was the apparent culmination of more than a year of debate and division over the fate of the statue.

John Bolton: U.S. Should Suggest to China the Reunification of the Korean Peninsula
Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton proposed reunification as the solution to the North Korean nuclear missile crisis on Friday’s Breitbart News Daily with SiriusXM host Alex Marlow.
Bolton said President Trump has “made it clear that this is a different president than the one that North Korea and China have faced for the last eight years.”
“I don’t think people should underestimate the importance of making that distinction,” he advised. “We in America see great differences among our various presidents. A lot of foreigners don’t see the differences that we see. For many years, people have talked about all options being on the table, to the point where it’s just like a verbal tic. Nobody pays any attention to it. I think to get China’s attention in particular, tough talk has been warranted.”
“Now, I do think there’s a limit to it,” he added. “I think it’s very important as well that the president understands that as he makes these kinds of remarks, it gets harder and harder to back away from a very tough stance without risking grave damage to his credibility.”
“Nobody wants to see the military option employed, but the choice that Americans face is very stark,” Bolton warned. “This is a crisis we’re in, and the choice is: Are you prepared from now until infinity to see North Korea have the capability to hit targets in the United States with nuclear weapons? Because if we allow things to proceed as they are, that’s what is going to happen.”

SHOCK: Anti-Trump activist accused of executing PA GOP leader after ‘dispute’
A rabid anti-Trump West Goshen resident is accused of killing his neighbor and prominent GOP committeeman in the latest chapter of an ongoing feud that came to a boil late Monday night.
Police allege 51-year-old Clayton Carter III and GOP committeeman Brooks Jennings got into a dispute about video recording and cursing in the back yard around 8 p.m. Monday. PennLive reports Carter pulled a gun on Jennings during the argument but officers resolved the conflict.
But another dispute broke out around 1 a.m., when Carter alleges Jennings shined a light in his face while outside, prompting him to park his car on Jennings’ front lawn with his high beams aimed at the residence, WPVI reports.
Carter allegedly got out of the car, confronted Jennings with a .380 Ruger and the two argued before Carter shot him in the head. Jennings fell to the ground, and his wife looked out just in time to see Carter standing over her husband as he allegedly shot Jennings a second time in the head.

Mr. Trump Wins Round One with North Korea
The mainstream media are aghast at President Donald Trump’s comments on North Korea as he promises “fire and fury” and warns that American military solutions are “locked and loaded.”
The political elite, and the foreign policy establishment, oscillate between bitter scorn and sheer panic at his tactics. But one does not have to be convinced of Trump’s rhetorical genius to note that he has already re-framed the conflict in a way that is advantageous to the U.S.
First, Trump has radically changed the costs of a potential conflict, for both sides. The dominant paradigm of nuclear face-offs is mutually assured destruction (MAD), which is why the Soviet Union and the U.S. never attacked each other during the Cold War. Most of the discussion about North Korea has followed the same pattern, because of the threat of ICBMs to the U.S. mainland. After Trump threatened to annihilate North Korea, however, Kim Jong-un threatened to attack … Guam. Trump doubled down, indicating that a North Korean attack on Guam would trigger an attack against the regime. That shifted the costs of a war radically in our favor and against theirs.
Second, it is noteworthy that..

** MARYLAND WOMAN ARRESTED FOR COUNTERFEIT RIDE TICKETS **
Marilyn Hammerman, 81, of Rockville, Md. was arrested Wednesday (08/09/17) evening after attempting to use counterfeit tickets to access the rides at Funland in Rehoboth Beach.
At around 7:31pm, Rehoboth Beach Police were called to Funland for a report that a patron had provided counterfeit tickets to an employee to ride the bumper cars. The employee, who had worked at Funland for several years, recognized the tickets provided by Hammerman as being fraudulent from past incidents and immediately contacted management. Police were eventually called to the scene as Hammerman was in possession of approximately 20 fraudulent tickets. Hammerman was arrested and charged later Wednesday evening following an investigation into the allegations.
Hammerman was arrested and charged with 1 count of theft of services under $1500.00, a misdemeanor. Hammerman was released on a $100.00 unsecured bail.
