"Light It Up Blue"
This evening, Government House is lit blue as part of the "Light It Up Blue" campaign in recognition of "World Autism Awareness Day." I have also declared April "World Autism Awareness Month" here in Maryland in hopes of bringing attention to and leading to more research and better understanding of autism spectrum disorder.
Breaking News: The University of South Carolina has claimed its first women's basketball title with a 67-55 victory over Mississippi State
South Carolina won its first women’s N.C.A.A. basketball title on Sunday with a victory that represented a diversity of opportunity both for coaches and teams playing for a championship.
With a 67-55 win over Mississippi State, a fellow member of the Southeastern Conference, Dawn Staley became the second African-American coach to win a title since the N.C.A.A. began sponsoring a women’s basketball tournament in 1982. Carolyn Peck coached Purdue to the 1999 championship.

MD Legislators: Should they be held Legally Accountable?
By Thornton Crowe
Community Trust is just Dem-speak for Feel good, warm fuzzy legislature, endangering communities!
Marice Morales |
Sponsored by Morales and 78 fellow Democrat legislators, this action represents another ‘fast-one‘ by a legislative body without consent of the people that leaves many to wonder:
Is it time to hold legislators personally responsible criminally and/or civilly for the legislation they pass when it endangers the public at large?
The arguments are obvious for this measure because if legislators had to personally face repercussions, it would probably curtail a lot of legislative measures unpopular with the general public. If they had civil or possibly legal responsible for their complicity in violating Federal Immigration Laws, then it would make perfect logical sense they would stop endangering their communities under the guise of feel-good social justice warrioring. The truth is, they are needlessly enabling criminals for false sense of altruism while putting our families and friends in serious harm’s way. This is not their job objective – never has been; never will be.
When querying other states who have the same predicament, many voters have stated they did not want to become sanctuary areas. Surprisingly, as much as 86% of the largely liberal California population indicates they don’t want sanctuary status. Residents know all too well what havoc illegal aliens have reeked on cities like Los Angeles and San Diego for decades.
Gov. Larry Hogan (R) |
Maryland Governor Larry Hogan (R) has already stated he will VETO the bill should it land on his desk; however, the Maryland Assembly has a nasty history of overriding his VETOs; such as the bill where they forced solar energy on Maryland, a big loser for the state’s residents – without voter approval.
In the meantime, it is worth a shot that should you become a victim of a crime perpetrated by an illegal alien, get a lawyer and find out which representative in addition to Morales to sue — file the lawsuit (and by all means, let us know!)
Ironically, this is puts our state in a dicey situation because they were looking to woe the federal government into building the new FBI Headquarters in the area; however, this defiance of federal law is not the way to win friends (or contracts) and influence people in the District of Columbia – especially with Federal Law Enforcement Agencies.
What are Maryland legislators thinking? Better question is: Are they even thinking at all?

Joe,
Just eat, 6:05pm, at the taco Bell / Kentucky Fried Chicken in front of KMart. Very terrible experience. The help could care less if you got waited on and there was no need in it , since I counted 6 workers. There were no condiments, napkins or straws out. You had to ask for them. the counters appeared to not have been cleaned for hours. The floors had not been swept or mopped for hours, since there was food and drinks spilled and walked in. Trash was all over the floors and under the tables. I can only guess what the food area looked like or when it was last cleaned properly. I do not or would not recommend this place to eat. It is a wonder the Health Dept. has not closed them down. Hopefully those reading this will stay away from there. Hopefully I will not get food poison since I was stupid and eat the food instead of throwing it away and go over to the gas station to get me home.

Boy Wonder Mayor Jake Day Wants To Buy Your Vote
Tonight, somewhere in Salisbury, Mayor Jake Day is holding a cookout giving away free burgers and hot dogs. I'm told he's been going door to door in Salisbury also giving away free smoke detectors.
His concern is that while he allegedly claims to have an open door policy for people to come speak to him, he feels he needs to reach out to the public because of his lack of doing anything at all.
However, it's not like Day is visiting Riverside Drive. No, instead, Day is visiting the west si eede of Salisbury. I guess lobsters and crabs weren't in the budget.
Your tax dollars buying votes. Leave it to a Liberal.
By the way, the image above is from Jake Day and not something we put together. It was on his Facebook page.

Drive slow in the left lane? Md. considering a crackdown
WASHINGTON — It’s a lesson you’re taught all the way back in driver’s education: slower traffic keeps right so you can pass in the left lane.
In this area, people sometimes slow traffic down in the left lane, anyway, creating a convoy of agitated highway users who can’t get around because too many other cars are passing them on the right already.
But should failure to abide by those lessons, learned along ago by some drivers, result in a ticket?
According to one Maryland lawmaker, the answer is yes.

A Comment Worthy Of A Post: Could It Be True?
Joe a few weeks ago you published a post about the WCSO having bought motorcycles. It seems as they have claimed their first victim, one of the deputies went down near the Shorebirds Stadium and has a very bad broken ankle and some other injuries. It is rumored he may have to go on disability.

Unsolicited Newspapers, call it what it is; LITTERING! They blow all over the place, so having the "do not deliver" is easy to get out of.
It's littering, Greg Bassett, and littering is punishable by a fine of $500- $1500 for each house you commit the crime at! And on the street as well! Jake Day and his City Minions need to stop taking Greg's bribes and grow a pair. L I T T E R I N G !!!!!
Same out here in the County, Greg, and I'll have Bob Culver inform you of that as well!
State Rep DuBois has a message for those who don't support her tipping off drug dealers about ICE raids
This story is blowing up. Every media outlet is covering it. If you missed it this morning, State Rep Michelle DuBois (D-Brockton) started a social media firestorm when she tipped off illegals that ICE was in Brockton and about to raid.

First steps taken toward ice hockey at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center
Salisbury, MD – Wicomico County took the first step toward recruiting an ice hockey franchise to the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center on Friday.
Wicomico County Executive Bob Culver and Jim Calpin, president of Paramount Sports Services, met to sign an agreement during a news conference at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center. The agreement authorizes Calpin to bring together an interested ownership group and ice hockey franchise that would be housed in the Civic Center.
Calpin has worked for teams in the United States Hockey League and ECHL, and he has extensive knowledge and connections in the field. Paramount Sports Services is his sports consulting firm, which provides comprehensive services for the business operations of sports franchises.
He’s also familiar with the Delmarva region.
“With regards to looking at the community and looking at the demographic numbers, I feel that it’d be a very, very good fit to have hockey here in this arena,” Calpin said.
This first step in the process comes at no cost to the County. Next steps include finding an appropriate league and an ownership group that would call the Civic Center home and obtaining necessary funding to make building improvements.
Some improvements to the building have already been made. Culver spoke of the Civic Center’s recent progress, including renovations such as new arena seats, painting and floor replacement. The Civic Center also started selling beer and wine in mid-November.
Calpin mentioned two leagues that are on his radar: the Southern Professional Hockey League and the ECHL. Calpin noted that a team could play at the Civic Center as early as October 2018 or possibly 2019 depending on the timing of funding and building improvements that would need to come together.
The ice rink could be used for more than just minor league hockey, including events such as public skates or programs for children.
“We’ll be able to develop youth leagues,” Culver said.
Culver said ice hockey would be an additional asset to the Civic Center – bringing additional nights of events – and would not take away from existing types of entertainment.
“We want to make this a community thing,” he said.

De Blasio: Being A Sanctuary City Means Less Terrorism
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said Monday that New Yorkers will be at risk of terror if Attorney General Jeff Sessions follows through on cutting federal law enforcement grants to sanctuary cities.
Sessions appeared at the White House to say that jurisdictions that ignore immigration detainers will lose Department of Justice grants, which total $4.1 billion for the upcoming fiscal year.
“President Trump’s latest threat changes nothing. We will remain a city welcoming of immigrants who have helped make our city the safest big city in the nation,” de Blasio said in response. “Any attempt to cut NYPD funding for the nation’s top terror target will be aggressively fought in court. We won’t back down from protecting New Yorkers from terror – or from an overzealous administration fixated on xenophobia and needless division.”

Congresswoman utilizes Facebook to warn illegals of ICE raids
On Tuesday, Massachusetts state Rep. Michelle DuBois used her Facebook page to give a heads-up to illegal aliens about scheduled Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids.
In her posts, DuBois lists and pinpoints rumored addresses where raids are expected to take place. She also provides phone numbers to legal representatives in areas where raids are occurring.
In addition, DuBois provides an information graphic on what illegal immigrants should do if “ICE comes to [the] door.”

Girl, 5, suspended for playing with 'stick gun' during playground game
A North Carolina mother says her 5-year-old daughter was suspended from school after she was found playing with a stick that resembled a gun.
Brandy Miller said her daughter Caitlin was suspended for one day on Friday after she and her two friends were playing "King and Queen" at her school in Hoke County, North Carolina, ABC affiliate WTVD reported Tuesday.
In the game, Caitlin played a guard, protecting the royals, and picked up the "stick gun" to imitate shooting an intruder into the kingdom.

Baltimore population falls, nearing a 100-year low, U.S. Census says
Baltimore leaders have celebrated signs that the city appeared to have stopped hemorrhaging residents — and might even be gaining people.
But new federal estimates show the city population falling to near a 100-year low.
Baltimore's population fell by more than 6,700 people in the 12 months that ended July 2016, the U.S. Census Bureau reported Thursday, as the number of people leaving the city for other parts of the United States doubled.
The decline wiped out the city's meager gains under Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, who sought to draw 10,000 families to the city. And the loss came as the city grapples with rising crime, a homicide spike, a school budget gap and the fallout from the death of Freddie Gray.

Town Hall Meeting With Congressman Harris Out Of Control
Last night at the Chesapeake College Congressman Andy Harris held a Town Hall Meeting that, quite frankly, was completely out of control.
Liberals were constantly disruptive, screaming and yelling and not following the rules the college set in advance.
How Congressman Harris stood for so many disruptions and out of control Liberals is beyond me. They were acting like out of control children, completely ignoring and disrespecting any sort of decency and adult behavior.
This event proves that the Liberals of the Eastern Shore are not only ignorant, from this point forward need to be completely ignored and that includes the Liberal News outlets. Cut them all off.

Parents and Public Outraged As MD Set To Become First “Sanctuary State”
We recently published a story on the 14-year old Maryland high school student who was allegedly raped and sodomized by two illegal immigrants. The brutal attack has drawn outrage from both citizens and government officials.
Adding fuel to the fire, the Maryland House passed legislation, just four days after the rape, that will make MD the first “sanctuary state” in America. A Fox News Special Report highlighted the growing tensions.
Fox News’ Doug McKelway interviewed the defense attorney for Henry Sanchez-Milian, who was one of the teenagers accused of the rape. The 17-year old was allowed into the country by immigration officials in Texas-after being caught at the Mexican border.
Milian’s attorney told McKelway that his client is “innocent” and the sex was “consensual”. He also added that there was no physical evidence to support the young victim’s claims. However, local authorities disagree and assert that evidence, such as blood and bodily fluids, collected at the scene indicates “no consent whatsoever.”

Al Sharpton Attacks Ivanka Trump – This Is Despicable
Al Sharpton’s already-damaged reputation is about to take another hit. The activist that nobody wants to hear from is once again sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong, and this time, he’s attacking Ivanka Trump.
Sharpton railed against Ivanka being given a position in her father’s administration, and compared her to Barack Obama’s daughters. “If President Barack Obama had given his daughters or his mother-in-law an office and some access to classified documents and cleared security status, they would have run him and everybody else out (of) the White House,” Sharpton argued. He was referring to Sasha and Malia Obama, and Marian Robinson, mother of Michelle Obama, who lived in the White House with the Obama family.
The fact that Ivanka will not be receiving a salary made no difference to Sharpton.
“Giving a office on the West Wing of Ivanka Trump, somebody explain to me how you can give security clearance, access to classified material, and a office to somebody that don’t have a title or job?” Sharpton said. “They say now she ain’t got no title. She ain’t got no role. We ain’t payin’ her no money. But she can see everything classified.”
Sharpton is far from the only critic of Trump’s decision to give Ivanka an office in the West Wing with access to classified information. Social media lit up with complaints after the news broke.

Md. Dems want Hogan to speak out against Trump policies
SILVER SPRING, Md. — Maryland Democratic lawmakers attacked Gov. Larry Hogan on Monday for not speaking out against President Donald Trump’s policy proposals involving the budget, health care and federal workers, which state officials said could have devastating effects on state residents.
More than a dozen people — led by Maryland House Majority Leader Del. Bill Frick and state Sen. Rich Madaleno — called for the Republican governor to take a position against the president.
They focused mostly on two issues: Republican attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act and Trump’s proposed budget, which Hogan’s office has said would be scrutinized more carefully should any of the president’s proposals ever become law.
Both Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill have said the president’s budget blueprint has no chance of passing the Congress. But the proposals still have state officials worried.

Paid off my mortgage today. The company called Friday to tell me that my payment was late. I have paid through automatic withdrawal from my NFCU account, and have never, ever missed a payment in the fifteen years I've been paying. The rep gave me a final amount of $1130, which had to be sent via bank check. On Saturday, I got a paper bill from them with a request for $1700+, with a $29 late payment fee. Today, Monday, I called them and asked what my final payment would be. After negotiating for the late fee to be removed, the final number was $1070, and that I wouldn't have to get a cashier's check, that a personal check would do.

Delaware: Lawmakers introduce bill to legalize marijuana
DOVER — Lawmakers on Thursday filed a bill that would make Delaware the ninth state to legalize marijuana.
The measure, sponsored by 13 Democrats and one Republican, would allow individuals at least 21 years old to use cannabis in their home. Using marijuana in public would still be illegal, and individuals would be restricted from growing the drug or possessing more than one ounce.
“Reefer madness. We should never have agreed to allow that image to be prolonged to that extent. That’s ridiculous,” Rep. John Kowalko, D-Newark, said at a news conference, accompanied by cannabis advocates.

Hundreds confront Harris at health care town hall
Rep. Andy Harris, Maryland's only Republican in Congress, confronted hundreds of voters at a town hall meeting on the Eastern Shore late Friday that rapidly devolved into a shouting match over the Trump administration, immigration and GOP efforts to repeal the Obamacare health law.
In a reliably Republican congressional district, Harris faced jeers as he tried to explain his opposition to the 2010 health care law, and was met with chants of "No wall!" as he defended President Donald Trump's plan to crack down on illegal immigration and cut funding for education, housing and other domestic programs.
Scheduled weeks ago, the town hall meeting was among the first in the nation since the Republican-led House of Representatives abruptly abandoned legislation to overhaul Obamacare. The retreat was a blow to Trump, who had hoped the GOP would quickly coalesce around a six-year-old promise to repeal law.

Maryland legislators propose using marijuana to treat heroin addiction
Maryland lawmakers have a new idea to fight the deadly heroin epidemic that has swept across the state: Treat addicts with medical marijuana.
A House of Delegates committee agreed to tuck the proposal into a bill that would extensively rewrite the laws governing the state's medical marijuana program. The bill, to be considered by the full House Friday, would add "opioid use disorder" to the list of medical conditions physicians can cite when recommending medical marijuana to patients.
"With the problems we're having with heroin, this is something that should be available in the state of Maryland," said Del. Cheryl Glenn, a Baltimore Democrat and chair of the influential Legislative Black Caucus.

MD Senate gives final approval to fracking ban
Maryland’s Senate gave final approval Monday night to a permanent ban on hydraulic fracturing for natural gas, making the state the second in the nation with known gas reserves to ban the practice.
By a vote of 35 to 10, the Senate sent the bill banning “fracking,” as it’s commonly called, to Gov. Larry Hogan, who recently indicated he supports it. The House earlier had given its overwhelming approval to the same measure.
The bill’s passage makes Maryland the second state in the nation with proven natural gas reserves to ban fracking. New York banned it by executive order; Vermont has banned it by legislation, but lacks known gas reserves.
The vote all but ends a six-year debate about whether to permit fracking in western Maryland, which sits atop a gas-rich Marcellus Shale deposit that stretches from New York into North Carolina.

NBC News: Hillary Clinton ‘Covered Up’ Pedophile Ring At State Department
An NBC news report claims that Hillary Clinton, while secretary of state, shut down an investigation into an elite pedophile ring in State Department ranks in order to avoid scandal and protect the careers of high ranking officials and an ambassador.
The NBC investigation was broadcast at a time when they were a real news organization rather than a branch of the Democratic Party’s PR department, and provided internal State Department memos to back up claims of a massive Hillary Clinton elite pedophile ring cover-up.
“Serious allegations concerning the State Department,” the NBC anchor announced, before launching into the disturbing details that mainstream media would be unable to report on in 2017.
“According to internal State Department memos the agency might have called off or intervened into investigations into possibly illegal, inappropriate behavior within it’s ranks allegedly to protect jobs and avoid scandals.
“This concerns a time when Hillary Clinton was secretary of state.”

McCormick will stop packing Old Bay, black pepper in metal cans
McCormick & Co. Inc.'s iconic metal cans for its black pepper and Old Bay seasonings are about to become a thing of the past.
At the Sparks-based spice maker's annual shareholders meeting Wednesday, CEO Lawrence Kurzius said black pepper and Old Bay will be packaged in fully recyclable plastic containers as part of the company's efforts to be environmentally friendly. Shareholders were given a sample run of the new cans as part of a gift bag.
In a message included in the bag, McCormick said it expects to launch the new packaging on store shelves nationwide by the end of the summer. The packages will have the same quantities of spice as they did in the tin cans.
McCormick (NYSE: MKC) said the change will reduce its carbon emissions by 16 percent.

Moms Advertise ‘Barbie Hijabs’ To Train Kids On ‘Inclusiveness’: ‘They will grow into a kinder generation’
Hello Hijab! That’s the inappropriately cute sounding name for the latest in garments of oppression available for Barbie and other fashion dolls. That’s right, three moms decided to make hijabs for their daughter’s dolls. Because what better way to teach your girls about women’s equality than to create adorable miniature headwear worn by oppressed women in Muslim cultures all over the world?
Hello Hijab is a nonprofit founded by Gisele Fetterman, Safaa Bokhari and Kristen Michaels. They claim that putting hijabs on dolls will promote inclusiveness and make for a “kinder generation.” Each little tiny woman-oppressing headscarf will cost about $6.00. And isn’t that quite a bargain for the privilege of teaching little girls how to “tolerate” the misogynistic oppression engaged in by hard core Muslim cultures? The website says, “Hello Hijab is made in Pittsburgh, with love. 100% of proceeds support organizations that protect and honor our multicultural communities.”
There are a few problems with this endeavor. One, Barbie’s image is one of a free, intelligent, accomplished woman who confidently displays her hair and face to the world. Two, every Barbie movie ever made rightly portrays her as her own person, not a subservient woman under the thumb of a radical religion, not oppressed by the males in the movie and not forced to abide by the 6th century rules of an archaic culture. Barbie is meant to show young girls they can achieve their dreams. And no little girl dreams of wrapping herself up in headscarves and floor length robes to hide who they are from the world in order to avoid being stoned, beaten or beheaded for blasphemy. Sorry ladies, you’ve chosen an extremely inappropriate way to teach your girls “inclusiveness,” Hard line Muslim cultures are not inclusive. They are oppressive.

The Civil War is Here
A civil war has begun.
This civil war is very different than the last one. There are no cannons or cavalry charges. The left doesn’t want to secede. It wants to rule. Political conflicts become civil wars when one side refuses to accept the existing authority. The left has rejected all forms of authority that it doesn’t control.
The left has rejected the outcome of the last two presidential elections won by Republicans. It has rejected the judicial authority of the Supreme Court when it decisions don’t accord with its agenda. It rejects the legislative authority of Congress when it is not dominated by the left.
It rejected the Constitution so long ago that it hardly bears mentioning.
It was for total unilateral executive authority under Obama. And now it’s for states unilaterally deciding what laws they will follow. (As long as that involves defying immigration laws under Trump, not following them under Obama.) It was for the sacrosanct authority of the Senate when it held the majority. Then it decried the Senate as an outmoded institution when the Republicans took it over.
It was for Obama defying the orders of Federal judges, no matter how well grounded in existing law, and it is for Federal judges overriding any order by Trump on any grounds whatsoever. It was for Obama penalizing whistleblowers, but now undermining the government from within has become “patriotic”.

Legislature grants Frosh $1M to sue feds over Trump policies
By Dan Menefee
For MarylandReporter.com
The Maryland Senate today passed, HB913, the Maryland Defense Act of 2017 – mandating that the administration fund five new attorneys in the Office of the Attorney General to sue the federal government — at a cost of $1 million annually.
The measure passed the Senate 30-15, a veto-proof majority. It is one of about two dozen bills delivered to Gov. Larry Hogan yesterday. He has only six days, not counting Sunday, to sign, veto or let the bills become law. Hogan has criticized the new powers for the attorney general, and is generally opposed to spending mandates.
The legislature would have time to override any veto by the time it adjourns April 10.

Muslims Angrily Fight Proposals To Ban Sharia Law in America…
Here it comes. Muslims in the US are gearing up for a fight. They are not only going to battle President Trump’s travel ban… they are going after our laws and courts. They will systematically hit them state to state, city to city. They are claiming religions persecution, but this is a move to introduce Shariah law into our legal system. That must not happen. It will destroy the rule of law and abrogate our constitutional rights as Americans.
If Muslims are unhappy with our system of laws here in the United States, they should go to a country that practices Shariah Law. It’s an easy fix. But that’s not the point, is it? This is about conquering America from within. Anti-Shariah bills have been submitted in states across the nation in order to stave off this legal onslaught. Shariah law is pernicious… it will change our society forever if allowed to stand in the US.

Coast Guard returns to port with major 16-ton drug haul
In less than a month, the US Coast Guard seized 16 tons of cocaine worth $420 million in a South and Central American drug bust, according to reports on Tuesday.
The street value of the drugs was reportedly more than $1 billion.
“The drugs were found over a 26-day period through 17 drug-smuggling interdictions along Central and South America,” said Coast Guard officials, “and more than 30 alleged drug smugglers were arrested.”
Coast Guard and Canadian ships working with the Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment team patrolled the coasts, with the biggest seizures made by the Coast Guard Cutter James and the Coast Guard’s helicopter squad.

Attorney General Sessions urges Maryland not to become sanctuary state
WASHINGTON - During the White House press briefing Monday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions took questions from reporters after he urged sanctuary cities to change their policies toward illegal immigrants.
Sessions said the Justice Department intends to begin punishing sanctuary cities by cutting federal grants from jurisdictions that refuse to honor detainer requests from Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
A reporter in the briefing room then asked Sessions if anyone from the Department of Justice has had any conversation with Montgomery County or Rockville, Maryland officials about the alleged rape of a 14-year-old Rockville High School student by two undocumented immigrants also enrolled at the school.

Missouri
Missouri has no illegal's; go figure.. Shouldn't the other states do the same? Missouri's approach to the problem of illegal immigration appears to be more advanced, sophisticated, strict and effective than anything to date in Arizona . Does the White House appreciate what Missouri has done? So, why doesn't Missouri receive attention? Answer: There are no illegal's in Missouri to demonstrate.
The "Show Me" state has again shown us how it should be done. There needs to be more publicity and exposure regarding what Missouri has done. Please pass this around.
In 2007, Missouri placed on the ballot a proposed constitutional amendment designating English as the official language of Missouri . In November, 2008, nearly 90% voted in favor! Thus, English became the official language for ALL governmental activity in Missouri . No individual has the right to demand government services in a language OTHER than English.
In 2008, a measure was passed that required the Missouri Highway Patrol and other law enforcement officials to verify the immigration status of any person arrested, and inform federal authorities if the person is found to be in Missouri illegally. Missouri law enforcement officers receive specific training with respect to enforcement of federal immigration laws.
In Missouri, illegal immigrants do NOT have access to taxpayer benefits such as food stamps or health care through Missouri Health NET.
In 2009, a measure was passed that ensures Missouri 's public institutions of higher education do NOT award financial aid to individuals who are illegally in the United States .
In Missouri all post-secondary institutions of higher education are required to annually certify to the Missouri Dept. Of Higher Education that they have NOT knowingly awarded financial aid to students who are unlawfully present in the United States .
So, while Arizona has made national news for its new law, it is important to remember, Missouri has been far more proactive in addressing this horrific problem. Missouri has made it clear that illegal immigrants are NOT WELCOME in the state and they will NOT receive public benefits at the expense of Missouri taxpayers.
