WBOC Is Filtering Out Positive Comments In Your Favor

I've been posting comments in your favor on wboc and they are not being approved.

Food for thought.

Good luck.

COMMENT: That's because Chris Demone works there as the production editor. He is also on Jim Iretons election team. WBOC is supposed to be neutral as a news outlet. I guess they are just like the Daily Times.

Your Tax Money Pays To Expand Shariah Economies

Under Obama’s administration, the U.S. Agency for International Development, or USAID, bears little resemblance to the international aid agency that President John F. Kennedy initiated on Nov. 3, 1961.

USAID’s stated goal was to further “America’s foreign policy interests in expanding democracy and free markets while also extending a helping hand to people struggling to make a better life, recover from a disaster or striving to live in a free and democratic country.”

However, upon issuing the first USAID loan guarantee of $1.15 million to an Islamic bank in Indonesia in August 2011, the agency’s blog justified the move, stating: “The finance guarantee agreement builds on President Obama’s speech in Cairo, which called for deeper engagement with the Muslim world.”

'RIOT' INVOLVES DOZENS AT PENNSYLVANIA SCHOOL

Racial violence around the country is spreading into schools and growing in intensity. And thanks to YouTube, school district superintendents and the media are having a harder time denying it.

The latest episode took place this week in Woodland Hills High School in Swissvale, a suburb of Pittsburgh. For two days, 70 black students – and some parents – were punching, kicking, and terrorizing themselves and neighbors.

A “riot,” said Swissvale police chief Greg Geppert.

Biden’s Faulty Lifeguard Logic

“As the president said, if your actions result in only saving one life, they’re worth taking,” Vice President Joe Biden declared on Wednesday as he previewed what his commission on gun violence might actually do.

“There are executive orders, there’s executive action that can be taken. We haven’t decided what that is yet. But we’re compiling it all with the help of the attorney general and the rest of the Cabinet members as well as legislative action that we believe is required.”

Biden insisted that it is a moral imperative for the White House to do something: “It’s critically important that we act.”

Most of the attention, understandably, is on Biden’s suggestion that the president will consider using executive orders to do things he couldn’t possibly accomplish legislatively. The imperial presidency is always troubling, but when it rubs up against the Bill of Rights it is especially so.

But what I find to be arguably the most disturbing — and definitely the most annoying — part of Biden’s remarks is this nonsense about if it saves only one life, the White House’s actions would be worth it.

Maybe it’s because I wrote a whole book on the way phrases like “if it saves only one life, it’s worth it” distort our politics, but whenever I hear such things the hairs on the back of my neck go up.

Gun Critics Challenged To Be Without Their Guns

A spokesman for a foundation that successfully has battled in court to uphold the Constitution’s Second Amendment is challenging not only politicians but celebrities who think the American public should be disarmed to go without their own firearms protections.

“That would include Joe Biden’s shotguns,” said Alan Gottlieb, executive vice president of the Second Amendment Foundation, “and the armed security now enjoyed by Sens. Chuck Schumer and Dianne Feinstein and Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi.”

He said such leading opponents of gun ownership should begin the process and “lead by example” through repudiation of any of their own firearms as well as the “armed security” they now have.

Update On Brooke Mulford

In the ER at CHOP. Throwing up all day, fatigue, severe headache and left knee pain. Please pray this is just from the chemo and not that her cancer is progressing.

The War On Drugs

The nation’s most influential state could be taking a big step in the right direction when it comes to stopping Richard Nixon’s failed drug war. In his State of the State Address on Wednesday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said that decriminalization of marijuana possession is one of his top legislative priorities this year. Referring to the thousands of people in the state who are busted for non-violent drug possession, Cuomo said, “It’s not fair, it’s not right. It must end, and it must end now.” Already, the number of marijuana arrests in New York is expected to decline, now that the courts have barred “stop and frisk” searches without reasonable suspicion. About half of all the people arrested in New York City for pot possession were targets of a "stop and frisk." After California decriminalized marijuana – arrests for the drug dropped 61% - which means fewer taxpayer dollars being funneled into an unwinnable drug war. It's time for the rest of the nation to chill out like California, Washington, Colorado, and, hopefully, New York state.

SO WHAT IS AN ‘ASSAULT RIFLE’ REALLY? WE LOOK AT THE DEFINITIONS AND HOW THE TERM IS ‘DEMONIZED’

“Make a promise to yourself that you will stop calling rifles ‘assault weapons.’”

That’s what Glenn Beck said on his morning radio show Thursday as he discussed AR-15s. But why? Is an AR-15 not an assault rifle? Does the “AR” in AR-15 not stand for “assault rifle”?

It doesn’t. In fact, it doesn’t mean “automatic rifle” either, as many might think. AR actually stands for ArmaLite rifle, which is the company that first developed it in the 1950s.

So-Called Free Trade Is Destroying Our National Manufacturing Base

According to a new report by the National Bureau of Economic Research, free trade relations with China, beginning in 2000, are responsible for killing off 30% of the manufacturing jobs we had in this nation. You can see this decline in the raw numbers. Around 2001, there were 17 million manufacturing jobs in America. Today, that’s collapsed to 11.5 million. And, according to the Economic Policy Institute, nearly 3 million of those lost manufacturing jobs went directly to China since 2001. Thanks to so-called Free Trade, our "job creators" are exporting those crucial blue-collar jobs that once sustained a prosperous middle class, from the end of World War 2 all the way until the 1980’s. And without those jobs, Americans are forced into the minimum wage service sector, asking, “Would you like Fries with that?” or greeting people at the door saying, “Welcome to Wal-Mart.” This is exactly what the transnational billionaires who push for these trade agreements want. And until we drop out of these so-called free trade agreements, and once again begin protecting domestic manufacturing with tariffs or VAT taxes – the middle class will continue to shrink – and America will look more and more like a Third-World nation.

COURT RULES UNBORN IS 'CHILD'

A ruling from the Alabama Supreme Court has concluded that a reference in state law that prevents exposing children to dangerous chemicals also protects an unborn child.

While the decision itself is unrelated to abortion, in a court where at least one justice has advocated overturning Roe v. Wade the decision today in Ankrom v. State undoubtedly will be referenced again.

The case upheld the convictions of two women, Hope Ankrom of Coffee County and Amanda Kimbrough of Colbert County, who were prosecuted for using drugs during their pregnancies.

WalMart Empire Clashes With China

Typically when we hear “WalMart” and “China” in the same sentence, we picture the “made in” labels on our toys, gadgets, and the other mass-produced stuff that we grab off the shelves at low, low prices. But WalMart’s vast retail empire has a whole other wing in the Middle Kingdom. As the brand has expanded aggressively into the coveted China market, it has engendered a new wave of Chinese shoppers--and legions of workers to serve them. The rise of a Westernized consumer culture has also generated familiar tensions around labor, inequality and workplace rights.

Just in time, too: As demonstrations have mushroomed at WalMart stores and warehouses nationwide, a disgruntled WalMart employee has led a small uprising in the coastal boomtown of Shenzhen. His agitating and organizing work has been bolstered by a partnership with SACOM, a Hong Kong-based labor rights organization that has previously taken on the notorious Apple manufacturer Foxconn.

Hobby Lobby did not return phone calls seeking further comment.

The Return Of Mercantilism

The liberal model views the state as necessarily predatory and the private sector as inherently rent-seeking. So it advocates a strict separation between the state and private business. Mercantilism, by contrast, offers a corporatist vision in which the state and private business are allies and cooperate in pursuit of common objectives, such as domestic economic growth or national power.

The mercantilist model can be derided as state capitalism or cronyism. But when it works, as it has so often in Asia, the model’s “government-business collaboration” or “pro-business state” quickly garners heavy praise. Lagging economies have not failed to notice that mercantilism can be their friend. Even in Britain, classical liberalism arrived only in the mid-nineteenth century – that is, after the country had become the world’s dominant industrial power.

A second difference between the two models lies in whether consumer or producer interests are privileged. For liberals, consumers are king. The ultimate objective of economic policy is to increase households’ consumption potential, which requires giving them unhindered access to the cheapest-possible goods and services.

Mercantilists, by contrast, emphasize the productive side of the economy. For them, a sound economy requires a sound production structure. And consumption needs to be underpinned by high employment at adequate wages.

These different models have predictable implications for international economic policies. The logic of the liberal approach is that the economic benefits of trade arise from imports: the cheaper the imports, the better, even if the result is a trade deficit. Mercantilists, however, view trade as a means of supporting domestic production and employment, and prefer to spur exports rather than imports.

Today’s China is the leading bearer of the mercantilist torch, though Chinese leaders would never admit it – too much opprobrium still attaches to the term.

You Can't Call a Pretty Girl Pretty; What Kind of Country Are We Becoming?

Before examining the ridiculous controversy stemming from Monday night’s college football championship broadcast, let us stipulate that there are more urgent and scary ways to describe the current changes in America.

We are becoming a culture of dependency. We are becoming a neo-socialist experiment. We are becoming a dumbed-down nation unappreciative of its founders. We are losing touch with the Constitution and the very concept of liberty.

I do not argue that today’s essay is our most pressing problem. But as scores of fine writers address the various angles of our republic’s dangle from a precarious thread, I thought I’d venture to the periphery to lament another type of change which accrues to our societal detriment.

THE FIGHT FOR OUR COUNTRY

The fight for our country is heating up. The liberal progressives are trying to remake and reform this country in their own socialist image. Everyone else is trying to hold onto the constitution and bill of rights with all their might. And who wins will define what America 2.0 looks like. If we lose this fight, we will be socialists and communists, in theory and in fact, and will follow all the other examples of tyranny down the road of destruction.

Are we going to be a free people or are we going to be proletariat slaves? The liberals hate the Constitution and the freedoms it affords. They think they know better, and think they know what is better for you and I. They have a majority voting block now (the FSA and government union drones) and are ramming through as many tax increases and directives to remove our rights and freedoms as they can. They created 20,000 new laws in 2012.

The fight for our country is heating up. It is a fight for the heart and soul of this country. Do what you can NOW while you are still able. It won’t be the U.S.A. anymore, it is becoming the USSA.

A 5 Step Plan To Significantly Reduce Gun Violence In The US

1. Abolish the DEA and end the war on drugs. A large part of gun violence comes as a result of the drug market being forced underground. Drug dealers have to shoot to stay alive, just like Al Capone had to during Prohibition.
End the drug war and drugs would be sold at drugstores by little old lady cashiers – -and at a fraction of the price – thus reducing all kinds of drug related crime.
2. Abolish the FDA and government involvement in drugs. Big pharma, which owns the FDA and the White House, is behind the mind altering drugs that have been taken by many of the crazed shooters. Drugs paid for and promoted by the government. Let's end the government promotion of these drugs, which can turn young men mad.

New Rule Means Banks Will Have To Make Sure Borrowers Can Actually Repay Mortgages

When the housing market collapsed five years ago, it was due in no small part to mortgage lenders who handed out loans without really considering whether or not the borrower could ultimately pay that money back. Hoping to minimize the chances of this happening again, regulators have introduced a new rule today.
The rule, announced by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and mandated by the 2010 Dodd-Frank financial reform overhaul, essentially requires mortgage lenders to ensure that prospective buyers have the ability to repay their mortgages.

Louisiana Governor Jindal Proposes Ending State Income Tax

NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - Republican Governor Bobby Jindal said on Thursday he wants to eliminate all Louisiana personal and corporate income taxes to simplify the state's tax code and make it more friendly to business.

"Our goal is to eliminate all personal income tax and all corporate income tax in a revenue neutral manner," Jindal said in the statement.

He did not confirm reports that he will seek an increase in sales taxes in order to offset lost income tax revenue, but said: "We want to keep the sales tax as low and flat as possible."

Duking It Out

Virginia and Maryland are duking it out over the next FBI headquarters. Virginia lawmakers told our sister station WTOP they have the edge. They say it would be so easy for the 12,000 FBII workers to zip down to the bureau's lab at Quantico or the Pentagon. But in Maryland, both Prince Georges and Montgomery counties are interested in hosting the bureau. The FBI is looking for at least 55 acres with a large buffer area for security. But it also needs to be close to major roads and public transit.

TOP-11 "ONLY IN AMERICA "

OBSERVATIONS -- BY A CANADIAN

1) Only in America could the rich people - who pay 86% of all income taxes - be accused of not
paying their "fair share" by people who don't pay any income taxes at all.

2) Only in America could people claim that the government still discriminates
against black Americans when they have a black President, a black Attorney
General, and roughly 18% of the federal workforce is black while only 12% of the
population is black

3) Only in America could they have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner, the head
of the Treasury Department and Charles Rangel who once ran the Ways and Means Committee, BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.

4) Only in America can they have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react

by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash.

5) Only in America would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home
countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege while we discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just 'magically' become American citizens.

6) Only in America could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country's Constitution be thought of as "extremists."

7) Only in America could you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote.

8) Only in America could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public because the

price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. oil company (Marathon Oil) is less than half of a company making tennis shoes (Nike).

9) Only in America could the government collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a Trillion dollars more than it has per year - for total spending of $7-Million PER MINUTE, and complain that it doesn't have nearly enough money.

10) Only in America could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000.00 a plate campaign fund-raising event.

11) Only in America can a man with no background, no qualifications and no experience ... and a complete failure at his job ... be reelected.

EBT Abuse: The Cash-for-Drunkards Program

From New York to New Mexico and across the dependent plains, welfare recipients are getting sauced on the public dime. Drunk, besotted, bombed. But while politicians pay lip service to cutting government waste, fraud and abuse, they're doing very little in practice to stop the EBT party excesses. Where's the compassion for taxpayers?

You see the signs everywhere: "We accept EBT." Fast-food restaurants do. Clothing retailers do. Auto repair shops, liquor stores and even sushi joints are joining the club. "EBT" stands for the federal government's electronic benefits transfer card, which is intended to provide poor people with food stamps and cash assistance for basic necessities. The two separate programs were combined into one ATM-like card designed to reduce the "stigma" attached to Nanny State dependency, and -- voila! -- an entirely new method of mooching was born.

If the idea was to eliminate the embarrassment of life on the dole, the social justice crowd succeeded phenomenally. Last weekend, the New York Post blew the lid off scammers who brazenly swiped their EBT cards "inside Hank's Saloon in Brooklyn; the Blue Door Video porn shop in the East Village; The Anchor, a sleek SoHo lounge; the Patriot Saloon in TriBeCa; and Drinks Galore, a liquor distributor in The Bronx." Out: Cash for clunkers. In: Cash for drunkards!

Perdue, Family Seeking $3M In Attorney Fees

Three weeks after a U.S. District Court judge issued a ruling in the landmark civil suit filed against a Berlin farm family and Perdue over alleged pollution violations dating back to 2009, the victorious defendants in the case this week filed separate motions seeking a combined $3 million in attorney fees and other associated costs.

In March 2010, the New York-based Waterkeeper Alliance, along with the Assateague Coastal Trust and the Assateague Coastkeeper, filed suit in U.S. District Court against Perdue and Berlin’s Hudson Farm, a contract factory farm operation of about 80,000 birds. The suit was filed after sampling in ditches adjacent to the property allegedly revealed high levels of harmful fecal coliform and E. coli in concentrations that exceed state limits in violation of the Clean Water Act.

After three years of legal wrangling, the case finally went to trial in October and concluded after 10 days of testimony during which experts on both sides testified on the merits of the case. In late December, U.S. District Court Judge William Nickerson ruled in favor of the defendants Perdue and Alan Hudson, opining the Waterkeeper Alliance did not prove a Clean Water Act violation.

Salisbury Salary Study Delayed

The bidding process to find a group that will conduct a salary study for Salisbury employees was delayed this week so that the terms of the deal could be revised to include benefits as well as salary in the review.

Additionally, which of the half-dozen potential agencies that applied will eventually conduct the study is unknown since there is disagreement between the council and the administration over the bids.

After the delay, Councilwoman Laura Mitchell accused the majority of the council of trying to purposefully stonewall the study, which would determine whether city employees are compensated fairly compared to neighboring areas.

“I see this as a stalling tactic by this council majority,” she said. “They keep coming up with other reasons to put it off and put it off and put it off.”

Eric Holder: Gun Owners Should 'Cower' in Shame Like Smokers

The hot new video at MRCTV.org is 1995 footage of Attorney General Eric Holder, when he was the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia. In his remarks before the Woman's National Democratic Club, broadcast by CSPAN 2, Holder said people should be ashamed to own guns, just the way that cigarette smokes now "cower outside of buildings" to smoke.

"What we need to do is change the way in which people think about guns, especially young people, and make it something that's not cool, that it's not acceptable, it's not hip to carry a gun anymore, in the way in which we’ve changed our attitudes about cigarettes. You know, when I was growing up, people smoked all the time. Both my parents did. But over time, we changed the way that people thought about smoking, so now we have people who cower outside of buildings and kind of smoke in private and don’t want to admit it.” Laughter followed. Obama Signs Bill Giving Him Armed Protection For Life

Despite launching a gun control agenda that threatens to disarm the American people, President Obama has signed a bill that would afford him armed Secret Service protection for life.

“The legislation, crafted by Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, rolls back a mid-1990s law that imposed a 10-year limit on Secret Service protection for former presidents. Bush would have been the first former commander in chief affected,” reports Yahoo News.

The new bill, which will cost American taxpayers millions of dollars, is a re-instatement of a 1965 law which will see presidents protected for life as well as their children up to age 16.

The irony of Obama seeking to surround himself with armed men for the rest of his life while simultaneously working to disarm the American people via a gun control agenda that is likely to be enforced via executive decree represents the height of hypocrisy.

Minority Report Has Arrived: Maryland And Pennsylvania Using Computers To Predict Future Crimes

  • Parole officers use software to decide level of supervision for ex-inmates
  • Uses algorithm devised by American criminology professor Richard Berk
When police in Minority Report predicted who would commit crimes and stopped them before they did it, it was considered so futuristic, the film was set in 2054.

Now, however, law enforcers in two American states are using crime-prediction software to predict which freed prisoners are most likely to commit murder, and supervising them accordingly.

Instead of relying on parole officers to decide how much supervision inmates will need on the outside by looking at their records, the new system uses a computer algorithm to decide for them.

Panic In California As Thousands Of Food Stamps Cards Suffer Brief Outage

This past weekend, as part of a system update to the CalWIN software of California's Social Services department, HP accidentally cancelled EBT cards for some 37,000 Californians. We can only imagine the resulting panic and the scramble by all these Californians who suddenly could not live within their means to print trillion, and other denomination, coins, in the shining example of their government. The OC Register reports that eighteen counties were affected in theCalFresh chaos (the 'friendly' name given to California's food stamp program - also formerly known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP). While we worry for the strippers and liquor stores, CalWIN and Xerox (the state's primary contractor for administering CalFresh) developed a process to reactivate the cards by Tuesday morning. While this must have been a tough day or two for many, we wonder if Geithner's 'extraordinary' efforts to extend the debt ceiling deadline have perhaps gone a little too far?

Finally, instead of minting coins, perhaps Hewlett Packard can remotely update its software in the Fed printers, which can then proceed to print a few cool extra trillion unsupervised, and voila: all of America's problems are gone.
