Mayor Ireton has just informed the Council they will either move forward on the first reading for a new Crime Prevention Officer or he will move forward without them.
Councilwoman Cohen stated, PLEASE, let's work together. "I'd like to see the Council come together. Let's pass this on first reading and make adjustments as we move on with it." She went on to say, "on behalf of the citizens, let's join the Mayor and pass this."
Shanie Shields stated, I don't know this young man. "I need to feel comfortable with this young man." She wanted to bring it back to a work session but she saw the writing on the wall and ultimately voted yes on the first reading.
Gary Comegys started grandstanding and back stepping from the last meeting and stated he wanted $150,000.00 above and beyond the $162,000.00 the Mayor said was already in overtime.
The Mayor came back and stated he'd address the Council on additional over-overtime. LOL
Councilwoman Campbell tried to get Council President Smith to commit to placing this on the next work session and Louise responded that she was going to place it on the fast track but refused to state it would in fact be on the next work session. My money says there's no doubt in my mind it will.

A LOCAL FAMILY IN NEED II
Hi Joe,
Thanks for publishing my post about asking for help for Tommy and Beth Phillips in Fruitland. There were some questions in the comments that I will try to address. They have medical insurance through the government but it does not cover the dental work that Dylan needs. It does cover everything else that they have needed for him, he is getting a prosthetic for his hand early next year that is covered by the government. The dental work is causing a hardship on the family, along with all the other things I had listed before. Your readers had asked for sizes for the family so I am listing those as well:
The boy, Dylan, is 12. His sizes are XL boys tops, Med-Large (8-10) sweatpants, Boys size 4 shoes and socks.
The girl, Jana, is 10. Her sizes are 12-14 (Large) to XL Misses pull on jeans. Large shirts (Misses), Size 8 socks and shoes.
I haven’t been able to get the parents sizes yet but I will send that info as soon as I can.
Any help at all is greatly appreciated!!!

Mike Dunn Back To His Old Ways Again
Joe,
I had lunch yesterday with someone who said they heard that Mike Dunn went way over the top at a meeting at the University the other day. The meeting was for improving neighborhood and university relationships.
Terry Cohen was talking about something having to do with landlord laws and Dunn interrupted with something like “I can't listen to any more of this” and proceeded to loudly personally attack her in front of the group, which included several university deans, the president of the student government, John Pick, a county councilman and several others from the community. The tirade went on for several minutes and nobody could stop him.
It was a morning meeting and Dunn allegedly showed up wearing a baseball cap, which they said he wore pulled down low over his eyes through the entire meeting, and that he even kept it on when there was a moment of silence called for by the meeting's president for a recently deceased student.
I heard from another source that he did something like this a couple of weeks ago at another university-community meeting, but I can't verify it.
Sounds like he's the same arrogant a*****e he was when he was on council, and that maybe he needs to have his medications adjusted again.
Have you heard anything?
Rick R.
Finally, A Green Plan I/We Can Get Behind
A Letter To The Editor II
I don't understand why the White House is so upset about the two party crashers at Barack Obama's steak dinner the other night.
Is it really appropriate and politically correct to call them party crashers just because they trespassed on Mr. Obama? Does that make them criminals? Isn't that discrimination? Shouldn't they be rewarded for such bold and brave behavior? Maybe they were just trying to feed their family?
I would suggest that it's more appropriate to call them "undocumented guests."
Just because they weren't officially invited doesn't mean they should be treated like criminals. Maybe they should get free health care, free housing, free legal services and free White House green cards so next time they can enter legally. And they should be able to bring all of their relatives and family members, too..
How can Mr. Obama be mad at them just because they crossed over some arbitrary man-made border? They were there only to do the things that regularly invited guests didn't want to do. (Like hang out with Joe Biden.)
How can the White House punish these poor oppressed undocumented visitors?

Google Employees Testing New Mobile Device
'Nexus One' could be sold directly to consumers as soon as next year
Google's employees are testing a new mobile device that runs on the company's Android operating system, as the search giant continues its push into the wireless market and toward more direct competition with Apple's iPhone.
In a blog post Saturday, Google said the new device, dubbed "Nexus One" combines hardware built by an unnamed partner with its Android software. The free software is crucial in Google's efforts to make its search engine and other services as accessible on cell phones as they already are on personal computers.
Google handed the device out to employees across the globe so they could "experiment with new mobile features and capabilities," and give quick feedback on the new technology, said Mario Queiroz, vice president of product management, said on the company's blog.

Have you ever seen your property from space? Go to the link below and check it out.
As a note, the addresses for the various locations are a little off but with the 911
addressing system being fairly new around here, that is no real surprise.
When that map comes up, you will probably be familiar with the satellite view but
at this point, you select "street view - new". Then you can use the controls on the upper left side of the image to turn the camera 360 degrees and at one point you will see your house.
The map on the right will have some streets marked in blue - these are the streets that have been imaged and you can navigate up and down the streets with the mobile camera. These scenes are videos of locations that have been imaged. You can navigate up and down the Delmar (town) streets as most of them have been imaged. You can also visit other locations to see if they have been filmed.

Holiday Safety Tips For A Safe And Happy Holiday Season
This holiday season, don’t let the spirit of giving lull you into giving burglars, muggers, nor pickpockets a chance to do their dirty work. Criminals love the holidays as much as everyone else, chiefly because it’s a perfect opportunity to commit a crime. Keep these tips in mind for a safe and happy holiday season.
If You’re Traveling . . .
Set an automatic timer for your lights.
Ask your neighbor to watch your home, shovel the walks, pick up newspapers, collect mail, and park in the driveway from time to time. Be sure to hide any gifts that may be left in the house while you’re gone.
If You’re Out for the Evening . . .
Turn on lights and a radio or the TV so that it appears that someone is home.
Lock all doors and windows while you’re out, even if you’ll be gone for just a few minutes. Do not place packages or gifts near windows or in other high-visibility sites.
If You’re Shopping . . .
Don’t let your guard down just because you are rushing. Stay alert and be aware of everything around you at all times. Park in well-lighted spaces and as close to the store as possible, lock your car doors, and hide packages in the trunk or under the seats. Do not carry large amounts of cash; pay with a check or credit card if possible. Make sure that you do not carry all your packages at the same time.
Carry your purse close to your body, not dangling by the straps. Put a wallet in an inside coat or front pants pocket. If you take your children shopping, teach them to go to a police officer or a store security guard if they get separated or get lost.
If a Stranger Comes to the Door . . .
Stay alert to suspicious-looking couriers delivering packages to you or your neighbors. Many con artists take advantage of holiday generosity by going door-to-door. Ask for identification and get specifics to how and where the donations will be spent/used. If you feel uncomfortable, just say “no thank you” and shut the door.
If You’re at Home . . .
Turn on outside lights to deter burglars. Report any suspicious behavior to the police or local community watch groups. Make sure your homeowners (or renters) insurance is up-to-date and everything is inventoried properly.
