A Letter To The Editor
I am from Salisbury, MD. I have relocated to Alabama but I have family and friends in Salisbury so I am in constant contact with everyone. I was in shock when I heard of Sarah Foxwells disappearance. I prayed and called who I could to find out details. Whatever they told me was from what you posted. You do an awesome job and I just wanted to thank you.
From Alabama, we prayed for Sarah and mourned her death.
Important Information On Sarah Foxwell & Bank of Willards
The fund set up for Sarah Foxwell at Farmer's Bank of Willards was not set up as a Trust Fund. It is set up, at least at one family member's request, as an account from which any of the account owners may withdraw.
I'm telling you this not to discourage all possible help for the family, but in the interest of transparency I want to make sure everyone is aware.
Autopsy Finds Maryland Girl, 11, Died Of Multiple Injuries
DOVER, Del. — An autopsy has found that a Maryland girl abducted from her home last week died of multiple injuries.
According to the chief medical examiner's office in Maryland, the death of 11-year-old Sarah Haley Foxwell is listed as a homicide. The office did not specify her injuries.
SLIDESHOW: Police Search for Missing Girl in Maryland
Foxwell was taken last Tuesday from the Salisbury home where she lived with her aunt. Her body was found Christmas Day after a search that involved thousands of volunteers.
Thomas J. Leggs Jr., who has convictions for sex offenses in Maryland and Delaware, faces a preliminary hearing Jan. 21 on charges of kidnapping and burglary in Sarah's disappearance.
Authorities have said Leggs will face additional charges.

Obama Describes Nigerian As ‘Isolated Extremeist,’ Despite Ties To Yemen
The Associated Press, quoting a Yemeni government official, said Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab lived in Yemen for two extended periods of time -- a year, from 2004-2005 and again from August-December this year. He apparently was in Yemen a few weeks before the attempt to blow Flight 253 out of the sky over Michigan.
A statement posted online Monday by Al-Qaeda in Yemen said its “manufacturing sector” had provided Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab with the explosives he took onboard the aircraft.
President Obama, in recounting what happened in the air over Michigan on Christmas day, used the word “allegedly” to describe the attempted bombing.

A Community United Over Sarah Foxwell
You see, on Christmas Day, Salisbury News reached out to all of the businesses and persons who read Salisbury News desperately asking for help. There came a time very early on Christmas morning when they realized they had run out of water and were running extremely low on food.
Folks, the people/businesses above and below immediately dropped what they were doing on Christmas Day and started packing their vehicles, started cooking food and even opened up their stores specifically to help the 4,000 volunteers searching for Sarah Foxwell. The Store Manager of Wal-Mart in Fruitland actually opened the store for Sheriff Lewis and delivered anything and everything requested, that's just one example out of many.
I want to take this time to THANK ALL OF YOU and ask for forgiveness in advance for anyone I have missed. It was a very hectic day and to recall everyone, well, it's just impossible and please forgive me if I have missed you.
A community divided by so much crime, frustrated with a horrible economy, came together as one and did everything in their powers to give back in whatever way they could. I'm proud to live here on the Eastern Shore and together we can and will make a positive difference.
I'd like to also reach out to Gary Bratten who was contacted at 2:30 AM Thursday morning by Sheriff Lewis asking for help arranging and managing all of the food and beverage services at the Shorebirds Stadium. Gary worked tirelessly for days making the proper contacts and assuring NO ONE went hungry or thirsty, THANK YOU Gary.

Delaware Judge Faces Sexual Abuse Charges
Court of Common Pleas Judge William C. Bradley faces two lawsuits alleging sexual abuse over 30 years ago. Bradley remains on the bench.

SOR Laws
First off, Thank You for the sbynews blog with your news and information that is more useful than the newspaper and the 2 news station. My reason for writing you today is that I am not to happy about these criminal suspects, convicts, and sex offenders having more rights than the victims. I am outraged by that issue. 6 years ago my family encountered a teenager living here in Md and this teenager was a registered Delaware Sex Offender and was attending a school here in Salisbury with a younger sibling of mine. How we found out that this teenager was a registered sex offender was through the mouth of a kid who rode the bus. At first, It was something I did not believe due to anyone under the age of 18 isnt required to register in Md. Intuition told me to check Delaware and there was this kids picture and address, plus seen where this kid did a sexual act to a child who was under the age of 5.
My relatives written to those who represent us in Annapolis. 3 or 4 letters went out and only one response with only literature on the SOR laws and that was no help to us and nothing accomplished. I would like to see stiffer penalties on those who are under 18 and those who are attending school with our children because they are just as bad as the over 18 sex offenders. If you are under 18 and registered from another state, it should be a mandatory registration in Maryland. That needs to be the law. I worry for our children and those who are defenseless, I worry about everyones safety. I would like to encourage your readers to flood the offices of the elected officials. We need to do something about sex offenders all together with stiffer laws and punishment. I hope you post this on your blog and get my point out to the
readers. Please take my first email and put this together with this email.
Thank You!
A Comment Worthy Of A Post
I heard on WZBH 93.5 earlier that tonite at Pickles, I think they said tonite...anyway a fundraiser toward funeral expenses, do they not know that this is covered? I don't mean this ugly, but, if the funeral is covered, where would the money go...didn't Leggs used to work at Pickles? what's that about, a fundraiser there? sorry, the funeral is covered, the burial is covered- family-you don't get compensated for putting us all through hell. Sound cold? don't mean to, honest I don't.
Editors Note: If ANYONE knows of or has heard of ANY fundraiser for Sarah Foxwell's funeral, please contact us immediately. That being said, Pickles is NOT doing a fundraiser for funeral expenses. They are raising money for Sarah's siblings with a state educational fund. This money cannot be touched for anything other than education down the road.
The fundraiser will be this evening from 7 to 10 PM.

Justice Transfers Panthers Pursuer Out Of D.C. Office
Justice Department officials confirmed Monday that Christopher Coates, who signed off on the complaint's filing in federal court in Philadelphia in January accusing the party and three of its members of civil rights violations, would begin his new assignment next month.
The complaint, which accused party members of intimidating voters at a Philadelphia polling place while wearing black berets, black combat boots, black dress shirts and black jackets with military-style markings, and wielding a nightstick, was later dismissed by Obama administration political appointees at the Justice Department.
The dismissal resulted in outrage by some Republican members of Congress and in a formal investigation by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, which subpoenaed Mr. Coates and J. Christian Adams, the lead attorney in the case, to testify on why the complaint was dismissed. The commission also is seeking documents to explain why the charges were dropped just as a federal judge was about to approve sanctions.

What Is An American
You probably missed this in the rush of news, but there was actually a report that someone in Pakistan had published in a newspaper, an offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American.
So an Australian dentist wrote an editorial the following day to let everyone know what an American is . So they would know when they found one. (Good one, mate!!!!)
'An American is English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish , Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani or Afghan.
An American may also be a Comanche, Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans.
An American is Christian , or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan . The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses.
An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God.
An American lives in the most prosperous land in the history of the world.
The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence , which recognizes the God given right of each person to the pursuit of happiness.
An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need, never asking a thing in return..
When Afghanistan was over-run by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country!
As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan
The national symbol of America , The Statue of Liberty , welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America
Some of them were working in the Twin Towersthe morning of September 11 , 2001 earning a better life for their families. It's been told that the World Trade Center victims were from at least 30 different countries, cultures, and first languages, including those that aided and abetted the terrorists.
So you can try to kill an American if you must.. Hitler did. So did General Tojo , and Stalin , and Mao Tse-Tung, and other blood-thirsty tyrants in the world. But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself . Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American.
Delaware to Suspend Doctor’s License
The Delaware Board of Medical Practice will hold an emergency meeting today to vote on the emergency suspension of Dr. Earl Bradley’s license to practice medicine. Bradley, a Lewes pediatrician, has been charged with the rape of 9 children and is suspected of molesting at least 100 children over the last decade.
Bradley is being held in the Delaware state prison in Smyrna in lieu of $2.9 cash bail. Because Bradley is considered an “imminent danger to the public”, the Board chose to undertake an “expedited investigation” and hold today’s hearing.
"Even though someone is incarcerated, tomorrow they might not be incarcerated," said James L. Collins of the Delaware Division of Professional Regulation.

Rumors About Thomas Leggs Are Not True
Folks, there are many comments coming in and e-mail messages as well asking me if the rumors about Thomas Leggs being stabbed, beaten, whatever else others are trying to pass on, they're NOT TRUE!
I brought this question up to Sheriff Lewis yesterday in the Press Conference just to officially clear the air and NOTHING has happened to Thomas Leggs. "We have an obligation to protect Leggs" said Sheriff Lewis. He has not been hurt in any way. He has not been hurt. He has NOT gone to PRMC.
So everyone needs to stop spreading such rumors. He is in solitary and not in the general population. STOP spreading these rumors. If something happens, you know we'll be the first to let you know.
Gun Sales Up, Murders Down
Gun rights advocates claim that these numbers are further proof that there is no correlation between gun ownership and violent crime. The Second Amendment Foundation, a civil rights group contends that the increase in private citizen gun-ownership may have had an impact on reducing violent crime.
In a survey conducted by the National Association of Chiefs of Police of the nation’s police executives, with regard to private citizens owning firearms for sport or self-defense, 93.6 percent of the respondents supported civilian gun-ownership rights. Ninety-six percent of the police chiefs and sheriffs believe criminals obtain firearms from illegal sources.
When asked if citizens’ concealed-weapons permits would reduce violent crime, 63.1 percent said yes.
Tribute From Auburndale Florida For Little Sarah Foxwell
U.S. Placed Under International Police-State
According to Threatswatch:
Last Thursday, December 17, 2009, The White House released an Executive Order "Amending Executive Order 12425." It grants INTERPOL (International Criminal Police Organization) a new level of full diplomatic immunity afforded to foreign embassies and select other "International Organizations" as set forth in the United States International Organizations Immunities Act of 1945. By removing language from President Reagan's 1983 Executive Order 12425, this international law enforcement body now operates - now operates - on American soil beyond the reach of our own top law enforcement arm, the FBI, and is immune from Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
What, exactly does this mean? It means that INTERPOL now has the full authority to conduct investigations and other law enforcement activities on U.S. soil, with full immunity from U.S. laws such as the Freedom of Information Act and with complete independence from oversight from the FBI.
In short, a global law enforcement entity now has full law-enforcement authority in the U.S. without any check on its power afforded by U.S. law and U.S. law enforcement agencies.
Andy McCarthy at National Review asks these crucial, sobering questions of the secretive Obama order:
Why would we elevate an international police force above American law? Why would we immunize an international police force from the limitations that constrain the FBI and other American law-enforcement agencies? Why is it suddenly necessary to have, within the Justice Department, a repository for stashing government files which, therefore, will be beyond the ability of Congress, American law-enforcement, the media, and the American people to scrutinize?

Chris Matthews: Alinsky 'Our Hero'
MSNBC host hails radical community organizerJust five days after affirming on air that he is a liberal, MSNBC host Chris Matthews exclaimed that radical community organizer Saul Alinsky is one of his heroes.
Stated Matthews: "Well, to reach back to one of our heroes from the past, from the '60s, Saul Alinsky once said that even though both sides have flaws in their arguments and you can always find something nuanced about your own side you don't like and it's never perfect, you have to act in the end like there's simple black and white clarity between your side and the other side or you don't get anything done.
"I always try to remind myself of Saul Alinsky when I get confused," Matthews said on his "Hardball" show, speaking to guest Sen. Bernie Sanders, a self-described democratic socialist, on the topic of President Obama's health care plan.
Former 1960s radical and FrontPageMagazine Editor David Horowitz describes Alinsky as the "Communist/Marxist fellow-traveler who helped establish the dual political tactics of confrontation and infiltration that characterized the 1960s and have remained central to all subsequent revolutionary movements in the United States."
Horowitz writes in his 2009 pamphlet, "Barack Obama's Rules for Revolution. The Alinsky Model":
"The strategy of working within the system until you can accumulate enough power to destroy it was what sixties radicals called 'boring from within.'.... Like termites, they set about to eat away at the foundations of the building in expectation that one day they could cause it to collapse."
THOUGHTS BY 2 MEN WHILE FISHING
Two men are out ice fishing at their favorite fishing hole, just fishing quietly and drinking beer.
Almost silently, so as not to scare the fish, Ken says, 'I think I'm
going to divorce my wife - she hasn't spoken to me in over 2 months.'
Doug continues slowly sipping his beer, then thoughtfully says, 'I suggest you
think it over very carefully - women like that are hard to find.'

Maryland Real Estate Assessments Fall
Annual property reassessments are due to go in the mail today. Across Maryland, the average homeowner will see his or her assessment fall by 19.7%.
In Wicomico County, assessments will fall by just over 18%. Will that translate into lower property tax bills for county homeowners? No.
Despite the county’s 2% revenue cap, and the state’s 10% homestead tax credit, revenue from real property should not drop. It will take several years of declining assessments before an actual reduction in property taxes is seen.
First Case Of Highly Drug-Resistant TB Found In The US
Then came the fevers. They bathed and chilled the skinny frame of Oswaldo Juarez, a 19-year-old Peruvian visiting to study English. His lungs clattered, his chest tightened and he ached with every gasp. During a wheezing fit at 4 a.m., Juarez felt a warm knot rise from his throat. He ran to the bathroom sink and spewed a mouthful of blood.
I'm dying, he told himself, "because when you cough blood, it's something really bad."
It was really bad, and not just for him.
Doctors say Juarez's incessant hack was a sign of what they have both dreaded and expected for years — this country's first case of a contagious, aggressive, especially drug-resistant form of tuberculosis.
Juarez's strain — so-called extremely drug-resistant (XXDR) TB — has never before been seen in the U.S., according to Dr. David Ashkin, one of the nation's leading experts on tuberculosis. XXDR tuberculosis is so rare that only a handful of other people in the world are thought to have had it.
TB germs can float in the air for hours, especially in tight places with little sunlight or fresh air. So every time Juarez coughed, sneezed, laughed or talked, he could spread the deadly germs to others.
"You feel like you're killing somebody, like you could kill a lot of people. That was the worst part," he said.
In 1944 a critically ill TB patient was given a new miracle antibiotic and immediately recovered. New drugs quickly followed. They worked so well that by the 1970s in the U.S., it was assumed the disease was a problem of the past.
Once public health officials decided TB was gone, the disease was increasingly missed or misdiagnosed. And without public funding, it made a comeback among the poor. Then immigration and travel flourished, breaking down invisible walls that had contained TB.
Juarez spent a year and a half living isolated in a sanitorium room plastered with bikini-clad blondes, baseball caps and a poster of Mt. Everest for inspiration. There were days when he simply shut down and refused his meds until his family convinced him to keep fighting.
His treatment cost Florida taxpayers an estimated $500,000, a price tag medical director Ashkin says seems like an astronomical amount to spend on someone who's not an American citizen. But he questions how the world can afford not to treat Juarez and others sick with similar lethal strains.

History 101
Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.
The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:
1. Liberals, and
2. Conservatives.
Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That's how villages were formed.
Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement.
Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q's and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement.
Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest became known as girlie-men. Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.
Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the jackass.
Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare. Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels than their men. Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn't fair to make the pitcher also bat.
Conservatives drink domestic beer, mostly Bud. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, athletes, members of the military, airline pilots and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.
Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.
Here ends today's lesson in world history:
It should be noted that a Liberal may have a momentary urge to angrily respond to the above before forwarding it.
A Conservative will simply laugh and be so convinced of the absolute truth of this history that it will be forwarded immediately to other true believers and to more liberals just to tick them off.
And there you have it. Let your next action reveal your true self.
