WABC Scrubs Alleged Corzine Campaign Aide's Drug Arrest From Website
Although the headline "Corzine campaign worker arrested" shows up in a Google News search, the page is no longer available: "We are sorry, but the URL you requested could not be found. The page you are looking for may have been renamed, moved, or deleted."
A search of "Jason Shih" and "Corzine" at 7Online.com did not produce a new article concerning Shih's arrest.
[UPDATE, 1pm EDT: According to the New York Post: "Corzine spokeswoman Elisabeth Smith said Shih is not on the payroll of the campaign or the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, and that the campaign doesn't know who he is."]
Fortunately, the website Drug Policy Central captured the 7Online report for its readers (h/t Twitter follower NYfitter):

House Passes Kratovil Amendment Supporting Veteran Owned Small Businesses
Washington, DC – Last week Rep. Frank Kratovil offered an amendment to the Small Business Financing and Investment Act of 2009 that would raise the maximum SBA 7(a) loan guarantee from 90% to 100% on qualifying loans for veteran owned small businesses.
The amendment passed by voice vote and was included in the final bill which passed as well.
“As we approach Veteran’s Day I feel we should be supporting our Vets not only with our words but with our actions, and this amendment is an appropriate way to do so,” said Rep. Kratovil. “Raising the maximum loan guarantee will not only be a way of fulfilling our commitment to veterans but will also serve to stimulate lending and financing for the small businesses that are the backbone of local economies and the number one source of new job creation.”
The bill frees up the often elusive credit that serves as the life-line of any established or start-up small business, it honors the service of our nation’s veterans, and it will stimulate the small businesses at the heart of the U.S. economy.

MARYLAND SENATE'S ONLY DOCTOR SPEAKS OUT AGAINST PELOSICARE, PROPOSES ALTERNATIVES
Annapolis, MD - Last week, the long-awaited final U.S. House of Representatives “health care reform” bill, HR3962, was released by Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
While it was claimed that the House version of “health care reform” would solve many of the problems with health care delivery and insurance in the United States, a closer examination of the 1,990 page bill shows just the opposite.
“This bill raises taxes by over a half trillion dollars. Worse than that, it taxes medical innovation, and removes tax deductions for employers who supplement Medicare Part D Drug coverage for seniors. It is just another example of runaway taxing and spending in Washington, and does little to deal with the real problems facing the health care system in the United States”, says Senator Andy Harris, the only physician in the Maryland State Senate.
“Instead of extending innovative health care insurance products to millions of uninsured Americans, or expanding affordable coverage by allowing the sale of insurance across state lines, HR3962 sets up a government-run public option plan, paid for by taxpayers. It also establishes a government mandate that will harm small businesses when they are most vulnerable - during this economic downturn. Instead of creating jobs, they will be forced to pay ever higher taxes, and will actually have incentives not to expand or hire additional workers.”
Dr. Harris also noted that HR3962 will require state governments to spend more on Medicaid at a time when state budgets are already bankrupt. “HR3962 will force Maryland to spend hundreds of millions of dollars over the next five years in additional Medicaid spending – at a time when we are projected to run two to three billion dollar deficits. The math simply doesn’t add up.”
Senator Harris supports common-sense health care reform measures that would save taxpayer dollars, decrease the cost of health insurance, expand coverage, and reduce the deficit, including:
-Establishing private health care insurance “exchanges”
-Meaningful tort reform
-Expansion of Health Savings Accounts
-Allowing health insurance sales across state lines
-Allowing tax deductibility for individual purchases of health insurance

Victim Flagged Down By Suspect – Robbed At Gunpoint
Location: Evan’s Drive, Coverdale Crossroads, Bridgeville
Date of Occurrence: Sunday, November 1st, 2009 at 3:20 pm
Suspect(s): Mr. Maurice D. Cannon, 27, 21000 Block of Coverdale Road, Bridgeville, DE

MEET SALISBURY’S BANANA REPUBLICAN – LOUISE SMITH
The Salisbury City Charter is very clear: “all legislative powers of the city shall be vested in a Council” and “the Mayor shall be the chief executive officer and the head of the administrative branch of the city government.” No executive power or administrative authority is conferred upon the City Council or its president. The only task of the president specified in the Charter is presiding at Council meetings.
Thus, you should have been surprised if not shocked by the recent report that the Council’s current president has not only signed a contract for the City of Salisbury – that falsely represents that it was approved by the Council – but also certain “change orders” to that contract, which pertains to “the Bricks” building. If Ms. Smith has done any of those acts, there are some significant questions and possible problems.
Just how and when did Ms. Smith become authorized to function as part of “the administrative branch of the city government” that operates under the aegis of the city’s “chief executive officer,” Mayor Ireton? Has the Charter been changed, or did he delegate some special role or position for Ms. Smith in his administration? This is a pertinent question regardless of whether Council approval (as a body) is needed for the contract or change orders mentioned above.
And if Mr. Ireton was unaware of the alleged actions taken by Ms. Smith when they occurred, which of his underlings is or are complicit in this episode – and what is he doing to make sure that there is no recurrence of conduct befitting a banana republic?
Then there’s the issue of whether the contract and change orders have been duly issued by the city, and whether they are enforceable against it.
The administrative irregularity issues discussed above may be just the tip of the iceberg. Despite Mr. Wilber’s legal opinion exonerating Ms. Smith (are you surprised?), there are specific prohibitions, not to mention ethical standards, that may have been violated, with possible criminal sanctions. The next time Louise comes to the Government Office Building, someone should point out the Courthouse to her.
This scenario seems somewhat similar to the episode in which a former president of the Wicomico County Council took it upon himself to apply on behalf of the County for a state funded horse facility.
Yes, we have some bananas in the “Peoples’ Republic of Salisbury.”
Chesapeake Cleanup Plan Raises Concerns Beyond Bay Area
strict limits on the amount of pollution allowed into the Bay watershed under Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) rules.
Jointly announcing the initiative, Vilsack focused his comments on how farmers and ranchers could use incentive programs run by USDA to improve water quality and “not get themselves into a situation that EPA has to deal with.” He said $638 million of USDA conservation program funding would be targeted to Bay watershed projects. Jackson, however, focused less on the carrot and more on the stick, repeatedly
mentioning “increased enforceability and oversight.”
TMDL limitations, in effect pollution caps, would be applied to more farms under EPA’s plan to broaden the definition of a Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO)—a class of large livestock farms subject to the strictest requirements to manage waste and prevent nutrient runoff.
The Virginia Farm Bureau Federation says farmers are willing to do their part but that it is “wary” of the Bay cleanup plans.
Maryland Farm Bureau says that EPA figures show that while agricultural nutrients are often cited as the leading cause of trouble in the Bay, 93 percent of the nitrogen and 92 percent of the phosphorous comes from sources other than Maryland farms.
“You could stop all of the farming in Maryland and still not make a significant reduction in Bay nutrients,” said Maryland Farm Bureau President Mike Phipps. “And if you replaced farms with housing developments you are likely to make the problem worse.” But EPA and USDA in effect said that existing conservation efforts were not enough.
They released on Sept. 10 seven draft reports required by President Obama’s May 12 executive order calling for an intensified Chesapeake Bay cleanup effort. The reports recommended, among other things, that EPA regulate more farms and ranches through the TMDL permitting program.
Coming to a watershed near you Don Parrish, American Farm Bureau Federation water quality specialist, says farmers and ranchers outside the Chesapeake Bay watershed might be tempted to think they are off the hook, but they should think again.
“EPA officials have said that the approach they are taking with the Chesapeake Bay could be a model for other watersheds,” Parrish said. “If the federal government is allowed to expand TMDL regulations in this one area, you can be fairly sure they will use that to try to also broaden regulation of agriculture in other parts of the country.”
Parrish said the impact also will not be limited to agriculture. If the federal government bans new pollution discharge permits, he explained, it would essentially freeze growth in the affected areas. At a minimum, EPA could require that any new discharges be offset by reductions elsewhere.
If reductions could not be achieved, new discharge permits would not be granted. “I hope people wake up and smell the coffee,” he said. “Some administration officials have been refreshingly blunt and have been quoted in the press as saying, ‘the move could pose challenges because it will stifle economic growth’ and ‘bar an expansion
of existing permits.’”
According to the multi-state Chesapeake Bay Program Office, currently 16.6 million people call the Bay watershed home and population is forecast to rise to 20 million by 2020. The watershed encompasses all of Washington, D.C., and parts of six states:
Delaware, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.
The growth limits will affec the griculture as well, according to Wilmer Stoneman, Virginia Farm Bureau’s director of governmental relations. “Ultimately, farmers will not be able to afford to buy offsets to expand their farming operations,” he said, “which will force them to remain small and inefficient.” That could lead to many of them leaving agriculture, he added.
Implementation of the recommendations The government’s draft strategy will be published in the Federal Register on or about Nov. 9 for public comment. The goal is to finalize the Chesapeake Bay strategy by May 12, 2010, one year after Obama issued his executive order.
In addition, the government will have to propose new CAFO rules in the coming months in order to expand the scope of livestock operations that would fall under the strict permitting and discharge elimination rules that apply to CAFOs. Parrish said Farm Bureau would monitor the rulemaking process closely and weigh in.

Did Black Panther Make Secret White House Visit?
Malik Zulu Shabazz, national chairman of the radical New Black Panther Party, refused to confirm or deny to WND whether he visited the White House since President Obama took office, despite his name appearing on a recent administration
disclosure.
Shabazz' namesake was among the 110 names and 481 visits released by the White House on Friday as part of the Obama administration's so-called volunteer disclosure policy. The names were just a fraction of the hundreds of thousands of visitors who have gone through the White House's doors since January.
Among the famous names that stood out on the brief list were Shabazz, Jeremiah Wright and William Ayers.
The White House blog claimed all three names were "false positives" – names that make you think of a well-known person, but are actually someone else.
Added the official blog: "In September, requests were submitted for the names of some famous or controversial figures (for example Michael Jordan, William Ayers, Michael Moore, Jeremiah Wright, Robert Kelly, and Malik Shabazz). The well-known individuals with those names never actually came to the White House. Nevertheless, we were asked for those names, and so we have included records for those individuals who were here and share the same names."
Other famous names confirmed to have visited the White House include Oprah Winfrey and George Soros.
Asked by WND to confirm or deny he had visited the White House, Shabazz replied by e-mail "no comment on that one."
There is no known record of Shabazz visiting the White House.

Ex-President Of GWU Leads In Pay Survey
Among private school chiefs, Trachtenberg's $3.7 million beat No. 2 by $2 million
Former George Washington University president Stephen J. Trachtenberg received $3.7 million in pay and benefits in 2007-08, $2 million more than the total compensation that year for any other current or former leader in private higher education in the United States, according to a survey of executive pay released Monday.
Compensation for presidents of private colleges and universities rose 6.5 percent in 2007-08, to a median of $358,746, according to an annual survey of 419 institutions by the Chronicle of Higher Education. The trade publication analyzed federal tax documents for the 2007-08 fiscal year.
Within a more select group of major private research universities, median pay rose 15.5 percent to $627,750. That group includes American University President Cornelius M. Kerwin, who received $1.4 million in 2007-08, fifth among all current presidents in the survey.
Steven Knapp, former provost of Johns Hopkins University, replaced Trachtenberg at GWU, where he received $379,000 in 2007-08. At other Washington area institutions, former Johns Hopkins president William Brody received $1.1 million in 2007-08; Georgetown President John DeGioia, $643,000; and former Howard University president H. Patrick Swygert, $560,000.

Halloween In Camden Was A Blast Once Again
Cars were coming into the Camden Neighborhood loaded with kids as this was clearly the place to be once again this year. Unfortunately, only about 1 out of every 4th home had their lights on and were giving out Candy but for those who were giving out treats no child walked away disappointed.
Councilwoman Debbie Campbell out did herself once again by offering a fantastic display of Halloween images and music. Next door at the Goetz Home, Witches entertained the kids while the Grim Reaper stood very still, (many thinking it was a statue) and once they'd come by his path he'd come to live and scare the crap out of everyone, including adults.
It was a good time had by all and we look forward to next year.
In 10 Months, 115 US Banks Go Belly Up; 9 Fail In One Day
NEW YORK: The American economy
may have witnessed quarterly expansion, but the count of bank failures are soaring and a staggering 115 entities have
Indicating that the nation's financial system continues to remain jittery, the bank failures in 2009 have witnessed a four-fold rise from that of last year, when just 25 went belly up. The authorities closed down nine banks on October 30. They are Bank USA, Community Bank of Lemont, San Diego National Bank, California National Bank, Pacific National Bank, Park National Bank, Citizens National Bank, Madisonville National Bank and North Houston Bank
.
According to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), which insures deposits of over 8,000 American banks, these collapses would cost its Deposit Insurance Fund about USD 2.5 billion.
The nine banks had combined assets worth USD 19.4 billion and deposits of USD 15.4 billion, as on September 30.
Moreover, the collapse of 115 banks so far this year is the highest for any year since 1992, when 181 entities were shut down, in the wake of the savings and the loan crisis.
Even as the economic activities is slowly picking up, the bank failures are anticipated to climb in the coming months, mainly due to higher unemployment resulting in increased defaults.
After four straight quarters of contraction, the US GDP expanded 3.5 per cent for the three months ended September.
Bryan's Bowling Center In Laurel, DE.
Many are not aware of the new Bowling Center located near the Laurel High School on Bi State Blvd. in Laurel, DE..
They have 14 lanes and one of the coolest duck pin lanes I've ever seen. Their Rt 66 lanes, (2 of them) are in a separate area so the young ones can have a blast without interrupting everyone else. They also have a game room, including a 7 ft. pool table.
There's a Bar in the front of the building and quite frankly this place has to be the cleanest business I've ever walked into on the Eastern Shore, especially the kitchen.
If you're looking for something new, this is the place to go. Everything is state-of-the-art computer technology and they even have a Pro Shop. It's only about 10 minutes north of Delmar. I highly recommend it.
Mayor Ireton, Let's Get Real
Look, I understand the concept behind Code & Compliance but to be quite honest with you, it's scenes like this that truly ticks me off to no end. You see, when it comes to anything government related it's more, do as I say, not as I do.
This is the storage property on Waverly Drive where thousands of people have to travel past this lot and simply put up with this crap.
Ever since I bought my Downtown property, I have had Code & Compliance up my rear end for this or that and quite frankly they have cost me several thousand dollars for simple crap. Mind you, I'm all about being compliant and I want to have my property right. However, is it just my Inspector in the Downtown area who has perfect vision and all of the rest of the Inspectors are legally blind?
Recently there was mention of green mold on the exterior of my building. First of all, that's fungus. It's on an area I cannot access and quite frankly it's a fungus that grows everywhere, including on trees. It's not really noticeable, unless someone like JT calls them to complain. Nevertheless, I took a ride around Salisbury this weekend and I started taking pictures of buildings with BLACK mold all over them but of course nothing has been said to them.
No, I'm not saying they're picking on me, they're not. However, when I get a phone call and I'm asked to come out and take pictures of a storage lot on Waverly Drive and the mess they mentioned three weeks ago is still there, well, I've got a problem with this system. It should be noted, I was NOT asked to remove the mold/fungus. However, I have taken steps through TEMCO to have it removed anyway to show Code & Compliance, (in good faith) I continue to prove I am willing to work with them.
In these hard economic times, I doubt Mayor Ireton wants Joe Albero driving the streets and posting images of other violators and clearly showing how it works for some and not for others. Believe me, I can start with a list of Landlords and go from there. Start cleaning up your own mess Mayor, before you sick the dogs out on us honest taxpayers who have invested many more millions of dollars on their properties than anyone else.
This is a battle I highly doubt this Mayor wants to get into with me as I do love a challenge and I very rarely lose.
Salisbury Bible Fellowship-- Good Deeds
You do not know me but I feel the need to include you in an email I sent to the Daily Times-which they posted Saturday. With all of the bad news today, I feel people need to hear some good news!!! After seeing Milton Savage's pictures in the paper regarding the Salisbury Bible Fellowship's good deeds at the Crisis Center, I felt I could not wait one more day to pass along our experience with this blessed group.
My husband, Beau Nelson, has Stage IV pancreatic cancer + we have no health insurance and are just overwhelmed. Ted Nichols of The Salisbury Bible Fellowship headed a group from his church to come here and help us. I was not sure what they would do, but they wanted to help us and when I looked out the window on Sunday morning-here came a group of men, women, children and teenagers--- all carrying shovels, rakes and other tools. They raked leaves, trimmed bushes, pruned trees & did more than I can say!!! And if that was not enough, they pulled up a Zebra grass that had gotten way out of control.
When the leaves were raked, they ran a mower over the yard with a vacuum attached and cleaned the leaves up. I know this church is blessed by God and they are bestowing their blessings on others. Beau and I will be ever grateful to all of them for their help in this difficult time. I just want as many people as possible to know about this group of wonderful people.
Sincerely,
Jane Nelson

Boy Scout's Letter Home
looking for Adam when it happened.
Oh yes, please call Adam's mother and tell her he is okay. He can't write because of the cast. I got to ride in one of the search and rescue jeeps. It was neat. We never would have found Adam in the dark if it hadn't been for the lightning.
Scoutmaster Ted got mad at Adam for going on a hike alone without telling anyone. Adam said he did tell him, but it was during the fire so he probably didn't hear him. Did you know that if you put gas on a fire, the gas will blow up?
The wet wood didn't burn, but one of the tents did and also some of our clothes. Matthew is going to look weird until his hair grows back.
We will be home on Saturday if Scoutmaster Ted gets the bus fixed. It wasn't his fault about the wreck. The brakes worked okay when we left. Scoutmaster Ted said that with a bus that old, you have to expect something to break down; that's
probably why he can't get insurance.
We think it's a neat bus. He doesn't care if we get it dirty, and if it's hot, sometimes he lets us ride on the fenders. It gets pretty hot with 45 people in a bus made for 24. He let us take turns riding in the trailer until the highway patrol
man stopped and talked to us.
Scoutmaster Ted is a neat guy. Don't worry, he is a good driver. In fact, he is teaching Jessie how to drive on the mountain roads where there aren't any cops. All we ever see up there are logging trucks.
This morning all of the guys were diving off the rocks and swimming out to the rapids. Scoutmaster Ted wouldn't let me because I can't swim, and Adam was afraid he would sink because of his cast (it's concrete because we didn't have any
plaster), so he let us take the canoe out. It was great. You can still see some of the trees under the water from the flood.
Scoutmaster Ted isn't crabby like some scoutmasters. He didn't even get mad about the life jackets. He has to spend a lot of time working on the bus so we are trying not to cause him any trouble.
Guess what? We have all passed our first aid merit badges. When Andrew dove into the lake and cut his arm, we got to see how a tourniquet works.
Steven and I threw up, but Scoutmaster Ted said it probably was just food poisoning from the left-over chicken. He said they got sick that way with food they ate in
prison. I'm so glad he got out and became our scoutmaster. He said he sure figured out how to get things done better while he was doing his time. By the way, what is a pedal-file?
I have to go now. We are going to town to mail our letters & buy some more beer and ammo. Don't worry about anything. We are fine and tonight it's my turn to sleep in the Scoutmaster's tent.
Love, Jimmie

Gitmo Detainees Set To Receive Swine Flu Vaccine
Army Maj. James Crabtree, a spokesman for the U.S. jail facility in southeast Cuba, said the doses should start arriving this month, with guards and then inmates scheduled for inoculations.
He acknowledged there may be an "emotional response" from critics who argue that terror suspects should not be allocated swine-flu medications while members of the U.S. public are still waiting due to a vaccine shortage.
But he said U.S. military officials are "responsible for the health and care of the detainee population."
Medical personnel at Guantanamo requested the doses, but Crabtree said he did not know how many.
Detainees will be vaccinated "entirely on a voluntary basis," he said. "There is always going to be a segment of the population that is going to refuse," either due to anxiety about a shot or to "distrust of our motivations."
The top House Republican, Rep. John Boehner of Ohio, told CNN's "State of the Union" show on Sunday that he does not agree with the H1N1 vaccination plans for detainees at Guantanamo.
"I don't think it's a good idea. The administration probably didn't think it would be very popular either; that's why they announced it on Friday night," Boehner said.
The Miami Herald first reported about the vaccination plans on Wednesday.

O’Malley Continues to Spend Maryland Into the Poorhouse
While claiming to have “saved” 14,000 jobs, thanks to the Obama PORKULUS, Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley continues to spend the once-Free State into the proverbial poorhouse. O’Malley, like his leftist pals in DC, hope to pull the wool over our eyes. There is no such thing as a “saved job”. Jobs are either created, or lost. In Maryland, we have seen over 25,000 jobs lost since February.
While trying to persuade Marylanders that excessive and wasteful government spending is “saving” jobs, O’Malley continues to head down the path of fiscal destruction. Money continues to be spent on projects such as taking property off of the tax rolls.
Has anyone in Annapolis bothered to ask what will happen when Federal money dries up?
