Court Halts California Gay Marriages Pending Appeal

SAN FRANCISCO – A federal appeals court put same-sex weddings in California on hold indefinitely Monday while it considers the constitutionality of the state's gay marriage ban.

The decision, issued by a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, trumped a lower court judge's order that would have allowed county clerks to begin issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples on Wednesday.

Lawyers for the two gay couples that challenged the ban said Monday they would not appeal the panel's decision on the stay to the U.S. Supreme Court. They said they were satisfied the appeals court had agreed to expedite its consideration of the Proposition 8 case by scheduling oral arguments for the week of Dec. 6.

"We are very gratified that the 9th Circuit has recognized the importance and the pressing nature of this case by issuing this extremely expedited briefing schedule," said Ted Boutrous, a member of the plaintiffs' legal team. "Proposition 8 harms gay and lesbian citizens every day it remains on the books."

Major Accident At Naylor Mill & Rt. 50 Bypass

At approx 1:45pm station 16 was alerted to a motor vehicle crash with injuries
at the intersection of Naylor Mill Rd and the Rt.50 bypass.

One of the vehicles involved was a six or eight wheeled commercial "box truck" in which the truck had over-turned.

All lanes of traffic at both intersections of the Rt.50 bypass on Naylor Mill Rd. I do not know how many people were taken to the hospital nor do I have info on the injuries. I was, however, told by an official on the scene that "several" people were transported.

Fire officials cleared the scene at 2:45pm, but the road is still closed and will remain that way until an accident reconstruction is completed (Sheriff Mike Lewis is even there to assist with the investigation!). The investigation will take at least a few hours to complete.

In fact, they had to call the Maryland State Police reconstruction team from
Somerset Co. to come up and perform the task.

The public is asked to PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THAT AREA!!! No one will be allowed to pass through. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Will Wicomico Council Support Pollitt’s Enviro-Left Agenda?

Four years ago Rick Pollitt was elected Wicomico County’s first County Executive.  He ran claiming to be a “conservative Democrat”.  Since then we’ve learned that he’s anything but.

The latest evidence of Pollitt’s leftward tilt is his most recent appointment to the county’s planning commission – Jacob Day.  An employee of the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy, Day claims that he’s not anti-development.  So does the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and every other group that recently worked with Pollitt to steal the property rights of our county’s farmers.  I’m also sure that Day would also state that he would place the law first in making decisions if actually confirmed a member of the commission.  We’ve heard this all before.

Will a majority of our county council support Pollitt’s enviro-left agenda?  We’ll find out tomorrow …

A Letter To The Editor

Dear Editor,

It is with a heavy heart that I write to you today.

I am a mother of a child with Autism and an advocate for all individuals and families of children with disabilities.

I was appalled recently by an incident that was brought to my attention which happened at a local health department.

Apparently, an employee referred to my son as being retarded.

First of all, the law has been passed called Rosa’s Law that eliminates the ‘R’ word and replaces it with Intellectually Challenged.

We cannot expect the general public to know about this change but I do expect an employee working in the health field to be educated and to respect an individual’s wright to not be degraded by the use of such a word.

Unfortunantly we hear this word being used on the radio, all across facebook, and by the public every day.

Our children are personally effected by these labels every day they do understand more that we realize they do!

My suggestion to our local health department and others working with the public is that they should educate their employees of ‘peson first’ language.

We are all individuals first.

Cordially,

Jackie Wheatley

Rep. Kratovil And Obamacare

Hey Joe –

I just saw your post on Rep. Kratovil and thought you may be interested in learning a little more about Heritage Action for America, a 501(c)4 spin-off of The Heritage Foundation.

One of our major campaigns is the repeal of Obamacare. Given Rep. Kratovil’s vote against the measure, he should be in favor of repeal. Unfortunately, he is not. Thus, we are working with supporters and donors in his district to bring some heat on him for his implicit support of the law’s implementation.

· Press Release: Kratovil Absent from Repeal Effort
· Video: Repeal Obamacare Launch Video
· Press Release: Grassroots Leaders Unite to Repeal Obamacare
· Op-ed: Time for Clarity on Obamacare

Our campaign focuses on a legislative tool called a Discharge Petition. It allows a majority of the House (218 Members), to force a vote on a bill the Speaker does not want to consider.

Why Japan Has The Best Healthcare

It’s Just What the Doctor Ordered
Japan shows how it’s done: keep quality up, costs down, and M.D.s on board.

To gauge a health-care system’s success, it’s standard to consider three points: quality, coverage, and cost. On all three measures, Japan stands at or near the top in every comparative ranking.

Quality: The Japanese have the world’s longest life expectancy and the best recovery rates from just about every major disease. Infant mortality is less than half the U.S. rate. Japan usually leads the world in rankings of “avoidable mortality”—its effectiveness in curing diseases that can be cured.

Coverage: Japan’s health-insurance sys-tem covers everybody, including illegal aliens. It pays for physical, mental, dental, and long-term care. The Japanese are the world’s most prodigious consumers of medical care; on average they see the doctor about 15 times per year, three times the U.S. norm. They get twice as many prescriptions per capita and three times as many MRI scans. The average hospital stay is 20 nights—four times the U.S. average.

Cost: And yet Japan produces all that high-quality care at bargain-basement prices. The aging nation spends about $3,500 per person on health care each year; America burns through $7,400 per person and still leaves millions without coverage.

The October Surprise Is Coming

The October Surprise. We all know it's coming. In what shape, idea, form -- who's to say? Evil always surprises. Its goals are constant, the ultimate objective never changes, but inevitably it manifests itself as the savior of the day, the savior of man. The 2008 Democrat October Surprise that ushered in the first hardcore radical post-American president in American history was the "economic collapse." Oh yes, that was a beaut.

The time before that, the moochers and the looters tried to fake Bush documents -- except that the conservative blogosphere caught them red-handed, so they missed their mark.

But the party of haters, infiltrators, anti-capitalists, the party that is anti-freedom and anti-individual rights, is going to have to pull off something really catastrophic to stay in power this November. And they will, because it is abundantly clear now that they despise the premise of America and they mean to replace it with statism, the source of untold, incomprehensible human misery for centuries.

Ayn Rand wrote of statism that

"a statist system -- whether of a communist, fascist, Nazi, socialist or 'welfare' type -- is based on the ... government's unlimited power, which means: on the rule of brute force. ... Under statism, the government is not a policeman, but a legalized criminal that holds the power to use physical force in any manner and for any purpose it pleases against legally disarmed, defenseless victims."

With chilling prescience, Rand said, "The basic principle and the ultimate results of all statist doctrines are the same: dictatorship and destruction. The rest is only a matter of time."

Only a matter of time.

We have a long and terrible fight in front of us. The fight is as big as the idea, the foundation, the being of this great nation, the fight for America. Yes, it's as big as all that, and the enemy is ruthless, unscrupulous, and evil -- and willing to do whatever it takes to assume absolute control. They build nothing, produce nothing, create nothing, invent nothing. They steal. They demand. They demoralize. They are destroyers.

What will October's Surprise be?

Jennifer Foxwell Invited To The Dr. Phil Show, But For Reasons You Might Not Expect

Sarah Foxwell's Mother, Jennifer Foxwell, has been invited to California for a very special edition of the Dr. Phil Show. No, this Show is not about Sex Offenders, it's about Cyber Bullying.

You see Folks, those same Blogs that attack me on a daily basis have been attacking Jennifer Foxwell but even more importantly they have been seriously attacking her minor children as well. They have even used every child's name, (all but one are minors).

Many phone calls have been made to the States Attorneys Office referencing this matter and many e-mail messages with their Posts have been provided in the hopes someone might be able to do something about Jonathan Taylor, Billy Burke and others.

Jennifer Foxwell claims that her children have even been bullied by Thomas Leggs Family Members in school and at ball games.

Dr. Phil wants to openly discuss the information put out there about Jennifer, her children and hopefully my Grandson. Yes, there's a very good chance I will be invited to the Show as well and I have agreed to do so, if they choose to have me.

I too have been asking authorities to do something, anything, against these grown adults who hide behind anonymous as well as Jonathan Taylor. We have been saving such information they have been posting for years now and quite frankly, its about time someone gave it the attention it deserves.

One thing is for sure. When this Show airs, you better believe some of these people are going to be made accountable. Its just a shame it had to take something like the Dr. Phil Show to expose it for what it really is and protect innocent little children.

The Show will be taped in September and we'll keep you posted.

Guys More Likely To Cheat On High-Earning Women

Men who step out may be trying to compensate, new study says

Baffled by how Jesse James could have cheated on his superstar wife, Sandra Bullock ? Or why Eric Benet stepped out on Halle Berry (Halle Berry!)?

A new study may help explain it. Men who earn significantly less than their female partners, or who earn nothing, are far more likely to cheat than those in relationships where incomes are more or less equal, the study found.

In fact, men who were completely dependent on their partner's income were five times more likely to cheat than men who contributed an equal amount of money to the relationship, according to research presented at the annual meeting of the American Sociological Association.
You’d think such men wouldn’t want to risk their meal ticket. But lower-earning men may be self-medicating their inner macho guy, says Cornell University sociology graduate student Christin Munsch, who conducted the study.

Gay Marriage Opponents Rally At Capitol

More than 100 opponents of same-sex marriage congregated near the Capitol and the Supreme Court on Sunday, in the last stop of the Summer for Marriage tour. Marriage equality supporters marched from the Capitol to Freedom Plaza in opposition.

The National Organization for Marriage -- which, despite its name, opposes gay marriage -- sponsored the "traditional marriage" event. The group is backing D.C. mayoral candidate Leo Alexander and Ward 5 Council candidate Delano Hunter. Speakers at the event included Bishop Harry Jackson, former D.C. congressional delegate Walter Fauntroy, and Bob King, the citys longest-serving advisory neighborhood commissioner.

D.C., of course, embraces gay marriage, and that is unlikely to change after this years election. The national protest tour was sparked primarily by pro-gay marriage campaigns across the county, and by the recent ruling on Californias Proposition 8.

STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR MARTIN O’MALLEY ON BGE’S DECISION TO PROCEED WITH SMART GRID IMPLEMENTATION

ANNAPOLIS, MD (August 16, 2010) – Governor Martin O’Malley issued this statement today following Friday’s Order from the Public Service Commission approving BGE’s Smart Grid Initiative and this morning’s announcement by the company to proceed with implementation:

“I want to congratulate BGE for their decision to move forward with implementation of its smart grid initiative and accept the $200 million in federal investment it has been awarded to offset the initiative’s cost to ratepayers. The project promises to improve the reliability and customer service offered by BGE, further our ability to meet the State’s aggressive EmPOWER Maryland goals, and potentially deliver savings to customers.”

“The Public Service Commission appropriately balanced these promised benefits with the known risks inherent in an initiative of this magnitude by delaying recovery of the costs of the project until the benefits are realized.”

Finally, Relief For White Richardson Road In Pittsville

The residents of Strawberry Village will finally receive long awaited relief from Wicomico County after Pete Richardson ponied up $30,000.00 almost a year ago, (last September) to upgrade the road.

It turns out, (so we're told) the County put Pete's money into the General Fund, rather than into Roads. The County simply spent that money and didn't have the funding until a recent emergency Council Meeting where Pollitt asked for the funding to complete the work on this road.

Residents have had to deal with dust, to the point where the rent had to be reduced at the vegetable stand because the dust became a major problem as well as the fact that the road was closed to thru traffic and business dropped off quite a bit.

Fortunately, TODAY that road is finally being repaved. The residents there will be very happy to learn this news. It should be noted, this property/development pays close to $70,000.00 a year in property taxes.

60 Foot Road

"After the fatal accident involving Sam Vincent, LOOK AGAIN signs were put up at this intersection on Route 50. Doesn't seem to be making a real difference. Just this morning as I was leaving for work there was an accident in the east bound lanes at Sixty Foot Road-three vehicles involved. Looks like everyone was out of their vehicles and okay this time. No emergency crews or police were there yet, and I called 911 and was informed they already had someone on the way. People need to slow down and pay attention."

About 7% Of School Age Children In Maryland Have Illegal Immigrant As A Parent

About 7% of the school age children in Maryland and other states have at least one parent who is an illegal immigrant, according to a new study by the Pew Hispanic Center, but four out of five of these children were born in the United States and are U.S. citizens.

That could mean that as many as 60,000 children in Maryland public schools have at least one parent who is an “unauthorized immigrant,” as the Pew Hispanic Center prefers to call them, but only about 10,000 of the kids are foreign born. State and local taxpayers put out $10,600 to $14,500 a year per pupil for each student.

The Pew Center noted that immigrants tend to be younger and have higher birth rates than native-born Americans, and illegal immigrants are more likely than others to live in households as a couple with children.

Hamas, 10 Other Groups Reject All Forms Of Compromise With Israel

Eleven militant Palestinian groups based in Syria warned on Sunday against a "concession and compromise" policy ahead of a possible round of direct talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

The message from the groups, which include Gaza rulers Hamas as well as the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine factions, appeared directed at Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Abbas is under pressure to enter direct negotiations with Israel, after months of U.S.-brokered proximity talks between the two sides.

Damascus-based Hamas politburo chief Khaled Meshal said Sunday that the factions' representatives issued the statement after discussions held at his house in the Syrian capital and that they rejected all forms of compromise with Israel.

The U.S. and the "Zionists," the statement said, were "aiming to wipe out the national rights of the Palestinians and to cover up the practices of the occupation, settlement expansion and Judaizing the land."

Abbas has said he will not agree to direct talks with Israel without a complete halt to settlement building, agreement on final borders and a timetable for a deal.

State Of War? Border Patrol Has Retreated From Parts Of Border Because It’ s ‘Too Dangerous’

Sheriff Larry Dever of Cochise County, Ariz., one of four Arizona counties contiguous with the U.S-Mexico border, said Friday that the U.S. Border Patrol has pulled back from parts of the border in his and neighboring counties because manning those areas has become too dangerous.

“And you frankly have Border Patrolmen--and I know this from talking to Border Patrol agents—who will not allow their agents to work on the border because it is too dangerous,” Dever told CNSNews.com in a videotaped interview. “Now what kind of message is that for crying out loud?”

Dever, a native of Cochise County, has been in local law enforcement in the county for three decades. He was elected the county sheriff in 1996.

Dever stressed that the Border Patrolmen are ready and willing to perform their mission of securing the border, but that Border Patrol managers had determined that in “some places” the danger was too great and they wanted to avoid the risk of an international incident such as a cross-border firefight.

“Now, I am telling you, the agents, you give them a mission, you tell them what you want them to do, they will go do it,” said Dever. “I mean, these guys for the most part are warriors, they are soldiers.

“Then you have middle management and upper management that says: No, it’s too dangerous right there and we’re going to cause an international incident if there’s shooting across the line, back and forth,” said Dever.

“Well, I say: Come, bring it on. Let’s cause the international incident,” he said.

Why Will The Daily Times Not Cover Local Sports And News?

As I return home from my first year of coaching Wicomico Post 64 American Legion Baseball I am baffled and confused by the Daily Times and their lack of coverage of local Salisbury sports, most recently the legion team's success this past summer.

For as long as I can remember Salisbury Post 64 American Legion Baseball has been a program that has been well respected and has well represented the Salisbury area.

It has always been recognized as one of the highest levels of baseball for our local high school and college players. Some pretty impressive numbers have been put up over the years by some big name local players who have gone on to great college careers and even a few to minor league careers. This program is a large part of baseball in Salisbury and of interest to many of the people of the Eastern Shore who follow baseball, not because I now coach it, but because of it's teams and the reputation they have built over the years.

So when we were playing in, and won, the first ever MD State Championship at the end of July in College Park we just naturally expected the Daily Times to cover our games and keep the community abreast of the teams success. After all, the Baltimore Metro teams and the Western MD teams each had their own beat writers at every game.

We never got a call from the paper during the entire tournament. I communicated the scores and results to Earl Holland and the Daily Times. Results? Nothing! One article on Wednesday August 4th after the tournament was over stating that we had advanced.

So on to Mid Atlantic Regionals and playing against other legion teams representing New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Delaware, and West Virginia. The results of the tournaments first game against W VA were reported to Earl Holland after the game and I was told he would take care of it. I also told him that the games were live on CBS Sports Gametracker each night and he simply thanked me.

That's right, CBS Sports covered the games by Gametracker LIVE on their website each night in 8 different regions around the country and we could not get our local paper to even post a score? What is up with that? All they had to do was go online and follow the games and the scores live. They knew about how to follow us and did not!

We told them about the site, and even asked them to print the website in the paper so Salisbury could follow the team. Results? Nothing!. Scott Abrams from WBOC called and spoke with me and followed Gametracker live posting our scores on WBOC TV. Thank you Scott!

Again I cannot emphasize enough that this is not about me but about the Post 64 baseball program, these players, and Salisbury. Why not just the scores or some communication to the local people? Last week when we came home just 2 games shy of going to the American Legion World Series and having finished the season as one of the best 32 teams in the USA I again called the Times.I asked Earl Holland if he would like to do an article about Post 64 Baseball for the people of Salisbury and for the team members. He said he would call me back the next day. Results? Nothing! I called again and left a message. Results? Nothing!

So frustrating to be so censored. . . to have local news or sports suppressed in favor of what we get every day! Got to be something that we as the people of this area can do!

Local Fundraiser

Hi, My name is Lisa Ray And I was misdiagnosed for over 10 years..Finally two years ago I went out of state to a LLMD and was diagnosed with Chronic Lyme Disease and 3 Co-infections..

I thought my life could not get any worst until 6 months after my diagnoses My 15 year son was also diagnosed with chronic Lyme..

I was fortunate to be able to tell my story on our local TV station a few weeks ago. I was so happy to be able to tell people how bad this disease is and how it can destroy ones life if not caught early.. I'm hoping you can do the same for me and all my Lyme friends.

We need You to do a story on Lyme disease to get the awareness out to the world and to let people know what the IDSA is doing to all of the Lyme sufferers. Lyme Disease is a slow death if not caught early or treated. All we want is to have the chance to live like other disease suffers.. A chance to be treated by our primary doctors..

I primary doctors are scared to death to treat us because they are afraid of losing their licenses. So most that can afford treatment travel hundreds of miles to LLMD that will treat. But because the insurance companies refuse to cover our treatments, all is paid out of pocket and the ones that cant afford, go without treatment like me and my son.

Please let our stories be told so maybe we can make a difference and hopefully change the laws..

Thank you so much for your time..

Frank Kratovil Supports More Debt

Frank Kratovil voted to increase the deficit again. What sense does it make to replace state deficits, especially for states that have been fiscally irresponsible, with more federal debt that the U.S. must borrow or monetize ? But in the trillion dollar phony world being created, what's another measly $26 billion.

And what a deal .... public-sector unions make sure liberal Democrats get elected, and liberal Democrats make sure government employees are guaranteed ever-increasing salaries and sweet pension deals, whether they are affordable or not!. It’s a win-win situation, except for the taxpayer who has to carry the load.

Pelosi House Passes $26 Billion Union Bailout Bill
Congress recesses, but the post-election Lame Duck session will be a nightmare for Americans.

By TVC Executive Director Andrea Lafferty

The House of Representatives had recessed last Friday, but Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) brought the House back into session on August 10 to ram through a $26 billion bailout for teachers and labor unions.

The vote was 247-161. The union bailout is a payoff to the unions who supported Obama's election in 2008. It is designed to fill the coffers of union organizers for the upcoming mid-term elections.

How convenient. Use taxpayer dollars to fund union political activities, which are invariably directed toward liberal causes and activities.

The Worse Is Yet To ComeIf you thought the past two years was a nightmare for America, wait until the Lame Duck session after the elections are over. Democrats expect to sustain heavy losses in this election cycle, but they have a plan: Ram through every horrible job killing, anti-free market, anti-moral legislation they can before they lose control in January when a new Congress begins.

Pelosi realized that she couldn't get dozens of liberal bills through before the election because it would anger middle America and make more casualties of Democrats than she already expects.
After the election, the corrupt politicians who were defeated have nothing to lose until January. They can do whatever they want without electoral consequences.

What's ahead? I suspect that liberals will try to ram through a number of terrible bills. My list is hardly exhaustive, but here are a few items: Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). ENDA will destroy religious liberty as we have known it in America. If it is challenged, the Sotomayor/Kagan/Kennedy Supreme Court will undoubtedly uphold it.

Cap & Tax (Trade) Legislation: Democrats are still clinging to the debunked notion that human activity is responsible for alleged "climate change" – and that the only way to solve it is through draconian punishment of businesses. The only impact that Cap & Tax legislation will have on America is to destroy our economy and slowly reduce us to a Third World nation.

Repeal Of Law Banning Homosexuals From Openly Serving In the Military: The Pentagon is conducting a survey to be completed in December that describes how repeal of a 1993 law against gays serving in the military will impact the military. Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-PA), however, is pushing legislation now that will repeal the 1993 law.

START Treaty Between U.S. & Russia: If this treaty is ratified by the U.S. Senate, America will be more at risk than ever from nuclear attacks.

Spending/Stimulus: Spending will explode in a Pelosi-Reid lame duck Congress. We already have a $1.6 trillion deficit this year alone! Deficits will top $1 trillion each year until 2020, totaling over $18 trillion – $74,000 per American household – with no end in sight.Massive Tax Hikes: Obama is trying to tax everything from tanning salons, to Internet sales, to ATM withdrawals. His own Treasury Secretary projects $3trillion in new choking taxes over the next ten years!

Employee Free Choice Act: This misnamed bill will strip American workers of the right to a secret ballot in union elections.

Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) Stands Up!During the final hours of the congressional session before the August recess, Rep. Tom Price offered a resolution that would prohibit the Congress from enacting any legislation other than emergency bills during the Lame Duck Session. His resolution, of course, was quickly voted down.

Rep. Price's resolution is worth reading and remembering as you head to the voting booth this November.

In it, Price outlines the outrageous antics of Speaker Pelosi and her band of drunken tax spenders during the past several years.

Keep FightingWe will continue to uphold traditional values, fiscal responsibility, and a strong national defense during the new Congress.

Please don't lose hope or stop fighting with us to protect this great nation from the assaults from liberals, socialists, Islamists, and LGBT activists.

Remember: This is not only a war in the natural world, but it is a spiritual war as well. Pray, pray and continue to pray for our work and for our nation.

City Trucks Downtown

After scrounging around for quarters in my car to pay the meter downtown, i turn around and i see this... A city truck double parked. I understand that they don't need to pay the toll for parking, but being double parked! The parking lot wasn't totally full, this was a Friday after work hours, but having the city take up two parking spaces means the city cant make twice as much revenue from their practices. If their gonna be strict about parking, they should at least be profitable.

Proposed Transaction TAX

One percent transaction tax is proposedPresident Obama's finance team is recommending a transaction tax. His plan is to sneak it in after the November election to keep it under the radar. This is a 1% tax on all transactions at any financial institution i. e. Banks, Credit Unions, etc.. Any deposit you make, or move around within your account, i. e. transfer to, will have a 1% tax charged. If your pay check or your social Security or whatever is direct deposit, 1% tax charged. If you hand carry a check in to deposit, 1% tax charged, If you take cash in to deposit, 1% tax charged. This is from the man who promised that if you make under $250,000 per year, you will not see one penny of new tax. Keep your eyes and ears open, you will be amazed at what you learn.

Some will say aw it's just 1%... remember once the tax is there they can raise it at will.
Here's the "back-up" for this information.....this could ultimately become very expensive!!!!

A search to see if anything was in the pipeline finds HR 4646, a bill to place a 1% transaction tax on every kind of transaction, from stores to banks. It's currently in committee. http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-4646

‘CLAWS PITCHING STIFLES ‘BIRDS IN 5-2 WIN

Shorebirds Record Just Two Hits

Lakewood, NJ
– The Delmarva Shorebirds did not record their first hit until the seventh inning as the Lakewood BlueClaws took game four of the series, 5-2, at FirstEnergy Park on Sunday. The Shorebirds managed only five base runners all game.

The Shorebirds raced to an early lead in the first inning without the aid of a hit. T.J. Baxter drew a lead off walk. He reached second on a wild pitch and stole third, his 30th steal of the season. Then, Ty Kelly hit a liner to deep left field that was misplayed and dropped by Leandro Castro to score Baxter. Kelly was credited with an RBI on the error by Castro.

Lakewood erased the deficit in the second. Jeremy Barnes hit a one out double. Two batters later, Keoni Ruth hit a liner that sailed over the head off Gary Helmick at short to plate Barnes.

In the third, the BlueClaws grabbed the lead for good. Jonathan Singleton hit a solo homer to dead center field to give the ‘Claws a 2-1 lead. Two batters later, Jeremy Barnes walked. Then, Kyle Lafrenz hit a hard grounder inside the first base bag and towards the right field corner to score to Barnes.

The BlueClaws added two more runs in the fifth inning. Michael Dabbs notched a double to score Stephen Batts and Lafrenz singled to plate Dabbs.

BlueClaws starter Colby Shreve earned the win in five innings. He did not allow a hit. Julio Rodriguez and Mike McGuire combined to silence the ‘Birds from the sixth inning forward.

Shorebirds starter Patrick Kantakevich was pinned with the loss in five innings.

‘Birds reliever Will Startup shutdown the BlueClaws over the final 3.2 innings. He did not allow a hit or a run and struck out three.
