Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Terrence Cody is under investigation for animal cruelty, Baltimore County police spokeswoman Elise Armacost said.
The Ravens announced on Friday that the team intends to terminate Cody's contract following the Super Bowl. They have not commented on the animal cruelty investigation or whether the termination of Cody's contract is related to it.

The Tea Party: "Establishment" Republicans Need Not Apply
“RINOs,” NOT DEMOCRATS GET BEAT UP AT SOUTH CAROLINA CONVENTION
What was the main theme at this week’s S.C. Tea Party Coalition convention in Myrtle Beach,S.C.? Surprisingly, it didn’t involve anyone chanting “END THE FED;” “9/11 Truth Now; “chemtrails are real, y’all;” or “return to the gold standard,” as I had previously suspected.
Nor was anyone wearing a tin foil hat with their “Ron Paul Revolution” t-shirt … at least not that I could see.
Rather, the rallying cry was a constant, caustic refrain against “Republicans in Name Only” coming from both the Tea Party attendees and the speakers eager to win their votes. Every prospective presidential hopeful had something negative to say about these moderate Republicans—some with a more gusto than others.
The targets? Former GOP nominee Mitt Romney, former Florida governor Jeb Bush and New Jersey governor Chris Christie – all of whom are eying 2016 bids of their own.
Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum – ever the “clean fighter” – danced around the topic and dodged pointed questions.
“Do you think wealthy people care whether their president cares about them? No,” he said, referencing an exit poll question about which 2012 candidate cared more about the voters.

OCPD CRASH RECONSTRUCTIONISTS INVESTIGATE SINGLE VEHICLE COLLISION
On January 23, at approximately 7 a.m. Ocean City Police and Paramedics responded to the area of Baltimore Avenue and 6th Street in reference to single-vehicle traffic collision. The driver was unconscious when officers arrived and CPR was initiated. Ocean City EMS transported the driver to Atlantic General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased upon arrival. The driver has been identified as Walter Milan Corey, 56, of Ocean City, MD.
Members of the Ocean City Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit responded and later determined that the vehicle had veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole. Police are unsure at this time what caused Corey to veer off the roadway. Autopsy results from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are pending.
MIT Climate Scientist: Global Warming Believers a 'Cult'
An MIT professor of meteorology is dismissing global-warming alarmists as a discredited “cult” whose members are becoming more hysterical as emerging evidence continues to contradict their beliefs.
During an appearance on this writer’s radio show Monday, MIT Professor emeritus Richard Lindzen discussed the religious nature of the movement.
“As with any cult, once the mythology of the cult begins falling apart, instead of saying, oh, we were wrong, they get more and more fanatical. I think that’s what’s happening here. Think about it,” he said. “You’ve led an unpleasant life, you haven’t led a very virtuous life, but now you’re told, you get absolution if you watch your carbon footprint. It’s salvation!”
Lindzen, 74, has issued calm dismissals of warmist apocalypse, reducing his critics to sputtering rage.

Cardin Urges Colleagues to Heed President Obama’s Call to Combat Climate Change, Expand Clean Energy
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), a senior member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, praised President Obama for sharing the facts about climate change with the country during his State of the Union address on Tuesday evening.
“I agree, Mr. President, it does not take a scientist to know that something dangerous is happening to our climate when we’ve just experienced 14 or the 15 warmest years on record,” said Senator Cardin. “President Obama is absolutely correct that no challenge poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change, and that the time for action is now. If we do not act forcefully, we’ll continue to see rising oceans, longer, hotter heat waves, and dangerous droughts and floods. In our coastal state of Maryland and throughout the country, these impacts can be devastating to our lives and livelihoods. It is in our national interest to address climate change head-on. We must not cede international leadership on this issue, or stall domestic action.
“Like the President, I am proud of what we have done in the United States to expand investments in renewable energy, including wind and solar. American innovation is bolstering the middle class with family-wage, upwardly mobile, clean-energy jobs that we need and want in our country. Smart investments will continue to advance American energy security and they will underscore the strength of our commitment to slowing climate change at a time when some have questioned the veracity of our promises. America must continue to take climate change seriously. I look forward to working with the administration to find ways to cut carbon pollution.”

Reporter: Romney Global Warming Is Real And A Problem
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney seems to be on the campaign trail again, telling a gathering in Iowa that while he thinks global warming is real and a problem, he hopes skeptics of man-made global warming are right.
“He said it’s not enough for Americans to keep their own carbon emissions in check when much of the rise in greenhouse gases globally is coming from countries such as China and India,” reports the Des Moines Register.
The former Republican presidential candidate has not had a lot to say on global warming in the past. During the 2012 election, neither Romney nor President Barack Obama spoke a lot on global warming. In fact, Obama took the time to defend his record on oil and natural gas drilling against attacks from Romney.
“We have increased oil production to the highest levels in 16 years,” Obama said in a 2012 presidential debate. “Natural gas production is the highest it’s been in decades. We have seen increases in coal production and coal employment. That’s why we doubled clean — clean energy production like wind and solar and biofuels.”

Grinning iPad thieves identified with Burger King selfie automatically posted to iCloud
Two Houston thieves who failed to understand how the Cloud works are being hunted by cops after pictures they took of themselves on a victim's iPad were backed up online.
Holding two fans of $100 bills, the young men are suspects in the January 8 theft of Randy Schaefer's Apple tablet, his laptop, a radar detector and cash from his truck outside his home.
One week after the crime, Schaefer discovered pictures and a gloating video automatically uploaded to his iCloud account in which Dorian and his friend, Dylan, boast about their successful hustle.

NFL Hires Major Democrat Operative To Investigate Brady's Balls
The National Football League (NFL) announced Friday that it has hired super-lawyer Ted Wells to investigate the New England Patriots’ deflated ball scandal.
Wells is a former general counsel of the New Jersey Democratic Party and a campaign treasurer for liberal Democrat Bill Bradley’s 2000 presidential campaign and is a major official at the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
Wells is a partner at the New York-based mega firm Paul, Weiss. Wells previously worked for the NFL to investigate the Miami Dolphins’ 2014 “hazing” controversy, producing a 144-page report that concluded that player Richie Incognito hazed a teammate.

Email: Governor 'ordered' National Guard out of Ferguson
Mayor pleaded with Democrat for troops to stop looters
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, a Democrat, refused to use the National Guard as a defense at police headquarters against rioters in Ferguson, Missouri, after the grand jury vindication of Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting of Michael Brown, according to a new report.
Nixon’s refusal even extended to ignoring urgent requests by Ferguson Mayor James Knowles to deploy troops to protect lives and property.
St. Louis journalist Jamie Allman discovered the revelation buried at the end of a January 9, 2015, Associated Press report that stated Nixon specifically ordered the guard not to be placed in front of the Ferguson police headquarters.

Late-Term Abortions Average One Per Hour In U.S.; Calculates 'Cost' of Letting Babies Live
(CNSNews.com) - In its “cost estimate” of the “Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act” released yesterday, the Congressional Budget Office estimated that about 10,000 unborn babies are killed each year in the United States in abortions that take place at 20 weeks or later in pregnancy.
That works out to an average of 27.4 late-term abortion per day or 1.14 per hour.
The CBO made the estimate as it tried to calculate how much it would “cost” the federal government if Congress enacted the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which prohibits killing unborn babies at 20 or more weeks into pregnancy--unless the baby who is going to be killed was conceived through a reported rape or incest against a minor, or if the life of the mother is at stake.

Why You Should Quit Drinking Diet Soda
When diet sodas were first introduced to the general public in the middle of the twentieth century, they seemed like the best new thing in food since sliced bread. The idea was that you could drink sodas without counting calories and worrying about weight gain. According to the University of Texas, 59 percent of Americans drink diet sodas regularly hoping to lose weight. Unfortunately, evidence shows that they do not help you lose weight. In fact, they increase your risk of becoming obese and may even be worse for your health than regular sodas.
"Artificial sweeteners are a disaster in their own right," says board-certified family physician Dr. David Brownstein. "They’re known to cause neurological problems, autoimmune disorders, and probably cancer," he tells Newsmax Health.
If you're still guzzling diet drinks, read on to see why you seriously need to quit — and you'll also discover the best, least painful ways to ditch your habit.
There are at least five good reasons, all backed by research, why you should quit drinking diet sodas:

New Orleans Bans Smoking Pretty Much Everywhere
Claiming there is no “constitutional right” to smoke, the New Orleans City Council unanimously voted to outlaw smoking and electronic cigarettes in indoor and outdoor public places.
The ordinance, which goes into effect in 90 days, applies to bars, casinos, parks, private clubs, any business establishment, recreational areas, sports arenas, theaters, and a host of other places.
“[T]here is no legal or constitutional ‘right to smoke,’” the ordinance said. “Business owners have no legal or constitutional right to expose their employees and customers to the toxic chemicals in secondhand smoke. On the contrary, employers have a common law duty to provide their workers with a workplace that is not unreasonably dangerous.”
The ordinance was coauthored by Democratic councilmembers LaToya Cantrell, a former “community organizer,” and Susan Guidry.
The smoking ban carries $100 fines for a person who smokes a cigarette, natural or synthetic marijuana, or e-cigarettes in “public places.”
Public places include aquariums, laundromats, parking structures, trailer parks, condos, restaurants, shopping malls, outdoor stadiums and amphitheaters, libraries, theaters, lobbies, and more.

Biblical text found in Egyptian mummy mask
Fragment could be earliest copy of Mark
(SCIENCE ALERT) A fragment of what could be the earliest copy of the Gospel of Mark – the oldest of the four canonical gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and central to the belief system of Christianity – is set to be published after being discovered in the face mask of an Egyptian mummy.
Not all mummies were created equal – we’re used to seeing them contained by stunning sarcophagi and masks coated in gold, but only Egyptian royalty were honoured with such finery. When regular citizens died and were mummified, their masks were made from simple papyrus – a plant-based, paper-thin material – which was glued together in layers and painted.
And while papyrus was obviously a whole lot cheaper to produce than gold, it came in limited supply, so people often recycled it, just like how kids use old newspapers to make Papier-mâché. Now, researchers have figured out how to loosen the glue that holds these papyrus layers together, thousands of years after it was applied, so they can be extracted from the mask with the original ink writings still intact.

As Demoflush washes away, formula could be unclogged
Much like the substances it’s based on, Demoflush, the city’s estimate of population via wastewater flow, is likely on its way out, at least in its current form.
After discussion at last week’s Tourism Commission meeting, city council voted this week to investigate “replacing Demoflush with a more modern formula” to gauge visitorship.
For the better part of the four decades in which its been used, Demoflush has met with considerable skepticism from businesses, who find the number to be somewhat arbitrary compared to the economic metrics that have become readily available in recent years.

Renee Ellmers Leads GOP’s Cave on Abortion on Eve of March
As hundreds of thousands of members of the pro-life community descend upon Washington D.C. for the March for Life Thursday, the Republican leadership in the House of Representatives has caved to Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC) and a group of GOP women who believe passage of a bill that would ban abortions past the fifth month of pregnancy would hurt the Party’s chances with women and millennials.
Up to 500,000 are expected to participate in the march on Capitol Hill, representing what may be the largest recurring civil rights march in the country.
The upending of the bill comes as a member of that GOP leadership team, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA)—the House GOP conference chair—is leading the House delegation to, and addressing the crowds of pro-life marchers at the March for Life on Thursday on the national mall in Washington, D.C.

Female high school basketball coach 'bit another coach in the face'
A female high school basketball from Georgia faces prison time after allegedly biting another coach in the eye and nose.
Melonie Joyce Martin, 44, who heads up the South Cobb Eagles girls team, reportedly got into a profanity-laced argument with Tyrone Harris of Campbell High School on January 9.
According to her arrest warrant, an assistant principal and two other coaches watched on as she threw a chair at Harris and threatened to burst his 'grill' while they came head-to-head.
'I’m about to beat your [expletive] and stomp you, and I’ll beat your [expletive] and knock your teeth out of your face,' Martin allegedly said.

Economist: Maryland poised to grow in 2015
Economic growth is expected to accelerate this year in Maryland and across the United States, according to Mark Zandi, Chief Economist for Moody’s Analytics. Zandi addressed the State’s Senate Budget and Tax Committee in Annapolis this week.
Zandi offered an overall optimistic view of the economy, both at the national and state levels. He agreed with the notion that the national economy finally picked up pace in 2014, with accelerating and consistent growth and rapid employment expansion not seen since the late 1990s. He remarked that this growth is expected to continue and even increase to about 3.5 percent annually during 2015. According to him, this sustaining economic expansion should return the nation back to full employment by 2016.
With respect to Maryland’s economy, Zandi remarked that unlike the relatively slow growth of last year, affected by fading federal stimulus dollars, the State’s economy is also expected to grow in 2015 and beyond. He mentioned several key reasons for optimism. First, consumers were already seeing some positive changes in their income, as reflected in the State’s total personal income, which grew from 1 percent in 2013 to 3 percent in 2014. He reiterated that this income growth translates into more consumer spending, which in turn stimulates more demand for services and goods. In addition, plummeting gas prices have played an important role for consumers in the second part of the year. He estimates that, on average, a Maryland household will save about $1,800 per year at the current price levels they pay at the pump. Furthermore, as labor markets improve, wage growth is also expected to pick up.

PTSD: A Nationwide Epidemic for Military Veterans?
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, is real, extremely debilitating, and is striking veterans at epidemic proportions, with some statistics reporting as many as 1 in 5 veterans being affected.
PTSD is not a diagnosis confined to those with a military service background, as Dr. White points out on The Liberty Brothers Radio Show. Sexual Assault, a car accident, a house-fire, or any other event which produces extreme stress can qualify you for this insidious malady. For this article and video, however, we focus the discussion on military veterans who suffer with PTSD, and specifically how veterans are being neglected by our government.
Dr. James White, Jr. has a heart for veterans. He served for 11 years in the US Army, during which he received an incredible 4 honorable discharges. Doc White left his distinguished military career to pursue health care, and, just like in the military, has enjoyed tremendous success.
Doc White has treated PTSD for many years, and can truly be considered an expert on the matter – especially PTSD within the military. I have included a bio for Dr. White below:

About That 20-Week Abortion Bill
Today is the 42nd anniversary of the decision in Roe v. Wade. I never need reminding of which anniversary it is — it’s always the same as my age. I was one of those who entered the world through a pregnancy of the sort we call “unplanned,” though as a Hayekian type I do not object to being the “result of human action, but not the execution of any human design.” I was born about three months — call it a “trimester” — before Roe.
In my case, the result was an adoption. Mine wasn’t, as it turns out, the sort of success story you’d put in a brochure; my adoptive parents were divorced only a few years later, and there was subsequently a great deal of unpleasantness in my home upon which I do not intend to dwell. Some had happier families, some far worse. Eventually, I discovered that I had certain talents, which friends encouraged and teachers helped me to develop. I had the uniquely American experience of playing high-school football in West Texas (for what was the losingest team in our district’s history; we were everybody’s homecoming game, and I still expect to experience pain every time I see a mum), learned a trade at the (mighty, mighty)Daily Texan at the University of Texas, and then moved to India to apply it. I was editor-in-chief of a small newspaper before I was 30, and started a daily newspaper in Philadelphia a few years later. I failed at that, but it was tremendously fun, and on our better days we put out a more interesting broadsheet than the Inquirer. I’ve published a few books, had a few rejected, walked in the foothills of the Himalayas and driven a convertible through the Alps, gotten into bar fights, played Bach’s Prelude II Cm as part of a classical-guitar duet. I work at the only magazine I’ve ever really wanted to work at, and Bill Buckley once asked me for a word he was unable to call up in the moment (“lapidary”). There have been a few rough stretches and some that have been nearly perfect.
None of it was optional.

Israel: False Report on Mossad Chief Is WH 'Revenge' for Netanyahu Visit
Israel is denouncing U.S. claims that the director of Israeli intelligence opposes more sanctions on Iran, calling the allegations White House "revenge" over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plan to address the U.S. Congress on the threat from Iran's nuclear program.
Israel's Mossad secret service denied a report from the Bloomberg news service that quoted sources saying that Mossad chief Tamir Pardo urged a visiting U.S. Senate delegation to hold off on stronger sanctions while President Obama and other world leaders are engaged in nuclear talks with Iran.
"The head of Mossad did not say that he opposes additional sanctions on Iran," the spy agency said Thursday, adding that Pardo told the U.S. lawmakers negotiating with Iran requires "a policy of 'carrots and sticks' …, and there are not enough 'sticks' nowadays."
A senior Israeli official denounced the "fraudulent claims" that Bloomberg reported Wednesday and complained that someone on the visiting Senate delegation leaked details about what he called a "secret meeting," according to Israel's Arutz Sheva news.
"Leaking the Mossad head's statements, even if they had not been falsified, is a serious breach of all the rules," the unidentified source added. "Friends do not behave like this. Information from a secret meeting must not leak out."

Most in New Jersey Doubt Christie Would be Good President
Nearly three in five registered voters in New Jersey do not think their governor, Republican Chris Christie, would make a good U.S. president, according to a poll released on Thursday.
Christie, who is seen as a potential candidate in the 2016 election, has twice won the governor's office in New Jersey, where nearly twice as many voters are registered as Democrat than Republican.
In a putative presidential election between Christie and Hillary Clinton, 52 percent of New Jerseyans polled by Quinnipiac University said they would vote for the Democratic former U.S. secretary of state, including 11 percent of registered Republicans.
Overall, 57 percent of the registered voters polled said they did not think Christie, who prides himself on his blunt, sometimes combative speaking style, would make a good president. That included nearly a third of registered Republicans, 78 percent of Democrats and 59 percent of independents.
It is unusual for candidates to win the presidency while losing their home state, although James Polk, Woodrow Wilson and Richard Nixon managed the feat, in 1844, 1916 and 1968, respectively.

Boardwalk artist to help oversee performers
The city has named five members to its potentially influential task force for Boardwalk legal issues, including controversial street artist Mark Chase.
Mayor Rick Meehan made the appointments Tuesday night for Ocean City’s newest hearing body, which is tasked with making recommendations on how to deal with the ongoing legal issues surrounding use of the Boardwalk.
Chase, the plaintiff in a landmark case against the city over performers’ rights, requested last week to be included on the project in order to combat what he described as an “us versus them” environment between performers and Boardwalk businesses.

U.S. Research Lab Lets Livestock Suffer in Quest for Profit
Animal Welfare at Risk in Experiments for Meat Industry
At a remote research center on the Nebraska plains, scientists are using surgery and breeding techniques to re-engineer the farm animal to fit the needs of the 21st-century meat industry. The potential benefits are huge: animals that produce more offspring, yield more meat and cost less to raise.
There are, however, some complications.
Pigs are having many more piglets — up to 14, instead of the usual eight — but hundreds of those newborns, too frail or crowded to move, are being crushed each year when their mothers roll over. Cows, which normally bear one calf at a time, have been retooled to have twins and triplets, which often emerge weakened or deformed, dying in such numbers that even meat producers have been repulsed.
Then there are the lambs. In an effort to develop “easy care” sheep that can survive without costly shelters or shepherds, ewes are giving birth, unaided, in open fields where newborns are killed by predators, harsh weather and starvation.

Las Vegas - According to a new reportreleased by the National Shooting Sports Foundation at the 2015 SHOT Show, self-defense still remains the number one reason why women purchase their first firearm. Home-defense comes in second.

ANTHONY SADAR: EPA won't tolerate global warming questioning
After hearing Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy speak at this month’s annual meeting of the American Meteorological Society in Phoenix, Arizona, I realized that the United States is truly in a world of trouble from too much pollution — not the “carbon” kind, but the ideological kind.
Ms. McCarthy’s presentation consisted of not only the typical derision of skeptics of man-made climate change and the distortion of climate reality, but included a rather delusional self-assessment.

Backwards Clintons Praise Saudi King’s “Humanitarian Efforts”
Bill & Hillary 'Saddened' by Butcher's Death
In a remarkable statement, Bill and Hillary Clinton have expressed their sadness over the death of their “personal friend” King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, praising his “humanitarian efforts” and even ridiculously suggesting that he helped the plight of women in the country.
While the world has reacted with disgust as Western leaders expressed praise and sympathy over the death of a self appointed butcher ruler, the Clintons issued their own backwards statement.
“I had many dealings with His Majesty during and after my presidency, as did Hillary both inside and outside the State Department,” Bill Clinton’s portion of the statement read.
“And we are grateful for his support of efforts for peace in the Middle East; our close economic cooperation; the Kingdom’s humanitarian efforts around the world; especially its contributions after the earthquake in Haiti; and his efforts to modernize Saudi Arabia’s economy and education systems – as embodied by King Abdullah University, the Kingdom’s first coeducational institution of higher education,” it also said.
“Hillary and I are also grateful for his personal friendship and kindness toward our family and we join the Saudi people in mourning his loss and send our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family,” the Clinton statement said.

School apologizes after teacher tells parents to pack kid proper lunch
One Missouri dad was shocked to receive a letter from his daughter's substitute teacher telling him he had packed her a lunch that was too unhealthy.
The girl's father Justin Puckett, who is a family doctor, posted the letter, written on orange paper to his Facebook, outraged at the 'Big Brother' approach from the Kirksville Primary School teacher.
Annoyed at the implication he and his wife Kylene were not up to the task of caring for their own daughter, Dr. Puckett refused to sign the letter acknowledging he accepted the lunch was not up to scratch.

Congressman Andy Harris Responds To Keystone Pipeline
Dear .....
Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding your support for the Keystone XL Pipeline. Especially during these difficult economic times and sky-rocketing energy prices, I remain committed to implementing policies that reduce our dependence on foreign oil while cutting energy costs for hard-working families. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts with me regarding this important issue.
We must address the high energy bills that American families and small businesses face. That is why I joined my colleagues in the House in passing H.R. 3, Keystone XL Pipeline Act on January 9, 2015 to authorize the construction of the pipeline. In the 113th Congress the House also passed H.R. 3, the Northern Route Approval Act, which approves construction of the Keystone XL pipeline by removing the requirement for a Presidential Permit, granting the additional Federal permits required for the project, and limiting the legal challenges that can be brought regarding the pipeline's construction.
Keystone XL will be critical to improving American energy security and boosting our economy, especially in this difficult economic climate. As the US Department of State's Supplementary Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) outlines, the project will support over 42,100 jobs during the construction phase and will generate over $5 billion in economic activity, including $2.05 billion in worker salaries. For local governments along the pipeline corridor, $65 million in tax revenue will help fund necessary infrastructure projects, education and medical services. Additionally, even these promising economic impacts do not take into account the significant benefits that American businesses and families, including Maryland's First Congressional District, will see thanks to an increase in safe, abundant supplies of crude oil to fuel the economy.
I believe that an "all-of-the-above" energy approach that includes more American produced oil, natural gas, coal and nuclear, is the key to securing affordable energy. This approach will lower energy prices, create new American jobs, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, strengthen our national security and raise revenue. With recent discoveries of enormous natural gas reserves, we can reverse our dependence on foreign sources of energy and, in fact, become a significant energy exporter – supporting allies overseas that are currently dependent on Russian oil and gas. Please know that that I will continue to keep your thoughts in mind as energy policy is debated in upcoming legislation.
Again, thank you for taking the time to express your support for the Keystone XL pipeline. As the 114th Congress addresses the many challenges facing our nation, I hope you will continue to share your suggestions. For the fastest and most cost-effective response, please contact me via email. Pennsylvania Oath Keepers And The NRA Big Show
It is a huge event, with an expected crowd of a half-million folks who love traditional American outdoor activities — and guns! Pennsylvania Oath Keepers will have a state-of-the-art booth there with Oath Keepers RT&I handouts including the new CPT brochures and Constitutional movie documentaries by James Jaeger.
At last year’s big show Larry Liguori and his Pennsylvania chapter did a great job of representing Oath Keepers through the week-long show. Our public relations with the NRA was greatly benefited when Wayne LaPierre stopped by the Oath Keepers booth to thank them for participating in the show.

Hurricane Gloria in 1985 is where it all really started for Clay Stamp, the former emergency services director of Ocean City who late last week was appointed by Gov. Larry Hogan to run the Maryland Emergency Management Agency.
“In 1984, Ocean City was really getting beat up in the press for not having done enough preparation for hurricanes and nor’easters. Mayor Harry Kelley and Fire Marshall Dave Langford drove to Atlantic City, who had just formed their own program, to learn how they did it and proposed a system and wrote the first emergency plan in the spring of 1985. In September, Gloria tested that plan,” he recalled.
Gloria was devastating to downtown Ocean City, pulling up entire sections of the Boardwalk and inflicting almost $2 billion in damages adjusted for inflation.
“We evacuated people and used the command center on 15th Street,” Stamp said.

Popularity of American Sniper Boosts Sales of Pro-Military Clothes
The popularity of Clint Eastwood’s new drama American Sniper has boosted the sales of pro-military clothing. A number of pro-military retailers said they had seen a noticeable spike in sales since the movie premiered across the country last weekend. One retailer had even seen his orders more than double.
“You can definitely see it in incoming orders,” 7.62 Design owner said.
Jeff Scholz, who served eight years in the Marines before forming his pro-military clothing company, noticed a major increase in sales while exhibiting at the Army Navy Military Expo in Las Vegas this week. “We’ve seen over double our sales from last year,” he said. Scholz said his “Sniper Team” shirt was among those selling particularly well.

Sen. Mike Lee: Repeal Obamacare With 51-Vote Senate Majority
(CNSNews.com) -- Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) said “yes,” he would use reconciliation to repeal the Affordable Care Act, popularly known as Obamacare, the signature legislation of President Barack Obama.
At the Capitol on Tuesday, CNSNews.com asked the senator, “Given that the Senate enacted Obamacare in a reconciliation measure that only required 51 votes, would you support repealing Obamacare with only 51 votes?”
“Yes,” said the senator.
Established through the Congressional Budget Act of 1974, budget reconciliation means that the Senate can pass fiscally relevant measures, such as tax or spending items in existing legislation, with a simple majority, 51 votes out of 100, instead of the supermajority of 60 votes out of 100 needed to pass legislation. Senate debate on a reconciliation measure is limited to 20 hours.

WOC Family Seeks Solution To Failing Injection Wells
WEST OCEAN CITY — There is no clear answer for the growing problem of a failing county-owned wastewater disposal system gurgling treated effluent onto the property of a West Ocean City family and into the surrounding marshes, but Worcester officials this week agreed to explore the options.
When the VanVonno family bought a secluded island adjacent to the Mystic Harbor community in West Ocean City in August 2005 and built their home, it was aware the county owned and maintained an easement including 18 injection wells on the property. The injection wells take in treated wastewater from the nearby Mystic Harbor treatment plant, and as the name implies, literally injects the effluent into the soil.
When working properly, the wells inject wastewater treated to near drinking water quality into the soil gradually based on the amount of effluent the ground can take. However, the county’s 18 injection wells on the VanVonno property are frequently clogged and fail to work properly, often backing up with ponds on the property, flooding of the driveway and even into the sensitive marsh areas.

FITNESS MODEL, REALITY STAR DIES ATTEMPTING SUPERMAN STUNT
We’d never heard of Greg Plitt before, but apparently he is – or was – a fitness model and star of the Bravo reality television show “Work Out.”
Plitt died on Saturday after being fatally struck by a train north of the Burbank Metrolink Station in Los Angeles.
What happened? The model – who had appeared in campaigns for Under Armour, Old Navy Jeans and Calvin Klein, among others – was reportedly filming a new action video for his website in which he attempted to outrun a speeding train. Plitt may have even been hopped up on caffeine at the time as local law enforcement sources tell celebrity gossip website TMZ they “found multiple energy drink bottles near the track.”
A 37-year-old native of Baltimore, Maryland, Plitt was a U.S. Army Ranger prior to his career as a certified personal trainer and model.
According to TMZ, police have a video that “shows Plitt standing on the tracks as the train barrels toward him.”

German & Swiss 1 Year Bonds have now gone negative - Banks now charging customers to hold their money
You have to see this short video that was just released a few days ago as many people are not aware as to what transpired yesterday when ECU Bank chairman Mario Draghi initiated Quantitative Easing - (purchasing of their own bonds).
This action could very well set-off currency wars among developed nations. This is the first time in history where Bond yields have gone negative and it happened in, both, Germany & Switzerland. Bond yields have gone negative ( -.15) in Germany. The major German & Swiss banks are now charging their customers for holding their deposits. I am not making this stuff up.
These occurrences are getting very little press coverage.

LITTLE LEAGUE/PONY LEAGUE BANQUETS
Back in the 50’s, they had an annual dinner for the local baseball leagues that was far superior to the functions they have today. This was when baseball was played “for the love of the game”. In those days, when you asked for an autograph, it was a gesture of honor to the player you were asking. How things have changed. And you could read every name signed on your program. There was no charge to get anyone to sign. I imagine they came just for the free chicken dinner. The following are some of the attendees at those long ago dinners.

2,000 People Killed in Nigeria as “Allah has Commanded Us in His Book”
Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau has claimed responsibility for the mass killings in the northeast Nigerian town of Baga and threatened more violence.
As many as 2,000 civilians were killed and 3,700 homes and business were destroyed in the Jan. 3 attack on the town near Nigeria’s border with Cameroon, said Amnesty International.
“We are the ones who fought the people of Baga, and we have killed them with such a killing as He [Allah] commanded us in his book,” Shekau says, according to a translation from Arabic provided by SITE Intelligence Group.

Liquor Control Board to close 16th Street store until May
When it comes to the county Liquor Control Department, there is no question where the commissioner representing Ocean City, Joe Mitrecic, stands.
“I’m voting against this,” he said of a request to close the department’s 16th Street store in Ocean City until May, “but the only reason I’m voting against it is because we’re going to open it back up again,” he said.
The request for the temporary closure came from Director Bobby Cowger who told the commissioners Tuesday it would save an estimated $27,000. Between now and May 1, when the store would reopen, the employees of the 16th Street store will be moved to the Gold Coast and northern locations, while the temporary employees at those locations will be furloughed.

A Marine Donated a Flag to a School; What Someone Did to It is Appalling
First Sergeant Reginald Daniels, a Marine, proudly served his country during three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He loves America and takes pride in the U.S. flag. So, when he discovered that the Brattain Early Learning Center in Springfield, Oregon did not have a flag, a discovery made as he and two other Marines were building a playground for the school, he decided to do something about it.
Daniels bought the school a flag and taught them how to properly raise and lower it.
One day, Daniels got a call from the school letting him know that someone burned the flag and left it at half-staff. Daniels said, “Some of the teachers kind of teared up a little bit and then they took me in to the back room and showed me the flag that was burned. I was lost for words to see that someone had pulled the flag down off the pole and burned it.”
Daniels had more to say to the individual who vandalized the flag by burning it. He stated, “I love this country and what it stands for. I know everybody has their views, but I think everybody can have something that they can look proudly at, and that’s – I take pride in the flag. Someone out there thinks that this is OK. And this is the exact reason why I wear this uniform, so that – to show them that it’s not.”

Illegal immigration and warring parents: the story of Mrs Columba Bush
Her husband is the leading Republican candidate for the White House and hopes to pull off an unprecedented feat: to be the third member of the same family to hold the presidency.
But at Jeb Bush’s side, his wife Columba also stands to make history. She would, of course, be the third Mrs Bush in the White House.
But she would – crucially – be the first Hispanic first lady, and only the second born outside the United States.
Columba has kept herself out of the limelight since he announced his plan to run, as she has throughout his political career.
But Daily Mail Online can today reveal the remarkable story of how the daughter of a Mexican peasant from a farm without running water joined America’s premier political dynasty; and the sad family rift which has marred that journey to the gates of the White House.
Columba, it can be disclosed, is the daughter of a man who crossed into American illegally to work, who was accused of beating her, and with whom she was never reconciled – even in death.

Doomsday Clock reads 11.57: Scientists move minute hand by 2 minutes
The Doomsday Clock’s minute hand has been moved two minutes closer to midnight as experts warn we are closer than ever to a global catastrophe.
In a live international news conference, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists (BAS) said that the threat of climate change and nuclear war posed a very serious threat to modern society.
Their symbolic clock is now set at three minutes to midnight, but while they say it is not too late to avert disaster ‘the window for action is closing rapidly’.

Literacy, the ability to take in information and use it to improve a life, includes not onlytutoring someone to improve their ability to read but also consists ofinstructing someone on how to use a computer, teaching them to manage their finances, assisting them in understanding their doctor’s orders, or working with them in finding a career. Literacy encompasses a realm of skills, all ofwhich are necessary for life in today’s world.
By recognizing individuals and organizations who promote literacy and by raising public awareness of their work, the Friends hope to multiply their efforts and the effect they have in the community. This will benefit those who do the work, those who gain assistance from this work, but also those with literacy needs who are seeking assistance.

‘Sex Slave’ Insists She Did Not Have Sex With That Man, Bill Clinton
She did not have sexual relations with that man, President Clinton — but billionaire Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged “sex slave” is now swearing under oath and in excruciating detail about underaged sexual trysts with Prince Andrew and others.
In papers filed Wednesday in Florida federal court, “Jane Doe No. 3,” Virginia Roberts, detailed an 11-person orgy in 2001 with the British prince, who’s been dubbed “Randy Andy.”
Or, as Roberts called him, just “Andy.”
Roberts, now 31, also doubled down on her claims that she had sex with renowned lawyer Alan Dershowitz, swearing in court papers that she had sex with him six times – and that he once stood casually chatting with Epstein as she was performing oral sex on the freaky financier.
Meanwhile, Epstein’s girlfriend, socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, had “forceful” sex with underaged girls — including Roberts — almost daily, the explosive filing says.
One person Roberts said she didn’t have sex with while working for Epstein between 1999 and 2002 was his then-pal, Bill Clinton.
“I have seen reports saying or implying that I had sex with former President Bill Clinton on Little St James Island,” an island Epstein owns in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
“Clinton was present on the island at a time when I was also present on the island, but I have never had sexual relations with Clinton, nor have I ever claimed to have had such relations. I have never seen him have sexual relations with anyone,” Roberts wrote.
