HIGHWAY WORKED KILLED ALONG I-695

(LOCHERN, MD) – Troopers are investigating a crash which took the life of a man working along the shoulder of I-695 this afternoon in Baltimore County.

The victim is identified as John C. Kahl, 54, of the unit-block of Benjamin Park Drive, Port Deposit, Md. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Baltimore County medical personnel. Mr. Kahl was employed by Erosion Control & Landscape Service, Inc. The company is a subcontractor for the State Highway Administration.
The driver of the Ford pickup has been identified as Brian K. Seitz, 54, of the 1200 block of Drivers Road, Marriottsville , Maryland. He refused any medical treatment at the time of the crash.

A preliminary investigation has been conducted by troopers from the Maryland State Police CRASH Team with the assistance of personnel from the Golden Ring Barrack. The investigation indicates that around 2:00 p.m. today, a 2001 Ford pickup was traveling on the inner loop of I-695 in the area of Liberty Road. For reasons unknown at this time, the Ford left the travel portion of the road and continued onto the right shoulder. Once on the shoulder, the vehicle struck the victim and a piece of landscaping equipment he was using to complete landscaping work on the right roadside.

There were two other workers at the scene when the crash occurred. They did not sustain any injuries from the crash. There has been no determination of vehicle speed at this time.

Due to the severity of the crash, troopers closed the inner loop I-695 in the area of Liberty Road for several hours. State Highway Administration personnel assisted with road closures.

Anyone who may have witnessed this crash is asked to contact the Maryland State Police, Golden Ring Barracks at (410) 780-2700.
The cause of the crash is unknown at this time. Charges are pending.

The investigation is continuing.

'Herbert Hoover Republicans...Will Doom The Country'

Mark Levin is rattling his sabers against not only liberals, but also former staffers of the Bush administration. It's time to "expose their disastrous policies and feckless arguments before they destroy what's left of the GOP," Levin says. They share responsibility in the growth of government, the orgy of spending, and Obama's ascendency to the White House.

Hence, the birth of the Tea Party. Peter Wehner was a Bush staffer who wrote a less than flattering piece in Commentary about Sen. Ted Cruz, which led Levin to fire off this salvo:

Bush 43 staffers like Pete Wehner, Michael Gerson, and Karl Rove - whose boss spent like a liberal Democrat, massively grew the federal government, and paved the way for Obama's election - seek to sabotage conservatives like Ted Cruz.

It's time to take on these Herbert Hoover Republicans and expose their disastrous policies and feckless arguments before they destroy what's left of the GOP and cost us another presidential election. They are every bit the reason, as much as Obama, the tea party movement came to be. And their perversion of conservatism and embrace of statism will doom the country.

A Letter To The Editor: "My Response To Your Article Of The Soldier And Golden Corral

For those of you who are questioning the integrity of the person who originally made this post, let me assure you that all things were done properly.

My name is Cami Whaley, and the post is mine. It was made on my Facebook and by the powers of social media has traveled to where it has. And I would like to shed a little more light on my side of this story.

Here are the facts. In the beginning of December, I was made aware that our soldier was coming home and wanted to surprise his wife,(my sister) and their little boy. He and I had picked Golden Corral as the venue because we wanted a family friendly place that both sides of the family could enjoy with a variety of foods available.

I contacted Golden Corral mid December and spoke with a female manager (which I was later told was actually a District manager) who ensured me that this was no problem. (For all purposes, at this time I will withhold said managers names.) She was given a specific date of January 28th. This happens to also be my sister's and her husband's anniversary. So this date was given firmly with no mention of changing it to a Wednesday or Thursday. She told me to contact her throughout and leading up to the date in case of time change or party size number.

I specifically asked for a room with a TV or projector as we had something in the works, and would have several small children in attendance also to which I would bring a cartoon if needed. I was given the green light and told that everything would be in order.

She was again contacted at the beginning of January to a change in our dinner time. I was told that, that was acceptable and to call back a week before. I did so. No mention was made of any possible interference with my reservation.

I then contacted her two days prior making sure we were still on the same page as we were going to have our soldier surprise my sister and her son within the restaurant. She informed me that this was entirely possible, and that I just needed to come sign a basic contract of rules and such. I expressed to her that I would be in that night to do so where as she then told me that she would not be in and to just request the next manager and do so accordingly. This is what I did.

In arriving with a friend of mine, I spoke to another manager. This gentleman was extremely helpful, and very pleasant. (Apparently this may also be his downfall, as I have since been told that this issue is trying to be laid solely upon his shoulders. I feel this is extremely unfair as he was following what he was told to do by his higher management).

I made it very clear to him as well just what our plans were in decorating and so forth. HE took it upon himself to tell me that since our dinner was to begin at 7, that he would make sure extra food was prepared, that the one room would be closed down so that we could decorate a half hour, to an hour before... and that we would be given the larger of the two rooms considering our party was larger. He also went on to say that Kids night has been slow lately and that the smaller room with the TV would be for that use that way it would be beneficial for all. HE also said that considering we were coming within the last hour of the dinner service, and that technically we reserved it for a two hour time block, that there would be no problems in accommodation. He was also asked of the use of the projection screen and it was again confirmed to not be an issue. I agreed and then he continued to give me a pricing sheet, and had me sign before I took my leave.

On the day of the planned party I received a phone call at approximately 1-1:30 pm to let me know that the requested space/contract could not be honored. It was here this third manager tried to tell me that unless I wanted to change the date to a Wednesday or Thursday to have the room, I was at a loss. When I told him I wouldn't reschedule the party (mind you family members were already traveling downstate to get here), his words " well it is what it is, we are trying to fix this for you." I expressed my dissatisfaction of this and was asked to hold while the gentleman (a different manager by the way) spoke to the owner. He come back to the phone and told me that even after talking to his owner there was no way this could happen. I was told the best to be done was to put my party in a different section of the restaurant around a fireplace and they would try to get us as close together as they could, with the use of a divider.

At this point, we had been preparing a power point presentation and the countless money I was referring to was that of the decorations, travel arrangements (as his family was coming from 3 hours away), and yes even my gas to come to said establishment to make sure things were in order. I expressed clearly to this third manager that I was unhappy that we could no longer be accommodated in what I was promised. He became very brazen and harsh spoken to me on the phone, citing his own experiences with war and basically told me that my requests and being upset over this matter were unfounded because they "were trying to fix it.". And no my intention to my post was not meant to imply that our soldier is more important than any kids coming to your establishment. Mr. Anonymous manager who has recently posted on behalf of Golden Corral, I was told word for word by one of your management staff that they were more important than he after he berated me over the telephone.

After being talked to the way I was, and still not having our accommodations being met, I then proceeded to tell your manager that I was given until 6pm to cancel should it be necessary. I expressed this to him and told him that yes, because of the "heinous nature" of said staff and the way this was downward spiraling that I may call back to cancel.

I then called Flaming Grill who was more than happy to help us with our party, and at over half the cost! And I must say with by far better service and interaction. I called back to Golden Corral to cancel within minutes, (absolutely within the appropriate time frame I was given.) At this point not one of your managers would get on the phone, including the one who spoke so harshly to me, your potential customer. Instead, your management put a waitress on the phone with me because it was the manager's belief that I just spoke to minutes before, that this waitress was a friend of mine, hoping she would smooth this debacle over. In all actuality, she was not a friend of mine but a friend of the soldier's mother.

So through all of this, your management wasn't even clear of who they had been speaking to. At that point I did cancel my request to hold said party in the establishment, and it was relocated to the Flaming Grill. And yes it was cancelled because of the way it was handled - on your part, not mine. I was then given information that as of eight o clock that morning, that your management had been aware of the this potential problem, and could have contacted me then. However the management at your establishment waited until the afternoon to do so.

So yes the ball was dropped Sir or Madam, but I will not allow this establishment to make it out to be that it was that of my fault. This establishment had several opportunities to express and questions or concerns, that did in fact arise in this instance. And whether or not the validity of this next statement is true, I have also been told by members of your management that Golden Corral in Salisbury is in the process of being phased out over the course of the next 3 years.

And with business ethics/practices like the ones expressed and clearly acted upon by this location, one can only ascertain that it is much more than fiscal reasons as to why.

Real Disposable Income Plummets Most In 40 Years

We may not know much about "Keynesian economics" (and neither does anyone else: they just plug and pray, literally), but we know one thing: when real disposable personal income drops by 0.2% from a month earlier, and plummets by 2.7% from a year ago, the biggest collapse since the semi-depression in 1974, something is wrong with the US consumer.

DUI Enforcement To Be Stepped Up On Super Bowl Sunday

MAKE THE RIGHT PLAY THIS SUPER BOWL – DRIVE SOBER OR HAND OFF THE KEYS TO A DESIGNATED DRIVER
DUI enforcement to be stepped up on Super Bowl Sunday
Wicomico County-The Super Bowl is one of America’s most highly anticipated sports events, when friends and family gather in homes, bars and restaurants to celebrate. As Super Bowl Sunday approaches and football fans across Maryland prepare for the game, the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office have joined in the statewide push to spread the message about designating a sober driver on Super Bowl Sunday, because – Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk.

“There is absolutely no reason to get behind the wheel after drinking,” said Sheriff Mike Lewis “Drinking and driving is deadly, and our Deputies have absolutely no tolerance when it comes to drunk drivers on our roads.”

According to Maryland crash data, an average of 175 people has lost their lives in each of the past five years to alcohol-related crashes. Nationally, 9,878 people were killed in alcohol-impaired-driving crashes in 2011 (the last year of complete national data) and those crashes were 31 percent more likely to occur on weekends than on weekdays.

“If you will be drinking, make a plan to get home safely before you go out,” stated Sheriff Lewis “Designate a sober driver before the party begins, call a cab, or arrange to stay where the party is occurring. The last thing you want is a ride in one of our patrol cars at the end of the night.”

If you’re attending a Super Bowl party or watching the game at a sports bar or restaurant:
§         Designate your sober driver, or plan another way to get home safely before the party begins.
§         If you don’t have a designated driver, then ask a sober friend for a ride home; call a cab, friend, or family member to come and get you; or just stay for the night.
§         Use your community’s sober ride program.
§         Never let friends drive if they have had too much to drink.

If you’re hosting a Super Bowl party:
§         Make sure all your guests designate a sober driver in advance, or arrange for alternate transportation to ensure they get home safely.
§         Serve food and include non-alcoholic beverages at the party.
§         Stop serving alcohol at the end of the third quarter of the game and begin serving coffee and dessert.
§         Keep the numbers for local cab companies handy, and take the keys away from anyone who has had too much to drink.

And remember, your seat belt is your best defense against a drunk driver in a crash.

Your Imperialistic Leader’s Pen Is Burning A Hole In His Pocket

Get ready, as our imperialistic leader President Barack Obama is determined to make a push either with or without Senate approval–threatening colleagues earlier this year that he has “a pen” and knows how to use it.

That’s right, Obama does not need approval really for anything as Executive Orders can be signed at any time. And trust me he is fully prepared to do just that. “Still, the president will have to convince Americans, considering a recent ABC poll shows that 59 percent of them disapprove of how ObamaCare has been implemented, and to counter Republicans’ midterm election strategy of singling out and defeating Democrats who backed the law.”, reported Fox News. With 59% of Americans disapproving his health plan the moment, it’s needless to say the pimp daddy himself shall leave no stone unturned during and after the coming speech.

It’s a shame the way the government is set up now. As I explained earlier, with the stroke of a pen, Obama is essentially a supreme dictator over the United States looking at it in laymen’s terms. In fact Obama has signed more Executive Orders than any other sitting president of the United States, making him more of a tyrant than some of the worst dictators on the planet.

Ron Paul: Every Week Should Be School Choice Week

National School Choice week takes place from January 26 to February 1, and during this week education freedom activists around the country will be participating in events highlighting the need for parental control of education. I wholeheartedly endorse National School Choice Week, as parental control of education is a prerequisite for a free and prosperous society.

When government usurps control of education from parents, education can easily become indoctrination. Centralized, top-down models of education are also doomed to failure as there is no way a bureaucrat in DC can design an education system capable of meeting the needs of every child in the country. The failure of centralized education is shown by the correlation between American students’ declining tests scores and the growth of federal control over American schools. Education reforms that further, or expand, the Department of Education will prove fruitless. The only effective education reform is to restore parental control over education.

Rand Paul: 'Don't Be Trashing My Dad'

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., on Sunday warned critics not to trash his father, former Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, and defended their sharedlibertarian philosophy.

In an interview on NBC's “Meet the Press” Paul was asked about comments from his colleague, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who suggested that Ron Paul's libertarian views could make it hard for his son to win mainstream voters in a presidential bid.

“You know, don't be trashing my dad too much,” said Rand Paul, when asked about those comments. “That's my dad, you know?

“But the thing is I would say that my dad was extraordinary in Washington in being genuine, being really liked by people on both sides, being close to people from the conservative wing of the party but also very close to the Congressional Black Caucus as well,” he said. “He went to Berkeley and had 7,000 kids on their feet. He went to Liberty University and had 7,000 conservative Christian kids on their feet. So that's a rare figure in politics.

Shepherd’s Crook Hopes To Move Into New Site

The Shepherd’s Crook of St. Paul’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church will be moving to a new temporary location to continue its food ministry. That new site is expected to be the county-owned building on Caroline Street that was used as a health center.

“If all goes well, this weekend we’ll make the move,” church Sexton Joe Fisher said Tuesday. “The nice part is we won’t be standing out in the cold.”

After the devastating Nov. 26 fire that killed two, the man who set himself ablaze before entering the Third Street building and Rev. David Dingwall, who had been in his upstairs office, and injured one, the Shepherd’s Crook moved to Connor’s Beach Café on the Boardwalk at Second Street. It then moved briefly to His Praise Place/Lands End Fellowship on Worcester Street and then returned to Connor’s.

A Message From Dan Bongino

Daniel Bongino
I have some great news to share. Thanks to you all, we shocked the Maryland political elites by mobilizing our grassroots following and out fundraising nearly every sitting Congressman in Maryland, including my multi-millionaire opponent.

Even more incredible, we received more in individual donations than my wealthy, and connected, opponent received in total. This was all thanks to you because although our donations, on average, were relatively small, they were numerous.

I simply do not have the words to express my profound gratitude for your continued support. You can, and have, made a difference. More importantly, you sent a message, that the days of connected insiders and political party elites shoving their elitist candidates and distorted messages down our throats are over.

Bipartisan House Group Asks Obama For Intel Director's Head Due To NSA Lie

Six House members asked President Obama to fire James Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence who admitted to giving Congress the "least untruthful" answer he could about National Security Agencyprograms, in a letter sent Monday.

“The continued role of James Clapper as Director of National Intelligence is incompatible with the goal of restoring trust in our security programs and ensuring the highest level of transparency,” the lawmakers -- Reps. Darrell Issa, R-Calif.; Alan Grayson, D-Fla.; Ted Poe, R-Texas; Paul Broun, R-Ga.; Doug Collins, R-Ga.; and Walter Jones, R-N.C. -- wrote. “Director Clapper continues to hold his position despite lying toCongress, under oath, about the existence of bulk data collection programs in March 2013.”

Md. Could Rescind 1861 Vote To Protect Slavery

At a hearing Thursday, the Montgomery County Democrat urged Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee colleagues to support the measure.

How To Debunk The ‘War On Women’

What is it about women that causes leading Republicans to grow clumsy, if not stupid? When even savvy, fluent, attractively populist Mike Huckabee stumbles, you know you’ve got trouble. Having already thrown away eminently winnable Senate seats in Missouri and Indiana because of moronic talk about rape, the GOP might have learned. You’d think.

Huckabee wasn’t quite as egregious, just puzzling and a bit weird. Trying to make a point about Obamacare mandating free contraceptives, he inexplicably began speculating that the reason behind the freebie was the Democrats’ belief that women need the federal government to protect them from their own libidos.

Bizarre. I can think of no Democrat who has ever said that, nor any liberal who even thinks that. Such a theory, when offered by a conservative, is quite unfortunately self-revealing.

In any case, why go wandering into the psychology of female sexuality in the first place? It’s ridiculous. This is politics. Stick to policy. And there’s a good policy question to be asked about the contraceptive mandate (even apart from its challenge to religious freedom). It’s about priorities. By what moral logic does the state provide one woman with co-pay-free contraceptives while denying the same subvention to another woman when she urgently needs antibiotics for her sick child?

Dels. Act On Minimum Wage Hike

Lower shore legislators have pitched changes to an obscure part of the tax code – known as “subtraction modification” – as a means to alleviate the increasingly likely possibility of a minimum wage increase in Maryland.

State Sen. Jim Mathias and Delegate Norm Conway have cross-filed Senate Bill 0059 and House Bill 0397, respectively, both of which would create an income subtraction for the “add-back” tax benefit given to those employers with payroll taxes for tipped employees above the minimum wage.

“The goal is for the employers to enjoy the same tax treatment in Maryland as they do with the federal government,” Mathias said.

Similarly, Del. Mike McDermott is pushing House Bill 0075, which would create a similar subtraction for income from certain retirement investments.

“Basically, it would exempt that first $50,000 of retirement income from someone’s tax schedule,” McDermott said. “I think it would make us more competitive with some other sates around us that don’t have income tax or already exempt retirement income, so they’re more attractive to people in their later years.”

His lover Andrew Devere, a male prostitute, gave police a laundry list of reasons for the killing, including that Boyer, a surfer and unemployed chef, constantly put him down, made him beg for drugs and had a habit of breaking wind in his face.

Garlic: Ancient Cure Backed By Science

For more than 4,000 years, garlic has been used as medicine. Athletes at the first Olympics in ancient Greece ate it to enhance performance, and both Greek and Roman soldiers believed it boosted strength and courage. More recently, scientists have been finding that the odiferous bulb can keep us in good health, and more than 3,800 scientific articles have been published about garlic since 1945.

Eating one or two cloves each day is one option, but it may not appeal to your taste buds – or to those within smelling distance.

Odorless Alternative

Supplements are a simple alternative. One particular type of supplement — aged garlic extract — has been studied more than any other. Made from organically grown garlic and aged without the use of heat, it’s odorless and proven to help the heart, improve resistance to colds, reduce damage to blood vessels from elevated blood sugar or diabetes, and reduce risk for colorectal cancers and Alzheimer’s disease.

TWO SENTENCES THAT DESERVE THOUGHT

These two, short sentences tell you a lot about what our government has forced on us:

1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics. Funny how that works.

And here’s another one worth considering.

2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. How come we never hear about welfare running out of money? What's interesting is the first group "worked for" their money, but the second didn't.

Think about it.....

Md. Superintendents Criticize Implementation Of School Reforms

The document, approved by 22 of Maryland’s 24 superintendents from districts educating more than 800,000 students, asks for more time and resources to put the reforms in place, including the use of newCommon Core tests expected in the 2014-2015 school year. The statement (which you can read here) represents the first time that such a high percentage of schools chiefs in Maryland have come together to publicly call out education officials over school reform.

I have never met my uncle from Kenya who is in the country illegally and that was arrested and told to leave the country over 20 years ago
And, I have never lived with that uncle. (He finally admitted today, (12-05-2013) that he DID know his uncle and that he DID live with him.

And the biggest one of all:
"I, Barrack Hussein Obama, pledge to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America."

Md. Has 37 Deaths From Heroin, Fentanyl Overdoses

BALTIMORE - Maryland's medical examiner says there have been at least 37 deaths since September in the state from a batch of heroin that is tainted with fentanyl.

Dr. David Fowler said Friday that the 37 deaths represent about 12 percent of the 318 overdose deaths during that period.

Ten of the deaths occurred in Baltimore, but Fowler says the deaths appear to be widespread in the state and not limited to any specific area.

HISTORICAL COMMENTS BY GEORGE CHEVALLIER 2-1-14

EAST SALISBURY STREETS

The origins of the names of the streets of East Salisbury as recounted by L. Thomas Parker, Sr. in 1950 in the Salisbury Times.

There is no mention is the history books of Mr. Hastings.

Baker St. - after J. L. Baker

Troopers Step Up Patrols For Super Bowl Sunday And Remind Everyone To “Choose Your Ride”

Dover- The Delaware State Police will be out in full force patrolling the roadways this weekend to ensure that everyone is driving with due care and offering assistance to motorists in need. Troopers want to remind everyone to enjoy the weekend festivities leading up to Super Bowl Sunday, and remember to “Choose Your Ride” by making the smart choice of having a designated driver or calling a cab if fans decide to drink and drive this weekend.

“Through the continued partnership of the Delaware State Police and The Delaware Office of Highway Safety, we continue to combat and raise awareness of the deadly consequences of drunk driving,” said Sergeant Paul G. Shavack, Director of Public Information for the Delaware State Police. “We hope that the “Choose Your Ride” campaign and police cruiser-cab send a simple but powerful message and serves as a great visual reminder to “Choose Your Ride” before getting behind the wheel intoxicated.”

Troopers will be conducting DUI Saturation Patrols and DUI Checkpoints on our highways during Super Bowl weekend festivities. Troopers will also focus on distracted driving, motorists not wearing seat belts, unrestrained children in vehicles, and any aggressive driving behaviors such as speeding, following too close, and especially, driving under the influence.

By following these easy steps, a driver can enjoy safe weekend travel without jeopardizing their life or the lives of others who may be on the road:

Ensure all occupants are properly restrained

Plan a safe way home before the festivities begin

Before drinking, please designate a sober driver and give that person your keys

If you’re impaired, use a taxi, call a sober friend or family member, or use public transportation so you are sure to get home safely

If you see a drunk or aggressive driver on the road, immediately contact 911 as soon as safely possible

If you know someone who is about to drive while impaired, take their keys and help them make other arrangements to get to where they are going safely

12 Reasons To Avoid Any Kind Of Soy

Soy has become a major source of toxicity for human beings, especially in the last three decades. Not only is more than 99% of soy genetically modified, but sources labeled organic or non-GMO are often exposed to the same problems as conventional soy. If you consume processed foods, soy is almost impossible to avoid. With the exception of wheat, there are few foods that are causing as many health problems as soy in the food supply. Here are 12 reasons to avoid any kind of soy.

1. Soy Reduces Assimilation of Minerals

Phytic acid is present in the bran or hulls of all seeds and when we compare the phytate of soy to many other types of beans and nuts, the percent mass is not that far off, but that’s not the problem. The problem is how much we are consuming. Most people stuck on the soy bandwagon are consuming far more phytate by the sheer volume through mass consumption of things like soy milk, tofu, cereals, and processed foods. It doesn’t even compare to the amount they would consume through seeds and nuts. The effect of phytic acid on iron absorption has been thoroughly studied. As evident in a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, as phytic acid increases, it has a diminishing impact on iron while inhibiting its absorption. This applies to almost every major mineral including zinc–one of the most important minerals for the human body. Two billion people may now have zinc deficiency. Phytates bind to zinc and thereby decrease its bioavailability. Phytic acid levels in soy reduce assimilation of calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc.

OCPD ARREST DOVER MAN AFTER A PURSUIT

Alex Ryan Little
On January 31, 2014, at approximately 2:40 a.m. Ocean City police officers were on marked patrol in the area of Coastal Highway and 100th Street they observed a vehicle traveling southbound at a high rate of speed. Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop in the area of 62nd Street after officers observed the vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit, however; the driver of the vehicle did not stop.

The driver, later identified as Alex Ryan Little, 24, of Dover, DE, continued to travel southbound on Philadelphia Avenue until the vehicle failed to negotiate the turn at N. Division Street, struck the center median and collided with an electrical box. The electrical box caught on fire and power was briefly disrupted to the south end of Ocean City. Traffic on route 50 was also disrupted, as officers closed eastbound and westbound movement for approximately 30 minutes due to the collision.

Little was arrested by Ocean City police and charged with two counts of driving while under the influence, driving while impaired by alcohol, eluding uniformed police, and negligent and reckless driving in addition to multiple traffic citations.

Neither Little nor any officers were injured during this incident. Alcohol was determined to be a factor. Little was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and released on $25,000 bond.

Obama dumps On Congress, A Lot

From President Obama’s interview with CNN: “Uh, the House Republicans, in particular, have had difficulty rallying around any agenda, much less mine. And in that kind of environment, what I don’t want is the American people to think that the only way for us to make big change is through, uh, legislation… I mean, the truth of the matter is, is that every president engages in executive actions. In fact, we’ve been very disciplined and sparing in terms of the executive actions that we have taken. Uh, we make sure that we're doing it within the authority that we have under statute.”

Congress too unpopular to resist him - “…it’s a tough argument for the other side to make that not only are they willing to do an -- not do anything, but they also want me not to do anything, uh, in which case, um, I think the American people, uh, who’s, right now, estimation of Congress is already pretty low, uh, might, uh, might have an even lower opinion.”

Damning with faint praise – “[Republican support for an immigration overhaul], particularly in this Congress, is a huge, uh, piece of business, because, uh, they haven’t gotten a lot done over the last couple of years out of the House Republican Caucus. They – they’ve been willing to say what they're against, not so much what they're for.”

Widow Of Murdered Cop Wants To Testify At Confirmation Hearing For Controversial Obama Nominee

The widow of a Philadelphia police officer gunned down by a man whose lawyer has been picked by President Obama for a top civil rights post says she wants to testify at his confirmation hearing.

Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, told the Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday that he backed Maureen Faulkner’s request to speak at Debo Adegbile’s nomination hearing.

“She has requested that she be given the opportunity to be heard before the committee,” Grassley said. “I think it’s a reasonable request and I support it.”

Adegbile has been described by critics as “radical,” “dangerous” and “outside the mainstream.”

Mexico Protects Its Borders Better Than U.S.

In Mexico, illegal immigration is not tolerated

Mexico is one of the roughest places for illegal immigrants.

Even though the country’s rural living standards are generally poor, it has its own immigration problems. People from Cuba regularly attempt to cross its borders, and others from Central and South America emigrate there as well.

However, unlike in the U.S., people that enter Mexico illegally can endure harsh detentions, are regarded as felons and can be at any time subject to a citizens’ arrest.

Indeed, one United Nations Human Rights representative upon visiting Mexico’s southern border with Guatemala, remarked,

Mexico is one of the countries where illegal immigrants are highly vulnerable to human rights violations and become victims of degrading sexual exploitation and slavery-like practices, and are denied access to education and healthcare.

The Little Victims Of The State

Freedom of religion means more than just freedom of worship.

An administration as image-conscious as this one should have been more careful in its choice of antagonists. The Little Sisters of the Poor is a Catholic charity providing care to the poorest elderly in a hospice-like setting. They serve 13,000 people in 31 countries, and operate 30 homes in the United States. Their faith calls them to treat every person, no matter how old, disabled, or poor, as if he or she were “Jesus himself.” There is no religious test for admission, only that you be poor and in need of care at the end of life. Think thousands of Mother Teresas. Today, they are facing harassment from the Obama administration.

In 1970, David and Barbara Green founded Hobby Lobby in their garage (which seems to be where all great American businesses are born these days). The family now owns 500 of the arts-and-crafts stores, employing 13,000. They also own Mardel, a chain of Christian bookstores.

Dershowitz, Legal Experts Say Vindictive D’Souza Indictment Came From Higher Up

Famed liberal Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz joined other legal experts in slamming the Obama administration for targeting conservative filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza for campaign finance law violations.

“This is clearly a case of selective prosecution for one of the most common things done during elections, which is to get people to raise money for you,”Dershowitz told Newsmax. “If they went after everyone who did this, there would be no room in jails for murderers.”

D’Souza was indicted last week for making illegal political contributions in the names of others. News of his felony arrest prompted ”Schindler’s List” producer Gerald Molen to say, “I never had the thought that I had reason to think I had to look over my shoulder until now.”

A Comment Worthy Of A Post 1-31-14

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Here's My Thoughts On The Minimum Wage On The East...":

Well I'd like to chime in here. There seems to be something going on that is eluding many. Something going on behind the scenes that is at the root of the entire "increase in the minimum wage" thing. The living wage argument is the carrot the liberals are dangling in front of our noses. The real goal isn't to create a better wage/life for people. The real goal is to generate more revenue. If the tax was ten percent on $10.00 - the revenue generated would be $1.00. That same tax on $7.75 would only be 77.5 cents. It may not seem like a lot but in a year it would be billions of dollars in additional revenue for the federal government. The government needs more revenue to push off financial collapse a little longer. They failed miserably at creating jobs. so they must make more from the ones that still exist. Soon they will eliminate tax write offs such as mortgage interest in an attempt to tax a different socioeconomic group a little more. Think about it. Everything they have done lately they have done with the intent of increasing revenue. Another example is methanol fuel. It's about 15% less efficient than regular unleaded gasoline. You must buy more to travel the same distance. Subsequently you pay more in taxes to travel the same distance. Open up your eyes and see whats right in front of your faces. This minimum wage thing is just another government givaway designed to buy votes and increase revenue by misleading the American public.
