Salisbury News Breaks New Records

With 71 Posts in one day, (the most we've ever produced) 633 comments so far, (11:15 PM) and the biggest Friday we've ever seen traffic wise, it's been a record day all the way around. Again Folks, THANK YOU for participating and visiting. Love us or hate us, there's no question everyone is coming to the best place in Town to get your news and information.

Just think, if so many people hadn't lost their power, who knows what our numbers would have been for the day.

Owner Of Lost Dog Found

Joe -

I just got off the phone with the dog's owner at 7:20pm.

Only 43 minutes from posting we were able to find out who the dog belonged to! You are the man, Joe.

Apparently the Delmar Animal Control officer retired recently, but the good officers of the Delmar PD are rounding up his equipment and are going to brave the storm to bring the dog to safe shelter.

Thanks again for all you do for our community!

Lost Dog Out In The Snow - Delmar

Joe -

I'm hoping that I can utilize your superpowers to find the owners of a lost dog before the storm gets worse...

The dog is currently located in the concrete tubes on the Wood Creek empty lot property in Delmar directly across Foskey Lane from Delmar Elementary school. We gave it some dog food in a bowl, but it seems to be a bit territorial at the moment.
I can't get a good picture of it, so I've looked up the breed. It looks most like a small version of a Rhodesian Ridgeback. See attached stock photo.
We've notified the Delmar Animal Control via the Sheriff's Dept., but hopefully someone will see your web release first.
Thanks for your help!

Tancredo Tells Tea Partiers: Literacy Test For Voters Would Have Stopped Obama

The Tea Party convention kicked off today in Nasvhille, and former Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) opened up the convention with some controversial remarks about the 2008 election.

"People who could not even spell the word 'vote' or say it in English put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House," Tancredo said during a speech, according to the Cleveland Leader.

Tancredo also said Obama won because "we do not have a civics, literacy test before people can vote."

This isn't the first time Tancredo has made controversial statements.

The Colorado Republican has long been a striden opponent of illegal immigration, and liberals have accused him of racial insensitivity. He launched a presidential bid in 2008 based on an anti-illegal immigration platform.

While explaining his opposition to Sonia Sotomayor's nomination, he called the group La Raza "a Latino KKK without the hoods or the nooses."

How Are The Roads?

Throughout the evening I'd like to see people report in and let us all know how the roads are, should you be out and about, starting out with your drive home.

The Leftist Vision For Government

As we noted last week, Barack Obama is now paying lip service to fiscal conservatism by calling for a "freeze" on federal spending in the face of huge deficits. Yet the freeze would apply to only a small fraction of spending and save a measly $15 billion -- and not until 2011. With Monday's budget release, in which outlays will reach $3.72 trillion for fiscal 2010 and $3.83 trillion in 2011, this political posturing becomes all the more disingenuous.

While the projected deficit will hit a record $1.56 trillion this year and a cumulative $5.08 trillion over the next five years, spending will reach 25.4 percent of GDP this year, a post-World War II record. The phony freeze simply sets a new floor for government largesse -- a floor that's nearly 30 percent higher than in 2008.

The Wall Street Journal reports, "Despite talk of 'tough choices' in [Monday's] document, the Administration wants $25 billion in new spending for states for Medicaid, $100 billion for yet another jobs 'stimulus,' big boosts in spending for low-income family programs, for health research, heating assistance and education." Additionally, the budget moves Pell Grants out of the "discretionary" spending column and into the permanent entitlement one at a cost of $307 billion over 10 years.

To finance this growth in government, including the assumption that ObamaCare and cap-n-tax become law, the budget includes nearly $2 trillion in tax increases over the next decade. Yet Obama had the gall in his SOTU to declare, "Now, let me repeat: We cut taxes." Characteristically, the budget drops one of these cuts after 2012 -- the $400 payroll tax credit.

Found Dog In Hebron On The Loose

Hi Joe,

I found this dog wandering around Barbara Ave and Terra Lane in Hebron. The dog has broken off of a light blue cable tie out. It has a choker chain on as well, but no tags. I had her in the garage, but when my husband came home, the dog ran off and would not come to us again. Currently the dog is roaming around in Hebron, last seen in the same area I found the dog. Just wanted to let the owner know. I did take the tie out off of the dog's collar.

I hope the dogs and its owner are reunited soon! Its cold out there!

Thank you,
Jenelle Sabo

Storm Readiness

In response to weather forecasts calling for a major winter storm, the Wicomico County Roads and Emergency Services Departments are preparing for a repeat of last weekend’s snow event.

Roads currently has 231 tons of salt on hand. Earlier in the week, Roads ordered 350 tons of salt and has received 175 tons. The order remains open but sources indicate that the county salt supplier is under great pressure to meet the local demand.

There are approximately 64 employees at Roads and Solid Waste on call as Emergency Services issues reports on the state of the storm. Last week, the county used 38 pieces of equipment to clear roadways.

During the week, Roads has been doing routine maintenance checks on its rolling stock to ensure readiness in the event of a second major storm hitting the area.

Here is the basic procedure for snow removal from county roads…

At the beginning of a snow event, the 6 county salt trucks are dispatched to salt the main roads. After 2”-to-3” have fallen, the remainder of the crew is alerted. If the snow is expected to stop at 3”-to-4”, Roads will wait until it stops to begin plowing. If more is expected, the crews start plowing at a 4” snowfall level. The crews will be working for as long as the snow is falling.

Last week’s snow event clean-up cost about $100,000. There are sufficient reserve funds in the Roads budget to pay for another major clean-up.

Wicomico County Emergency Services is constantly issuing weather updates and is prepared to handle 911 calls from citizens. Last week’s snow event was fairly routine for Emergency Services in terms of responding to calls.

Wicomico County Executive Richard M. Pollitt. Jr., has often said that one of the major objectives of his administration is to maintain the safety of county roads.

Girl, 11, Gives Birth To Baby Boy In Northeast Hospital

An 11-year-old girl in the Northeast recently gave birth to a baby boy, the girl’s family told Fox News.

"My daughter and (her) baby are fine, and the baby is absolutely beautiful," said the mother of the 11-year-old girl. The girl and her family are not being named in order to protect the new parent's privacy.

According to Dr. Manny Alvarez, managing health editor of FoxNews.com, the girl’s age places her in significant danger.

"A very comprehensive approach to her care needs to be instituted early in her pregnancy," Alvarez said.

A recent report by the Guttmacher Institute said teen pregnancies in the U.S. were up 3 percent in 2006. But this case is not about a teenager, noted Dr. Abdulla Al-Khan, a leading high-risk obstetrician — it’s about a pre-teen whose body is not yet built to carry a child.

"Her body is clearly not defined for pregnancy with its short stature," Al-Khan said. "Her chest is not extensively developed for breast tissue, her bones aren't quite fused, and once you expose a child this young to high amounts of progesterone and especially estrogen, there is (a possibility) that it could halt her growth."

You People Are On A Roll Today!

I would like to add something as the author of this post. Of course there are going to be domestics that rack up miles w/o problems otherwise those companies would be long since out of business. Likewise, there will be Toyotas & other imports that have their fair share of issues. There are also preferences as well-some people simply prefer one make over another for other various reasons whether it is durability, horsepower, torque, fuel economy, comfort, etc. I prefer Toyotas simply because they offer me everything I need in a vehicle & have proven to be highly dependable vehicles for me. As with most people, it only takes one incident to get on my s-list. Ford & Chevy have put a very bad taste in my mouth. I expect vehicles to have problems & if I bought a new Toyota lemon tomorrow then I would be rather upset & disappointed; however, since I've owned 5 prior Toyotas with high mileage with no problems I would be less likely to deviate from the brand. If your domestics work for you then by all means stick with them.

Moreover, what bothers me the most is that the democratic media has pounced on this error like none other! It is completely ridiculous that they are badgering Toyota especially while GM & Chrysler has been the nuisance on the American economy. GM & Chrysler have cost American tax payers billions! We, the American people, bailed out the domestic auto industry's poor practices & management-MY OPINION HERE is that a portion of the American auto makers' failures are a direct result of their production of inferior automobiles. Detriot lacked the cutting edge innovation, quality & fuel economy that foreign manufactures had been & still are producing-domestic cars are failing because Americans desire & can afford foreign cars. This can't necessarily be denied either-just like elections, the majority wins. When the majority of America chooses to drive imports then domestics lose...basically that is saying that for every domestic auto support there are at least 1 import auto supporters. During this bailout time, you didn't see imports suffering as badly, did you? No. This, coupled with the dominance & power of labor unions is a bad combination! When uneducated assembly line workers are being paid $30-60+ per an hour ($62,400-124,800+/year) we have a problem! They make more than I do with a Master's degree! When you go to your Ford or Chevy dealership, you pay for that on your MSRP. After import taxes on foreign cars, there shouldn't be a single comparable domestic car on the market with a higher sticker price but somehow Detroit has managed to do it! I must say, I do respect Ford for declining the bailout money that GM & Chrysler took-class act in my book. It just goes to show that with some restructuring, the others could have rebound the same.

I'd like to respond to a few of the comments here:

Anon 11:34,
1. You shouldn't let your kids play in the street.
2. Unless somebody removed it, my truck has what's call a "brake pedal" on it. It's to the left of the gas pedal. If my truck would to suddenly accelerate due to malfunction I would simply press the brake pedal it will magically come to a stop. There is no vehicle manufactured that has more accelerating power than braking power. Try it sometime, put the gas pedal to the floor & press the brake with your left foot-I bet you come to a stop quicker than you think...
3. Yes Toyota is thriving financially & yes they got the best car & truck of the year awards. Know why? It’s because they don't have ridiculously powerful labor unions, consumer companies like Motor Trend & JD Power don't belly up to democratic views and they are simply quality vehicles. Imagine that-actually EARNING an award? That's unheard of!

Anon 11:48,
I have a hard time believing that you even had a Toyota, especially since you can't spell TACOMA! Maybe your truck was just pissed at you because you kept spelling its name wrong!

Baskin Robbins New Ice Cream Flavor

In honor of the 44th President of the United States , Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream has introduced a new flavor: " Barocky Road ."

Barocky Road is a blend of half vanilla, half chocolate, and surrounded by nuts and flakes. The vanilla portion of the mix is not openly advertised and usually denied as an ingredient. The nuts and flakes are all very bitter and hard to swallow.

The cost is $100.00 per scoop.

When purchased it will be presented to you in a large beautiful cone, but after you pay for it, the ice cream is taken away and given to the person in line behind you at no charge.

You are left with an empty wallet and no change, holding an empty cone with no hope of getting any ice cream.

Are you stimulated?

U.S. Combat Rifle Scopes To No Longer Bear Scripture References

Rifle scopes bearing references to the New Testament no longer will be issued to American troops, and scopes already in service will have the references removed.

Military optics manufacturer Trijicon Inc., of Wixom, Mich., apparently concerned that a Pentagon review of the situation could lead to a loss or interruption of its multi-million dollar contract for the Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight, said it is ending the practice begun by the company’s founder more than 20 years ago.

Trijicon “has offered to voluntarily stop putting references to scripture on all products manufactured for the U.S. military – and will provide, free of charge, 100 modification kits to the Pentagon to enable the removal of the references that are already on products that are currently deployed...

A Comment Worthy Of A Post

The men and women of this county spoke loud and clear. Approximately 80% vote in favor of question "A". This giving the deputies the right for collective bargaining.

The first thing I see that we are all missing is that our current council dimissed the public. Some of the council actually stated " The people did not know what they were voting for" WOW they knew what they were voting for when they put your sorry ass in office, yet they did not know what they were voting for. This problem is all over the country. The Goverment is supposed to serve the people. "To serve and protect" not dictate.

I also see the county attorney E. Baker got a substancial amount of money paid into the counties retirement just after the ruling by Judge Mitchell. Again I guess the people of Wicomico County are just well stupid. I do not think so ladies and gentlemen of the current council. Bonus for screwing those that protect you from harm. Lets go a little deeper. You screwed every county employee except Pollitt and staff, yourselves, and Baker. So in turn teachers, county roads, Sheriff's Office, Corrections, Parks and Rec, Courts, Health dept.,Waste management, State's Attorneys Office who did I forget. Sorry if i missed anyone else that got furloughed or no BONUS this year.

Everyone who did not get the 50k in your retirement keep it in mind when you vote these crooked bastards out of office.

You idiots took food off of the tables of some very underpaid positions. Rewarded yourselves and a contractual employee that served other jurisdictions while working for the county. Something stinks and BAD !!!!!

So to sum it up they told the people they serve you do not know what you are voting for. We will make the right decision for you. You are not worhty of our time and effort. Basically F/U.

They then screwed every county employee, but the inner circle.

All county employees need to form a union of sorts. This is just a drop in the bucket. What do we not know about. Pens and trash cans nothing but a diversion from the real deal right Joe H.

I had your sign in my yard last election. You can bet it wont be there this year. It went on the brush pile and up in smoke. Just like you next election.

Where is Mike Lewis on this issue ?? I still think he is the one who can not be fired for doing his job. The county states they are broke. Where is the money that over sixty five deputies paid into a retirement they became vested in. What a money maker. This county never wanted a deputy to make it to retirement. How many have actually retired. I guess this is a question better posed to an attorney in Baltimore. One not on the payroll.

By the way the F.O.P. was told by the Wicomico Board Of Elections the County Attorney had to prepare the drafting of the language.

To all you county employees that will work through this "Snow Storm" stay warm and safe. You know your council will be warm and dry.

Last but not least. To the thousands that looked for Sarah Foxwell. Did anyone see one council member Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. While we the "people" gave up our Christmas to serch for a Lost Angel, a child of Wicomico they stayed "warm and dry". I think that says it all.

November is just around the corner.

14-year-old Lab mix needed second surgery after it acquired an infection

BARRINGTON, R.I.

Mid-Atlantic Could Get Up To 28 Inches Of Snow

Stores run low on milk, bread and shovels as storm bears down

WASHINGTON
- Stores ran low on milk, bread and snow shovels and federal workers were sent home early Friday as the second major snow storm in less than two months bore down on a winter-weary Mid-Atlantic.

Up to 28 inches of heavy, wet snow accompanied by powerful winds were forecast in Washington, Baltimore and surroundings. That could be a historic snowfall for the nation's capital, where the record stands at 28 inches in January, 1922.

Airlines canceled flights across the region and school districts closed for the day ahead of the winter storm forecast from Virginia and West Virginia across Maryland into southern New Jersey and Pennsylvania. It was already snowing hard in Richmond, Va., on Friday morning.

GOVERNOR O’MALLEY SIGNS EMERGENCY DECLARATION

GOVERNOR O’MALLEY SIGNS EMERGENCY DECLARATION
AS MARYLAND PREPARES FOR ANOTHER MAJOR WINTER SNOWSTORM

ANNAPOLIS, MD (February 5, 2010) –
Governor Martin O’Malley this morning issued a Declaration of Emergency as another major winter storm took aim on Maryland and the Middle Atlantic region. The declaration will give the state flexibility to activate the Maryland National Guard and provide assistance to local emergency managers.

“Maryland National Guard Units are prepared to assist local emergency managers and first responders around the state, and have already begun deployment to throughout Maryland,” Governor O’Malley said. “We urge residents to avoid driving except for the most urgent reasons. If drivers stay off the roads it will help the dedicated state and local highway crews clear the rods in a safe and efficient manner.”

The National Weather Service is predicting snowfall amounts of up to two feet in northern and central Maryland, with somewhat less in western Maryland and a possible mix of rain, sleet and accumulating snows on the lower Eastern Shore. This snowfall is expected to be as serious as the December storm that left upwards of 20 inches of snow on much of Maryland.

The National Guard has more than 100 Humvees and 5-ton trucks and military ambulances ready to respond. Maryland SHA and MdTA have 2,400 pieces of equipment and 2,700 personnel available to respond. State officials monitor storm from SHA’s Statewide Operations Center in Hanover where it has centralized communications and access to over 150 traffic cameras located around the state.

Governor O’Malley also ordered a liberal leave policy for all state employees effective at noon today.

Kudos

"My husband is retired from the DE State Police, and I am "just a housewife" with three grown children and four grandchildren. A few months ago, Tracy Sparpaglioni, a former Salisbury policeman, suggested that we should read your articles. I would like you to know that from the first day we read your articles, we were "addicted." You do a wonderful job. You can come across as very serious, and also very amusing. Keep up the good work."

Thank You, we just love this kind of stuff and it means a lot to us.

Democrats Pushing Back Against Carbon Regulations From The EPA--( Is Frank One Of Them??)

Three House Democrats are now pushing legislation that would stop the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from regulating carbon emissions—a decision the agency announced in December -- without express permission from the Congress.

Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) and Rep. Ike Skelton (D-Mo.) introduced a bill on Tuesday that would amend the Clean Air Act to exclude regulations based on global warming effects, while Rep. Earl Pomeroy (D-N.D.) has a bill that would keep the EPA from regulating greenhouse gases at all unless approved by Congress.

In April 2009 the EPA proposed an “endangerment finding” for greenhouse gases, claiming that they “endanger the public health and welfare of current and future generations.” An endangerment finding is necessary to regulate emissions under the Clean Air Act. On Dec. 7, the EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson officially signed the finding, opening the way to regulate emissions of gases like carbon dioxide and methane.

By complying with the rules of the Clean Air Act, the EPA claims it can begin regulating things directly, such as automobiles, without any new law from Congress. But some Democrats, contrary to the administration’s views of the issue, are not satisfied with the EPA’s new regulatory direction.

“I'm proud to help sponsor this bill because if Congress doesn't do something soon, the EPA is going to cram these regulations through all on their own,” Rep. Peterson said in a statement.

A Letter From Haiti

Date: Monday, January 25, 2010, 5:47 AM

News back from Nic Brockhausen. He and Dennis Hebler made it back somewhat safe and sound.

To All,

I just returned from Haiti with Hebler. We flew in at 3 AM Sunday to the scene of such incredible destruction on one side, and enormous ineptitude and criminal neglect on the other.

Port o Prince is in ruins. The rest of the country is fairly intact. Our team was a rescue team and we carried special equipment that locates people buried under the rubble. There are easily 200,000 dead; the city smells like a charnal house. The bloody UN was there for 5 years doing apparently nothing but wasting US Taxpayers money. The ones I ran into were either incompetent or outright anti American. Most are French or French speakers, worthless every damn one of them. While 1800 rescuers were ready willing and able to leave the airport and go do our jobs, the UN and USAID (another organization full of little OBamites and communists that openly speak against America ) These two organizations exemplified their parochialism by:

USAID, when in control of all inbound flights, had food and water flights stacked up all the way to Miami, yet allowed Geraldo Rivera, Anderson Cooper and a host of other left wing news puppies to land.

Pulled all the security off the rescue teams so that Bill Clinton and his wife could have the grand tour, whilst we sat unable to get to people trapped in the rubble.

Stacked enough food and water for the relief over at the side of the airfield then put a guard on it while we dehydrated and wouldn't release a drop of it to the rescuers.

No shower facilities to decontaminate after digging or moving corpses all day, except for the FEMA teams who brought their own shower and decon equipment, as well as air conditioned tents.

No latrine facilities, less digging a hole, if you set up a shitter everyone was trying to use it.

I watched a 25 year old Obamite with the USAID shrieking hysterically; berate a full bird colonel in the Air Force, because he countermanded her orders, whilst trying to unscrew the air pattern. "You don’t know what your president wants! The military isn't in charge here we are!"

If any of you are thinking of giving money to the Haitian relief, or to the UN don't waste your money. It will only go to further the goals of the French and the Liberal left.

If we are a fair and even society, why is it that only white couples are adopting Haitian orphans? Where the hell is that vocal minority that is always screaming about the injustice of American society?

Bad place, bad situation, but a perfect look at the new world order in action. New Orleans magnified a thousand times. Haiti doesn't need democracy, what Haiti needs is Papa Doc. That’s not just my opinion that is what virtually every Haitian we talked with said. The French run UN treat us the same as when we were a colony, at least Papa Doc ran the country.

Oh, and as a last slap in the face the last four of us had to take US AIRWAYs home from Phoenix . They slapped me with a 590 dollar baggage charge for the four of us. The girl at the counter was almost in tears because she couldn't give us a discount or she would lose her job. Pass that on to the flying public.

A Comment Worthy Of A Post

I go with what ever doesn't let me down. In the past 18 years I have owned 5 Toyotas (92 Camry, 98 Tacoma, 01 Camry, 06 Rav4 and 07 Tundra) and with the exception of my 92 Camry that my nephew totalled they are ALL on the road still and running strong! I have driven over a million miles in Toyotas and I was NEVER once stranded on the side of the road! The only repairs that I ever had to do to any of them were replacing clutches, brake pads, whiney alternators and batteries-all of which I consider standard maintenance/repairs. Put it this way, if I can diagnose the problem and fix it in my garage at home within 2 hours, then it isn't considered a major problem to me.

I bought a 2004 Ford 150 and within 2 years (18,000 miles) I managed to get a cracked head that the dealership somehow blamed on a faulty distributor cap and had numerous electrical problems that often left me without exterior lights! At that time, I decided to abandon Ford for good and traded it in for a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 that was nothing by problems from the day I bought it-from transfer case problems to faulty electronics to transmission failure to broken valves and more-you name it, it broke!! It was in the shop for 63 days of the 267 days I owned the truck; however keep in mind that I quit driving the truck completely after Day 147 (that was when I bought my 07 Tundra)! After my lawyer and I battled Chevrolet for several months, I was awarded a full refund of the original vehicle purchase price plus interest on my loan, taxes, title fees, lawyer fees and an additional $6,500 for inconveniences under Maryland's lemon law. My total settlement was to the tune of $45,700! Chevy would have saved about $16,000 had the dealership simply agreed to take the vehicle back when I initially requested. Out of my 20+ years of driving, the only times I had problems with my vehicles were the 3 years that I owned a domestic vehicle! Also, I tend to sell or give my vehicles to family members, but I would never consider passing my problems on to them! When I transferred my Toyotas to my brother, niece and nephew I knew that I was passing on a good, reliable quality vehicle to them.

My 07 Tundra has 98,000 miles on it. I have done absolutely no maintenance more than changing the oil, using STP fuel injection cleaner when I fill up, and giving it a good washing and waxing now and then! It has yet to go to the shop for repairs at all! My truck is, however, subject to the current gas pedal recall and let me tell you this, I HAD NO CLUE that there was a pedal malfunction! After getting notice of the recall I was able to recognize that the gas pedal does not rebound as quickly as probably should. Had it not been pointed out to me, I probably wouldn't have noticed. I'm sure that it could be more severe in other vehicles, but I certainly don't see it as a safety issue in my truck especially since there is a pedal to the left call a BRAKE PEDAL-I'm still driving it every day!

Oh and by-the-way, SCREW THE DEMOCRATIC MEDIA! The only reason they are making a big deal out of this is because they are trying to boost domestic sales. If I were on the market to buy a vehicle, I would buy another Toyota this afternoon-even if it had a faulty brake pedal so their tactics aren't working on this American!

With Snowstorm Looming, AAA Offers Tips For Drivers

AAA Mid-Atlantic is offering five tips for drivers striving to cope with the snowstorm expected to bury much of Maryland over the weekend. It's good -- and not always obvious -- advice.

AAA Mid-Atlantic’s top five last minute, common sense tips:

• Dress as if you were going to be stranded. – It can get very cold in a car on the side of the road waiting for help. Be sure to have extra blankets and to insist that children who may be traveling with you do the same.

• Open the garage door before starting the car to prevent carbon monoxide build up. - It is easy to lose track of time and carbon monoxide is almost impossible to detect and can be fatal when inhaled in a confined area.

• Bring your vehicle clearing supplies, such as your ice scraper, snow shovels, and deicer spray, inside. –Even the best prepared motorists are sometimes frustrated to wake up and find all of their supplies frozen inside the car.

• Check your antifreeze to ensure it will withstand the winter cold, using a 50/50 mixture of coolant and water to protect against freezing.

• Never pour hot water on door locks or windows to deice them, as they may crack. Frozen door locks can be overcome by carefully heating the end of a key with a match or lighter. A squirt of de-icer spray is another quick method.

Of course, the best advice at all in a snowstorm is: Stay home until the roads are clear.

Resume: Yesterday evening, a representative from the USO in Dover traveled from Kent County to the Best Buy on Concord Pike in Wilmington to purchase a new flat screen TV, valued at $6,000.00. She eventually got out of the van and noticed the driver’s side door lock had been damaged.

Cowboy Boots

Margaret and Bert, moved to Texas .

Bert always wanted a pair of authentic cowboy boots, so seeing some on sale, he bought them and wore them home.

Walking proudly, he sauntered into the kitchen and said to his wife, 'Notice anything different about me?'

Margaret looked him over. 'Nope.'

Frustrated, Bert stormed off into the bathroom, undressed and walked back into the kitchen completely naked except for the boots.

Again he asked Margaret, a little louder this time, 'Notice anything different NOW?'

Margaret looked up and exclaimed, 'Bert, what's different? It's hanging down today, it was hanging down yesterday, it'll be hanging down again tomorrow!'

Furious, Bert yelled,
'AND DO YOU KNOW WHY IT'S HANGING DOWN, MARGARET?'

'Nope,' she replied.

'IT'S HANGING DOWN, BECAUSE IT'S LOOKING AT MY NEW BOOTS!

Without changing her expression,
Margaret replied,
'Shoulda bought a hat, Bert.
Shoulda bought a hat.'

West Side Collector Road Plowed?

I received a call the other day asking me to drive by the new, (still closed) Collector Road on the west side of Salisbury. I was told they had plowed this road, yet its not open.

With all of the plowing that needs to be done throughout the City and County, one has to wonder why they'd waste taxpayer money to plow a road that isn't even in use. You tax dollars hard at work.

Haiti Aid Helicopter Crashes, Killing 2

A helicopter believed to be involved in aid operations in Haiti crashed late Thursday in the western Dominican Republic, killing two men who were aboard, officials said.

"Up to now we have two bodies, the pilot and co-pilot," said Dominican Civil Aeronautics Institute spokesman Pedro Jimenez.

The nationality of the two killed was not immediately clear.

The R44 helicopter, a light four-seat civil aircraft produced by the Robinson Helicopter Company of the United States, crashed around 7:00 p.m. (23:00 GMT) in the province of Dajabon, 190 miles northwest of the capital Santo Domingo, Jimenez said.
