Oprah doesn't like Michelle Obama, proclaims astonishing tell-all book

Oprah doesn't like first lady Michelle Obama because she's a show off Edward Klein's new book, Blood Feud, alleges.

The legendary talk show host was once a close friend and adviser of the president's, but she had a falling out with the first family during the president's first term in office.

'It appeared to Oprah that Michelle was jealous of her, furious that Barack was seeking her advice instead of Michelle's,' a source close to Winfrey told Klein.

'For her part, Oprah didn't like being with Michelle, because the first lady was constantly one-upping the president and anybody else around her. '

At another point in the book Oprah is quoted as saying that the Obamas make her 'jumpy.'

Oprah reportedly told a friend that ' "even when the Obamas think they are being charming, they hold you at arm’s length." '

Nancy Pelosi At The Border: Influx Of Illegal Immigrants An ‘Opportunity,’ Not A ‘Crisis’

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on Saturday called the recent inpouring of Central Americans across the U.S. border an “opportunity” rather than a “crisis” — and added a personal desire of hers.

“I wish I could take all those children home with me,” Pelosi said during a press conference in Brownsville, Texas, after visiting a nearby Border Patrol facility housing illegal immigrants, reported KGBT-TV in Harlingen, Texas.

“We’re all Americans in this hemisphere, North and South America.”

The Democratic representative from California said, “We will show the rest of the world how we deal with this,” KGBT said, noting she called those who’ve crossed the border refugees who must be treated with “decency.”

Report: VA and DoD don't know outcomes of PTSD treatment

The agencies responsible for serving military members with post traumatic stress disorder don't know if the treatment programs are working, a June 20 Institute of Medicine report says.

The Defense Department and the Veterans Affairs Department spent $294 million and about $3 billion respectively in 2012 on PTSD treatment programs.

"Given that the DOD and VA are responsible for serving millions of service members, families, and veterans, we found it surprising that no PTSD outcome measures are used consistently to know if these treatments are working or not," said Institute of Medicine Committee Chair Sandro Galea in the report.

Dick Cheney Fearmongers "A Terrorist Attack Bigger Than 9/11 Will Happen Before End Of Decade"

Hot on the heels of Eric Holder's domestic terrorism task force creation, Lindsay Graham's recent diatribe of the "inevitability" of another terror attack (on the US) by Syria or Iraq, adding that "according to our own Director of National Intelligence, FBI Director, the next 9/11 is coming from here," it seems the ultimate scaremonger has decided it is his turn to stir the pot. Appearing on Hugh Hewitt's radio show, Dick Cheney explained that he "doubted" whether the US would "get through this decade" without another "massive attack on the homeland." But it's what he said after that makes Obama's NYC nukes concerns pale in comparison...

Maine Governor Wants to Limit Welfare to Legal Residents

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Gov. Paul LePage wants to limit state welfare benefits to only those residents living in Maine legally, a move that could force municipalities to drop some recipients or risk losing government funds.

But opponents say the Republican would be pitting have-nots against other have-nots in the state and feeding into a fear of immigrants. Meanwhile, some politicians complain that LePage can't change welfare laws without legislative approval and that he's grandstanding during an election year.

"He's putting people who are having difficult economic times against one another and trying to make them feel like they need to battle it out," said Zach Heiden, legal director for the American Civil Liberties Union of Maine.

Young Boy Invents The Greatest Contraption To Prevent Babies From Dying In Cars

A simple, brilliant invention that could save children from being left in hot cars is available to anyone with a few minutes of free time and some common household items.

The E-Z Baby Saver consists of thick rubber bands and brightly colored duct tape. You affix it to the interior of your car where it blocks you from exiting until you remove it, prompting you to remember to check the back seat.

The inventor is 12 years old.

“Lots of different things happened to help me come up with this idea,” said Andrew Pelham of suburban Nashville. “I read a newspaper article about a woman who accidentally left her child in the car and the child died. It made me want to come up with an idea to prevent this. That’s a sad way to die. I decided to see if I could come up with something.”

23 Health Benefits Of Marijuana

States around the country — more than 20 in total — have been legalizing medical marijuana.

Recently, CNN's chief medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta reversed his opinion on medical marijuana.

While recreational marijuana is controversial, many people agree with Gupta's new stance, and believe that the drug should be legal for medical uses.

While the benefits of smoking pot may be overstated by advocates of marijuana legalization, the new legalization will help researchers study the drugs' medicinal uses, and better understand how it impacts the body.

Currently only 6% of studies on marijuana analyze its medicinal properties.

Keep in mind, though, that there are negative effects of smoking too much pot or using it for non-medicinal purposes. When overused or abused, pot can cause dependency and mess with your memory and emotions.

House again blocks McAuliffe on Medicaid

Gov. Terry McAuliffe faces another roadblock erected by the House of Delegates in his quest to use federal funds to expand health coverage for uninsured Virginians.

The question is: Will the governor run through it?

House Speaker William J. Howell, R-Stafford, refused on Monday to allow the House to consider McAuliffe’s veto of budget restrictions on his ability to use federal funds for health coverage without the approval of the General Assembly.

Also Monday night, Senate Republicans used their newfound majority to reorganize the chamber, seizing chairmanships of all committees. That matters because committee chairmen are gatekeepers who have important sway over which legislation makes it to the floor.

Michelle Obama Uses a Racial Slur… Liberals Don’t Bat an Eye

Most of the rhetoric involving race that flows from the mouths of liberals is nonsensical, and typically, down right hypocritical.

Take for example the left’s recent war efforts on the Washington Redskins football team. A campaign, led by despised Nevada Sen. Harry Reid has attempted to force the Redskins to change their name, claiming it was an offensive racial slur.

The Redskins refused, so Reid and his government thugs turned to mob tactics by having the team’s trademark rejected. The government has also rallied liberals from all over to lead a cultural smear campaign to shame the team and it’s fans.

Rand Paul: 'What Authority Does Anyone Have to Go to War in Iraq?'

(CNSNews.com) - Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) says the war in Iraq isn't over until Congress formally declares it is over and repeals its authorization for the president to use military force there.

"In fact, you know, one of the important constitutional questions here is, what authority does anyone have to go to war in Iraq? I've been trying to take that authority away," Paul told NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday.

In 2011, when President Obama declared that the Iraq war finally was over, Paul introduced an amendment to a defense authorization bill that would have formally ended the war by canceling congressional authorization for it. His goal was to prevent President Obama from invoking prior authorization to commit troops to combat.

"[C]an one generation bind another generation?" Paul asked on Sunday. "Can the people you elected in 2002, who voted to go to war in 2002, does that bind us forever? Are we -- are we at war forever, no geographic limit and no temporal or time limit on this?

Drug-delivering drone crashes in prison after it got caught in wires

Complete with four rotor blades for superb manoeuvrability and a mounted video camera, the so-called quadcopter was flown into the yard of Wheatfield Prison where it was met by inmates who ripped the drugs off and ran.

Bloody Idiocy and Evil

With the Islamic warriors of ISIS having captured all the border posts between Iraq, Syria and Jordan, we may be witnessing the end of Sykes-Picot.

That was the secret 1916 treaty by which the British and French carved up the Ottoman Empire, with the Brits taking Transjordan and Iraq, and the French Syria and Lebanon.

Sykes-Picot stuck in the craw of Osama bin Laden. Now his most fanatical followers have given him a posthumous triumph.

President Obama said over the weekend that the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, which seeks to create a caliphate out of the Sunni lands of Syria and Iraq it occupies, poses a threat to the United States.

Suspended Official’s Return To City Hall Causes Unrest

Those involved with the issue on the city’s side would only say that it was a “personnel matter,” with the official in question saying they “want to leave this behind and move forward.”

The city does not typically disclose individual personnel decisions.

However, this particular incident stands to have wider implications, given that it has exacerbated the already tense relationship between the city and the Ocean City Brewing Company, and raised the issue of favoritism in City Hall.

Cheat sheet shows illegal immigrants how to stay in U.S. if detained

Immigrants who illegally cross the U.S. border from Mexico are using a 'cheat sheet' to memorize answers they should give to American authorities that will help them stay in the United States if they are detained, it was claimed today.

A guide given to immigrant instructs them to request asylum and say they have family in the United States and fleeing violent drug cartels in their home country.

The Blaze, a conservative news site, obtained a copy of the Spanish-language cheat sheet that was found near the border crossing in McAllen, Texas.

Illegal immigrants who request asylum are held for an asylum hearing in front of an immigration judge.

Democrats Put Cochran Over the Top

You have to hand it to the GOP establishment. When their interests are threatened, they pull out all the stops. They demonstrated that in dragging GOP senator Thad Cochran across the finish line in tonight’s runoff in Mississippi.

Imagine if a tea-party candidate in some state had openly appealed to registered Libertarians to help him win a close primary runoff. There would have been howls of outrage that people who didn’t agree with Republican values on social issues and foreign policy were being invited to decide a GOP race. Well, Thad Cochran’s allies performed a version of that ploy tonight by openly encouraging liberal Democrats to vote in the primary. Turnout was up by some 15 percent from the June 3 contest between Cochran and Chris McDaniel. The New York Times reported that “turnout increased by 92 percent in Jefferson County, the county where black voters represent the largest share of eligible voters in the country.”

Thad Cochran will continue in the Senate only because the GOP establishment used “walking around” money to drum up minority liberal voters for Cochran. In Mississippi, despite an unenforceable law saying that only voters intending to vote Republican can participate in GOP primaries, there was nothing preventing that kind of primary manipulation.

ALL Of The Net Jobs Gains In The U.S. Since 2000 Have Gone To Immigrants

Since 2000, all of the net jobs added by the U.S. economy have gone to immigrants, both legal and illegal, according to a report being released Friday by the Center for Immigration Studies that challenges prevailing wisdom that the country needs an influx of workers.

Nearly 6 million more people are working in the U.S. now than in 2000, but the number of native-born Americans holding jobs has declined slightly, from 114.8 million to 114.7 million, according to census figures crunched by CIS. Instead, all of that job growth — a total of 5.7 million — has gone to immigrants.

Some of the native-born are unemployed, but a huge number have been chased from the workforce altogether, in part because of competition from immigrants, said Steven A. Camarota, research director for CIS and lead author of the report.

Update on Wor- Wic's Ray Hoy

Several weeks ago we reported that Wor Wic President Ray Hoy was a finalist for the Delaware Tech President's role.
Here is an update and it looks like Mr. Hoy's competitor for the job may have a slight edge, though nothing final will be decided until after July 9.
  • 20 candidates came from 15 different states, the District of Columbia and Ontario, Canada.
  • States represented included California; New York; New Jersey; Florida; Delaware; Maryland;
Pennsylvania; Virginia; Ohio; Indiana; Minnesota; Michigan; Colorado; Connecticut and West
    Virginia.
  • Six candidates were offered initial interviews.
  • Three of the six accepted and were interviewed.
  • Two of the three candidates were selected as finalists.
Of the 20 applications that were received, ACCT identified 9 as potentially qualified to lead an institution the size of Delaware Tech. Only 4 had experience with a multi-campus community college system, and only 2 (including our internal candidate) had experience with an institution comparable to Delaware Tech in enrollment and budget. Most of the remaining candidates were either presidents or vice presidents of small single campus institutions equal to or smaller than our smallest campus. There was also a college faculty member, a high school administrator and a high school teacher in the pool. Of the 6 individuals selected for interview, only 3 were identified as “strong” candidates by each member of the Search Committee. Two of the three accepted an interview, and both were selected as finalists.  Delaware Tech Executive Vice President, Dr. Mark Brainard, is one of the finalists. The other finalist is Dr. Murray Hoy, who currently serves as President of Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury, Md.
"While interviews are being conducted, Delaware Technical Community College’s Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Mark T. Brainard interim president at its June 24 meeting to insure the continued leadership and accountability for the institution upon the June 30 retirement of current president, Dr. Orlando J. George, Jr.

Dr. Brainard currently serves as Delaware Tech’s executive vice presidentwhere he works collaboratively with the president in providing strategic thinking and direction for all administrative areas and has day-to-day responsibility for management of the major operational divisions at the College.

Dr. Brainard’s appointment is effective July 1 and will continue until the presidential search
has concluded and a new president is installed. A decision regarding the next president has not yet been made. The Board will reconvene on July 9 to conduct final interviews with the remaining candidates and vote on the selection of the College’s fifth president at that time."

The scandal of fiddled global warming data

The US has actually been cooling since the Thirties, the hottest decade on record

When future generations try to understand how the world got carried away around the end of the 20th century by the panic over global warming, few things will amaze them more than the part played in stoking up the scare by the fiddling of official temperature data. There was already much evidence of this seven years ago, when I was writing my history of the scare, The Real Global Warming Disaster. But now another damning example has been uncovered by Steven Goddard’s US blog Real Science, showing how shamelessly manipulated has been one of the world’s most influential climate records, the graph of US surface temperature records published by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Goddard shows how, in recent years, NOAA’s US Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) has been “adjusting” its record by replacing real temperatures with data “fabricated” by computer models. The effect of this has been to downgrade earlier temperatures and to exaggerate those from recent decades, to give the impression that the Earth has been warming up much more than is justified by the actual data. In several posts headed “Data tampering at USHCN/GISS”, Goddard compares the currently published temperature graphs with those based only on temperatures measured at the time. These show that the US has actually been cooling since the Thirties, the hottest decade on record; whereas the latest graph, nearly half of it based on “fabricated” data, shows it to have been warming at a rate equivalent to more than 3 degrees centigrade per century.

15 Things You Should Never Put On Your Resume

How many times have you applied for a job and never heard back?

You tell yourself, “They probably never saw it,” or, “Maybe I just wasn’t a good fit,” and you move on.

But, more likely, your resume just didn’t impress.

Hiring managers receive dozens — sometimes hundreds — of resumes for any given opening. They don’t have the time or resources to review each one closely, so they spend approximately six seconds on their initial “fit/no fit” decision.

You may be perfect for the job, but if your resume has just one typo, if it’s formatted poorly, or you use the wrong font, it could easily end up in the “no fit” pile.

10 Facts About The SWATification Of America That Everyone Should Know

SWAT team raids more than 25 times higher than in 1980

The number of SWAT team raids in the United States every year is now more than 25 times higher than it was back in 1980.

As America has conducted wars overseas in recent years, our police forces have become increasingly militarized as well. And without a doubt, many of our cities have become much more dangerous places. Thanks torelentless illegal immigration, drug cartels are thriving and there are now at least 1.4 million gang members living in the United States. But there are many that believe that the militarization of our police forces has gone way too far. Almost weekly, SWAT team brutality somewhere in America makes national headlines. You are about to read about a couple of horrific examples of this below. Once upon a time, police in America were helpful and friendly and the public generally trusted them. But now our police forces are being transformed into military-style units that often act like they are in the middle of Iraq or Afghanistan. The following are 10 facts about the SWATification of America that everyone should know…

#1 In 1980, there were approximately 3,000 SWAT raids in the United States. Now, there are more than 80,000 SWAT raids per year in this country.

#2 79 percent of the time, SWAT teams are deployed to private homes.

#3 50 percent of the victims of SWAT raids are either black or Latino.

Daily Aspirin Wards Off Pancreatic Cancer: Yale Study

People who take low-dose aspirin for more than 10 years might be reducing their risk for pancreatic cancer, a new study suggests.

Even taking a daily aspirin for just three years lowered the chances of the deadly cancer by 48 percent, the researchers said.

"Aspirin use has potential risks of its own, thus the risks and benefits for each person have to be evaluated based on personal characteristics," said lead researcher Dr. Harvey Risch, a professor of epidemiology at the Yale School of Public Health.

The 3 Most Common Reasons People Fail

Failures are unavoidable for even the most talented, driven people.

The successful, however, learn from their setbacks and develop habits that keep them from making the same mistakes repeatedly.

He talked about them in an undated radio broadcast most likely from around 1953, since Hill was promoting his book "How to Raise Your Own Salary," published in the same year.
