Student found with gun in New Castle area high school.

On Friday at 1:45 in the afternoon, a school student approached a member of the William Penn faculty and advised that they observed a 16 year-old male student with a gun on school property. School administrators and the trooper assigned to the school as the School Resource Officer identified the student and brought him to the main office to be searched. A handgun was located in the students backpack and was rendered safe by the trooper. The weapon was later found to be stolen out of the city of Wilmington.

No students were injured and charges are pending. The investigation is on going.
